• Beds, sheets, and pillows were very comfortable. Room was very attractive.
• Pool closed and $10 parking per night.

“Very comfortable and clean feeling beds, sheets and soft pillows. Room very attractive, great decor and clean. Lobby carpet was a bit stained in the lobby and the elevators appeared old and rickety/dirty, even though I saw staff cleaning them. Pool was closed for renovations. Location was very convient to downtown shopping mall and Metro. Overall, it was a very good experience with helpful and friendly staff. Parking of $10 seemed like it should have been included in the room rate, but other than that and the pool, we had a great time there.”

• Pool was closed, not available to us, and additional parking fees to stay in the hotel parking facility.

“The restaurant was adequate at best and the pool was closed. Had they stated the pool was seasonal and not open until June, we definitely would have chosen another hotel. I needed an additional bed for my daughter. I asked that since the pool wasn't available, and that the pool was the main reason we stay at this hotel, that they comp the bed. They didn't. They offered 3 breakfast comps to the bed. I was tired of arguing with the staff and took the breakfasts, but still. Had I not been a paying guest, but someone off the street, I can understand the parking fees, but I feel the parking should be included as part of guest services, not as an additional charge.”

• Location-close to everything. Also free shuttle.
• No fridge or microwave in room. Gym is run-down. Lifts and doors don't work.

“Location is within walking distance to city center and free shuttle makes it easy to get anywhere. Only one shuttle so expect to wait 15-20 minutes to get it. No fridge in room. Gym equipment is run down, and a few are not working at all. Pool is outdoor and not heated. Lift card readers and room card readers don't work. TV is miniscule. Windows are small. Internet is very slow, one DSL connection is shared by the entire hotel. It isn't even cable, and max download speed is 80 KB on a good day and 0 KB on a bad day. Internet went down totally multiple times. The wireless router does not work with my laptop wireless card and I ad to get a USB wireless to Ethernet bridge (provided by the hotel free) to get access to the internet. On the plus side, it's clean, it's convenient, there is a 7-eleven across the road, the staff are friendly and it is a safe area. Don't regret staying there. Also note $10 per day for parking. Please contrast to the next hotel.”

• No concierge. Desk help knew very little about the area.

“The bed was comfortable but you are really on your own in the hotel. They seemed short on staff who could give you answers to questions about the area. Not a place for tourists who need help, as in where to go for dinner etc.”

• A little off the beaten path.

“A small clean hotel near d.c. metro station (red line). Pool only open in summer, $10 self parking or $12 valet, a hotel that is nice for 1 or 2 days. Hotel is more for business traveler than families.”

• Pool only open in summer (outdoor), elevators had issues.

“Convenient to metro, 8 miles from DC, safe area, lots of dining options in neighborhood, friendly staff, especially the valets. Check pool opening dates if pool is important to you. Elevators need work, key card does not always work to get you to your floor, but if you try a few times, it will work. Would stay there again.”

• Location to Metro was convenient. Location to Silver Spring Downtown Shopping district and restaurants was very convenient.
• Room key had to be reeked three times during stay. Another customer entered the room with a key on the 3rd day.

“What you see is what you get. Convenient, friendly, reasonably clean. Convenient to Silver Spring Downtown which was only one block away. Convenient to Metro which was three blocks away.”

“This hotel was quite comfortable. The price for parking was reasonable, and I especially liked the free high-speed internet. I find it odd that moderate hotels offer it free, yet better hotels like this one usually charge a fee for it. I think the Crowne Plaza did this right and hope they're setting a trend. I had a couple of problems with the room - bedspread was dirty, and toilet stopped up. Both were handled well and resolved immediately. Though it would have been better had they not occurred, I was very pleased with the outcome and do not hold this against the hotel.”

• The design and layout of the rooms.
• The hallway areas.

“Hotel was set just outside of downtown Silver Spring. Parking garage was a bit tight and there were staff cars parked in the way making it difficult to clear the cement walls. I have never been to a hotel which did not have free parking for its' patrons. The rooms were very nice and very clean. Wi-Fi was truly free and easy to set up. There was a couch, an armchair, a desk, a table, a bed, and two night stands. My room was placed right outside the elevator which was a bit disturbing. Hallways were dingy and smoky even though all the rooms on the floor were non-smoking.”

• Room choice (king) was not available, took long time to check in.

“I had stayed here before many years ago and it has been renovated and is much nicer than before. The decor and overall ambience (a little dark and cheap looking) are not very good.”

• The heating in the rooms was a major problem.

“The heat in the hotel rooms was extremely harsh, we were unable to sleep and had constant nose bleeds due to the suffocating heat, even with the heat off the rooms were unbearable. We complained constantly and the maintenance people were unable to resolve, moving to another room was not an option since other guests had same problems. The front desk staff were excellent.”

• Nice room, restaurant served good food, staff very helpful and business center adequate.
• Valet service. Personnel need to understand English. Very upset about that.

“A nice hotel with an assortment of restaurants within a two block walk. Hotel staff very helpful. The parking area had a six foot height limitation. That should be advertised. I had to use valet service and did not want to do to using a government vehicle. I had to take items mounted in the vehicle that caused me minor issues.”

• The rooms were spacious and clean.
• They allowed a party on the 4th floor to disturb all patrons until 1:00 am!

“The hotel itself was fine; the room was spacious and clean, wireless internet was included, and I used the workout room which was small, but nice. They charged $10/night for parking, which they did not mention until we tried to leave the garage the first time. The staff was mostly friendly. The location was very convenient, but bordering on a not-so-great neighborhood in D.C. We only had one issue: although we alerted management that it was quite disturbing, they allowed a party to rage on in the 4th floor (conference rooms) which could be heard throughout the hotel until 1:00 am - even in our 11th floor room! This kept us from getting a good night's sleep the first night, and after driving 8+ hours, we were not happy. The rest of the stay was quiet, for which we are grateful. In all, I would stay there again (as long as there are no parties planned!).”

• The restaurant manager remembered my name and that made me feel so welcome!
• The handicap accessible shower was not user friendly.

“Overall my stay was fantastic and the service was amazing! This is the 3rd time staying in the hotel and each time has been very comfortable and the staff ultra hospitable. I drove in from NC and when I arrived I asked for an early check in to refresh and prepare for a job interview in the city. I was offered a handicap accessible room as there was only one or two other rooms available. I agreed but when I got into the room, I noticed that the shower was not user friendly or wide enough and had to stand almost up against the wall to avoid having the shower curtain stuck to my body. I cannot see how a person with disabilities would have an easy time with that shower or bathroom. Other than that, my stay was great! I would recommend this hotel to anyone who asks!”

• The staff was great.
• Cheesy wallpaper, old heating unit, hard bed linen.

“This hotel had great staff. The wallpaper was a bit cheesy and the bed linen felt hard. The hotel was very clean except for the beer bottles some drunken people left on the elevator and by the walkway to the bar. I would go to this hotel again.”

• Very small bathroom in the room and no microwave for our 5 day stay.

“We travel as a family with my husband who is on business. This is a great business persons hotel in a fantastic location near lots of shopping restaurants, parks, library, movie theatre, etc. But not especially family friendly with free breakfast or a room microwave.”
