• Location - close to Penn Quarter and Metro.
• Location - there was a busy crowd across the street at night for a club.

“The Courtyard by Marriott Convention Center is very conveniently located in the Pennsylvania Quarter neighborhood - across from the Spy Museum and the Portrait Gallery/American Art Museum, and an easy walk to the Penn Quarter restaurants and Gallery Place/Chinatown Metro. The room was clean though a bit small. Hotel staff was very friendly and accommodating. Elevators required the room key to get upstairs - this is good for security. A breakfast buffet was available (for a cost), though I didn't try it.”

• This hotel is clean, beautiful and close to everything.
• Overnight parking is expensive.

“This hotel is clean, modern, spacious and comfortable. Plus, it's close to all major tourist attractions and the Metro Station. The in-room dining food was delicious and the service was fast! The only draw back is overnight parking is expensive - but I guess it's typical since there really isn't anywhere to park in DC.”

“The staff was very helpful. The valet parking was our only option, but the cost was too much to have your car parked along one of the streets. Overall, the hotel was comfortable and the staff was great!”

• Terrific location - reasonable price.
• The front entrance was under construction; the breakfast buffet was not great.

• This was a reasonably priced hotel located within walking distance of most of Washington DC's must see museums and historical landmarks.
• The cleaning lady showed up at 8:30 a.m. and woke us from our sleep.

“Our stay at this hotel was short, but it was an enjoyable experience. The hotel is very clean and located within walking distance of all the major monuments in DC, a bustling neighborhood with some great restaurants around.”

• The mattress hurt my back and the rooms were very small.

• Our room did not get cleaned. We arrived late, did not go out until 1pm and hotel staff was cleaning rooms, their excuse linen truck didn't arrive.

“The room and fixtures are updated. The room was clean when we arrived. I didn't go out until 1:00 pm and saw a maid cleaning another room. When we came back late in the day we found that our room wasn't cleaned. Called for towels and their excuse was that the linen truck hadn't arrived. I have never had my room not cleaned before. We had trouble sleeping the heating system ran all the time we either too hot or too cold. There was not an extra blanket available in the room.”

• Black-Out curtains didn't block the sun in the morning.

“I've stayed at this hotel before and am always impressed with the quality of the staff and accommodations. Although inside the rooms and halls, it is pretty typical Courtyard products/furnishings, because this is a renovated historic bank building, the architecture in the lower level and lobby is unlike anything I've experienced for a Courtyard by Marriott.”

• It is conveniently located to all of the major attractions. Best location!
• Rooms are a bit small.

“Overall, I was very pleased with this hotel for these reasons: (1)The staff is so friendly, professional and eager to assist it's guests; (2)The hotel is very clean and organized; (3)It is very close to the major attractions; (4) one block away from the metro line, so there is no need to rent a car and spend extra money on parking and such; and(4) I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone.”

“Great location: 3 mins from Metro and 15 from airport by Metro. Convenient! Renovated old bank with beautiful marble staircase and old bank vault as dining room. Outstanding health facility. Are you sure this is only 2 star? Staff well trained and very friendly. Overall a great experience. I used to manage Four Seasons hotels, and Marriott is exceptional.”

• The bed was extremely comfortable and the location was perfect.
• The valet was much unorganized.

“Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our time. The location was perfect and the bed was extremely comfortable. The only aspect we did not find to be above average was the valet for the cost; you would expect the service to be great. They were much unorganized.”

“This is a great hotel for those doing business in the Capitol Hill area - just two stops away on the Metro. The location is perfect, near some good restaurants as well. It's a business hotel, so don't expect to have a romantic or family weekend.”

• Room was small, had to pay $24 a night for parking.

“The staff was great, very accomodating! It was a short 4 block walk to the museums and the middle of the national mall, awesome location! Good restaurant choices nearby. The room was on the small side for a Marriot due to the old building which used to be a bank. Having to pay $24 a day for parking really. Especially when the other Marriot we stayed at in the area gave free parking.”

• The room was attractive and comfortable. It had all the amenities that I needed plus a friendly staff.
• Can not think of anything. Marriott's generally live up to their reputation.

• The location was great, and the personnel were extremely helpful.
• The method of utilizing the elevator with the key card is faulty, and slowed things up.

“I know the building was a bank retrofitted as a hotel, so there were odd things in the structure, but the idea of a sink outside of the bathroom is a bit weird. One wonders how well the door handle of the bathroom is cleaned. Also, that security system for using the elevator is terrible. It was clean, and as I said above, everyone was extraordinarily polite and helpful.”

• Smokey smell in room. Non-smoking facility.

“I really liked the free use of computer station and the free breakfast buffet. Buffet would be nice to have something different once in a while. Like biscuits and sausage gravy or some scrambled or hard boiled eggs. The room was very nice and clean. Had problems with several electrical outlets including the hairdryer outlet. Had to dry hair at the desk area. Room had been smoked in even though it was a smoke free hotel.”

• I liked that the staff was friendly and efficient. They helped us find our way about and found my Mom's ring she left when checking out & returned it

“This hotel was great and I would gladly stay there again. The outside patio of the attached restaurant was excellent and enjoyable. The hotel brunch had a very good selection and pleasant staff. It was so convenient. I thoroughly enjoyed my staff.”

• Great location, the hotel was very attractive, we were pleasantly surprised.

“The hotel is close to the downtown area, in a safe, well lit neighborhood. It is close to three separate Metro stops, with a good selection of great restaurants. The hotel had been a bank at one time, and there were marble stairways, and plenty of brass fixtures. The hotel had 4 star charm, at a 2 1/2 star cost!”

• It being in an old bank building with the safe still in tact as a board room.
• Lack of room service when promised.

“Nothing went right on this visit. The valet for my car couldnt answer a simple question; the desk person had to ask a manager for a simple question, there was no room service when the hotel amenities booklet said it would be available. All in all a nice place but very poor service.”

• Great location, nice facilities, quite despite downtown location, near subway and tourist attractions.
• Nightclub crowd out on the street (across the street) detracted from the exterior environment.

“This Courtyard was quiet and comfortable, as well as centrally located, near the subway and a few museums and bus tours. Comfy beds and pillows, and clean rooms. Gordon Biersch restaurant downstairs was great.”

• Valet parking required because of strict parking guidelines in area, valet parking took a long time to retrieve car.

“I enjoyed the breakfast buffet both mornings there. The staff was excellent, very kind, friendly, and willing to answer questions and give directions. The restaurant attached to the hotel had delicious food though the acoustics of the room was very noisy.”

• The entire hotel staff was excellent, very courteous and helpful as well.
• I thought that the parking was too expensive per night.
