“This was an excellent hotel with all the amenities of a 4 star, plus new furniture, new bathrooms, new carpet, excellent staff, 2 lounges, excellent location, valet parking, plus easy routes into the city and to the hotel and out of the city.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Julia from Centreville, MD
“On the service end, I can understand the 4 star rating, but the room was just a regular hotel room nothing special or elegant, though it was very clean. I expected more luxury.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Shaday from Boston, MA
“This hotel did not cover my expectations of four stars. It is a very small hotel with no facilities and very poor service. The location is not bad but this would fit better in a 3-star hotel.” Apr 13, 2008 by
Sharron from Stockbridge, GA
“Lovely experience. The decor and staff were perfect (and I don't use that word to describe hotels often). I hope to stay at The Madison again next year when we take another grandchild to experience DC.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Kelly from Supply, NC
“The Madison was a great place to stay for our family visit to DC. The staff was very eager to assist us, the rooms were spotless, even if a little smaller than expected. Wish there had been ice machines on the halls and the parking fee was way too high.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Nick from Williamsburg, VA
“This hotel has a great staff. If you appreciate customer service, it's hard to beat this place. The rooms are well appointed and there are lots of nice touches to make your stay more comfortable. The lounge and restaurant are top notch and also have outstanding service. I recommend this hotel highly.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Maureen from Evanston, IL
“Some charm, small bathroom. Nicely appointed rooms. I didn't find their restaurant for casual dining very welcoming for a solo woman traveler, it is really a bar. I opted for room service which was very pricey.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Joel from Fortson, GA
“Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! We couldn't find hotel at first so I called the hotel and the gentleman stayed on the phone with me until we pulled up to the front door. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Everything was clean and sparkling! Parking fees should be clearly explained up front. But they were nice even about this, making an adjustment in our billing.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Orbitalize from New York, NY
“This is a delightful hotel located within walking distance of many DC attractions. Although a bit small, this hotel has a beautiful and modern lobby which has excellent servicemen. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are okay with a smallish room (We kept banging into the desk and chair!). But everything else was pleasant. I always love hotels that give out free fruit during the day! That's delightful!” Apr 2, 2008 by
Tara from Farmersville, OH
“The staff was friendly and kind to my kids. The hotel was clean. Every shower we had hot water. They turned down our beds nightly. We would go back. The location was great. I would recommend staying there.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Noel from Germantown, MD
“It was beautiful and the staff was extremely curious and helpful.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Maureen from Fayetteville, NC
“The Madison was a very nice hotel in a convenient area for seeing the Washington sites. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. Everyone was very friendly. The room was a little small for a family of four, but we didn't spend much time there. The hotel's location made up for the room size. We were three blocks from the Metro. The only issue we had with the room was there was a bar of soap that had been used by a previous guest still in the shower when we first got to the room.” Mar 30, 2008 by
Tommy from Hobbs, NM
“Overall location of hotel was very convenient to subway, white house, and national mall. Fitness facility was excellent and staff was very courteous. However, we had a lot of problems with our room. Room was very small. Had issues with simple things like number of towels, bed sheets not being in good shape, torn pillows, and other things that should never happen for a four star or higher hotel. I was disappointed in the room overall during my trip.” Mar 28, 2008 by
David from Sharpsburg, GA
“I would recommend this hotel. It is clean, convenient, good value, and one of the friendliest staffs I have encountered in a hotel.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Ivan from New York, NY
“The Madison Hotel is in a good location in central Washington, convenient to historical sites, restaurants and museums. The service is friendly and accommodating. The room was spacious and the bed was very comfortable. I would stay at the Madison again when I return to Washington.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Jeff from Hallandale, FL
“Hotel is an okay location probably better for business than leisure. Closer to 3 star in room due to the fact there was no coffeemaker or safe, which is standard at a four star or many 3 stars. The walls are very thin in the hotel. We found the food excellent in the restaurant for breakfast but the service very slow.” Mar 24, 2008 by
Mark from Eldersburg, MD
“The accommodations were great, nice amenities, flat panel TVs in rooms. The open/public areas were very comfortable, and attractively decorated. Staff was great. Location not far from the White House, mall and other attractions.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Cheril from Saint Michaels, MD
