“Hotel was dirty and stinky. Its a old original style Holiday Inn that needs a lot of work in their common areas. Rooms were not bad. Lobby lounge was disgusting with a TV show playing. Too disgusting to even drink there. I went across street to another place.”

• The bathroom.

“The room was dirty, dingy. The bathroom was in disrepair and the shower looked like it was ready to fall apart. They attached a towel rack to the wall using a board and left the ends unpainted and splintered after they cut the wood to size. It was kind of comical how bad it looked for a major chain hotel! Wall paper peeling off walls in room, water pouring on floor from tub leak, poor flushing toilet. Shower tiles loose, mismatched, different color grout. TV reception bad with lost signal several times a minute. Room smelled like an ashtray, although I requested non-smoking. The restaurant in lobby was horrible. The Breakfast food was below poor, lousy tasting, low quality yet high priced. I would recommend to anyone to spend their money elsewhere.”

• Cleanliness, unsatisfactory - bedbugs, they bite!

“Hotel had bedbugs. Staff was unfriendly, maintenance staff can't fix a thing! Extremely noisy - hotel needs to be remodeled! Carpet dirty, everything was terrible. I do not recommend anyone to stay here!”

• Driving directions were unclear, signage poor, and construction kept us lost. No lights on the road leading to the property.

• The hotel was next to the Eisenhower Metro stop, which allowed us to get all over DC without having to rent a car.
• The front desk person was not very pleasant. Maybe he was having an off day.

“We loved the location because we wanted to be near a Metro stop. The hotel has a restaurant but it was pricey. There is a steakhouse nearby and a Starbucks. Also near the IMAX/movies. The room was clean and spacious. We would stay here again.”

• One block away from Washington Metro.
• There was a power outage and they did not automatically offer free breakfast.

“Clean, however I did not like the old feel of the bed linens. The bathroom was dated. Overall it seemed stuck in a pat decade, you can taste the use.”

• Lobby was pretty but very noisy with an indoor pool filled with teens right next to it.
• Noisy teens in pool next to the lobby swimming was out.

“Ok to stay if you are a business traveler Ok if you want to be there with family and want a big pool available I saw nothing romantic about it they had to change the room because (even though I called the day before) that I am disabled and need special facility they gave me a much nicer room but no disability bathroom.”

• There was almost no smell. It seemed old but clean.
• No continental breakfast and it seemed about dated.

“I was pleased with the staff and cleanliness of the hotel. There was almost no smell in the lobby or room. The hotel seemed a bit dated and in need of updating, but it was still a pleasant stay.”

• I liked nothing.
• Dirty carpet, mold in the bath tub, leaking toilet, two small beds intend on large, dirty bar, outdated hotel overall, poor lobby. etc.

“I would not recommended this hotel to anybody, this facility needs to be renovated, closed, or paying money to the guest for staying there. Furthermore I clearly felt disappointed for my money. The Hotel staff was absolutely unwilling to provide me a different room. I even had the maintenance guy fixing the toilet at 11:oopm at night. However, I am staying 50-80 night a year in a hotel across the entire country, I am doing professional traveling worldwide for 12 years, but this hotel was by far the worse for my money.”

• Metro station approx 1/4 mile away from hotel and the hotel staff was great.
• The hotel's location was the biggest problem, no restaurant or bar within walking distance.

“The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. When ever we needed something they were there to help, they even got us a room before our scheduled check in time. Over all, the hotel was a little better than average. The main problem the hotel was the location. It was located near a Metro station however there were not any restaurants or bars within walking distance of the hotel.”

• The hotel provided an indoors pool and gym.
• The staff wasn't that friendly, the food was moderate at best, and the overall feel wasn't that great.

“This hotel is perfect for a business traveler that's not expecting a lot and is only in town for a few days. The nicest part of the hotel is the indoor pool and the gym facilities. Other than that don't expect too much.”

• It was close to the metro.
• It was very old, the staff was unfriendly.

“Although close to a Metro station, that was and is the only positive about this hotel. Not only did the elevator play continuous 50s music but I think they did that because that is probably when this hotel was built. It is old and desperately needs to be remodeled. The staff was not helpful or friendly at all. The bed was uncomfortable and the bathrooms too small. The hotel smelled and felt just plain bad.”

• They need to update the bedding, I thought all Holiday Inns had, they have not.

• Pool was too cold, Very limited movie selection.

“They gave us a nice room on the 9th floor and it was a non-smoking room as I had requested by phone. Our floor was very quiet. The beds had very thick mattresses and were comfortable. The hotel seemed older, but was in good shape. It was very easy to find and near the Eisenhower (yellow) metro station and Mount Vernon. Our three kids ate free at the breakfast buffet every morning which had eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast strips, cold cereal, Danish, whole fruit and several types of juice. The hot food was mediocre, but overall not a bad buffet. You could also order from the menu if you wished. They have an indoor pool, but it was too cold for us. Not a large cable TV selection and a poor movie selection (about 7 movies to choose from). One of the nicest front desks we've ever experienced!”

“Needs renovations. Lobby is very small and appears to be in the back of hotel. I did this & explained my partner is 6'3. They were not accommodating at all on the phone, not customer receptive at all. Very disappointed. With phone call. Ironically when we checked in the hotel clerk was really nice. Their day time employees are much friendlier then the night time employees.”

“This hotel is economical. Convenient to the subway, great for weekend outings. There is no charge for parking (an advantage over staying in crystal city). The hotel is near old town Alexandria and really there's nothing not to like but the bathroom sink and the broken ice machine on the 7th floor.”

• Loud pipes, worrisome staff, not 2.5 stars.

“While convenient in the Alexandria area, this hotel is aging. Loud pipes and water sounds. Worst was credit card security. They imprinted my card at check in - but lost that and had to have me come down to the front desk to give them payment info. Where did my credit card and personal info go? I'm a little worried about that.”

• Inside of rooms seemed newly remodeled  nice.
• Very loud lobby. Reception spilled out into common areas.

“When we arrived, a wedding reception in their catering hall had overflowed into the lobby, making it chaotic & loud. Also, the music in their lounge was loud. Desk staff was polite & efficient. We went to our room and were pleasantly surprised. The beds were very comfortable and the decor nice. Due to a storm, their satellite TV was down to about 3 channels.”

• The morning buffet was awful.

“The hotel was great, but the pool does not open until 11 am. The restaurant was awful. The food looked and tasted like it was sitting around for hours. Also, I thought kids ate free, but I had three kids under 12 and had to pay for all of them. The restaurants were one of the worst I have ever been too and regretted not looking at the buffet prior.”

• Its right at the DC metro Station trains runs until 3 a.m. There are movie theaters restaurants and shopping nearby.
• Small dated bathroom.

“A nice basic hotel with nice facilities and convenient to everything including the DC Metro system. The people are friendly. Did I mention free parking, and right at the Subway system.”

• Hotel staffs were very professional, called to check up on us after we had settled.
• The lobby and connecting hallways are small and crowd easily.

“Overall, this was a great place to stay. The front desk called to make sure the room was alright and asked if there was anything they could do to improve my stay. Even with major highway constructions in the area, it was easy to find. The indoor pool is a great place to take the kids. There is a crypt connected to the parking lot. It is nicely kept, but I don't understand why it is attached to the hotel. Many of the guests walked out to see this. There was nothing posted as to why this was here, it remains a mystery to me. This was our view from our 8th story window. I would stay in this hotel the next time I visit D.C. Easy highway access, very short drive to all attractions.”

• This hotel was in a great location; right across from the Metro.
• The shower stall in the room was very small. My boyfriend is 6' 4" and he had a hard time moving around.

“This Holiday Inn was nice for what we were doing. We just needed a quality, safe hotel near D.C. It was within walking distance to the Metro, which was great. The beds were not as comfortable as some, but they were fine. The shower stall was very small. My boyfriend is 6' 4" and had a hard time moving around. His head almost touched the ceiling! All in all, I would definitely stay in this hotel again.”

• Free wireless internet, big parking lot.
• Dirty elevator, bathtub doesn't drain.

“This hotel is not as good as 2.5-star should be. The elevator is old and dirty inside, make you feel like you were in a hotel of 30s. The bathtub doesn't drain well during shower so basically you need to stand in water of ankle high. Parking lot is big. Wireless internet is free. Swimming pool closed at 10 PM that is too early.”

• Showing its age, needs renovating.

“Although the rooms were clean, the hotel is showing its age. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Some of the best hotel staff I have seen! Its location puts it minutes from the metro station, making getting in and out of DC a breeze. I'm sure we'll stay there again.”

• Very clean, spacious. Great for the price and out side of Alexandria's center. The train ride was 20 minutes to DC.
• The walls seemed a little thin at times, you could hear other people talking. The front desk service was horrible.

“Overall, the hotel was great for the price. It came with amenities such as a pool and gym. When I called the front desk they never came with the mouth wash I had forgotten.”

• I really liked the hotel Hilton in Alexandria, I would recommended that one.
• holiday inn was very busy around it and not a relaxed feel to it and that's why you go on vacation

“I have stayed in many 4 and 5 star hotels, this place had every thing that they have and they make you feel welcome. For what seems like an older hotel everything was clean and well maintained. Room service has great prices.”
