• Had to call down to front desk for a few toiletries right when we got in the room.

• The location and set up of the rooms.

“It is a great place to stay. The location is great and the rooms are nice and comfortable. The staff is also very nice. The only downfall there isn't free internet in the rooms. You have to pay for it. In this day and age most hotels have free internet.”

“Hotel was in a good location. The staff was helpful, it's a decent place to stay. Bed was comfy, carpets are little on the scary side. Everything else in the room was nice. View was not the most desirable but it wasn't bad for the price. A good place to spend a night or two, might be a little small if the you have a family. Very central to old town Alexandria and all the action.”

“This was the first time I stayed at this hotel. Unfortunately there was no free internet access and no free coffee offered in the lounge. Also there was no local TV channels to watch, you had to pay for everything.”

• Separation of rooms (bedroom vs. living area) great TVs.
• Furniture could use slight upgrade.

“Conveniently located in Old Towne VA, I found the Sheraton Suites staff to be friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and had 2 plasma HDTV's. The separation of the living area and bedroom afforded privacy if needed. The room also had a microwave which was great for midnight snacking. Overall a pleasant experience.”

• It's the first hotel that had pet amenities to put in the room. They were very friendly towards us with my dog. The restaurant was accommodating.
• Had to pay for parking.

“The room was very attractively arranged with great use of space and modern equipment with HD TV in both living and bedrooms. It's near to King Street for convenience of Old Town, but far enough away to be quiet. The hotel staff is very friendly. Would love to stay there again.”

• There was little noise during the night and slept well.
• The kids had to sleep on a pullout that was not comfortable.

“Overall, the stay was fine even though we were not at the hotel much. We were site seeing. The kids were very uncomfortable on the pullout couch. The king bed was very comfortable and the room the king bed was in was very quiet. The room was very clean and the hotel was nice. The pool area closed sooner than the time that was on the schedule which was upsetting considering the kids were looking forward to swimming after a day in Washington DC. The shuttle bus driver was AWESOME.”

• The beds were extremely comfortable.
• We had to have the toilet worked on twice and it still leaked after.

“The beds felt like we were sleeping on a cloud. The pool and hot tub were relaxing after walking all day. The staff was friendly and helpful. However, there were bottle caps under the chair. The toilet wouldn't flush, they came immediately to fix it, then it kept running, they again came right after we called, the toilet then kept leaking, but we just decided to deal with it, since that was the worst thing in our room.”

• Very friendly staffs (house keeper, bar staff and bellman). Front desk clerk was not so.
• The front desk personal were talking personal matters while we stood there to check in.

“When we arrived at the hotel, there was no customer in line. There were three front desk clerk and we stood for 5 minutes before one of them ask if we needed help. I thought that was very poor customer service.”

• Rooms are cramped and when sofa bed is unfolded, very hard to get around--sofa also filthy & lobby was under construction.

• Nearly everything is a considerable extra charge. $10 for internet, $4 for room's bottled water, $12 for movie, etc.

“The first room I was given was not as clean as it could have been and was next to the ice machine. A Calif King in one room, a double pull out sofa in a separate room, and the bathroom connecting to both (as well as a wet-bar in the sitting room). For a wedding. Just enough space, room to lounge around, and everyone were comfortable! Staff was very kind, though sometimes hard to comprehend (accents). Free shuttle runs to airport and main Metro stations. Hotel is a 7-10 block walk from interesting parts of Alexandria. Not too far, and a nice walk along the river. Overall enjoyable!”

“This was a fantastic hotel, just across the bridge in VA with easy access to all DC sights. It had TWO flat panel TVs in each room and everything was luxurious. My relatives could not say enough about how nice it was.”

• Did not have 2 beds, as previously requested. Pool was undergoing renovations. We were told that we could go next door to the Holiday Inn.

“Located a short distance from Washington DC area. Hotel was clean, but was undergoing renovations at the time of our stay. Disappointed that we did not know the pool was being renovated during that time.”

• Did not realize it was pet friendly. We were on the same floor as a huge group for a family reunion. A bit noisy.

• The swimming pool was clean and tended to by a helpful lifeguard.
• The bathtub had a non slip pad that had been stuck to the floor of the bath tub for too long.

“The hotel had comfortable furnishings, the bed was very comfortable, a small living room area that could be closed off from the bedroom by double doors, for a second guest a pull out couch, a convenient coffee maker and refrigerator.”

• Very comfortable beds and nice sized suites. Cleanliness was superb.
• They were doing construction, so loud drilling but I know that is not permanent.

“Staff was very helpful and checked me in quickly. Accommodations were very comfortable. There was loud drilling noises throughout the day, but I was able to sleep comfortably. This is only temporary, as they are renovating, so other than that I'd recommend this hotel! It was in a great location close to many restaurants and the DC area. Parking in the hotel deck was $18/day but there was street parking close by for free.”

• This was a suite hotel & equipped with microwave, mini- drefrigerator & 2 plasma TV's. Very nice.
• Location to downtown area by foot was not convenient but they had a shuttle.

“Hotel was very clean, rooms were large and comfortable. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Shuttle service to Metro & downtown made getting around easy. Restaurants & grocery store were within walking distance. Everything was very nice.”

• The convenience of the location to the public transportation.
• The pool was only 3 feet deep.

