Bill from Yorktown Heights, NY
“This is a great hotel. It's convenient to the metro, 10 minutes from the museums and even worked well for coming home from the Nats game. We had a huge room with 2 queen sized beds. If you join their (free) select guest program, you get free WiFi and free morning beverages. Only downside: parking is $28 a day, but it's likely to be close to that at all of the big DC hotels.” Aug 13, 2008 by
Maria from Baltimore, MD
“Beautiful place! Had many amenities.” Aug 12, 2008 by
Jennifer from Montpelier, ID
“Most everything exceeded my expectations. Other than when checking in they didn't give me a bed choice. I requested a king for my husband and me. They wanted to give us a room with double beds.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Pete from St.Cloud, MN
“Great hotel, lots of history and the rooms are fantastic! Only down side is the bathrooms are the small and a little tight. Dressing room was right outside but that does not make up for the tight quarters in the bathroom.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Ned from Lisle, IL
“Beautiful old (but very well maintained). Art Deco building is in great neighborhood next to Rock Creek Park and restaurants/Dupont circle. The huge lobby was grand and well furnished. Nice outdoor patio and dining. Nice historic info on famous guests and events at hotel. Room was well appointed, large and quiet. Only complaint was that front desk staff seemed a bit confused when stay was extended a day, they called and asked for credit card 3 times when they had already been given card. Despite that, I would still recommend this hotel.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Dennis from Topinabee, MI
“The Omni Shoreham is a first-class hotel in a reasonably decent location in Washington, D.C. It's only 300 yards from the Subway location - making it really easy to get around D.C. This is my preferred hotel for travel to D.C.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Don from Evanston, IL
“While I was at first put-off that they offered me only a smoking room, when I requested the non-smoking room I waited a few hours for one to become available. What I received was well worth the wait. The room was spacious with a flat-panel TV and large bathroom. What was the best part was that it had a balcony with attractive views.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Marilyn from Windham, NH
“From the minute we were greeted at the door till we checked out the friendly staff and cleanliness of the hotel, were above all expectations. Thank you.” Aug 10, 2008 by
John from Fairfield, CT
“Walking through the marble lobby I had a flashback to 1930 -- cool, vaulted, elegant. Then, after a short brass-bedecked elevator ride upstairs, I started to notice the wear and tear on the trim, light fixtures and hardware. In any other hotel, it might be disappointing. But in this classic landmark, it felt perfect. Do you like antiques with patina? Do you recoil at the faux luxury of Vegas? This hotel will appeal. The only sour note was the air in the guest room (something funky in the air conditioner; it reeked).” Aug 7, 2008 by
Joan from Aquasco, MD
“The hotel is in a good location, near the metro, with easy access to airport shuttle and city tour buses. The hotel looked well and the facilities were of a high standard. The rooms were spacious and clean. Staff was helpful also.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Hal from Athens, AL
“I would stay at this hotel again.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Madeleine from Moonachie, NJ
“Great old grand damp, lobby is sensational. The history of the place is amazing. Staff was friendly but rooms were not ready until 4pm - place seemed always crowded. My room was large and clean and well located. My associate did not have as good luck - room was very far away from lobby. Location is ok - not as central as some hotels.” Aug 5, 2008 by
Jack from Worcester, MA
“Everyone from the reception to concierge to bell staff to room staff was outstanding. The grounds were immaculate. The kids loved the pool and I found the health club and running trail to be very good to excellent. There were 7 of us on this trip and I don't believe we could have been happier. Thank you for a great stay.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Nancy G. from Dunwoody, GA
“The hotel is older, yet has recently been renovated and is in great condition (except for the Park side Rooms). We had an excellent experience here - proximity to the Metro, local restaurants within walking distance, and the hotel was upscale, yet kid-friendly.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Rob from Iola, WI
“Excellent hotel if you plan on using DC's public transportation. Staff was friendly and helpful.” Aug 4, 2008 by
Trish from Topeka, KS
“The hotel was beautiful and the staff was excellent. This hotel is located very close to the Grayline bus stop and the Metro.” Aug 3, 2008 by
Josh from Pacific Grove, CA
“My partner and I turned up quite late, and very tired after a long drive. The staff was welcoming and friendly from the moment that we got out of the car. They even managed to rustle up something for us to eat despite the lateness of the hour.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Doug from San Clemente, CA
“Great older hotel with a great history. The staff was very friendly and willing to help with our activities. They upgraded us to a very nice room with two queen size beds on our second night, we left for the day and came back and all our stuff was moved to the new room. Our new room had a little water damage in the corner of the ceiling but very minor. It was very clean and well kept and the pool was medium sized, but was very nice with great surroundings.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Joseph from Robstown, TX
“Beautiful lobby, banquette rooms, good service.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Rina from Chester, NS CA
“I am truly disappointed with my stay at the Omni Shoreham, I became sick with allergy due to the moldy carpet in the rooms. The hotel did not meet my expectation, I had an allergic reaction to the moldy carpet, rash and watery red eyes. Despite of the hotel historical reputation, the grandiose appearance, its wonderful lobbies and staff, the rooms are refurbished and my stay at the Omni Shoreham made me ill.” Jul 28, 2008 by
Dara from Boston, MA
“The room was very spacious and clean. The lobby and public areas were well maintained and the hotel was situated in a very convenient location with a nice running trail close by. Overall this was one of the best hotels I have stayed in.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Mark from Chicago, IL
“Beautiful rooms, unassuming exterior, rude valet.” Jul 27, 2008 by
Dave from Naples, FL
“Spacious room, 5 star bed, excellent in-room amenities. Lovely outdoor cafe but, sadly, we were ignored by our waitress. I wish I could have stayed a few more nights.” Jul 25, 2008 by
Anja from Lake Worth, FL
“The hotel is located very conveniently. Walking distance from the ZOO, the Metro and restaurants. The people in the hotel are friendly and it is a good place to say, also with young children.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Marie from Acton, MA
“Historic, beautiful hotel completely upgraded with modern rooms and amenities. Spectacular public areas, the most gorgeous park-like setting of any hotel I know in DC. Across the street from a wide range of restaurants. 3-minute walk to the Metro and 10-12 minutes from National Zoo. I do a lot of business travel to DC, and this is by far my favorite hotel. It has a wonderful pool, so if I were vacationing I would bring my kids here, too.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Steven from Henderson, NV
“Great location, staff is friendly & helpful but, overall, I'd say they were the gang that couldn't shoot straight. Consistent errors in room service, luggage service, check-in. Very apologetic and made things right but would have been better to have gotten it right the first time. In west wing, doors slammed shut at all hours of day and night. Not good if you retire early or are a light sleeper. Very true and very irritating.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Melissa from Portland, OR
“I would recommend this hotel. It was comfortable, clean.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Todd from East Norwich, NY
“The hotel exceeded my expectations.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Hetal from Fairview, NJ
“I think the Omini Shoreham hotel is a central location and offers a courteous staff, and all facilities.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Ed from Mullica Hill, NJ
“Nice old hotel but long wait to check in and they nickel/dime you for any service that you may need. Most hotels offer these types of service for free, If you want to have a happy hour at least have some drinks and snacks at reasonable prices.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Jeff from Brandon, FL
“Exceeded my expectations, close to Metro station, many restaurants within walking distance, walk to Zoo, highly recommend this hotel when visiting DC.” Jul 21, 2008 by
Gordon from Boulder, CO
“I arrived at the hotel at 4:30 pm. My room was not ready. I was told that it would be ready in 45 minutes and I would be called on my cell when it was. After 90 minutes, I returned to the front desk and discovered they had apparently forgotten me. They put me in a nice room, did not have wireless access (too weak to connect). I was told that the alternative was wired internet, using the cable in the room. No cable to be found. Three calls and 45 minutes later, I had a cable, but the connection was erratic. I had expected to do several hours of work in my room, preparing for the following days meetings. No luck. Next morning, I asked to change rooms. Staff on that occasion were much more helpful and everything worked in the new room. My main complaint is that the majority of the staff I interacted with were apparently not trained to meet their guests' needs.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Tom from Concord, NH
“The Omni is a very nice hotel, but it is not in the Dupont Circle area of Washington DC, which I requested. And upon arrival I was sent to Siberia, where the other undesirable guests must be sent.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Tracy from Clearwater, FL
“Receptionist found out for us it was ready. Security showed up after we already had him bandaged up. Only one of our beds was made one day. They were supposed to bring 2nd key to our room, they didn't, and I had to go get it. They told me there was no self parking, only valet. We found out there was self parking on our last day. Had to pay $28 a day for valet parking. We never used our car the whole time we were there. Our air conditioner didn't work. We had to have maintenance come repair it.” Jul 20, 2008 by
Todd from Point Of Rocks, MD
“Large nice and elegant hotel.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Jim from Lansing, MI
