“Fun decor. Large rooms. Very helpful employees. Great location. Limited menu but very good chief. Nude female statues in front and in the lobby were in good taste but may not be desirable for some parents with young children.” Sep 17, 2007 by
Brenda from Colorado Springs, CO
“Red neo-deco lobby and hundreds of red accents greet visitors at check-in - along with a glass of free red wine, red stripe, or pomegranate dizzy(5-6pm). Our room got even better from there with our huge long desk, red velvet blackout drapes and crazy deco bathroom fixtures. Did I mention the fluffy robes in animal prints? Hope you get the room behind the rouge sign. Lively bar. Fun place. Great dining night life neighborhood near university. One mile walks to Washington monument and war memorials.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Nick from Minneapolis, MN
“Huge rooms. Good location. Watch your bill I was billed $35.00 for parking, and I didn't have a car! The cleared that no questions asked however. I'd stay again.” Aug 1, 2007 by

“Very stylish hotel located five blocks from Lafayette Park and the White House. Also nearby is an upscale food market, nice restaurants, and a few clubs of the more libertine persuasion. If you don't like the color red, be forewarned, the whole hotel is covered in it. But it does have a romantic, brisk effect on those disposed to something original, if not, hyper trendy. Problem areas is expensive parking ($30 a night), an environmentalist bent that provides excellent cover to cut laundry costs (laundry is by request), and water costs (the shower heads are low pressure). These small problems are remedied by the overall pleasant impression, the nice location, and the reasonable price.” Jul 29, 2007 by

“Can definitely recommend this hotel; nice rooms and good location!” Jul 19, 2007 by

“The hotel was very clean and trendy located in downtown, close to the metro and National Mall.” Jul 17, 2007 by
Katherin from Salem, VA
“Accommodations did aptly fit the boutique atmosphere. The location was right off James Circle and very urban, there was no real view from the windows. The staff was very attentive, and greeted me in my comings and goings each day. The bathroom was dimly lit for day, just slightly better in the evening. I thought of this locale as a great one for business travelers and couples. However, I did see many families checking in which made me think about checking in my family in the future. Overall, it was a pleasant surprise, and I now will look into the Kimpton Hotel Chain for the times I want something different out of my vacations.” Jul 16, 2007 by

“Great location. Right down the street from White House! Staff was very helpful and courteous. It may have been a little much for the kids, but wonderful for couples and business travelers. They charged us $27 for overnight valet parking which allowed us the option of taking the car in and out but parking in the area is limited and cabs are very expensive, so we went with it! Breakfast in the hotel was "continental" and not included (something like $3.50 for a bagel and $2 for juice was a bit much, though). Overall, good experience with the hotel itself. I just wish we were better prepared with parking, traveling around town and food options.” Jun 25, 2007 by

“Excellent hotel, reasonably priced for the area. I would highly recommend it.” Feb 21, 2007 by
Elaine from Brooklyn, NY
“Lovely space for a romantic weekend! Some of the red-themed art in the room was a bit garish, but did not detract too much from the overall attractive experience. Staff was awesome; let us have extra time for check-out since we over-slept in the super comfy bed. Free bloody Mary¿s in the lobby helped burn off the hangover!” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 5, 2007 by

“Unique decor but lots of wear and tear. Room service is very limited. Staff is excellent, some of the best I¿ve had in hotel stays. ” Dec 4, 2006 by

“The Rouge Hotel is a small boutique hotel with an excellent atmosphere and nice furnishings in the lobby, bar and individual rooms. Very romantic settings. The location of the hotel was a little walk to the subway train, but overall it was great!” Aug 22, 2006 by

“Its good.” Aug 19, 2006 by
Kathy from Phoenix, AZ
“Moderately upscale, very comfortable, large rooms with seating areas and very clean. It has a great location. The lobby seemed a bit much but we were upgraded to a Chill room with two flat screened TV's, (one was an X-box), an entertainment center, a bar, complimentary robes, and aveda products in the bathroom. It's walking distance to cafe's and a Safeway. The staff was nice, a bit reserved but we only stayed for one night. If you can make it past the flamboyant lobby and white statues of the lounge then I think you will like the hotel. You must have a sense of adventure and have a appreciation of creativity and flare.” Aug 16, 2006 by

“Customer service is definitely a priority at this boutique hotel. The staff goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable. On a superficial note, the staff was also very attractive, especially that Marques. The drinks in the Hotel Rouge Bar were excellent. The manger a trios (gourmet grill cheese sandwiches) and the shrimp dish are the two best things on the menu. Please change the description on the shrimp dish. It is much better than the words make it seem. The rooms are just plain sexy and do not feature that nauseating floral motif that chain hotels offer. I think the Hotel Rouge and the Kempton group in general will be my permanent home when I travel.” Aug 2, 2006 by

“Enjoyed this hotel and staff always seemed happy to help.” Jul 26, 2006 by

“The Hotel Rouge is a well put together one of a kind hotel with many great features. For those traveling looking for something out of the ordinary, it is the place to go. But part of staying in a hotel is having access to hotel things, (soft drinks, vending) and there it lacks. However I would GLADLY stay there again!! Great place.” Jul 26, 2006 by
Cori from Charlottesville, VA
“Fun place to stay for a downtown weekend in DC. Bar and decor were hip and location was excellent. Spa services were unavailable, and I would have preferred more communication when I checked in. Even better if the staff would have made reservations for me at a spa somewhere local. Overall, though, great place, great room, great location, and great bar.” Jul 20, 2006 by
E from Lincoln, NE
“Fun hotel, with huge rooms and a bar full of beautiful people. They need to work on their breakfast, which is indifferent at best. I would definitely stay there again.” Jun 6, 2006 by
Eric from Perrysburg, OH
“Very nice hotel but very trendy. this hotel is not a great place for young children.” May 31, 2006 by
Margaret from Leominsster, MA
“I would recommend the hotel to anyone and would go back there again in a minute. we did not get the "left over" room. The room was twice the size of most hotel rooms and staff couldn't do enough.” Mar 28, 2006 by
Miss D. from Hillsville, VA
“Hotel Rouge was by far one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in DC or otherwise. The decor and ambiance was fabulous! To my welcome surprise, it was located in a fairly safe area of DC and convenient to the club (9:30) I was going. The room was even better than I could have imagined lots of room, tons of style, a lot of really nice "extras" available for use. My favorite feature was the full-length mirror, great for getting ready for a night out in DC! Beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept in--hotel or elsewhere. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend it to anyone. It was worth every penny and made my visit to DC a great one!” Apr 19, 2005 by
David from Mount Bethel, PA
“The Hotel Rouge is an excellent place to stay with a family. When traveling with a family of six, having enough room can be a problem. The rooms at the Hotel Rouge are large and comfortable with plenty of room to stretch out. The complementary Internet ac” Hotel Representatives:
