- Some elevators not working, shuttle was crowded.
“We found the room to be clean, and the bed was comfortable. Air conditioning unit was quite loud, and one of the elevators was not working. Also the shuttle to the Downtown area and to the airport was usually late, and always packed (shuttle was shared with another hotel).”

- It's generally run down. It needs to be refurbished.
“This hotel is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the heart of Old Town Alexandria. However, Old Town is still close. The hotel has a shuttle bus. The hotel is in desperate need of refurbishment - carpets are worn, furniture is beat and scuffed, doors are worn and scuffed, etc. This takes away from the cleanliness of the beds and bathroom. The staff was excellent - friendly, courteous, and professional.”

- 1st room I was in had smoke stench and burn marks in the carpet.
“Convenient to major arterial highway and close to dc. Nice old town Alexandria nearby, with cool shops/restaurants on king St. Although the 1st night we were in a smelly smoking room with multiple burn marks in the carpet, we were put into a different, non-smoking room the next day that was much nicer. The staff here is all friendly and helpful, and in my opinion are the strongest attribute.”

- Hotel was clean, very comfortable, nicely decorated, and conveniently located.
- Parking fee was $15, although we got a 50% discount because we were members of the hotel's frequent guest program.

- Hotel just seemed "shoddy" in general.
“Although it wasn't awful by any means, there were definitely a few complaints about the hotel. First of all, there was a very unpleasant odor in the hallways very musty. Secondly, the housekeeping staff was very loud in the hallways in the morning, having very loud conversations and in general making a "ruckus." Third, there was no conditioner! Who doesn't have conditioner? What the heck? The biggest problem, though, was probably that the curtains didn't close! There were sheer panels (sheer white) over the windows that closed, but the drapes, which, you know, block out the light, did not close, they were merely decorative. This is idiotic. People in hotels want dark rooms.”

- They tried double charging me for parking.
“Good Hotel. Great location, convenient airport shuttle. Room was clean and in good shape. Hallway carpets were stained but no prevailing smell in the place. The exhaust fan in the bathroom did not work, and the front desk staff almost double charged me for parking upon check out.”

- Staff was amazing, went out of their way for us on several occasions.
- Hot tub was out of service.
“This is not the newest, fanciest place, but it was solid. Very comfy bed, nice thick blankets (and extra pillows!), clean, spacious room. It was further from Old Town than we thought, but there's a shuttle that drops you off in Old Town. Once, the shuttle left early; the front desk covered our cab fare so we could make our dinner reservations. Only disappointment was that the hot tub was out of order. All-in-all, it was a nice place for the money; I would go again.”

- The windows opened a little for fresh air, comfortable beds, pretty view.
- It smelled like smoke, most hotels clean the room and it doesn't smell. Elevators were horrible.
“I liked the hotel, the staff was friendly. They have garage parking, but they don't tell you it closes at a certain time. The elevators are very weird, to get to the parking garage, you have to walk to the other side of the hotel. There are two elevators, but only one goes to the 2nd floor. But the hotel was nice and clean, the shuttle was very convenient to go to DC. Plenty of stuff to do right around there and a grocery across the street. I would stay there again.”

“The front of the hotel was being redone so you couldn't park out front to unload your bags or check in. You had to park in some really dark non-guarded garage beneath the hotel (which I can't figure out how this hotel was considered Old Town Alexandria because it was nowhere near the Downtown Old Town). Even the person who checked us in after telling us that the closest metro was only 2 blocks away she followed it up with "I wouldn't use that one though because it's not in a good area." (We were only 2 blocks from the metro she described to us)! Our hotel room was as clean as it could be but there were stains the carpet, the furniture looked old and the bed was tiny and we over looked the dumpster (and two out of three mornings we were awoken to the sanitation truck coming to pick up the garbage). The breakfast food was horrible the next morning as well. Not quite the vacation my husband and I were looking forward to after not having a break for over a year! Needless, to say not only will we not recommend the hotel or ever stay there again.”

“This was a great hotel! The staff was helpful and friendly from check in to check out. The room was clean and well appointed and the bathroom was of a fair size. We will definitely stay here again if we have the opportunity. It was close to D.C. and the shuttle takes you directly to the airport and metro. The manager was also great with our kids who were unhappy about having to leave the hotel. Loved our stay!”

“Staff was unable to direct us to the Hotel and when we finally found the place, he was unable to direct us to Parking Garage and it took driving around at random to find the Parking Garage Entrance after numerous inquiries by telephone from the road, again from in front of the hotel and again in person inside the hotel lobby.”

“Good proximity to dc and old town. Cleaning staff were very nice. The front desk staff was a little immature. There were stains on the walls and ceilings not as clean as I would have liked. Signs for parking area were not clear. When I stepped out of the parking elevators to a lobby, it was filled with some antique show going on and there were no signs directing me to the lobby. It was extremely confusing and I had problems negotiating past the antique show people (who were quite rude).”

- The location near old town Alexandria was terrific; the rooms were very clean and comfortable.
- The rugs in the halls were somewhat old a worn.
“The location of the holiday Inn old town is superb. There many terrific restaurants within walking distances and two food markets- Giant and Trader Joes- very close. The rooms were particularly comfortable with terrific beds.”

- Security was outstanding! I felt very safe. The bed was very comfortable.
- Need a few upgrades, i.e., new carpeting.
“This hotel was in a very good location to Downtown DC, good atmosphere. I felt safe when having to use my key card to use the elevators late night. Although I didn't dine at the restaurant, it was very tempting; the food smelt wonderful! I would stay there when traveling to DC.”

- The room was horrible!
- Water stains on ceiling and curtains!
“The hotel was doing some kind of renovations and as I was walking off the elevator the crew had all their stuff all over the place and I had to weave around a bunch of trash! The workers there just watched as they were sitting down doing nothing! The front desk had 2 other people checking in and a girl behind the desk was arguing with a guest. The man that helped me was friendly. When I got to my room after walking down a hallway that had filthy carpet and huge scuffs down the walls I noticed the horrible water stains on the ceiling and going up the curtains! I have stayed at 1 and 2 star hotels and motels that are nicer than this hotel! The bed felt like is made of 2 box springs. I was not going to use the restaurant seeing due to the condition of the room! I was going to walk to a nearby restaurant and was told not to because of safety issues!”
