• The location near Union station & the Capitol is great!
• All the public areas are under major reconstruction.

“The room was fine. Nothing terribly impressive, just fine. The lobby was very chaotic with big pieces of plywood blocking areas, etc. I don't even know if the hotel has a restaurant. The room service breakfast was nice, but I thought for 2 people $54 for coffee, yogurt with granola & fruit, eggs & a piece of ham a bit steep. I'm assuming that when the construction is done, it will be much nicer. It is very misleading to give this hotel more than a couple stars at this time though.”

“Not even close to a 4 star. The lobby was under extensive and inconvenient construction. The room was adequate, but 2.5 stars would be stretching it. Service was spotty and the business center was also under construction.”

• Great location, friendly staff.
• Hotel entry and around has weird smell, I think it is from garden, it really stinks.

“Hotel is under major renovation but that does not impact your stay but then there are amenities. So if pool, conference room, business center is important to you then right now this hotel may not be good option. I would still recommend because of price, location and staff.”

• Location was quite close to attractions.
• Next door neighbor was very noisy, and repeated calls to staff were useless.

“The hotel was undergoing renovations. This is a temporary problem, and no doubt, once done, the facilities will be attractive. The room was small and economical - about what one expects from say, a Holiday Inn Express or Hilton Garden Inn, not a Hyatt Regency. The worst problem was the people in the next room. They were playing video football (or something similar). You would think it was the real super bowl, with the cheering and yelling. Several calls to the front desk achieved nothing, until finally, I told them that if they did not send someone up to quiet the room, I would do so personally, and it would be ugly - perhaps making the newspaper. This was approaching 1 AM. This motivated the night manager to do something.”

• I liked the room with its large wall mirror and comfortable bed.
• I didn't like the TV. It's time to update to a flatter, more attractive model.

• I liked how it was near everything.
• I did not like that it was under construction.

“The hotel was in a convenient location. Next to the US capitol, Subway station, and restaurants. The staff was ok, I encountered a few rude people at restaurant. I didn't like how the hotel was going through a remodeling phase, so it was a bit noisy downstairs in the lobby area.”

• When there was a problem there was service recovery.
• Public areas were under major construction.

“The hotel is well located in Capitol Hill, close to Union Station, although slightly edgy with homeless people nearby. Hotel was under major renovation and still taking customers, dust everywhere in public areas, and confusing to get to elevators. Our daughter got sick on the restaurant food but the restaurant manager compensated us with clearing the bill and sending us room service. The internet on the TV is useless.”

• Major construction project was going on in hotel lobby, made coming and going from hotel a lot less enjoyable than would normally be the case at a 4-star.

• The staff was friendly and professional. Great staff. Room was modern and clean.
• Homeless shelters and food banks surround the hotel. Many homeless were sleeping outside on the block. Hotel was under construction.

“The room was modern, clean, and very comfortable. The staff was very polite and professional. Unfortunately, the hotel is surrounded by homeless shelters and food banks with many homeless sleeping outside a block away.”

“The hotel was under a massive lobby reconstruction. There was a passage to the elevator and everything else was sealed off. It was a good location with a metro station and food court close by. I saw nothing but the room and elevator.”

“Overall pleasant. I realize they are in the midst of a major renovation. I did feel as though the staff was doing as much as they could to overcome the shortcomings due to the renovation with attentiveness. I hope the attentiveness and customer service continues after the renovation. And, yes I have stayed at that property a few times.”

• Great location, excellent recreation facility hours, clean rooms.
• Construction posed inconvenience and detracted from the quality of the hotel.

“Great location for sightseeing. Many attractions within walking distance. Good housekeeping services. Extended hours for pool and health club gives you time relax after busy day. Parking rather pricy, but location makes up for it. I expect after renovations are complete it should revert to the 4 star hotel it is billed as.”

• The staff was very nice.
• Most of the lobby was blocked off because of major renovations in the lobby. Parking costs were very high.

“The hotel staff was great but the hotel itself is undergoing major construction in the lobby. The pool and gym area is a little worn down and needs some renovating as well. The hotel is in a great location next to capital hill & Union Station. We avoided the overpriced parking by parking in a garage across the way during the day and on the street overnight. Also - street parking is free on weekends in D.C.”