“All in all it was a good hotel. We did find alternate parking because their parking garage was really expensive. We never ate at the hotel because of the prices. Their communication skills are something that need to be worked on. They are not the most friendliest people in the world, but the hotel itself was nice. The room was what I expected. It was clean and neat.”

• Great Old Town Alexandia location with shuttle service to the Metro.
• Lobby was being remodeled (paint and wallpaper).

“The room was great (1-bedroom suite with kitchenette) with two large screen TVs (bedroom and living room). Location was convenient to Old Town Alexandria (dining, shopping, and sight-seeing) with a grocery store just down the street for added convenience. Wonderful for a weekend getaway, but unfortunately I was there by myself for a 1-day business meeting.”

• Professional and friendly staff. Abraham even lent us his umbrella for a day.
• Pool hours are limited. 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“Although several blocks from the Metro and downtown (King Street) Alexandria, Sheraton Suites is easily accesible to D.C. via the complimentary shuttle, and the walk toward downtown Alexandria reveals historical treasures such as Lee's boyhood home, the Christ Church, and 18th century cobblestone streets. Nice property with a friendly and helpful staff.”

“Located nicely, away from major streets, clean and comfortable; however, the first night there was some sort of party going on three floors below in the courtyard. After getting up at 3:15 a.m., we were tired and wanted to get to sleep a little after 9:00 p.m. After calling desk, staff said party would stop at 10:00, stopped at 10:06, but I had to sit up waiting because it was so loud. Next night there were teenagers running up and down the hallway making all sorts of racket. I had to go to sleep with a pillow over my head and ears to try to block out the noise. Our third night was finally quiet. Check with hotel about what is going on and who else is on your floor before excepting your room.”

• Hotel shuttles. They have 3 vehicles, but only operate once every hour, then half hour for certain period.

• Rooms were very clean and no smoking allowed in rooms, which makes for pleasant rooms. Refrig & micro great to have.
• Non-whirlpool tubs would help for romantic situation.

• Nice location, great to walk around but far from the downtown.
• No free internet connection even in the public areas.

“I actually liked the hotel and the surroundings. Everyone was nice, the shuttle operated on schedule, so there was no problem with using it to access the Metro (important for us). Beautiful views from the windows. Somewhat disappointed with the restaurant, but they are renovating, maybe that's the problem. Otherwise - very nice place.”

• The suite was decent. Space to live.
• They nickel and dime you for everything, extra towels, internet usage is $1 a minute, desk staff are not native English speakers, in the ghetto.

“This facility really doesn't cut it. Every staff member is a non-native English speaker. The facility borders right up against the ghetto in this city. You have to walk to the metro, no shuttle, through the ghetto to get into DC to see any of the sights. Everything about this facility is overpriced! Want internet? It's a dollar a minute. Want to use the pool. Its 3 feet deep and the hot tub leaves a salt slick on you as if Lot's wife just finished up in there. This place has some basic hygiene and staffing issues. They think that because they're in 'old town Alexandria', which they're not really, that they can slack on the basics of customer service. Someone needs to remind them that they're in the hospitality business and not vying to be the soup Nazi of hotels.”

• The room felt like home away from home, the location was great, the complimentary shuttle saved us a bundle.
• Really searching for something. OK, the pool didn't open until 4:00 p.m. I thought this odd but it was no hardship.

“Amidst all the hotels in the D.C. Metro area, this one seemed the most attractive for me if I were to return on my own for sightseeing. The complimentary shuttle to the airport which links with D.C.'s great transit system meant no hassles about parking and still being able to see all the sites.”

• The room was nice.
• For the price it should have included a breakfast of some sort. You had to pay another 40 extra for that.

“I thought the rooms could have been a bit bigger and it could have included some sort of breakfast. The in room menu prices were quite high in my opinion. Overall our stay was good great location I didn't use y car the whole time I was there except to go into DC.”

• Room was small, carpets were stained.

“Suite had an "island" in the middle, which reduced the usable floor space and made the three rooms--living room, bedroom, bath area--seem small and difficult to use. Internet was expensive ($13/day) and slow.”

• Hotel staff very solicitous in helping me get a prescription at pharmacy and allowing our stay past checkout to allow me to rest prior to air take-off.
• Unfortunately the pull-out couch mattress probably caused my back pain. Better mattress would be great.

“The hotel staff was very solicitous, especially given my aching back. They shuttled us all over. They referred us to a great restaurant. The Chart House. We were treated like VIPs based on their reservation with a free dessert, roses and solicitous visits by chef and maitre'd. We'd definitely go back.”

• I liked the suite for my children.
• I was given a suite with one single king size bed and they could not give me two queens.

“The location was great if you want to spend time out of DC. The hotel shuttle to the metro was helpful and staff directed me on how to use the metro to get into the city. However, the hallway was loud at night and we had a buzzing sound coming from the vent which kept the kids awake. It was nice that they didn't allow children into the hot tub, gave parents a little respite too.”

“Typically at the Sheraton you get excellent above and beyond concierge service, that was not the case here. The staff was not helpful at all. Everything cost extra such as parking, etc. The room was clean and bed was comfy! There was a lifeguard at the pool but it was only 3 feet deep all across and there were no towels several times. I expected more from a Sheraton hotel.”
