- Great bed. Great doormen, front desk staff and
great bathroom.
“For a romantic stay it can hardly be beat. We were welcomed and assisted by the doormen and the front desk staff got us into our very comfortable room. Bathroom with modern looks with textured wall covering treatment, great shower and soaps, creams shampoos, all top of the line. Location made it easy to get to Georgetown, Kennedy Center and all the sites. Would stay again anytime.”

“The Westin Grand is a very attractive hotel with extremely friendly and helpful staff. The rooms were large and clean and the bathroom was very spacious and clean. Westin appears to be putting an emphasis on healthy living but this visitor found the menu options a bit too limiting in this manner.”

“The doormen were always there to great you and open the door. The lobby is decorated in a minimal fashion with Contemporary leather coaches and stools, small candles are lit at night to create an ambiance. There is a Courtyard in the center of the hotel with a European flair, complete with fountain- perfect place for a wedding. There is a lap pool and a gym- no Jacuzzi or locker room. Beautiful overall. The rooms are spacious with marble and granite bathrooms and deep bath tubs.”

- Lack of an fan exhaust in bathroom created musty smell.
“Bathroom was excellent with new, separate all-glass shower stall, bath tub and toilet with wide single sink counter. However, there is no bathroom window or fan exhaust and we believe the lingering moisture caused a musty smell to accumulate in the main room. Whatever the cause, the hotel was first rate in providing us an ozonator to eliminate the smell. Location is excellent with Metro two blocks, car rental one block, Trader Joe's one block away and express laundry/dry cleaning across the street.”

“I was a bit nervous concerning the remodeling I heard was going on here. But needless to say, it is done, the hotel was in great shape. It is in a nice area of DC (Foggy Bottom/George Washington University), which is very clean and safe. There are two drug stores close by, as well as a couple cool cafes (I recommend Aroma's Cafe just down the street for sandwiches). We did not eat in the hotel, it was kind of pricey, and there are not a lot of areas to shop in the immediate vicinity, but you can walk a few blocks to the Metro and get anywhere you want to go very cheaply and quickly. The service was very good and friendly. We did not have a car so we did not have to park, but if you do it was cost you about 30 bucks a night. So factor that in. Beds are incredible, flat screen TV's in every room, nice size bath tubs and showers in the room, but a funky sliding door that does not lock on the bathroom's was a bit odd. The pool is just average, and they have a small but decent work out room also. Overall, we were very happy with the hotel and would stay there again in a heart beat.”

- The staff was very helpful and nice, the beds were very comfortable.
- The room was small, the bathroom while clean lacked amenities for a four star.
“I would be real hesitate to stay at Westin again, the decor was a brown which made it kind of drab looking. Our window overlooked a roof top where people were working. You could hear fire engines all night. The room was a king but not very big, the bathroom lacked the amenities I am used to seeing at a four star hotel. And unless you ate at the hotel restaurant you had to go downtown to get to a restaurant which is not easy in Washington. The positives were the staff was amazingly nice and helpful, they did not nickel and dime you to death and very nice and comfortable beds. And a very important plus it was clean.”

“Nice business hotel in Foggy Bottom, in the same neighborhood as the Ritz, Marriott, Hyatt etc. Good restaurants nearby. Room was large and comfortable. Could use a light refresh of paint and carpet but the room was still updated, comfortable and clean. Meets the 4 star standard easily. Pool was overrun by kids, so no chance to do laps. Workout facility had modern equipment and was a good size for a hotel. Room service was ridiculously overpriced (high food prices, plus tons of extra fees like tax (10%) + service fee (18%) + delivery charge ($3.50 if I recall correctly). I got take-out instead.”

“This isn't a typical Westin. It is far below Westin standard. The AC had a variety of problems and one main thing being the air filer was filthy. The pool was close for most of my visit and wasn't that great anyway. The gym was not clean. Gyms must be kept clean because of bacterial diseases etc. Sweat marks all over mirrors, floors and equipment was dirty. This was a very strange Westin compared to all the others I have stayed in.”

- Mini bar charges you if you lift something up for more than 30 seconds so there is no where to store your own beverages.
“This hotel was in an excellent location. It was beautifully decorated and made you feel calm and relaxed. The rooms were spacious and meticulously maintained. The front desk staff was very helpful. Our only complaint was the lack of a mini refrigerator in our room that we could use for our own beverages. Other than that, we absolutely loved it!”

“Location-wise, this hotel is hard to beat -- near Georgetown's best, a short walk from Metro. It could be a 4-Star place in that it is so clean and has many upscale amenities, but it has a few problems. First, the staff as a rule is unfriendly and even arrogant and does little to be accommodating. Their air is as if they are doing you a favor by serving your needs. Second, the Internet service during our stay was erratic and unreliable -- dreadful for any hotel today. Third, television reception and channel options are weak. It is an extremely nice 3-star hotel as is; to meet 4-star standards, improvements need to be made, particularly in terms of the staff.”

- The bellhops were very friendly, the front desk personnel were cold. A hotel that caters to business should have a reclining chair in the room.
“The hotel lobby was being remodeled. Work was completed while we were there. With the exception of the front desk staff the personnel were very friendly. The bed and bathroom were very nice. The restaurant was expensive. Eat somewhere else. Parking was very expensive. I would not stay at this hotel. It was not worth the price.”

- Great room.
- Charged me $16.88 for jelly beans and peanuts which we did not eat and they did not remove the charge from the bill as they said they would.
“Great physical hotel. However, upset because they charged us $16.88 for peanuts and jelly beans in our room which we did not eat. They said it was removed from our bill, but they did not as we had the $16.88 charge on our credit card three days later. Very poor customer relations at this hotel.”

- This hotel was very clean, comfortable, and in a great location.
- The hotel was very expensive, there were not enough comp. services, and the staff was not as knowledgeable about the area as we thought they should.
“The hotel was beautiful, comfortable, and in a great location, but very expensive. I would stay in this hotel again if I decide to visit DC again, but definitely not park my car there due to the $20.00 a day parking charge.”

- Excellent linen.
- No marble bathroom despite the promise on web. Irritating system to monitor minibar purchases.
“Central location. No great views. Safe area. Fairly easy street parking in the weekend.”

- Modern, up to date, bathrooms were clean, lighting was appropriate.
- Remote control for TV's has a delay making you concentrate too hard when flipping channels.
“Staff was very friendly. Hotel was clean and modern, bar was clean, but because it was dead, I opted not to sit and watch a game. Went to room instead. WiFi in rooms should be a gold standard for nicer hotels instead of something only the cruddy Super 8's of the world offer. Loved the hotel though. Enough to make it my hotel of choice going forward.”