“An unexpectedly average stay - arrival is confusing as lobby and 1st floor are under renovation. Parking was very expensive, but convenient. Only rooms with two beds were available, no kings. My room did not have a bath tub, which was disappointing. I did switch to a room with a tub for nights two and three, but the room was dirty when I moved into it - someone else's soap with hair on it still in the shower, someone else's box of donuts on the desk, etc. Unusually disappointing.”

“This hotel will be great once it completes its upgrade. Right now the lobby is under construction, meaning there are no place for people to congregate, nothing pretty to look at and there is construction dust everywhere. While the rooms are clean, they need to be refurbished as the decor is getting old ad outdated.”

• For being a 4 star hotel it didn't have a refrigerator in the room, or a hot tub on the premises, and the swimming pool was freezing!

“The only good thing at this hotel is the location. The beds were sagging already, and the lobby was under terrible renovations. It was loud and difficult to get around.”

• The staff was wonderful. Very helpful front desk.
• The air conditioner didn't work well even after being fixed.

“Still under construction. The pool was way too cold! It was teeny tiny, too. Not a child friendly pool by any means. The workout areas were great. Front staff was fantastic. Close to Union Station and the Capital. Excellent breakfast but very expensive.”

• The hotel was very close to all the places that I wanted to visit on my trip.
• When we got to the hotel the room was dirty. The bathroom had not been properly cleaned.

“The staff was helpful, but I was very disappointed in the condition of the room when we got there. I was shocked that the hotel charged close to $50 a night to park there. In every other hotel that I have stayed at parking if free for the quest. The hotel did have wonderful facilities such as their gym and pool, but I just could not get passed the fact that when I got there my room was not clean.”

• The location was the best part of the hotel.
• Under construction. The place was a mess.

“This hotel is under major construction. It was not only a mess but construction began as early as 7 AM. Only 2 elevators were in operation and the noise level prevents you from sleeping past 7 AM. The valet parking is $41 plus tax and the wait for ones car was long at times. The gym was awesome but the pool is rather small and unheated. I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere until construction is completed.”

“You wouldn't even know this hotel existed if you were just driving by. Tucked quietly behind lush landscaping. This Marriot Courtyard is fabulous. Beautiful manicured lobby entrance, the inside courtyards teak benches pull in for sit among beautiful flow.”

• Extra charges for fridge, internet, local calls, everything.

“Great hotel with comfort in the room. The facilities are not quality of Hyatt. The lobby/driveway was very crowded and chaotic, the windows are paper thin that you hear everything on the street, even on the 9th floor. Too many extra charges for things like local calls, internet use, fridge in room, etc. even cheap hotels have those for free. Beds were great and pillows awesome, staff very friendly. Just too many extra charges and outside noise getting in from street level.”

• The room was very clean. The staff quickly brought a new blow dryer when mine was broken.
• The hotel was under renovation and therefore had no lobby and many facilities were not readily available.

• They were willing to make right our inconvenience when made aware of it.
• The lobby and court and areas were under construction with faulty elevators. Made it hard to find rooms.

“The hotel was ugly and under construction. With clusters of lost people at the reception desk in the basement. After getting a room with a working air conditioner on the second try, the room was comfortable. The beds were very nice. And the rooms were clean. Even though the hotel was under construction, the staff worked very hard to accommodate us and make our stay welcomed.”

“This hotel is under a major renovation and although I thought the staff handled it well it was very inconvenient to enter and exit the hotel (many steps). I think if I had known about the construction I would have stayed elsewhere. No safe in the room!”

• Construction, ridiculous parking. Fee, slow elevators were out of service.

“Early check in was no problem. Valet parking fee was extremely high ($46.00 a night). The staff were helpful. The rooms were clean. Location is close to all the D.C attractions. Room service was fast, the food was delicious, the price was to be expected (high). The lobby is under construction. There was no real lounge or restaurant, a make shift bar and restaurant is located on the eleventh floor. I would not hesitate to stay at the hotel on Capitol Hill again.”
