  • Beautifully appointed with good service for overnight stay.
  • We overlooked a ballroom rooftop - couldn't see any nature.

“The hotel, and I am sure most rooms, are beautiful. Our room did not live up to the hype though, as there was no view from the window (other than the banquet room roof), the AC unit was very loud, and the in-room movies did not work. We stayed just one night, so sleeping was the primary concern and the bed was very comfortable.”

  • Price was awesome! Loved the large spacious room. The view on the gardens.
  • Concierge gave us false information.

“The concierge told us if we want to park our car outside, we'd have to move it at 9:30 am next day. We asked again, they said if we would've done that, our car would've got towed, coz its 7am max, not 9:30, its funny the concierge was who told us that. Besides that, price was awesome! Loved the large spacious room and the view on the gardens.”

“The Omni Shoreham is a beautifully restored historic property. The lobby and common areas are enormous and well-appointed and the courtesy of the staff is absolutely top-grade. When we arrived in our room I was stunned by the most thoughtful thing that I have ever experienced at a hotel: on the table when I walked in was a birthday cake (chocolate raspberry torte) with a candle and a personal card from the manager. What was even more surprising was that my birthday was the day after I checked out. Nightly turn-down service included a handwritten card with tomorrow's weather forecast. Our room was average sized, but attractively decorated and included a large flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi - as well as in-room morning beverage service - is complementary following free enrollment in their select guest program, which also tipped them off to my impending birthday. Valet parking ($28; $23 for self-park) had our car ready in the time it took to ride the elevator down. Room service dining was above-average, and the white-linen service - as in every other case at the Omni Shoreham - was impeccable. Everyone from the concierge to the housekeepers made this a wonderful stay.”

  • This hotel was both beautiful and historic at the same time. The upscale comfort helped make the vacation all the more enjoyable.
  • I was disappointed, the room felt as though it could have been clean. We found an old pill in the toilet paper roll, and an old raisin on the floor.

  • Staff was friendly and helpful, never a frown or harsh word. Hotel was beautiful and accommodating in every way. They worked for you and you knew it.
  • Entrance was hard to spot while driving in DC traffic. Could not find free parking.

“One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at. Everyone was smiling and courteous, very gracious. Grounds were beautifully kept. It felt like I was at a European resort instead of downtown Washington, DC. Close to lots of goings on in town.”

  • Located by the National Zoo, pretty area.
  • Room was located in the annex.

“The location is wonderful. A pretty area convenient to the national zoo Metro line. The staff was attentive and helpful. The lobby is nice also. But the room was located in an annex of the hotel which is like a separate hotel connected to the hotel. They have a separate lobby which is just a elevator area to the main hotel and farther still is our elevator. It is built on a hillside and the room's view was nice but you must go up 4 floors to get outside. The annex was older and our beds were less comfortable than I would expect from a four star hotel. The bathroom was a nice size. We did not eat in the hotel.”

“This is a fantastic hotel. The outside grounds are beautiful. The hotel is situated just 1 block to the Metro (red line) and close to running/walking trails. The outdoor pool is open (during warm seasons) until 10 PM and boasts a pool, two hot tubs and numerous chaise lounges. The lobby area is very classy. Internet is free, but you usually must sit on one of the bistro tables in the interior corridor to get a good signal. The rooms are very nice with a large TV, fine room accessories, a coffee maker and nice bathroom. I have stayed in this hotel many times before and will continue to look forward to my nights at the Omni.”

“The Omni Shoreham Hotel was fantastic, it is a block away from restaurants and the Subway which can get you anywhere in Washington very quickly. The front desk staff was very polite, efficient and courteous. The rooms were very large and had nice views of the park. The pool and lobby where also picturesque. I would recommend staying at this hotel to anyone.”

  • Great location. Lots of diverse restaurants within one block. Much better than staying in the capital region.
  • Parking expensive.

“Location was fantastic. Being close to the metro, great and affordable restaurants, the zoo, and safe city streets made our stay great. It was also nice having a very nice outdoor pool to relax in with the kids after a long day of walking and site seeing. I went to school in DC and could not recommend a better location than the Omni. The hotel staff was very friendly and the room was easily large enough for our family of 5. Expensive hotel dining, but lots of options for breakfast, lunch and dinner within a block away.”

  • Parking was $28 and the pool was inconvenient.

“This is a great hotel. It's convenient to the metro, 10 minutes from the museums and even worked well for coming home from the Nats game. We had a huge room with 2 queen sized beds. If you join their (free) select guest program, you get free WiFi and free morning beverages. Only downside: parking is $28 a day, but it's likely to be close to that at all of the big DC hotels.”

