- Clean and well maintained. Fitness center. Premier for visiting D.C.
- There wasn't really anything not to like, it was perfect.
“If you are looking for a high-end hotel in the heart of D.C. this is it. Five minute walk to the White House and not much further to other major sites. Three blocks to the Metro. Hotel service is excellent as are the amenities and cleanliness. The PERFECT place to stay in D.C.”

- They were able to switch our rooms the following night to connecting rooms.
- The price of valet parking/ no pets.
“This hotel could not have been more conveniently located to the National Mall. Great when you are traveling with three children. The staff was very helpful, the rooms were comfortable. The pool was a decent size pool, versus the little pools they usually put in hotels.”

- Great location, upscale, just what we wanted.
- Bathroom was small, in hotel restaurant overpriced.
“We had a nice stay and definitely got our money's worth. The room was nice and spacious, even if the bathroom was a little small. The linens and bedding were very soft and comfortable. As for location, it doesn't get much better. We had a view of the Washington Monument from our room and were just a few blocks from the White House. We have stayed here several times and are never disappointed.”

- Restaurants around this motel were very pricey.
“We just needed a room for the night and did not spend much time checking out the motel, but what we did see was very nice. It was more suited for a business type clientele and not a family looking for a fun getaway. It is however located close to a lot of DC historic attractions.”

- Location was perfect, the room was very comfortable. I would choose the hotel for my next trip to DC.
- When we asked about our rewards account the staff did not acknowledge our level of status with the program.
“The hotel was what I had hoped for. There was only one complaint, not the hotels fault. At 5 am Saturday morning, the fire alarm went off and an announcement rang through the rooms that a fire had been spotted. Of course we all went down the stairs and as soon as we walked out of the building, everyone was walking back into the hotel. When asked what happened, the bellhop said someone lit a cigarette. Wow, what a sensitive fire alarm system. Needless to say whoever lit that cigarette deserved a beating.”

- Great Fitness Room. Awesome Pillows on the Bed, and nice photographs on wall. Cool bay window.
- Restaurant closed too early so had to eat at lounge. Poor selection for vegetarian. Service lacked personality & slow.

- The view was spectacular.
- The rooms were a bit too small.
“My family came up to Washington to enjoy the Easter Weekend and we like to stay in the 4 and 5 star hotels. We like the quality better of the higher rated hotels. This hotel is one we will definitely visit again. The staff was warm and friendly. The decor of the hotel was beautiful. The View out our window of the Washington Monument was gorgeous. Falling asleep with that view was historical to our family. The beds made you feel as if you were totally relaxed and weightless. If you are planning a trip to Washington D.C. this is the hotel you want to stay in.”

- We enjoyed the pool and the beds were comfy.
- Our keys didn't work on the second day and I and my children had to stand outside our room (wet from swimming) for 30 min waiting for security.
“Overall the hotel was very nice. It was a great location. For a four star hotel it did lack in some areas, my husband called for his car (they tell you to call 15 in advance) and ended up waiting almost an hour, making him late for a work function. But the hotel was nice, just expected a touch more from a four star hotel, but I'm sure we'd stay there again for the right price.”

- The room was very comfortable, and the Starbucks made it easy to get good coffee in the morning.
- When we arrived, valet parking was full. We were directed to a nearby garage however which was fine.
“I have always liked and trusted the Marriott chain. This was a very nice hotel. The only challenge was the new elevator system. You push your floor from the outside area and then must get in the cab to which you're directed. You would not be able to change your mind, as there are no floor buttons inside the elevator.”

- Access to "The Shops" has now been eliminated except by expedition.
“The JEW Marriott has always been a favorite of mine since it was built in the 80's. I have not stayed here for more than 12 years because I now live in the area. It has recently completed a complete face lift and it is beautiful. However, getting to the "Shops" is now a real pain because of so many inane so-called security measures. That was difficult”

“It is a beautiful hotel, but I feel like a cog in a big chain. I had hoped for a wonderful late room service meal, but instead received what seemed like thawed pre frozen soup, appetizer and dessert with poor service and no attempt to even see if my order was complete, which is was not!”