“A wonderful place to stay. Turned my ankle and ended up staying in for a day while my husband went sightseeing. The management sent lunch up on a silver tray as a gift from the hotel. Our room also had a wonderful massage therapy lounge chair. We will be back.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Katie from Madison, NJ
“The Madison was clean, nice bar and very friendly staff. It was a great experience and I would go back there again for sure.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Lisa from Pittsburgh, PA
“The room was pleasant, a little small. We had 5 people in the room and asked for a rollaway bed. At first we were told it was too crowded and they wouldn't bring one up but after some convincing, housekeeping came to the room and checked it out. We were able to push the beds closer to the wall and put the rollaway in between the 2 queen beds. That was our only hitch to the whole trip. Bathrooms were clean but water pressure in the shower wasn't strong enough for my taste. Beds were very comfortable! Parking was valet and cost $35/day which I thought was a little high. I would have been happy with the most of $25/day. Close to 2 metro stops so we had easy access to all parts of the city.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Pat from Lead, SD
“A welcoming and relaxing place that I will return to and recommend to my friends and colleagues with business in Washington. Very modern and convenient, with a wonderful restaurant, business center, fitness rooms, beautiful comfortable sleeping rooms and tremendous service from housekeeping to front desk.” Mar 3, 2008 by
Bob from Grand Rapids, MI
“The Madison is a recently refurbished full service business hotel. The meeting rooms are somewhat dated in style and the space somewhat constricted. However, the staff was enthusiastic and very competent. Location is quite safe and within short walk of a number of good restaurants and services.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Crystal from Spokane Valley, WA
“The hotel was really nice and centrally located in Downtown DC. For the price of the room per night, there should have been a continental breakfast offered. Evidently, most restraunts were closed in Downtown DC on Sunday's, so we had a difficult time finding someplace to eat.” Feb 27, 2008 by
Shayna from Linden, NJ
“I enjoyed my stay at the Madison Hotel. The room was very nice, however, it was very cramped. There was a recliner in the room for massages, but it took a lot of space that did not exist. Besides that I would stay there again.” Feb 23, 2008 by
Gina from High Bridge, NJ
“We were so surprised at the location and closeness to the White House! We loved everything from the front desk employees to the doorman to the concierge who was so friendly and helpful. The accommodations were beautiful all throughout the property! We could walk to dinner right near the White House! It was an unexpectedly wonderful stay! The only drawback was our room faced the back of the hotel and we could look easily to other rooms in the other surrounding buildings! I like to look out the window!” Feb 22, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Covington, LA
“For my purposes, the hotel was excellent -- in easy walking distance from everything. The staff was attentive but not intrusive and, though full, the hotel and rooms were nice and quiet.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Kate from Enola, PA
“We were initially booked for a room with 2 queen beds, but I asked for a room with 1 king, figuring we would rather have the extra room space than an extra bed. Wow, was I wrong, we were given a room that just fit a king size bed, dresser, table, and desk smaller than even budget hotels. Further, we could hear our neighbors as if they were in the same room. Thankfully, the bellhop was with us, and definitely agreed that the room was not "do-able". He called to the front desk, and they gave us a different room. The new room was 2x the size, had a massage chair, and a corner location, offering amazing views and lots of windows. Don't be afraid to ask for another room. Only downside, walls must be painfully thin, we could still hear our neighbors loud and clear, but with such a nice room, we were not going to complain.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Dana from New York, NY
“The room was large and very well-decorated. The room was recently renovated; the only thing not finished yet was there was no coffee-maker in room as I would have expected. But a note, re-renovation project stated that they were in process of installing. Great service - always offering to help or give information.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Chris from Issaquah, WA
“The Hotel was clean, comfortable, and had a very friendly staff. It was within walking distance of many of the attractions (1 - 1.5 miles).” Feb 19, 2008 by
Tom from Key West, FL
“Great hotel in a great location, with extremely friendly and helpful staff.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Kim from Hampton, VA
“The location was not good. At night you have to walk through a park that is full of homeless people in order to get to the Metro. We did not feel safe at all. The hotel is in the middle of a renovation and there is no drink machine or ice machine. Would not recommend this hotel for leisure stay.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Tl from Hickory, NC
“Although we did receive a morning paper there was no coffee maker or ice available.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Laney from Knoxville, TN
