“It was a nice hotel for the price. The staff were very friendly and honest with what they could and could not do. Needed an early check-in and they did the best they could to accomodate us. Very appreciative of this.” May 23, 2009 by
Linda from Sacramento, CA
“This hotel had extremely helpful and friendly staff. It is located 3 blocks from the White House and the metro. I felt safe going to the CVS Pharmacy at night. It would be nice if they had small refrigerators in the rooms and an ice machine available. They did offer one free ice bucket of ice a day from room service. This hotel was very clean and we had a great view from our room. There was always a taxi available. There is a Subway sandwich shop that is open late nearby but other than that there is no cheap food around.” May 20, 2009 by
John from Newport News,VA
“The management has a focus of accommodating the guests, especially if there is a hotel problem that develops for which the guest is not responsible. The Madison hotel rooms, restaurant and staff are all exceptional and are highly recommended for travelers to downtown Washington D.C.” May 7, 2009 by
JR from Seattle, WA
“My parents and I stayed here for a week. There were 3 of us in the room yet only enough drinking glasses, coffee for 2 people. The beds were not made properly, so we called housekeeping, it was still not fixed the next day, the room was dirty, the bathroom was dirty with previous guests hair on the walls, no vent for steam! We had to call each and every night for clean glasses, ice, more coffee and creamer (Dad even left notes asking for more coffee and creamer each morning). The restaurant is extremely overpriced for what you don't get! The honor bar is a joke and way overpriced as well. As for first 30 minutes free for internet access in the business center not true either. Dad and I spent a total of 16 minutes on line doing our web check in for our flights and were charged for that as well. One day we had a rental car. There's no place to park. They park it for you. We arrived back to the hotel at 9 pm and returned the car the next day to the rental car office at 8 am. We were charged for those few short hours! Being a guest of the hotel why isn't parking complimentary? The staff speaks very bad English very difficult to understand them. If you don't tip well you can forget that you even exist. Concierge is none existent. When you call, the phone rings. Then you get the front desk who put you on hold for 5 minutes. so I hung up and called back numerous times before they (the front desk again) answered and takes my call!” Apr 13, 2009 by
David from North Branford,CT
“The bed was very comfortable and the air conditioner rumbled all night blocking out any hallway noise. All in all a very nice stay.” Apr 12, 2009 by
Tom from Ogdensburg,NJ
“Beautiful, luxury hotel. On a Thursday night, lobby bar had a grand piano playing and singer. Inexpensive restaurants for breakfast/lunch nearby. Close to attractions/easy to get around on foot/Metro. Valet Parking was $40 per night. Bring your car up to the room. It's cheaper (only kidding).” Apr 8, 2009 by
Meagan from South Glastonbury,CT
“Very friendly, nice appeal to it.” Mar 19, 2009 by

“The hotel was beautiful and the staff treated us very well. They were friendly to the children and helpful to our family overall. Both of my children became ill while we were on our vacation and the hotel staff was extremely accommodating and helpful while we had to change our plans to return home a different way. They allowed us a late check-out and offered to help us in any way we needed with our 2 sick children.” Nov 5, 2008 by

Heather from Flat Rock, MI
“Very clean modern style hotel. The best part of this hotel is the staff! We were treated like royalty. Good location also.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Shay from Austin, TX
“The thing we enjoyed most about this hotel was its convenient location in downtown Washington D.C., across the street from The Washington Post and a few blocks from the White House. It was the perfect home base for sight-seeing. The hotel advertises that it was recently remodeled and while the lobby was really nice, our room was a little outdated and small. The staff was friendly and helpful, however we made two calls to have an item delivered to our room and it never arrived.” Jun 15, 2008 by
Donna from Castle Rock, CO
“The hotel was great, the price was great, overall great experience!” Jun 15, 2008 by
Cathy from Chapel Hill, NC
“The Madison was lovely, very nice staff, clean, comfortable rooms. Easy commute to all attractions, nice coffee shop across the street. I would highly recommend it to families as well as business travelers.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Danny from Chula Vista, CA
“Overall, it was an okay experience. My room was a bit dated from the looks of the furniture although it was clean. Certain doormen (2) were very friendly and accommodating but I can't speak for all since a few were a bit snobby especially one in particular who unloaded my luggage from my trunk and pushed it (approx 20 ft) from the front entrance to the registration desk, I didn't have any change on me so I gave him $4 since he stood there impatiently waiting for me to check in. After that, he never really paid any attention to me every time I went in/out of the building. Not really sure what the rules of tipping are but I know that's not really good customer service. On the other coin, there was one who actually asked me what attractions I went to see each day and even gave me some local tips. Concierge service was quite snobby also, maybe because I look young thus does not feel like it's necessary to be accommodating. Check in/out was easy and all charges were documented correctly. Pricey parking compared to another hotel I stayed at nearby previously and no complimentary internet. I think it got a good rating because of its name and location otherwise nothing extraordinary to me.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Tiffany G. from Providence, RI
“My itinerary was incorrect, so the hotel thought I was checking out a day early. Therefore, I did not receive the daily maid service as I was supposed to. I had to call them to bring clean linens and towels. The single bed room I stayed in was tucked away in a corner like a closet. The walls are very thin and I could hear the neighbors children all day. I have stayed here before in a two bedroom and it was much better.” Jun 5, 2008 by
John from Chicago, IL
“This hotel is in the perfect location for the DC area and all the monuments you would want to see.” May 28, 2008 by
Michael from Baltimore, MD
“Overall great hotel. Be sure to remove all items from your car before handing it over to the Valet. The valet stole my Bluetooth and helped himself to coins in my ashtray. Check you car for your belongings before you tip the staff. The hotel is excellent, between the tip and coins the valet stole, he should be able to afford a charger for the Bluetooth he lifted. Enjoyed the hotel, would stay again, and advise everyone to remove all valuables before handing your vehicle over to the valet. The massage chairs in the room more than made up for my loss. I give the Madison 4 stars, and hope they are compensating the staff enough to avoid petty theft, it was the only dark spot on an otherwise perfect stay.” May 27, 2008 by
Mike from Bloomsburg, PA
“The staff was very friendly and helpful. They made us feel welcome. Also the room was clean. The location was ideal to the tourist attractions.” May 19, 2008 by
Dave from Chambersburg, PA
“The hotel was very nice. Staff was friendly and attentive. Had a short wait for our car on Sunday morning. Valet service was slow.” May 13, 2008 by
Ross from Everett, WA
“This was a very pleasant surprise for the price. The hotel staff made us feel very special and took care of our needs.” Apr 27, 2008 by
Wanda from Bloomfield Hills, MI
“An older hotel nicely updated. Had pleasant room with needed amenities. Good service. Very helpful at desk, concierge, and doorman. Location was nicely close to White House and other attractions. Close to Metro, but felt uneasy walking at night. Near park which was used by many homeless. Not a good selection of restaurants without walking several blocks.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Diane from Somerset, NJ
“This was an excellent hotel with all the amenities of a 4 star, plus new furniture, new bathrooms, new carpet, excellent staff, 2 lounges, excellent location, valet parking, plus easy routes into the city and to the hotel and out of the city.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Julia from Centreville, MD
“On the service end, I can understand the 4 star rating, but the room was just a regular hotel room nothing special or elegant, though it was very clean. I expected more luxury.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Shaday from Boston, MA
“This hotel did not cover my expectations of four stars. It is a very small hotel with no facilities and very poor service. The location is not bad but this would fit better in a 3-star hotel.” Apr 13, 2008 by
Sharron from Stockbridge, GA
“Lovely experience. The decor and staff were perfect (and I don't use that word to describe hotels often). I hope to stay at The Madison again next year when we take another grandchild to experience DC.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Kelly from Supply, NC
“The Madison was a great place to stay for our family visit to DC. The staff was very eager to assist us, the rooms were spotless, even if a little smaller than expected. Wish there had been ice machines on the halls and the parking fee was way too high.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Nick from Williamsburg, VA
“This hotel has a great staff. If you appreciate customer service, it's hard to beat this place. The rooms are well appointed and there are lots of nice touches to make your stay more comfortable. The lounge and restaurant are top notch and also have outstanding service. I recommend this hotel highly.” Apr 8, 2008 by
Maureen from Evanston, IL
“Some charm, small bathroom. Nicely appointed rooms. I didn't find their restaurant for casual dining very welcoming for a solo woman traveler, it is really a bar. I opted for room service which was very pricey.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Joel from Fortson, GA
“Loved it! Loved it! Loved it! We couldn't find hotel at first so I called the hotel and the gentleman stayed on the phone with me until we pulled up to the front door. Everyone was so nice and helpful. Everything was clean and sparkling! Parking fees should be clearly explained up front. But they were nice even about this, making an adjustment in our billing.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Orbitalize from New York, NY
“This is a delightful hotel located within walking distance of many DC attractions. Although a bit small, this hotel has a beautiful and modern lobby which has excellent servicemen. I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are okay with a smallish room (We kept banging into the desk and chair!). But everything else was pleasant. I always love hotels that give out free fruit during the day! That's delightful!” Apr 2, 2008 by
Tara from Farmersville, OH
“The staff was friendly and kind to my kids. The hotel was clean. Every shower we had hot water. They turned down our beds nightly. We would go back. The location was great. I would recommend staying there.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Noel from Germantown, MD
“It was beautiful and the staff was extremely curious and helpful.” Apr 1, 2008 by
Maureen from Fayetteville, NC
“The Madison was a very nice hotel in a convenient area for seeing the Washington sites. The staff was wonderful and extremely helpful. Everyone was very friendly. The room was a little small for a family of four, but we didn't spend much time there. The hotel's location made up for the room size. We were three blocks from the Metro. The only issue we had with the room was there was a bar of soap that had been used by a previous guest still in the shower when we first got to the room.” Mar 30, 2008 by
Tommy from Hobbs, NM
“Overall location of hotel was very convenient to subway, white house, and national mall. Fitness facility was excellent and staff was very courteous. However, we had a lot of problems with our room. Room was very small. Had issues with simple things like number of towels, bed sheets not being in good shape, torn pillows, and other things that should never happen for a four star or higher hotel. I was disappointed in the room overall during my trip.”
