• Great staff, interesting clientèle, great Atrium small restaurant, everything within walking distance.
• Bed almost too comfortable, if one can say that.

“Was there for only one night. Small salad at the Atrium best I've ever had. While huge, plenty of space. Good space in room and desk extremely helpful. Shuttle to most places, metro at your feet, shops underground with walking corridor. Has feel of travelers/business hotel, time of the four major cities in their respective zones posted at front desk. Wireless Internet in room is 13 dollars a day extra, no free continental breakfast for a good cup of coffee there is a Starbucks located in the lobby. Atrium space feels great, and plenty of military around if you wish to feel safe.”

• Nice and comfortable, with a helpful staff.

“Good choice for lodging in the Arlington/Washington, DC area. Metro (subway) has station in arcade under the hotel. The arcade connects to other parts of Crystal City, so you don't have to walk outside very much to get some place. That's a plus in rainy weather, at night or even just during a typical muggy Washington, DC summer.”

• Big very comfy bed, soft sheets fluffy pillows.
• The walk to the elevator was a bit long epically with bags.

“Absolutely wonderful. Minutes from the metro with an enclosed tunnel which was nice since it was raining when I stayed. Very friendly staff. Beautiful lobby area. Huge spacious room with great HDTV. Beautiful view from huge window. All in all I would DEFINITELY stay here again!”

• Quality with convenience with friendly staff returning customer.
• Valet parking charge.

“With some extremely tired travelers arriving at this hotel, The staff greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly hello. After being stuck in DC traffic, I was to say the least Stressed. But as I approached the desk with the staffs smile, I had my room key and was on my way in just a matter of minutes.”

• Convenient location to food and public transportation.
• Not very handicap-accessible.

“It was not very handicap accessible. I broke my knee cap and was on crutches so getting around was difficult. I never did find the handicap accessible entrance, rather only knew an entrance (from the Metro) that had several doors without handicap buttons (luckily my sister was there to open doors for me) and it had a very long (100 yards?) entrance with several ramps that were very steep!”

• Non-smoking, beautiful, staff, location, safe, pool, upgraded us to a suite!
• I truly cannot think of a thing.

“It is absolutely at least a four star hotel, considering all the amenities, services and decor. The Crystal Gateway Marriott rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the surroundings are luxurious (with the rooms having a modern/transitional decor) there are quite a few places to eat and/or get a drink on site. The pool was wonderful in the evening - it is an indoor/outdoor pool, and sitting outside in the dark watching my dad in the pool after a day of walking in DC was lovely. (there were also two lifeguards on duty.) The breakfast buffet at the Mez restaurant was delicious (our waiter was fantastic, asking the chef what breakfast sausage they serve upon the request of my dad - thank you waiter & chef!) and we were able to comfortably leave our teens in our room while my dh and I visited with friends in the downstairs lounge. The phone reception was excellent. There is valet parking, or you can self park for $19 per each night's stay. Internet access costs per each 24 hour period, but we did not use it. The Metro is accessible through the underground Crystal City mall - when it is close to 100 degrees outside, this is really appreciated! We also love that the hotel was completely non-smoking. I cannot think of any negative - the staff was so friendly and responsive - I asked how much it would cost to upgrade to a suite - our check in person checked to see if there were any available, then handed me the keys, with a comped suite! I couldn't believe it; we have become Marriott fans.”

• Easy access to metro, underground tunnel filled with shops, about 10 minute ride to best sites in Washington, D.C.
• Only 1 complaint. We checked out around 5 am, checkout person did not speak to us or look at us - odd!

“Our interest was seeing Washington, D.C. for the first time. I would return to this hotel for the quick access to the clean Subway system- (no need for a car). We found the Sunday brunch very good at the hotel, found the indoor/outdoor pool relaxing- our room with king bed was like a suite. Exceeded our expectations.”

• Attached to Metro station and Crystal City mall downstairs, allowing flexibility in travel and eating.
• Meals in the hotel were rather expensive.

“Excellent facility! Helpful concierge service. Great location. Beautiful lobby with many spots to gather. Even has a laundry room, which we utilized after several hot, sweaty days of sightseeing.”

• Perfect location above the metro, the room looked great, the bed was nice.
• Only one thing one of the towels had some yellow thing on it that looked like mucus, yuck!

“The location is perfect. You go down to the Metro and get to anywhere. The mall is also good but opens late and closes early. I loved the room. The colors of the bed were nice. The half-circle shaped window let so much light in and a beautiful view. I liked the way the coffee maker was put; on a corner table.”

• Excellent concierge, very friendly, especially with children. The children were respected as much as I was.
• A woman at the front desk had to be having a bad day when we checked in, no smile, awkward conversation like I was interrupting her.