“The entire staff seemed to be ready to meet any need! It was quiet and comfortable with the flare of elegance! A great experience for a great deal!” Feb 8, 2008 by
Mchael from Chicago, IL
“Good location, good service, friendly, building dated but spotless and well maintained. I'd stay there again.” Feb 5, 2008 by
Melinda from Carpinteria, CA
“The staff at the Madison was 5 star. We were always met with a smile, a friendly hello and were made to feel like family from the moment we checked in. We hope to return annually to Washington DC and will make the Madison our home away from home.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Matthew from Chicago, IL
“Really not up to par for a Loews Hotel. Little attention to detail. I stayed for several days and then never fixed the light (had to unscrew the bulb to turn it off), never provided a soap dish for bathroom (soap had to lay on countertop). Really dismal lighting in the bathroom made everything look yellow and dirty. Poor water pressure in shower.” Feb 2, 2008 by
Lakeila from Fairfax, VA
“I am extremely disappointed with this hotel and their service. This was New Years Eve. I had to wait in the lobby with a line of 25 other guests to secure a room. This whole process took so long that I was not able to make my dinner reservations and thus my night ruined.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Barry from Riverton, NJ
“Nice hotel. Great staff, room was a little small.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Mark from Chesapeake, VA
“The Madison Hotel in Washington D.C. is an incredible find hidden Downtown. The entry level guest room has an abundance of amenities including in-room movie rental, internet service, massage chair, and goose down bedding. The negatives to be aware of are the extras. You must pay for internet; $10 per day. You must pay for parking; $35 overnight. The hotel restaurant is extremely overpriced. Room service is subject to an 18% fee on top of a delivery charge and very high prices. There are countless people to tip including a bell-hop and concierge. Overall, it is a great stay.” Jan 29, 2008 by
John from Leesburg, VA
“Very first class, super rooms, comfortable beds, nice restaurant, and great early coffee service, close to Metro lines.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Angela D. from Virginia Beach, VA
“Overall, a beautiful hotel. Very attentive staff and well appointed guest rooms. My room did not have an ice bucket or a coffee maker, although I did not ask for one as I was only there for a night. Bed was very comfortable, and I appreciated the chocolates I received at the night time turn down service.” Jan 24, 2008 by
Suzie from Maryville, TN
“The Madison is in an excellent location and is well appointed. The room was nicely furnished with an excellent bed and good bathroom facilities. An added bonus was the massage chair which was just right for ending a day of meetings and getting around town.” Jan 24, 2008 by
Sobby from West Chester, PA
“Was good. cheap for the price I got, i.e. it was rated as a 4 star, though I thought that was a bit too high, the food was horrible, but otherwise everything else was good. Good location. Close to white house and other monuments. I would rate an overall 8 out of 10.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Mike from Elkton, MD
“Staff very helpful and friendly. Nice clean rooms and bathrooms. Beds were comfortable.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Kimberly from Bel Air, MD
“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. When I checked into the hotel the hallways were littered with room service trays, I only receive a paper two of the three days of my stay, I had to request housekeeping the first day and did not receive housekeeping at all on the second day, the in-room safe was broken and I was told I would have to move my possessions into a different room if I want a safe. When I checked out and again expressed my dissatisfaction the staff was not friendly. The hotel did say they would make my next stay more comfortable but I can say I will not ever book a room in this hotel.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Robert from Allen, TX
“I enjoyed the hotel. It was near the sights that we wanted to see and was very attractive. It made for a nice weekend.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Ss from Winchester, VA
“Great hotel, great location-could see Washington Monument from the entrance. Massage chair was awesome-have never seen that in a room anywhere and I travel a lot for work and stay at nice hotels.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Viraj from Livingston, NJ
“Excellent for business travelers.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Barb from Raleigh, NC
“Excellent in all categories. The lounge areas are beautiful. The cost for food and drinks in the hotel is reasonable priced, and delicious. Close to everything.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Greg from Dover, DE
“Nice hotel in a convenient area of DC, but it's a 3 star. Friendly staff, but I had to ask 3 times to get a crib for my youngest. The room was extremely small, not recommended for families with 3 small kids like us. We didn't eat in the on site restaurant because we saw the price: OUCH! $25 for a breakfast of 2 eggs, choice of meat, choice of bread and some juice. There are a couple other choices within walking distance, but stay away from the "City Grill". Bottom line: This hotel is better for couples and business travelers with more money than sense.” Hotel Representatives:
