“Easy in and out to go about town. Great place to be close to DC but not in it. Staff was friendly. Great that it had served Starbucks coffee in the room and in the lobby restaurant.”

  • The shuttle service to and from the metro, shops, and restaurants.
  • It is not within walking distance of shops or restaurants.

“The hotel was beautiful, and the shuttle service was fantastic. We rarely had to wait more than a few minutes for a shuttle to the metro, mall, and restaurants. Our view from our even- numbered room was spectacular of Washington, the pentagon, and the air force monument. It also had a nice 16th floor veranda outside the pool area, and a lifeguard on duty at the small pool. My only two complaints were the remoteness (as far as walking anywhere) and that parking was $16/day.”

  • The view of the city from Virginia was amazing.
  • Very noisy, very rude crowds constantly in lobby.

“This could be a nice place to stay if the people who manned the front desk and lobby had any idea how to manage crowds and keep customers moving. I'm not old, and I'm not a prude, but I was tired of the foul language of other guests in front of my kids.”

  • I enjoyed the bed, shuttle to the Metro, and free newspaper.
  • I did not like that I had to pay 10 dollars per day for internet access.

  • The roof-top pool had a spectacular view.
  • Location was somewhat out of the way.

“Overall the hotel was very nice with large rooms and very comfortable beds. The shower was great! The view from the room, we were originally given, was less than spectacular, but upon request we were changed to a room on the opposite side of the hotel that delivered a view of DC. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and the shuttle service to the Metro was prompt and efficient. All in all, the only negative of this hotel was its location in a somewhat less than desirable neighborhood, although we never felt unsafe during our stay. Would readily recommend to any of my friends.”

  • Health club is nice, but pool doesn't open until 4 p.m.!
  • Dark dank room in basement.

“If you are stuck with a room in the adjoining building, you have to take an elevator up to the mezzanine level, then climb a flight of stairs with your luggage, cross the bridge, then climb down another flight of stairs with your luggage, then take another elevator down. But if the elevator on the right doesn't open first, and the other elevator opens, you have to close the door on that elevator, wait till it leaves, then push the elevator button again and wait for the elevator on the far right to open, because that's the only elevator that will go down to the basement. Then when you get to the room, it's dark and dank, because you are in the basement. Internet called "high-speed, for which you have to pay $10+ per day, is hardly faster than dial-up. I had to go take a shower while I waited for my email to download.”

“Sheraton has gone somewhat downhill lately. Staff is not very helpful and has a 'carefree' attitude upon check-in and out. Starwood beds are the best in the business though and usually worth the stay. This hotel has the best breakfast buffet I've had at a hotel and I travel a lot. Well done.”

  • I liked the location and it was clean.
  • I got a smoking room when I specifically asked for non-smoking. I never got wake up call when I asked for it.

  • The location was good and the shuttle service to the Metro was excellent.
  • We had a couple of maintenance problems and it took at least two to three reports to get the problems fixed.

“The hotel was very nice; the only problem was that I had to go to the front desk on a couple of maintenance problems. The first room we were in the shower Curtin rod was falling off the wall, they moved us to a different room the following day. The air conditioner did not work properly, it would never shut off. They sent the maintenance people up twice to fix the problem and it was never fixed. When we checked out I told them again the unit would not shut off. The TV remote was missing the back that holds the batteries in, the batteries kept falling out, I called and asked them to get a back for it or replace it, and it was not fixed. The next morning I took it to the front desk and gave it to them and asked that it be fixed or replaced, when we returned to the hotel it was fixed. The hotel was a very nice hotel and if they would pay more attention to the small problems it would make the stay for people a lot more enjoyable. In the past I have stayed in Sheraton Hotels around the world and the hotels in places like Asia are a lot more customers oriented than this hotel appears to be.”

  • The staff was very friendly and helpful. They were able to answer all of our questions promptly.
  • The location is somewhat difficult to reach if you are driving your own car.

