• Location was terrific, near the Metro and many sights. The hotel was also very clean.
• Lighting in bathroom was poor. Exhaust fan was non existent.

“The hotel was beautiful, very well located for sightseeing and cultural events. Much to see within walking distance and close to the Metro for long distance travel. On the down side, parking was extremely expensive.”

• The location is close to all attraction which is great.
• Hotel is not so family friendly; lacks pool; it is very business like.

“This is a good hotel for business but it is not amenable to family or romantic vacations. There is no pool and it would be great if it had one. The hotel is also very loud.”

“It was in an excellent location for subway, walking or bus travel. Many historic sites within walking distance, or Subway was in basement of hotel. Nice swimming pool and a Starbucks in lobby for breakfast.”

• The hotel is great, staff was outstanding.
• You could not use the luggage cart without a bellmen.

• The hotel interior really surprised me. It was more than I expected.
• I did not like having to pay to use the GYM. That should be included in the price for the room. Very untactful.

• The front desk staff was helpful, respectful, and very friendly.
• No wine glasses in the room.

“The Grand Hyatt Washington was a perfect place to stay for my purposes. Great location, great service and a nice, big comfortable room overlooking the interior of the hotel. Like most 4 star hotels, you are nickel and dimmed a little (health club, bottled water, etc), but for a quick two night business stay, it was great.”

“I recently visited Washington DC for a business trip with the firm I work for. I was staying at the Double Tree hotel before a conference when I realized that I had left my bag of prescriptions back at home and was starting to feel sick. I called the front desk to be connected to the local hospital. Instead they referred me to a service they had called On site that sends a doctor from GW Hospital to me. Instead of spending my night in the ER waiting to see a doctor, I was seen in the comfort of my own hotel room and got the prescriptions I needed. I have got to say I was impressed and relieved by the service I received.”

“I was a chaperone for a group of about 100, and the hotel accommodated all of us wonderfully. The rooms were wonderful and all of the students enjoyed themselves. We had the buffet for breakfast and that would be the only thing I would complain about. The eggs were practically raw, none of the meat was even remotely warm, and the fruit wasn't very fresh. Other than that everything was fabulous. All the students liked the fact that there was a Starbucks in the lobby.”

• Unclean, poor follow up, air conditioning did not keep up.

“This was not a four star hotel. My room had a damp and moldy carpet. I developed an allergic reaction and was moved to a new room. When I turned back the sheets I found a beetle in them. There was no follow up for two days however the concierge did go out at night and get some bendadryl for me. Also there is an additional fee for everything from Internet to use of the pool. ”

• Restaurant menu limited, rooms not what I'd consider 4 star; fee charged for use of pool.

“Access to the Metro is through an indoor passage way from the hotel, definitely a plus. Chinatown is an easy 3 block walk away. The room amenities were not what I would have expected from a 4 star hotel. There was mildew on the tub tile grout. The menu at Via Pacifica was heavy on seafood, and offered nothing for children or true vegetarians. Also, it was very expensive.”

“The subway station REALLY is underneath the hotel, and there's one exclusive exit that leads into the hotel lobby. There's one trolley old town tours stop just in front the hotel. I ordered food Ice cream and sandwich from room service and the portions are HUGE and delicious. The hotel is within a short walking distance from Chinatown, which is a nice shopping area. For sure, the subway station underneath the lobby was the thing ever. I was traveling alone and felt very safe all the time. Washington DC is wonderful and the hotel I stayed too. ”

• professional, polite staff; great pub/bar; great pillows!
• as with the CapHill hotel, its mildly annoying that at a first class hotel there is a charge to use the work-out facilities.

“Great location; take the Metro in from the airport if you don't have much luggage..Very warm, welcoming property; room service excellent as is the entire staff.We were there when a convention of teenagers was going on; while the kids were loud and boisterous at times, the staff handled things beautifully, always friendly and courteous.”

• Everything costs extra, to use the pool you have to pay $7 per person per day

“I highly recommend this hotel which has beautiful facilities and excellent location!!- - - but stay away from the parking garage that is next door. They are very expensive and overcharged us when we left. We were charged 48 hours for the 30 hours we actually stayed there.”

• The location is within walking distance a lot of sights.
• On weekends, not many places within a block or so to grab a bite. Valet parking expensive.

“This hotel is within walking distance of Chinatown, MCI center, the museums and many other sights. On weekends, alot of nearby eateries are closed. The rooms are clean and the employees are courteous. While the parking is expensive, we found the valets very attentive and never had a problem. Would definitely stay at this place again.”

• The surrounding area was a bit run down

“Our stay at Grand Hyatt, D.C. made our vacation more memorable. The fountain at the lobby was so calming and inviting especially after coming from a very strenuous tour of the city. The room was clean and neatly decorated. The staff were very friendly and thanks to them for providing us excellent service and assistance from check-in to check-out. I will always consider Grand Hyatt, D.c. in my future vacation plans and will definitely recommend it to anybody. I give this hotel 5 stars!!!!!! As a matter of fact, I've shared my experience with at least 6 people already.”

• The subway from airport drop you off right under the hotel.
• I don't feel the hotel should have been rated a 4 star hotel.

“Beautiful hotel with nice rooms. We booked two rooms for four people and when we checked in the hotel clerk asked if we would like adjoining rooms. I was not expecting this and was pleasantly surprised by the great service. The food was great too!”
