“I booked about a month in advance and immediately called with a preference for a double non-smoking room. Fortunately, the staff honored the request and we were very pleased with our stay.”

“Excellent location in the heart of DC. You can see the Capitol from the front door and across the street from Union Station with local bus service, metro service and a great, cheap restaurant right there. The rooms are cozy and well appointed- flat screen TV, whisper-quiet HVAC, down pillows and lush wallpaper. The staff is very attentive- this can be unsettling if you're not used to 4-star service!”

“We were extremely pleased with the Phoenix Park Hotel. We stayed for a week and found everything to be comfortable and accommodating. The restaurant is five star! The staff was superb.”

• The beds were extremely comfortable. The best bed I have ever slept on. 32" plasma wall mounted TV was nice too.
• Liked everything.

“The location was perfect for downtown, the Capitol Union Station and the Smithsonian Museums. Restaurant/Pub was nice. Very clean and great housekeeping. Staff was always on the ball and ready to assist with questions. Turn down service at night with chocolates on the pillows. Definitely would stay here again.”

• The bedding was So comfortable, Irish decor made it seem not like a hotel, location near capital/train station excellent, and attentive housekeeping.
• Fans in bathroom need to be fixed -vent brings in smoke from adjourning room, air conditioning blows on face at night, and need ice machine floor 4.

“We knew we were getting a small room but it comforting for an extended stay. Not far to walk to American Art museum and restaurants in that area too.”

• The location was great right by union station, and north of the capital.
• The Irish pub gets pretty load during the weekends.

“The stay was fantasist; rooms were beautiful, beds you dream of, and a staff willing to help you. I plan on staying here again and again. The Irish pub has great food, but gets really busy during the night.”

“This hotel appears to be geared towards the business traveler that simply needs a comfy bed to sleep in. The rooms were way too small and the heating on our floor did not work. I would not recommend this hotel for a family, however would recommend for someone who simply needs a nice bed to sleep in and be on their way. Not a bad hotel- just nor for me.”

• It has very unique style, with most things made in Ireland.
• Rooms are kind of small.

“Generally I enjoyed my stay in this hotel. It has a very Irish flavor, which is not common in the hotels I have stayed before. The room is clean and pleasant. It would be better if it can be bigger though. The location of the hotel is good, only a 2 blocks away from Union Station and a few blocks away from the Capital. However, if you plan to visit the Washington Monument & surrounding area, it's a bit out of the way.”

“There is a well known and popular Irish restaurants attached to the hotel and a competing restaurant just adjacent to it. The hotel is also in a very convenient location. It is within walking distance to the capitol and only a block from the union station. My room on the fifth floor was quite small but very well furnished.”

• The beds were awesome, the toiletries imported from Ireland, the robe in the room.
• The front desk staff, some of them were great but some of them not.

• Small Rooms, way too small . No car park, valet service provided however parking might still be a hassle.

“I haven't tried all the amenities this hotel has to offer, but overall the staff were friendly, the rooms clean, BUT way too small, and I do mean small, They don't have a designated car park, so you'll have to rely on their valet service.”

• The staff was very friendly.
• The employees did not take their job tasks as seriously or perform them accurately.

“They charge $30 a day for valet and I had to go get my own car twice because the guy didn't want to walk to the garage. He tried to talk me into parking on the street. The valet card was not filled out properly ex. damage check. The staff was friendly but lazy.”

• The ONLY good thing I can say about this hotel is that it's located near union station metro stop.
• The room I was give. Room #919 (penthouse). I have NEVER had such a bad experience before. It look ok from the outside, but you get a motel 6 stay.

“I have stayed at many hotels throughout the world and I can say that my stay at the Phoenix Park Hotel in Washington, DC was the absolute worse EVER! I've never seen a hotel room so small. It maybe a foot or so larger than a 6x9 prison cell. From my check in where in bell-man called me "Mr. no name" until I check out, I was disappointed. I actually left the hotel after I took a two hour nap and went to the Renaissance Hotel on 999 9th street. I called the Phoenix the next morning and checkout via telephone. ”

“I definitely recommend this hotel. There are 2 bars down stairs that on could go to. It is located right near public transportation and there is parking on the street on the weekends.”

• Cleaning staff were excellent and friendly.
• Desk staff were a bit aloof and unfriendly the first two days, the staff at desk on our last day were more courteous.

“This hotel should be rated as a two star hotel as it lacked some of the accommodations needed to get a rating of three star. For instance there was no swimming pool area or arcade. The hotel is suitable for business travelers not for family. The desk staff needs to be friendlier. The hotel overall was clean and rooms were comfortable. It has a nice pub "The Dubliner" next door however an attraction such as this is more for couples and not for families with young children.”

“Great small hotel close to capitol hill and National mall. It's within walking distance of MCI center and Union Station. The staff is eager to help. The overall impression is intimate and well appointed rooms. The one negative is its lack of parking facility. Though public garages are nearby. Will recommend to friends and family.”

• They charged $10/day for internet access.

“This was a nice hotel. I wouldn't have stayed here without naming my own price. Regular price was $600/night and we paid $70/night. I personally do not believe the hotel is worth $600/night. They charge $10/day for internet access when most hotels offer free internet access. If I were a business traveler I wouldn't have appreciated this. I am in school online and wanted to work on homework some but didn't because I couldn't pay the $10/day internet access. They charge $1 for local calls, 800#'s, and calling card calls. There is no price list for the mini bar. This is not a hotel for families on a budget or for the business traveler. This is a hotel for people who don't care what they spend.”

• The air is not fresh in the elevators. This is the first impression people get.

“This is good hotel for your stay in DC. The Union station is 1 block from hotel. The only thing I don't like is the parking. It costs $20 to $30 per day to park. It is not be an issue if you visit during the weekend because it's free to park off street during the weekend.”

• The location is great - right by The Capital Building, Union Station and Postal Museum.
• Rooms were small for a family of 4.

“It was a nice hotel, but it was hard to get to sleep because the Pub was located below and you could hear the music and people laughing until 2 am. The beds are really high, so for seniors it is hard to get in and out of the bed.”

• GREAT bed, nice bathroom, cozy room.
• Did not like the down pillows and down mattress pad.

“The staff was friendly and the room was significantly better than I could've expected based on my price. In fact, it was a wonderfully upscale hotel room with a large, clean bathroom, and a good bed (most hotel beds are never that good). The room was quite small - barely room for the bed, desk, and chair - but it had a nice cozy feeling. I don't know if it'd work well for two people, but it felt comforting and cozy to me. I was sad to check out! My only complaint is that they used a down comforter and mattress pad, but those were easily stripped off of the bed for a good night's sleep.”

• Relative Proximity to Tourist Activities and Staff.
• Some warning regarding parking expenses should have been given. If I knew the parking was going to be so expensive I might have taken a train from Phi.

“Although there were some adjacent streets that should be avoided due to safety concerns, its general proximity to the Capital and the Mall was an advantage. I know for a higher rate I could have stayed at the best location, however, taking the cost in to consideration, the hotel's location was adequate. The room was very small but well adorned and clean. The staff did treat everyone, including myself, like a VIP. All in all the hotel was adequate, and I probably would stay there again, but if I could afford a little more, I think I would have stayed at a higher rated hotel.”
