“Highly recommended although somewhat out of the way, as is often typical of Marriott Courtyards. Attractive decor - restrained, elegant, and never garish. Comfortable beds. Impeccably clean.”

• Wired internet, after I was told where the Ethernet cable was, I like it better than wireless.
• No room service or outside/contracted room service.

• Our vehicle was stolen.

“We will never stay here again. Hotel did not provide good security and would not even surrender security camera to police. At the least we should get a refund for our very unpleasant stay”

• It would have been nice to have van service to DCA.

“It was clean and as expected. The only thing that saved me was the closeness to the Metro rail. I need van service to and from airports and I thought this hotel was close enough to have such service but it did not provide it.”

“The hotel was nice, but it really should provide a shuttle to/from National airport. Their neighboring hotel the Holiday Inn does however provide one and Im would be more likely to stay there in the future&”

• Extremely nice front desk staff. Very helpful!
• The bathroom towels were actually a little stiff. Could have been softer.

“I have stayed many times at Courtyard Marriotts, because they are generally very consistent. With the exception of towels in the bathroom that could have been a little softer, everything else that I dealt with at the hotel was fine. The location to my destinations was exceptionally convenient, and I felt safe and comfortable at all times.”

• Marriott always feels dignified.
• Location not near Alexandria downtown, oddly indifferent front desk, room not good for working or relaxing.

“By Marriott standards a bit odd. As a high rise it did not feel like a courtyard. The room was very antiseptic. The best part was the restaurant lounge area which had Wi-Fi, a flat screen and very comfortable places to work.”

• Room size, internet service, comfortable beds, hot water and good water pressure. Non smoking property.
• Would have liked to have soda, snack machines on floors.

“I have stayed in many hotels and also have worked for 3 upscale hotels her in Virginia. The front desk staff could have been more cheerful and friendly. At the time I checked in there were two female agents at the desk and were so stand offish. There may have been 5 words said between the person that checked me in and myself. I don't know Marriotts training methods but everyone should know how to greet guest when they arrive at your property. There was one gentleman that was very pleasant. I had originally had one reservation and need to add a day. My question to the desk agent was "will I have to check out of the room if you are not sold out since I have extended my stay for one more night? Her reply was yes. That of course would have been an inconvenience to me, to checkout at 12pm and come back at 3pm. So Sunday morning I went to the front desk and spoke to the man and he was able to keep me in the same room without the inconvenience of packing up and coming back.”

• The whole hotel needs more work to update itself.
• Not a great place to stay more then a night.

“This hotel seemed like it really need some updating. Somethings where updated like the bedding, but it just seemed old and dirty. It also needed more light throughout the lobby (this is just an afterthought on the light). Just not an over all great stay. They also do not have wireless :(.”

• No notice of water shutoff when I checked in. No water for 10 hours.

“The staff was friendly and eager to assist. The guestroom was well appointed, very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The lobby bar is not open but there are drinks available between set hours for purchase from the market. The staff should have advised me upon check in of the water shutoff the next night. No toilets, sinks, etc.”

• Friendly, helpful staff, quiet atmosphere, which was ideal for work.
• Too far from restaurants to walk unless you want to walk over a bridge on a very busy street.

“I only stayed a day to catch up on some work, but I quite enjoyed my stay. The staff was helpful and courteous; I liked the "grocery store" in the lobby. The cookies at the desk were a nice touch (and delicious!) and the chicken wrap at the restaurant was very good. The hotel might want to consider a directional sign outside the Metro Station. I walked half a mile before I found addresses to let me know that I was walking in the wrong direction on a 95 degree day.”

• When I asked for a double bed at check in, I was told I did not pay enough to have that option.

“The hotel was well kept but front desk staff needs more training. The individual I met at check-in did not even try to look for availability of a room with double beds when I requested for one.”

• The staff was very friendly and helpful and free coffee in the lobby was great.
• Our first room had a broken toilet & we were moved to a not as nice room.