“This is a very nice upscale hotel with a courteous staff. Our room had a great view of DC and was spacious, clean, and comfortable. The hotel's convenient shuttle service to the Metro station runs every half hour. The negatives: Fees for parking ($16.00 per day), and internet usage. The surrounding neighborhood looks a bit impoverished, but other than that we enjoyed our stay, and would stay at this hotel again.”

  • The view. Take even room numbers to get view.
  • Hotel is very tired and worn. Badly needs a rehab.

“This hotel is very worn out. Furniture is cheap, worn and dirty. Carpet old and buckling. Nothing works right. 10 dollars a day for Internet 16 dollars to park, no fridge in room, maybe 15 TV channels with no premiums like HBO. If not for the view there would be absolutely nothing to recommend the room. However, in the even numbered rooms (mine was 12 floor) the view of DC is fantastic...”

  • Mattresses! Spacious rooms.
  • Coffee makers were terrible. Room service extra charges are extreme & in room TV/Internet service is inadequate.

“Overall, it was great as far as comfort. Nice bedding, etc. Mattresses should be railed to box springs though, kept slipping, very annoying. Room service gratitude's and service charges made a 16 dollar salad into a $30 charge. that was a bit extreme.”

  • Shuttles to airport and metro center. Food is good.
  • Too low water pressure to take a proper shower.

“Overall the hotel is good. Their shuttles to the airport and metro center are very helpful. Good food. Nice and clean, friendly staff. But the water pressure in the bath shower is extremely low. You can't take a proper shower, or shampoo. When we asked their maintenance to take a look, they changed our room. But the situation was same in the new room.”

  • Location not able to walk to any shop or restaurants.

“The location of the hotel makes walking to shop and restaurants not possible. But they do have a shuttle that runs every half hour to the local metro stop. Staff was friendly and helpful. Asked for a room on the north side facing Washington and was assigned one with a great view of DC.”

  • Being awakened at 3:00 am for a false fire alarm.

“My only complaint is that during the false fire alarm, management did not give the guests any information about what was happening or when it was safe to return to our rooms. We had to figure that out for ourselves when we saw the firemen packing up their gear and getting ready to leave.”

  • They charge for parking! I paid $32.oo for two days.

“Although the inside of the hotel is nice, the outside is very unappealing. What bothered me the most was, the charge for parking. In all the years I have traveled, I have never had to pay for parking. I will not stay at a hotel that charges for parking. I will dispute the charges since it was not previously disclosed.”

  • Free shuttle service to metro (subway) station. Clean rooms, quiet, friendly staff.
  • The parking was $16 per night for park-your-own car. You do have in-and-out privileges throughout the day.

“We were very pleased with this hotel! It sits just at the edge of Washington DC, very close to the pentagon, so you are very close to the tourist sites without being in a busy business area. The staff was very friendly, helpful, and professional, and made every experience from cashing a traveler's check to answering questions very smooth. The complementary shuttle service ran every 30 minutes from the lobby with round-trip service to the capitol city subway station or the airport. If you were to request other locations, the staff would try to arrange transportation on their shuttle within a reasonable distance. The shuttles were roomy, clean, and convenient. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay at this hotel again on our next trip to the dc area!”

  • The breakfast buffet was delicious!
  • The hotel shuttle to the metro was inconsistent and the shuttles smelled.

“I expected a lot more from a Sheraton hotel. As I stated earlier, the shuttle service was inconsistent with their pick up times and both shuttles smelled bad. The bell desk was not helpful in booking tours. They discouraged me from booking a tour because they said the bus would not stop at the hotel. However, I called the tour company directly and they did pick us up in front of the hotel. The front desk staff was friendly and did accommodate us with a rollaway bed at no cost.”

We had requested 2 beds, upon checking in we were told there were no doubles available unless we wanted to upgrade to club level for an extra 40$ per day. We were told that with the upgrade you would get Breakfast and Dinner included in the club lounge upstairs. Well they don't offer dinner in the club lounge upstairs only breakfast and Hor'dourves. On top of that there was no mention of the 16$ per day parking charge it only showed up on my bill at checkout. Other than that the City view was quite impressive.”
