• Clean nice amenities.
• Room was cleaned before we left, front desk was not sympathetic.

“Nice hotel, however front desk was not sympathetic about another guest coming in our room while we were in it, before checkout this happened at 10:30. checkout is 12. they said they thought the room was vacant, they should not have come in before checkout, I had the do not enter sign on the door.”

• Shuttle to metro, coffee in lobby, great directions provided.
• No indoor pool, no HDTV, and no free breakfast.

• The room was very nicely done.
• The price of the breakfast buffet was ridiculous.

“The staff was very nice. The shuttle took us to Metro and King Street any time we wanted. I didn't like that it wasn't really in Old Town, nor walkable to Old Town. The room was wonderful. I didn't like the price of breakfast and they kind of have you there as there is no where else to eat. The lack of a pool was another negative.”

• Room decor is very nice.
• Very loud.

“All in all, we had an average stay. We were under the impression that breakfast was included, which it was not and quite pricey. Our room was between the elevator and a housekeeping storage room so it was quite noisy. Additionally, they were doing some work on the hotel, which resulted in loud noises until about 5:30 PM.”

• Down pillows and duvet, wonderful. Clean. Newly decorated/renovated.
• You can't walk to the subway from the hotel (no pedestrian access to the overpass). Only about a half mile, but 'you can't get there from here.'

“Front desk was very courteous and helpful when we had to call for directions and to ask that we were okay to arrive after 10 pm. Shuttle service to the train station was constant, and we never waited more than 5 minutes. As soon as our train arrived we called for the shuttle (hotel only half a mile away). Less than 25 minutes to the (monuments) mall in DC, very convenient for leisure traveler. Nothing better than a clean, comfortable bed in a safe neighborhood. Designer quality upgrades. I would use this hotel again.”

• I appreciated the public spaces for doing work. The chairs were comfortable and the space was quiet.
• The parking lot is long and you are angled the wrong way to park if you come in the front entrance.

“My husband and I were in Alexandria for a conference. The hotel was convenient to the conference location. We have recommended the hotel to a friend who is going up next month.”

• Bathroom was very large. Located in excellent part of town.

• WiFi in rooms.
• Poor shuttle service, doesn't start until 6:30 am, stops by 10:30 pm. Difficult to catch early flights.

“We wasted quite a bit of time driving around trying to find it. The hotel and room were fine but shuttle service was not very helpful. When we needed a morning shuttle (with our luggage) to get to the airport for an 8 am flight, we were told the shuttle wasn't running yet. When we asked for a shuttle to bring us back from dinner, we were told the shuttle had stopped running for the evening.”

• The name Marriott and room was clean.
• Lights were missing; no pool; limited channels on TV.

“The stay was okay, I had a problem with my room card three times it appeared to be deactivated. The staff was nice and friendly, but it was just inconvenient. Breakfast was quite expense and two lights/lamps had shorts in them. Free internet was nice. Two minutes away from the movie theatre.”

• The hotel has free internet in the rooms for your laptop, close to Metro, and Washington, DC.
• The bed was hard, one computer in the business center, and no swimming pool.

“Great hotel to stay at if your are looking for affordability in the Washington, DC area. Very close to Whole Foods Market in Old Towne Alexandria if you have a car. You could also walk to Whole Foods if you are a walker.”

“There was a fire alarm went off at 2 AM one night and we all had to get out. The hotel front desk told us that it was a test. Then in the morning, they said it was a false alarm but not a test.”

• The ample and liberal use of parking helped in our situation.
• The tub was clogged up with people's hair. My husband took a shower and by the time he got out you could have taken a bath in it. I couldn't take one.

“The overall experience was ok. The room didn't have a thick blanket and it got cold in there. There was no refrigerator so it couldn't be for a long stay. The cleanliness of the bathroom shower was awful. Only one person took a shower before it was backed up so much with water as if you were getting ready to take a bath. I had to wash my hair in the sink.”

• They have wired (not wireless) internet it works well.
• No room service or outside/contracted room service.

“Its quiet clean, well landscaped and comfortable. It overlooks interstate 495 (DC beltway). The windows resist noise. The PTAC below the window Air-conditioning system has a remote thermostat which makes the room temperature very stable. This is a nice hotel.”

• There was a very good shuttle service.
• The staff wasn't very friendly.

“The hotel was nice, it was clean and safe. There was a very good shuttle service that went to the Metro and King Street. There were good cookies in the lobby and a nice workout room. The water pressure was very bad and when the people in the room next door flushed their toilet or if they turned on their shower the water pressure in my shower decreased and the water turned cold.”

“Located just about 15 minutes from D.C. The local Alexandria area is quite cute and is worth checking out. Apparently its cheaper to book in the weekend (thur-saturday) since the d.c. business travellers are gone. Overall the hotel is clean and suitable for a budget minded business or leisure traveller.”

• Extremely nice front desk staff. Very helpful!
• The bathroom towels were actually a little stiff. Could have been softer.

“I have stayed many times at Courtyard Marriotts, because they are generally very consistent. With the exception of towels in the bathroom that could have been a little softer, everything else that I dealt with at the hotel was fine. The location to my destinations was exceptionally convenient, and I felt safe and comfortable at all times.”

• Location not near Alexandria downtown, oddly indifferent front desk, room not good for working or relaxing.

“By Marriott standards a bit odd. As a high rise it did not feel like a courtyard. The room was very antiseptic. The best part was the restaurant lounge area which had Wi-Fi, a flat screen and very comfortable places to work.”

• Would have liked to have soda, snack machines on floors.

“I have stayed in many hotels and also have worked for 3 upscale hotels her in Virginia. The front desk staff could have been more cheerful and friendly. At the time I checked in there were two female agents at the desk and were so stand offish. There may have been 5 words said between the person that checked me in and myself. I don't know Marriotts training methods but everyone should know how to greet guest when they arrive at your property. There was one gentleman that was very pleasant. I had originally had one reservation and need to add a day. My question to the desk agent was "will I have to check out of the room if you are not sold out since I have extended my stay for one more night? Her reply was yes. That of course would have been an inconvenience to me, to checkout at 12pm and come back at 3pm. So Sunday morning I went to the front desk and spoke to the man and he was able to keep me in the same room without the inconvenience of packing up and coming back.”

• The whole hotel needs more work to update itself.
• Not a great place to stay more then a night.

“This hotel seemed like it really need some updating. Somethings where updated like the bedding, but it just seemed old and dirty. It also needed more light throughout the lobby (this is just an afterthought on the light). Just not an over all great stay. They also do not have wireless :(.”

• Location and friendliness of the staff.
• No notice of water shutoff when I checked in. No water for 10 hours.

“The staff was friendly and eager to assist. The guestroom was well appointed, very comfortable and spacious. The breakfast buffet was delicious. The lobby bar is not open but there are drinks available between set hours for purchase from the market. The staff should have advised me upon check in of the water shutoff the next night. No toilets, sinks, etc.”