“It is very hard to get to and the maps do not provide clear directions. We could see the hotel from the highway, but could not figure out from the map how to get to it. It was a very confusing set of streets.”

• The room was very large with excellent bedding and lots of pillows.
• Quality of food served was poor.

“This is a great hotel to stay in if you are in the area for a short stay and you have access to a car. The shuttle to old town only operates in the evening and there are no restaurants and cafes adjacent to the hotel. The room was large with excellent bedding and the hotel had the look of a 3 star. However, unless you have absolutely no choice, do not order from the bar menu for a quick evening meal. Breakfast was $7.75 for the continental and $9.95 for the full breakfast. The selection was pretty good (but pricey) for the continental and they were willing to cook eggs from scratch on demand.”

• Very clean, quiet hotel. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Ample free parking.
• Nothing.

“Stayed Friday and Saturday night on a business trip. Room was clean and modern with a king bed and sofa bed. The king bed was comfortable. Hotel is close to highways around Washington area. Tried the full breakfast buffet ($9.95)and it was quite good both days. I can't really comment on local restaurants and sights as I was too busy to look around.”

• Nice, convenient and shuttle bus took me everywhere.
• Restaurant staff were difficult to communicate with.

“Courtyard M's are usually nice, this no exception. Good food (breakfast in particular) and while it was not as close to my business place as I would like, the shuttle bus took me back and forth quickly and without trouble.”

“We were in the Washington area for pleasure and this hotel was in a great location for us because we were continuing on to North Carolina. The hotel was well maintained and the staff was helpful and friendly. Would stay again if we were in that neck of the woods.”

• A/c noisy, hallway light spilled into room at night.

“For some reason it was very difficult to sleep in the room. Don't know why- rarely a problem for me. My partner had a similar problem. Room did not feel welcoming or relaxing. Bad feng shui? :)”

• The staff is friendly and the shuttle was on time.
• The room was clean the first day , but the next day the maid didn't completely clean the room. that the only downfall.

• It was convenient to Alexandria and to interstates.
• It advertised a hot tub on line, no ho tub, a bottled water was 2.00.

“This hotel was okay. I was expecting a hot tub because online it say so. The room was fine. no continental breakfast. The cost of water and snacks was high.”

• Clean, decent beds, helpful staff.
• Bar/restaurant closed on weekends, no fridge in room, weird TV.

“This hotel is specifically set up for business travelers. The bar/restaurant is closed on weekends. There is no refrigerator in the rooms. There is nothing close by that you can walk to. They do offer to shuttle guests to King Street in their van on request, which is nice. It is clean. The staff was friendly and helpful. There is free wired Internet in the rooms. The television is odd though - set up so that you have to go through the pay-per-view options every time you want to change to a different regular TV channel.”

“It was a good stay for the money. Finding it for a person who is not familiar with the area is close to impossible. I had to be about 40 min with staff on a phone while trying to find my way at night. Hotel itself is clean and reasonably maintained without any noticeable damages. Would help if they provide you with directions because map quest was completely off. And staff except for one person couldn't be much of help.”

• Too far from the metro and a walk through bad neighborhoods to get there.

“Had two big beds for me and my friend, and convenient wireless Internet. This location had a restaurant and bar onsite which was a pleasant surprise. It was a clean, attractive room and friendly service. Only downside was being 12 blocks from the nearest Metro and you had to walk through poor neighborhoods to get there, and the shuttle service was unreliable. Overall, a very good hotel that I would stay at again in the future.”

“The hotel had a shuttle service that kind of ran on schedule. Very clean, friendly, good for the business traveler, not necessarily recommended for family leisure travel purely because of the distance to any restaurant. Good breakfast at a decent price, no lunch, snacks, salads, and sandwiches for dinner M - F only. I would return to this hotel when on business travel.”

• The elderly man at the front desk (after 12:00 am) was extremely friendly.
