“The staff were incredible, from the check in staff to the valet parking attendant, each one took the time to say hello, inquire about our stay. It was genuine and because of this, i would choose a kimpton hotel again. The hotel lobby was small, but clean and the room was clean, well kept. The hotel had a mini bar which we did not use do the expense of it, if prices had been cheaper we would have definitely used.” Jun 6, 2009 by
Randy from Warsaw,IN
“Nice hotel, friendly staff if not always knowledgeable of neighborhood. Rooms starting to lose their edge. Not a true 3.5 star.” Apr 29, 2009 by
Lori from Coconut Creek,FL
“Everyone was friendly and helpful.” Nov 28, 2008 by
Mary Beth from Great Neck,NY
“Considering the comfort of the room, great value for the low Priceline rate! Note: when we were first shown our room and expressed worry that it would be over the hotel restaurant, we were switched to a room on a higher floor, no questions asked.” Sep 6, 2008 by
Raulico from N Miami Beach, FL
“The hotel was good. Big room, small bath.” Sep 3, 2008 by
Kristie from Concord, CA
“We loved the location, safe for walking and close to Dupont Circle full of restaurants, nightlife, cafes, Metro, etc. The staff was great! Very friendly, professional, helpful, welcoming etc. The hotel room was quiet and peaceful. The only downside to this hotel is the bathroom (toilet/shower room) was extremely small. We weren't traveling with a pet, but other guest we met were and the hotel is pet friendly.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Laura from Bellerose, NY
“The staff was so helpful and friendly. A nightly greeting with a complimentary glass of wine was a lovely touch. As was the nightly snack of Oreos and milk available in the lobby. The room was huge but still comfortable. I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the DC area.” Aug 15, 2008 by
Eric from Youngstown, OH
“My family really enjoyed our stay here. The room was gorgeous and beautifully decorated. It was also quiet. Liked the Aveda products. Enjoyed the Starbucks coffee every day. Staff was friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay here again and will recommend to friends.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Jy from Cortland, OH
“Our stay was fabulous. The rooms were clean and modern. The hotel is in walking distance to the Metro along with most tourist attractions. The cost of parking was a bit high, however much worth it considering parking in the DC area.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Lori from Newport News, VA
“This hotel has a competent and considerate staff. The rooms are clean and spacious for the area and the wine hour each evening was a nice touch. It was a bit loud due to street noise, but overall my family had a nice time.” Jul 10, 2008 by
Sandra from Santa Barbara, CA
“Conveniently located, excellent value, and excellent staff--friendly and helpful.” Jun 10, 2008 by

“This hotel is more pet friendly than people friendly.” May 27, 2008 by
Arun from Bala Cynwyd, PA
“Nice size room. No fitness center. Close to Dupont Circle and Foggy Bottom Metro stops. Three steps from entry to elevators which might be difficult for disabled individuals.” Apr 21, 2008 by
Martha from Madison, CT
“Hotel Madera has a very helpful, friendly staff. It's a short walk to the Metro Station -- we handed our car to the valet and didn't use it until we checked out. The room was very nice, clean, and attractive, with an office area, an exercise bike, and a dressing area, yet the bathroom was tiny -- fine if you're by yourself, but a little difficult for our family of four. The Sunday brunch at the hotel's restaurant was very tasty, but service was slow for those of us who were anxious to go sightseeing, not lounge around as many people might. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.” Apr 13, 2008 by
Lynn from Lansing, MI
“Beautiful, stylish hotel in the heart of Dupont Circle. Within walking distance of Connecticut Ave. and all it has to offer. Not close to Metro, but great if you want to get away from the typical business/conference hotel. Truly a place to relax. Plug your I-Pod into the clock radio or bring your CDs for the in room stereo.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Krista from Spring, TX
“Great overall hotel - upscale bath products and bedding. Our room was large. Free evening wine, cookies/milk, and morning coffee/tea were all pleasant surprises. Staff were extremely friendly and welcoming.” Mar 30, 2008 by
Kelly from Lake Mills, WI
“Very nice hotel with friendly staff in a great location. There were many places to eat within a few blocks, the metro was close, and the room was spacious.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Chutcharn K. from North Canton, OH
“If you want to stay here in the center of DC, this is a cheap place and close to subway (Near Dupont center). But I would be a good idea to not bring your car with you, because it's not easy to find parking spot outside. You need to pay for 10 $ for parking during daytime. If you need to park at night (Valet 35$) or park outside.” Mar 23, 2008 by
Collin from Lubbock, TX
“Great place to stay minutes from all the big attractions. Quiet, small, comfortable hotel.” Mar 17, 2008 by
Shannon from Baltimore, MD
“Excellent boutique hotel.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Geoff from Roanoke, VA
“This Hotel seemed to appeal to the more modern and hip demographic, but there were standard amenities that were absent that really make this a 2-star Hotel. There was no lounge, even though they had a complimentary wine hour. So guests could go downstairs and get their glass of wine, but had to take it up their room or drink it in the tiny lobby, standing in front of the desk clerk. There was simply no lounge whatsoever. There was no sliding chain lock on the door of the room, something that was very concerning. Also, the cleaning staff failed to identify themselves when knocking on the door, and went ahead and opened the door while we were getting out of the shower, even though it was 9 am (checkout time is noon). Also, one of the towels was a bit stained--lending a certain one-star-hotel feel to the experience. There were some other slight annoyances that were cleared up with a phone call, but just should not have occurred. I would definitely not recommend this hotel to anyone. There really is no excuse for the lack of standard hotel amenities in any hotel in Washington D.C.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Leah from Raleigh, NC
“The hotel was very attractive and had great perks, like wine at 5:30 and milk and Oreo at 10:30. The staff was very professional and friendly; a great place to stay!” Feb 8, 2008 by
Nancy
“Almost like a little neighborhood hotel. Staff very friendly and accomodating. Rooms very comfortable and clean. Loved the in room computer and printer. Close to restraunts and shopping. Three blocks from Metro.” Jan 29, 2008 by
Alan from Austin, TX
“On the bright side, the rooms were clean; the hotel is centrally located, with free internet, and friendly staff. However, the rooms were relatively small and the bed and chairs were not particularly comfortable. Overall, a good place to stay.” Dec 9, 2007 by
Myeong from New York, NY
“It was very comfortable and easier to accessible to other areas.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Ludovic from Virginia Beach, VA
“Very noisy hotel, they keep on playing music even during the night! Very hard to relax! Valet parking, you must wait for a long time to have your car.” Nov 26, 2007 by
Kelly from Luling, LA
“Overall, Madera hotel was a great experience. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious. The four of us felt like we were home on our five night stay. I would definitely stay here again. The metro was a couple blocks away which made easy access to all the DC area had to offer. Great hotel!” Sep 24, 2007 by
Linda from Washington, DC
“Very friendly staff, very helpful. Room was clean, housekeeping excellent.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Pearl from Blacksburg, VA
“So-so. Overpriced.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Jacob from New Haven, CT
“The hotel exceeded my expectations. It is a fancy hotel with beautiful rooms. The restaurant is trendy and has wonderful food. They have complementary wine during certain hours, which happened to be when we came in. Certainly a nice warm welcome.” Sep 18, 2007 by
Alysia from Cocoa, FL
“Great hotel; definitely exceeds the 3 star rating. Very trendy with great location! Only negative I can think of is the fact that the valet parking is very expensive, but you can put your car away for $10 a day and leave it there (you won't need it!).” Aug 4, 2007 by
Jean from Burbank, CA
“Fabulous location; large, gorgeous rooms; complimentary internet; complimentary wine in the evening, coffee in the morning. I did not like that I had to request a coffee maker for my room (should be standard equipment in a hotel of this quality), and that they only brought one coffee packet (most hotels supply three -- two regular, one decaf). Sure, they served fresh complimentary coffee, but only in the morning, and only in the lobby (which means getting dressed and looking presentable). Otherwise, no complaints.” Aug 1, 2007 by
Liz from New York, NY
“The Hotel Madera is ideally located near the Dupont Circle Metro and many restaurants and bars in DC. Interesting, safe neighborhood. The lobby is very small but offers snacks from wine at 5pm to afternoon apples to cookies at night. Unfortunately, the hotel ran out of 2-bed rooms (though we had called to request one a few days in advance) and put us in the "Cardio Suite" which featured a treadmill (not useful in 95 degree DC weather). Also, the hotel ran out of DC maps and I had to go to another hotel in the area to get one. Nice feature was that they give you an option of what newspaper you would like - had the choice of the Sunday NYT or the Sunday Washington Post. The Firefly restaurant off the lobby is great, very cute, trendy, and clearly popular with actual DC residents and not just hotel guests. Also, note that hotel does not offer 24-7 room service.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Jeff from Norfolk, VA
“I would recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to the D.C. area. Location near Dupont Circle is ideal. Our comfortable, spacious and clean room was a delight. The friendly, courteous staff was an added plus.” Jun 29, 2007 by
Ellen from Thomaston, ME
“The staff was the friendliest I have ever encountered. They could not have been any more helpful. The location was fine. It was a clean neighborhood that felt safe.” May 2, 2007 by
Carl from Branford, CT
“Much left to desire at hotel Madera, a 2-star hotel trying to pass as 3-star. I found it to be overpriced. I've enjoyed much nicer lodging in the same area for the same cost.” Aug 2, 2006 by
Peri W. from Huntsville, AL
“The Hotel Madera is a gem in the Kimpton chain. Discreet. Quiet. Lovely hip decor. Excellent restaurant and small bar. Top notch service. Large, clean rooms. Safe for a single woman traveler. Convenient to Dupont Circle area and METRO.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Oct 9, 2005 by
