  • Beautiful location.

“We loved the location. Our only complaint was the lack of family restaurants. We ate at the museum restaurants and that was costly. The hotel was beautiful, it was our best stay thus far through Priceline.”

  • Very close to all the monuments, museums and White House (walking distance)
  • Parking is $40 per day!

“Nice hotel, very busy (in a shopping center). Walking distance to all monuments, museums, White House. Our room was on the first floor next to the maid's closets and the ice machines so, not the best room experience, but it was clean and nice enough. Parking charges are ridiculously expensive, found a cheaper self-parking garage around the corner.”

  • It did not have complimentary coffee in the lobby.

“Excellent. The elevators were very different then normal and I liked them. The staff was very friendly, from the cleaning staff, security, front desk and lobby. We had never been to DC so we had lots of questions and needed advise. It was given easily and it was correct.”

  • At 5'11" , 214 lbs, I found the beds in my room too small.

“This is a great place to stay if you are in DC, the quality of the hotel, the efficiency of the staff and the feeling of welcome was fantastic. My only problem is check out time. Even the late check out of 1:00 pm as opposed to normal 12:00 pm check out was very inconvenient for me.”

  • The hotel concierge and bell hops were excellent. The beds are super comfortable. The lobby is beautiful and the location is perfect for sightseeing.
  • The room seemed a bit small.

“This hotel exceeded our expectations. It is centrally located in the heart of downtown D.C. Walking distance to major attractions like the White House and Lincoln Memorial. We could see the top of the Washington Memorial from our hotel room. The lobby and rooms are beautiful, beds and sheets are comfy (they have feather bedding) and the staff bent over backwards. Stay here for sure if you want to be comfortable with the extra amenities of a nice hotel. We did not have time to use the workout facility, but we checked it out and it was really clean. They even have saunas. The perfect place to stay and see D.C. in style.”

  • Lobby and decor were beautiful.
  • Hotel staff was not helpful.

“The hotel was beautiful, but our experience was horrible! After a long conference, all we wanted to do was rent a movie and get room service. However, the televisions were out. When we called the front desk, we were told that there was a storm outside and that the hotel was out. Since we had just come from outside, we knew that it was not even raining. We had to initiate any phone call and after two hours of back and forth were still told that the TVs were all out. We found it interesting because the rooms across the way had their TVs working! I understand these things happen, but at least be honest about it! An annoying experience.”

“Had a great time at the JW Marriott. The room was small but very comfortable, view was great and the bed was amazing. I can't say enough about the location of this hotel, the monuments were close enough to walk to them, and we felt very safe about walking the DC streets any time of night. In one word. Phenomenal!”

  • Elegant, clean, conveniently located and Starbuck's in lobby!

“Everything you would hope for and expect in a luxury hotel. Elegant, spacious, quiet, hospitable and conveniently located. I loved that Starbuck's was right in the lobby. Since we didn't dip into the room's snack bar (though tempting), our check-out was automatic--nothing to do. Finally, getting down to pet peeves: we were never disturbed by, or even aware of, housekeeping. Everything was kept elegant and beautiful by invisible means. It doesn't get better than that.”

  • The room service was extremely slow. I called three times over the course of an hour to ask for a bottle opener and ended up having to go down myself.

“Overall, this hotel was excellent. The only problem was that the service wasn't the best. I asked for a bottle opener and had to wait almost 2 hours but finally ended up going downstairs myself to get it from the restaurant. Other than that, the hotel was beautiful and an excellent choice.”

  • The staff was wonderful! Always way beyond courteous and helpful The best!
  • Ate at the restaurant twice, had two bad experiences. But staff tried to make it right.

“Would I stay at the J.W. Marriott again? Absolutely. The staffers are way above average in courtesy and helpfulness. This was my first stay there, and I understand that the hotel has recently been totally remodeled. Very nice job! My only complaint is with the restaurant. We ate there twice, and had bad experiences both times. However, I will hasten to add that when we pointed out the problems, the staff swiftly and apologetically attempted to correct them. I do think, though, that there are some serious quality control issues in their kitchen which need to be addressed immediately. But if you can plan to eat all of your meals somewhere off premises (and that's not too hard), I would heartily recommend this hotel.”

  • Friendly staff. Close proximity to everything. Clean room.
  • Everything was excellent.

“This hotel was recently renovated and it shows. Everything was clean and updated. In fact, when we were staying there we remarked how nice and large the LG TV was in our room. The next morning we woke up to find a box next to every door in the hallway even though the TV in our room was only 2 years old; they were updating again and putting brand new larger TVs in the room. The view from our bedroom window was the Washington Monument. The hotel is within walking distance of the Smithsonian Museums, the White House, the Capitol Building and just about all of the memorials (Lincoln, WWII, Korean, Vietnam). We found a great place (reasonably priced) for a quick breakfast or lunch, just around the corner (Corner Bakery). The staff; I could go on for hours about how well the staff treated us. We were celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary on the day we arrived. Upon our return to our room, from site-seeing we were greeted with an imported bottle of wine and 6 chocolate covered cherries. This made our evening very special and was a wonderful ending to a fantastic day of touring. The elevators are very different/fun/efficient, instead of pushing the floor button after getting inside, you push the floor button on the outside and are directed to either door B, C, D, E or F. This elevator takes you directly to your floor without stopping at any other floors efficiently. Wonderful hotel, fantastic staff, great location!”

“We were treated like royalty from the moment we drove up. Everyone from the parking attendant, to the bellman, to the front desk was very friendly and accommodating. Our room had a wonderful view of the Washington Monument. The front desk supervisor surprised us with a card congratulating us on our 35th wedding anniversary, along with an imported bottle of wine and 6 chocolate covered strawberries, which made our first evening at the hotel very special. The king size bed was very comfortable and the room was spotless. Location. As stated earlier the Washington Monument was visible right outside of our window ~ that's because it was only a couple blocks away, along with the White House, all of the Smithsonian Museums and many of the memorials (WWII, Vietnam, Korean, Lincoln, etc) The elevator was fun and efficient ~ you pushed the floor number on the outer wall and it would direct you to the elevator door B, C, D, E or F that would take you directly to your floor without stopping on the way. Just around the corner from the hotel is the Corner Bakery ~ a nice place for a quick breakfast and quite reasonably priced. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Washington DC as a tourist or for business.”

“The Marriott exceeded our needs and the staff was overboard in taking care of us. My father was in a wheel-chair and the room was excellent for him. They provided us with connecting suites so we could watch over my parents with ease. The hotel supplied all our additional requests with regard to a bedside commode for my father and a separate refrigerator for our cold beverages, etc. They were all amazing and we would have no problem recommending them for anyone in any kind of circumstance. Check in and check out was simple. They even allowed us an early arrival and a late departure at no extra charge. The rooms were beautiful and very clean, beds were extremely comfortable and our experience with any of the staff was incredibly wonderful! They deserve as many stars as they can get!”

  • Exceptional location to everything in DC.
  • I asked the concierge a good place to eat seafood, and he gave me a look (yes, I have some chunk in the trunk) and recommended a place with a buffet.

“After the first wrong steer, the concierge gave me on directions. I was hesitant to go to this place but decided to try it. I went to the place, he recommended against my better judgement (and the backhand insult), thinking surely it was good food, not just quantity as I specifically mentioned, crab cakes, and shrimp, something like Hougate's, and it was a special night and not because it did have a large buffet. It did have a buffet of poor quality food. I hated that I paid an arm and a leg for that when DC. Maryland and surrounding vicinity have several good seafood places. That was the second time he gave wrong advice. If it wasn't for him, I would have given a 10+ rating for the performance of hotel staff, as the rest were excellent from check-in, to bellman, maids - all leap tall buildings with a single bound in my opinion. The doorman steered us to Zola's and Georgia Brown. And they were great places. They know the town better than the supposed expert. Anytime (which was 3 total), we asked the concierge for help. It was if we were bothering him, and he looked down his nose at us. This was not the sign of a professional, or what I remembered the last time I was at this hotel.”

“The hotel was what I had hoped for. There was only one complaint, not the hotels fault. At 5 am Saturday morning, the fire alarm went off and an announcement rang through the rooms that a fire had been spotted. Of course we all went down the stairs and as soon as we walked out of the building, everyone was walking back into the hotel. When asked what happened, the bellhop said someone lit a cigarette. Wow, what a sensitive fire alarm system. Needless to say whoever lit that cigarette deserved a beating.”
