“I really liked where the hotel is located. Very accessible from different tourist sites and Chinatown is only a block away. Parking is excellent too. And to top it off - the receptionist is very friendly.”

• We rented a bikes, the staff parked them inside the luggage room.
• We requested a refrigerator for the room, it was dirty and smell bad.

• Great location, very clean and comfortable room, helpful staff.
• Prices for valet parking ($32 per night).

“The Renaissance falls just between the upscale three star and the deluxe four star category. No refrigerator or safe in the room, but lots of floor space, good television, comfortable bed. The location is quite good for the D.C theater district and convention center. I would recommend it highly.”

• Expensive room service.

• The restaurant 15 squares; the president's lounge.
• We wish that it had free internet access.

“The person at the check-in desk made check-in so easy. We were checking in for ourselves and for my dad/brother-in-law, who had not yet arrived. This hotel is attractive and is located within easy reach of the capitol, mall, and monuments. The restaurant and lounge offer excellent menus. Staff was friendly and helpful with directions.”

• Walking distance to where I wanted to be. Very nice room, clean/quiet.
• Could get lost going from garage to rooms to restaurant, easy to get turned around.

“Beautiful facility, very nice rooms. Excellent room service, concierge, and housekeeping staff, very friendly. Walking distance to the best sites in DC. Safe clean area. All in all exceeded my expectations.”

• The cable wasn't working and we weren't informed upon check in.

“Again, the cable wasn't working upon check in. They offered no compensation and did not even bother to tell us. Also, it is only a couple of blocks from China Town but not a safe walk to make. Will definitely need to take a cab which defeats the purpose of staying close.”

• Pool was under construction during the summer; maids knocked on door despite do not disturb sign.

• The hotel was not as close to the sights as I had hoped,.

“This hotel was even better than I had hoped for. Clean rooms, very comfortable beds. Hallways well lit and very clean. Had a great view from our 8th floor corner room. Staff could not have been more helpful. The only disappointment was how far we were from the monuments and white house. However for those who could not make the walk there were both subways and buses nearby.”

“This hotel seemed to have a great deal of business travelers. The staff was friendly & helpful, beds very comfortable and clean but there were no "quick" food places real close except Starbucks. The room service was great and very quick with excellent food! I would recommend this hotel as a great place to stay in DC!”

• Cleanliness, comfortable bed, friendly staff, convenient location.
• Drink machine empty entire time; visited 3 floors before finding one. Missed having fluffy bathrobe.

“Comfortable room and bed with lots of pillows. Colors bright and cheery with a street view. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Location very convenient with a tour bus-stop right at the curb. The hair dryer was broken but immediately replaced upon notification. One of the entrance card/keys did not work. After having the housekeeper try it too, had to go back to the front desk for replacement which was handled promptly. Would have liked the extra touch of a fluffy bath robe but not available. Lots of fire engines and street drilling in the early morning but I'm an early riser so it was not too disruptive. Would stay here again. I would recommend if you don't plan to sleep late in the morning.”

• A little further from the national mall than what I hoped for, but no big deal.

• Conveniently located to Metro, White House, Smithsonian and restaurants.
• Paid internet access from noon to noon is unusual.

“Our room was comfortable, clean and spacious. The fitness center was well equipped. Location was convenient to the Metro, White House, The Mall, Smithsonian museums, monuments, restaurants and shopping. Despite being a large convention hotel, the service was excellent and we wouldn't hesitate to stay again in the future.”

“Hotel is under renovation, a bit loud and not much Gym, no pool or public areas. Rooms were nice and comfortable. For Arlington the location was great.”

“An excellent value. Close to Chinatown. Three blocks to Metro. Circle bus picks up at hotel. A very clean hotel, with courteous staff. Only ate in the bar, but food was very good.”

• We were very close to Union Station.
• The valet was quite unfriendly.

“This hotel was perfect for our purposes 2 blocks from the International Spy Museum and a short cab ride to Union Station. Our room was lovely and the beds very comfortable. Our view was that of a parking lot, but it was neat to be able to see the tip of the Washington Monument and White House from our window. Unfortunately, that meant we also got a good bit of street noise which kept us up most of the night. We were not pleased to find that the pool was being demolished, but I guess pools are not a staple in DC hotels. The lobby was nicely appointed and well staffed. Front desk, concierge and restaurant staff was very pleasant and the food in both restaurants was excellent but the valet took more than 45 minutes to get my car and was quite arrogant and impolite as well. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.”

• The hotel beds were extremely comfortable.
• Restaurant was a little pricey - although the food was good.

“Nice lobby, friendly staff, very comfortable beds with extra pillows. Easy access to the Metro (about a 2 or 3-block walk). The hotel obviously caters to the convention/business traveler, but they were kind to our boys (ages 10 and 12). One of the security guards went out of his way to speak to the boys and get them to smile. Small items - like the complementary shampoo and soaps - were of higher quality. Beautiful granite counter top in the bathroom. Parking was easy and accessible. We parked our car on the day we arrived and didn't move it until we left after we checked out. A sign indicated that the fitness facility and pool were undergoing a renovation. My husband inquired about the pool upon check-in. The front desk said they didn't have a pool. We kept so busy there wasn't any time for a leisurely swim. We would stay in this hotel again!”

• It was an amazing piece of history in D.C.
• Staff was rude.

“Overall, I was happy with the stay, unfortunately we went to another hotel which was further away from where we wanted to be in D.C. But we managed as flexible travelers do. Also, some of the staff was rude and mean, maybe etiquette training could be useful.”

• Close to the museums and the Mall.
• Not much for nightlife, beds are too soft.

“A typical Marriott, with modern lobby, standard size rooms, close to Convention Center and the Mall. Nothing especially memorable, but has everything you need: restaurant, Starbuck, underground parking (not too expensive for DC). There are a number of good restaurants nearby: Ruth Chris, McCormick's and Schmick, a Japanese and Turkish ones. Also, Chinatown is 2 blocks away. This is up and coming area, but not the Georgetown, yet.”

• The bed was comfortable.
• Small rooms, homeless people sleeping outside.

“The cab pulls up, we unload our own luggage, open our own door, while the staff watches. Upon seeing the room, we were very disappointed in the room's size and cleanliness. The room felt cluttered and dirty. The television was fairly new but everything else seemed out dated. The pool was under construction. Room service menu was lacking in variety. The hotel is situated two blocks from the Metro station, two blocks of loitering homeless people asking you for money so they can buy a sandwich. Although this stay was not bad, it was definitely the most disappointing we have experienced in the DC area.”