Hotel also has it's own Starbucks located inside, a gift shop, and a restaurant. Tons of staff on hand to help with everything from luggage to dinner plans.”

“The rooms were nicely appointed with all the amenities. The staffs were super friendly. Loved the kiosk in the lobby for printing boarding passes! New elevator system was a bit odd, and the signs explaining how to use it could be clearer. Perfect location for my meetings in DC. Only real drawback is many of the restaurants and shops in the area close at night, so opportunities to explore the neighborhood were limited.”

- Phenomenal view of the monuments from our room!
- Retrieving our car from valet parking was a nightmare! Took 60-minutes!
“We loved the hotel, the location, the room (the view)! Did not expect to have the phenomenal view we had from our 14th-floor window. Looking well over the rooftops of buildings across Pennsylvania avenue, with the Washington monument appearing as if it was right outside our window! The only drawback (and it was a major one) was the valet parking situation. There's only one, very cramped driveway leading to the front doors, so you spend a fair amount of time awaiting your turn to get to the valet to unload your car. This, however, paled in comparison to our 60-minute (no joke!) Ordeal in waiting for our car to be brought to us by the severely understaffed valet parking crew (valiant though they were, it was a hotel management problem; not that of the valet parking staff). You couldn't even call ahead to get your car brought around as the valet staff was so overwhelmed they weren't even answering the phone! Awesome hotel, very, very lame valet parking for $30 a night (the only parking offered by the hotel). If you can park in a nearby self-service public garage, you're much, much better off! A sour end to what would otherwise have been an awesome stay! Wake up, Marriott Pennsylvania avenue!”

- The staff was excellent. The bed was incredibly comfortable! Room service was fast and also friendly. Location was ideal.

- Location.
- Inattentive staff. Construction work and noise everywhere. Staff neither caring nor proactive.
“The television news said there would be a taxi strike on Oct 31st. The hotel did not inform me on the evening of the 30th when I checked in, nor were they aware of the strike when I called at 6:30 am in the morning on the 31st. I was told I did not need to worry by the hotel operator. I nearly missed my train b/c it was nearly impossible to find a taxi. I suggested to the manager on duty that he send someone on the Metro with me to help me with my 3 bags -- (I couldn't manage alone) and he looked stunned at the innovative suggestion. His solution? Take a later train. Not a good one for a business traveler!”

- Great location and incredibly comfortable beds.
- Elevators under construction resulting in long waits, valet parking overfull had to park on the street.
“Great location blocks from the mall or white house in downtown dc and with all the comfort and amenities you expect from the Marriott name.”

- Location was very good.
- Couple of encounters with hotel staff was not pleasant.
“I was a little disappointed. The hotel staff was only moderately helpful. We had two occasions that were unpleasant. The first was at check in-the employee was borderline rude in asking for a credit card for "incidental charges". Next. Ii had requested a room with two double beds (vs. one king).and was told it was guaranteed. I even confirmed. A few days prior to arrival. Then was given a room with one king bed.”

- We traveled with our great uncle and JW Marriott was very accommodating to our special needs (handicap access, services i.e.).
- Everything was great.
“This hotel was one of the best hotels that our family has ever stayed. The overall experience was excellent, with special attention given our special needs (handicap access, oxygen, large room). It was very convenient to all the dc sites that we wanted to share with our great uncle. I was very satisfied.”

- The room was nice, location good, and bed fantastic.
- Their lobby renovation according was still ongoing.
“Overall I enjoyed the hotel, and would recommend it to others. I would say if the lobby was not being renovated I would have enjoyed the stay significantly more.”

- Gorgeous view of Penn. Ave, comfy beds, plasma TV, plush robes.
- The elevators are a little tricky.
“This hotel was absolutely lovely. The room was amazing; the location was excellent, very modern decor, convenient. Staff was nice. I think it's great for business travelers, but it's great for anybody really. Safe to walk around at night. Awesome hotel.”