“Other than being placed in a smelly room that had been used by smokers, everything else was fine.” Jul 12, 2008 by
Charles from Topanga, CA
“Great hotel, would recommend to all my friends and family.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Heather from Bridgeport, WV
“We were in room and it smelled so strongly. We had to sit outside the room for over 2 hours until a housekeeper wanted to spray the room rather than give us another room. It was the stay from. The customer service was the most disappointing. The manager was going to call us and never did. More like a 1 star at best.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Darius from Philadelphia, PA
“This hotel is dirty and it is not a 4 start hotel. The location is far from any local attractions. They house keeping never cleaned my room even after I requested house keeping 4 times. The managers were very rude and they charge you for any simple amenities.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Randy from Visalia, CA
“This hotel was a highlight of our stay in Washington D. C. Wonderful history and incredible comfort. Transportation and good restaurants very close by.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Kevin from Alpharetta, GA
“This 1930's hotel has been updated with comfortable beds, flat panel TVs and classic decor. It's a huge hotel but elevators were easy to get (although small) and the staff was very friendly. Hotel was about 1.5 miles from Dupont Circle so further than we wanted but hotel is a short block to the Zoo Metro stop so getting around was fairly easy.” Jul 9, 2008 by
Cfuller from Charlotte, NC
“The Omni Shoreham is nice if you're there for a meeting - that area was nice. If you stay in the Parkview or Paramount wing, save your money & go somewhere else. It's far from the lobby and pool and literally looks like a motel was added to the end of the building for extra rooms. The walls are thin - you hear everything your neighbors do & it's mediocre at best.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Brian from Huntersville, NC
“Very nice hotel in the zoo area of D.C. Friendly staff, very clean and well appointed rooms.” Jul 8, 2008 by
Gordon from Houston, TX
“Terrible, old, dirty, smelly, TV broken, AC broken.” Jun 30, 2008 by
Karen from Poquoson, VA
“The Omni Shoreham is fine for the traveler that is comfortable staying in small spaces and in a less than quiet location. The area seemed fine, plenty of meal choices, etc.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Michael from Great Neck, NY
“The Omni Shoreham is a large 4 star hotel with grand public spaces and plenty of meeting room spaces. Many signs and displays trace the history of prior distinguished visitors. There was an outdoor pool and garden which I did not have time to see. The restaurant had excellent food and service. The hotel is a 3-5 minute walk from the Woodley Park Metro. The hotel has a Park view wing which requires a 5 minute walk from the hotel lobby. I was assigned a room at the very far end of a hallway of this building - likely. But the room itself was up to par for a 4 star hotel.” Jun 29, 2008 by
Elizabeth from Goldsboro, NC
“Excellent hotel. I had 4 rooms for 2 nights family vacation. Breakfast buffet was A+. Subway 1 block away and McDonald's and all range of restaurants in walking distance. Grounds, pool and workout facilities all meet expectations. If not better! Only downside was bellmen. Were lazy! It was not really busy and we waited 1.5 hrs for bags. After 45 minutes I called down. They said they would be up shortly walked down 45 minutes later. They were still on cart by the street. abandoned. Guys standing around acting oblivious to our needs. I am not hard to please either. This is the only thing negative that happened here. All others very accommodating and front desk staff excellent!” Jun 16, 2008 by
Jen from Missoula, MT
“Great location for walking distance to Adams Morgan and Dupont Circle.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Scott from Rocky River, OH
“When we signed in, we were told that we would be called as to when our room would be ready. So we spent over two hours killing time. The phone call never came. So we headed back to the hotel and found our keys waiting for us. Then after requesting a room with two beds and to be in the main building with internet connection, we were denied. Well, after we went to the room way on the other side of the hotel, we walked into a room that was never cleaned from the day before. The blankets were all bunched up on the bed and on the floor. Needless to say, the bathroom was in just as bad of a condition. They gave us a new room a few doors down but still way in the back and not in the main building of the hotel. They did move us the second night to one of the rooms that we requested - but what a disappointing stay at a four star hotel in Washington DC. I would not stay at this hotel ever again and would not suggest that anyone else either.” Jun 9, 2008 by
Sandy from Durham, NC
“It is a stunning hotel, the lobby is gorgeous. However, the ceilings got lower and the hallways narrower as I headed to my room in a separate building. It is adequate, much clean like a Holiday or Comfort Inn. That would have been fine, but they they charge about $20 for the gym and another $10 per day for the Internet! Plus a tiny fruit and yogurt from the take-out place was almost $10. The location is near many good restaurants and gorgeous neighborhoods and Rock Creek Park if you like to bike, walk or run.” Hotel Representatives:
