• Gorgeous room, staff, specific details that really made the stay. In room jazz CD, leopard robe.
• Elevators took a while, that's it.

“Absolutely gorgeous room, lovely staff, eclectic decor, even the tea bags were phenomenal. They also had a yoga channel and enlightenment hour. It's small friendly and caters to the customer excellently, oh yeah and did I mention it was a gorgeous room.”

• The front desk clerk who checked me in was terrific.
• The leopard dotted bathrobes were a little over the top.

“Conveniently located (if you know your way around DC). It tries to be a little funkier than it is, but it is a perfectly functional place for business or pleasure.”

• Breakfast was kind of lame.

“Good location, great staff, v good for business travel. Breakfast was not so great. Bar was a little small. Didnt provide enough space for a quiet dinner. But, there's Dupont circle right round the corner.”

• Extremely friendly staff. Seemed very intuitive and engaged in the job.
• It was specific to the room were assigned. It was large but I believe part of a room used for small meetings. You could hear people in the net room.

“Very good experience overall nice neighborhood. Decent moderately priced restaurants were within easy walking distance.”

• Rooms are very trendy -I like the décor.
• Valet parking is $30.00 a day-I refused to pay that.

• My stay was to short!

“The Topaz Hotel is a jewel. The decor is well chosen and beautiful. I loved the head board, colors, welcome gift (it's a surprise), room layout, relaxation theme. The hotel's location provides easy access to D.C. Guests can enjoy my favorite town by strolling, riding metro bus/rail or catching a cab. I recommend the stroll. I am so excited about the hotel that I want to rent the entire facility for my wedding guests. I have stayed in hotels throughout the U.S. and D.C. Hotel Topaz is my absolute favorite. Cozy and classy. Luxury and leisure. Warm and wonderful. Eclectic and energizing. Relaxing and renewing.”

• Clean/good locations.
• Internet service was bad /no complementary breakfast and no complementary gym.

“Was okay, internet connection was bad, there was not complementary breakfast. I was told there would be and gym charge for YMCA was additional 5 dollars.”

• Off the beaten path.
• Ordered room service and no one ever showed up.

“The room was small, with only a double bed and the furnishings were both unusual and worn. The staff was not prepared to handle customer issues. The restaurant and bar was one room and not able to handle dinner or anything other than a quick drink. I ordered room service in the morning and breakfast never came. I complained to the front desk--no apology, no offer for a remedy, just, "oh". Valet parking was poor.”

• The decor of the hotel was young and trendy. Great for young adults.
• The parking rate was way too expensive.

“Great hotel with trendy decor. Approximately 15 minutes walk to closest metro station and only 4 metro stations away from Smithsonian museums. Perfect for business as they offer complimentary internet in room. Not much to do for children (no pools, etc.).”

• Extremely unique designs; it stands out as a chic and hip place to stay.
• There was nothing I found wanting.

“I was taken aback by the uniqueness of this hotel. It is very flashy and chic, nothing matched but the style was unmistakably high-fashion. The room was huge and well equipped. The staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this hotel, and would highly recommend it.”

• It was very convenient to the public transportation in DC.
• No lobby area.

• It was very nice, an older hotel but full of updates. Seems to be more set for the single scene.
• We were surprised with the cost of valet parking. There was no street parking available. It would have been nice to know up front.

• I liked the size and ambiance as well as the organic and convenient honor bar.
• I would have appreciated a price list with the honor bar.

“The decor was groovy and overall a clean modern and comfortable scene. The yoga elements were nice. Love the avid amenities, windows can open. Quiet room for a city. Female staff extremely friendly and helpful. I would stay here or at a lepton hotel again.”

• The staff was wonderful, always friendly and willing to take up time with their guest.
• The menu at the hotel was very limited. We do not care for Indian food and that was only thing offered.

“We found this a wonderful place to stay. It is very close to the metro stations, when in DC that is a great plus. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is close to many restaurants that are reasonably priced. I would stay here any time I visit DC.”

• Distance to ice machine.

“The staff was incredible. We were at the Topaz for 4 nights. At the end of our stay I felt we knew half of the staff personally.”

• Great staff, unique theme, thoughtful touches.
• Steps up to the elevator were difficult with stroller/ kids, the carpets were worn and dirty.

“I general, a lovely hotel with a Zen-like atmosphere. Super friendly and helpful staff were great. Charming touches like fresh ginger in the lobby and rubber ducks for the kids made it family friendly. The steps up to the elevator made it tricky with kids and strollers, and the on-site restaurant had little to offer for children. The room was nicely sized, the beds and linens were very comfortable, but the carpets were worn and very stained.”

• The staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful in answering questions on getting around town.
• Less than thrilled with the "New Age-iness" of the hotel. (energy stones, horoscopes, etc. left in room)

“The comfort of the room was excellent and the staff was very helpful and friendly. If you have children, you may not appreciate the bar activity in the lobby on Saturday night. We also found it to have too much "New Age" influence for us.”

• The room was large and comfortable. The staff was simply great, they made me feel that they enjoyed their jobs and it was their pleasure to serve me.
• Everything was wonderful!

“The Topaz hotel is cozy and comfortable hotel with large rooms, an attractive decor on a quiet secluded street in Washington. It is within a block of the Metro transit system, close to Dupont Circle which has an active night life and good restaurants. The staff is superb and they make you stay at the Topaz a memorable experience by their dedication to customer service in their commitment to total hospitality as their ultimate goal”

• The location. easy to get almost everywhere.
• Very limited parking..

• We enjoyed the room decor, the "Spa" theme, and the walking distance to eateries.
• The bathtubs paint was totally scraped off. The mat wasn't even able to conceal it.

• Proximity to tourist areas was good
• Hotel staff was relatively clueless about our needs.

“Tiniest lobby I've ever seen. Our room was located near the elevator motor, so we heard it all night. Room was clean and nice. Hotel staff was just plain odd. Didn't really work to accommodate us. Is this some sort of odd cult hotel?”