“Overall the hotel staff was excellent except for one woman at the front desk. My later visits at the front desk were much better. All staff acknowledged my children and didn't give me the annoyed look like why are these things here. (if you have kids you know what I'm talking about) We were in town for a burial service so we didn't stay long, but would definitely consider this in the future. The lobby connects directly with the underground Crystal City shops, restaurants and metro. The room was very clean; only wish it had a small refrigerator, for the kids. Nicely decorated, comfy beds, flat screen 32" TV, all connections, couldn't get shower water pressure to a median (too forceful or too soft), the staff made up for everything.”

“Perfect location to visit the Washington DC area. The rooms were upscale and attractive. I reserved six rooms for guests for a party weekend, and everyone was extremely happy with the accommodations. The price was terrific!”

• The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was turned back for the evening. The front desk was very friendly and smiley.
• The friendly front desk lady told me I had the wrong hotel and just as I was about to leave and go to the other Marriott, she stopped me.

“I stayed only briefly overnight. We arrived a little past 8pm and left at 5:30am to board a flight. The frond desk was friendly. The room was spotless and even had a very fresh scent to it. I'd have no problem staying there on a regular basis.”

• Clean, safe, attractive, outstanding customer service.
• Due to a series of unfortunate inadvertent errors, I missed an important meeting, but when I expressed my concerns, they addressed the issues fairly.

“Overall, my experience was outstanding and as Im writing this review Im here again because I found excellent in so many ways. I found it the perfect place to accomplish various goals I had associated with my stay, I wanted to relax, unwind, complete work without interruption, and be treated with care and respect. Each was achieved with my stay. An issue that arose was promptly resolved in a fair and caring manner. I'd recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a nice place to stay in the dc area or merely just a nice place to stay. Absolutely outstanding customer service at every level.”

• The staff was outstanding! Helpful, friendly, courteous.
• Upon check in, clerk was in training and didn't know right questions to ask when she couldn't find double bed for us.

“Starting with check in, staff was very courteous and explained well what we needed to do to check in and get our car parked. The lobby area was clean and beautiful. Our room was spacious, and very lovely. We had a little problem running the television, so an "engineer" was sent up to help us. He arrived promptly and was very helpful. That is what impressed me most in every dealing I had with the staff, all were very patient, friendly, and so helpful! We also liked the proximity to the metro, and the shopping so readily available. If possible, I would love to visit again.”

• Attentive staff. Prompt service for all requests (new iron, more coffee).
• Ten dollars a day for in-room internet is ridiculous.

“Great location, right next to Metro stop, and no need for a rental car. Beautiful facilities. Very helpful and friendly staff. Ten dollars per day for internet. Airport shuttle stops running at midnight, so if you get a flight delay and arrive late, figure out how to take the Metro (DCA cab lines are ridiculous). No late night room service menu.”

• Easy access to the Metro and shopping.

“"Convenient" would best describe this property - easy access from highways and Reagan Airport, then the safe access to the Metro right from the hotel lobby make it a winner. We parked our car when we arrived and did not move it again until we concluded our vacation. In would highly recommend this hotel to business travelers and family vacationers and sightseers alike.”

• The hotel was nice, clean, comfortable, conveniently located, near a metro entrance, and they had an airport shuttle!
• There was a cigarette burn in one of the bedspreads.

“The hotel lobby was beautiful, the rooms were nice, the bed was the most comfortable I ever slept in. You didn't even have to go outside to get to the metro, just down the hall and out the back door. They had an airport shuttle, which I had a hard time finding in Washington dc hotels. I would definitely recommend this hotel to family and friends.”

• The location, the access to the metro, the closeness to the Jefferson Davie Parkway.
• The $16 per day parking price.

“This is a well located up-scale hotel at a reasonable price; but, the parking charge of $16 per day is high and needs to be added on to the charges of the stay.”

• The hotel was conveniently located. I especially loved the food and the lobby decor was tasteful and stylish. The staff was exceptional.
• I did not like the small size of the beds in our double room. Fitted sheets would have been nicer than two flat sheets.

“We felt we really lucked out to get the Crystal City Gateway Marriott. The hotel was everything I expect from the Marriott brand. The lobby was urban chic. The food was wonderful. The service was exceptional. The accessibility to the Metro was also a key strength. The room decor was average. There was a great workout facility and I wished I had brought my swim suit to enjoy the indoor pool.”

• Great room, great location, beautiful hotel amenities.Staff very friendly.
• Room service and bellman were very slow.

“I would give this hotel a "10" because it was comfortable and had great amenities like an indoor and outdoor pool and a gym. It was secure. I felt secure. Also it had an underground entrance that led to many restaurants and shops and to the metro train stop to see all the sights.”