  • Had to valet park, elevators very small and crowded, staff confused about.

“Beautiful old (but very well maintained). Art Deco building is in great neighborhood next to Rock Creek Park and restaurants/Dupont circle. The huge lobby was grand and well furnished. Nice outdoor patio and dining. Nice historic info on famous guests and events at hotel. Room was well appointed, large and quiet. Only complaint was that front desk staff seemed a bit confused when stay was extended a day, they called and asked for credit card 3 times when they had already been given card. Despite that, I would still recommend this hotel.”

  • The movies on-demand was not working when I was a guest.

“While I was at first put-off that they offered me only a smoking room, when I requested the non-smoking room I waited a few hours for one to become available. What I received was well worth the wait. The room was spacious with a flat-panel TV and large bathroom. What was the best part was that it had a balcony with attractive views.”

  • A bit anachronistic.

“Walking through the marble lobby I had a flashback to 1930 -- cool, vaulted, elegant. Then, after a short brass-bedecked elevator ride upstairs, I started to notice the wear and tear on the trim, light fixtures and hardware. In any other hotel, it might be disappointing. But in this classic landmark, it felt perfect. Do you like antiques with patina? Do you recoil at the faux luxury of Vegas? This hotel will appeal. The only sour note was the air in the guest room (something funky in the air conditioner; it reeked).”

  • The interior decor was luxurious. There was access to the pool and leisure facilities. Very near Metro and it was easy to get a shuttle to the airport.
  • We did not eat in the restaurant as it seemed quite pricey but there were plenty of other restaurants around so it did not matter to us much.

“The hotel is in a good location, near the metro, with easy access to airport shuttle and city tour buses. The hotel looked well and the facilities were of a high standard. The rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was helpful also.”

“Great old grand damp, lobby is sensational. The history of the place is amazing. Staff was friendly but rooms were not ready until 4pm - place seemed always crowded. My room was large and clean and well located. My associate did not have as good luck - room was very far away from lobby. Location is ok - not as central as some hotels.”

  • The rooms were great, the hotel just had a nice feel about it.
  • The car park always seemed full, forcing you to use valet parking.

“My partner and I turned up quite late, and very tired after a long drive. The staff was welcoming and friendly from the moment that we got out of the car. They even managed to rustle up something for us to eat despite the lateness of the hour.”

  • Very friendly staff, upgraded room, great surroundings.
  • Our upgraded room had water damaged in ceiling, very minor.

“Great older hotel with a great history. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with our activities. They upgraded us to a very nice room with two queen size beds on our second night, we left for the day and came back and all our stuff was moved to the new room. Our new room had a little water damage in the corner of the ceiling but very minor. It was very clean and well kept and the pool was medium sized, but was very nice with great surroundings.”

  • The Omni Shoreham is has an interesting history, a beautiful lobby and wonderful staff but the problem is in its old moldy carpet and poor air quality.
  • The carpet is moldy, the rooms need upgrade and the business center charges extra.

“I am truly disappointed with my stay at the Omni Shoreham, I became sick with allergy due to the moldy carpet in the rooms. The hotel did not meet my expectation, I had an allergic reaction to the moldy carpet, rash and watery red eyes. Despite of the hotel historical reputation, the grandiose appearance, its wonderful lobbies and staff, the rooms are refurbished and my stay at the Omni Shoreham made me ill.”

“Historic, beautiful hotel completely upgraded with modern rooms and amenities. Spectacular public areas, the most gorgeous park-like setting of any hotel I know in DC. Across the street from a wide range of restaurants. 3-minute walk to the Metro and 10-12 minutes from National Zoo. I do a lot of business travel to DC, and this is by far my favorite hotel. It has a wonderful pool, so if I were vacationing I would bring my kids here, too.”

Very apologetic and made things right but would have been better to have gotten it right the first time. In west wing, doors slammed shut at all hours of day and night.   • It was close to the Metro even though we only used once.
  • They did not clean the room after we extended the trip one night.

  • Luxurious room.
  • Being told that our rooms were not ready due to laundry situation.

  • The location and easy access to the Metro station.
  • $25 for a rollaway bed, $28 a day to park, happy hour at the pool with $5 drinks and $7.50 snacks, the could not even put out some pretzels.

“Nice old hotel but long wait to check in and they nickel/dime you for any service that you may need. Most hotels offer these types of service for free, If you want to have a happy hour at least have some drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.”
