“The room itself wasn't bad. But, after a fire alarm it took over six hours to get someone to reset switches for the hot water. No ATM was a minus, as was no dining.”

• Allowed us to prepare a meal in if we wanted/needed.
• They needed a change machine in laundry room.

“Location is safe and quiet but you'll need a car as bus and rail are far. Staff is helpful but at times seems understaffed. This chain is bare bones and minimal which is better for diy folks. Liked being able to do laundry mid trip and prepare a quick meal or two if we had a long day of sightseeing. Scheduling only one housekeeping day actually made sense and more ecological. We'd stay again.”

• Nice area, pretty inside, room comfortable, drains slow, but well. Nice place to stay.
• No negatives enjoyed my stay.

“This hotel was pleasant and nice. I had many friends and family. We partied in the conference room the kitchen in the room was very useful. Refrigerator was useful. Hotel was clean. All staff was friendly and accommodating.”

• I thought it was very clean and comfortable, the room itself.
• I phoned to get directions to the hotel. The two employees I spoke to could not give me directions from 1 mile away from the hotel.

“I had to enter a Marriot to ask how to get to this hotel. They two employees at the Front Desk could not give me directions to the hotel from one mile away. I was walking in the dark lost a mile away from the hotel and entered a Marriot to tell me to keep walking straight for 5 minutes.”

• Clean and comfortable room, useful kitchenette.
• Location is over a mile from nearest Metro stop, too far to walk in the dark.

“This hotel was good for the price. The room was clean and comfortable, and the counter person that was working when I checked in was both helpful and friendly. Unfortunately, after that it was difficult to find a staff member to answer my questions. My only real problem with the hotel other than the missing staff was that it is over a mile from the nearest train station, and the bus between the two only runs at long intervals, so walking is the only reasonable option. After long days on my feet in the city, walking the long concrete road back to the hotel was an unappealing prospect.”

• Spacious enough for 4 people.
• The location was hard to find and did not have a shuttle bus going to the metro stations.

“It needs a serious cleaning check before the guests come because we found the dishes were very smelly and dirty, the coffee maker did not work well, and some cockroach walked around the kitchen. Otherwise, it was a pleasant stay and we slept well there.”

• Refrigerator could have been cleaner outside and inside.

“The hotel was close to main highways, spacious, comfortable, near the train and relatively clean (not the refrigerator as mentioned). The directions we were given were unclear at a certain point which resulted in our getting lost and having to ask for directions. We found an easier way. I would recommend this as a place to stay, however.”

• Pillows were completely flat. It was like I didn't even have one under my head.

“Good location if you need to be in the suburbs in terms of access to other areas, but not much right around the hotel. Staff friendly. Adequate kitchen area if you need to use it. Extremely uncomfortable pillows.”

• I loved the convenience of the kitchenette - loved it!
• Non-smoking room but the whole floor smelled like smoke.

“I was very shocked at how nice and clean the hotel was for the price we loved it! We would like to stay there again if we travel there. The room was nice and convenient for a little one. We enjoyed our stay very much.”

“This hotel was great for us. Our plan was a few days of site seeing in DC without spending much money. The hotel is located close to 95/495 on the beltway, and is between 2 metro stops for getting into DC without having to do much driving. The best thing about this hotel was the kitchenette - full size fridge, microwave, stove top, toaster, dishes and pans. We went out the first night of our stay and bought groceries for our entire stay. The only thing I didn't like was that the hotel doesn't have housekeeping during your stay. Not that big a deal except that there aren't many places to hang you towels to dry.”

“Very small staff; lack of knowledge of staff about local transportation. Local Park and Ride for subway is best at Huntington lot off of N. Kings Hwy (Huntington Ave lot was full during the week, and Kings filled early too!). Need to purchase Smart Card to get out of garage, but you can negotiate with locals to let you out for cash and avoid the $5 card fee.”

• I liked the convenience of the refrigerator, microwave, and coffee maker.
• The hotel did not provide coffee for the coffee maker!

“The staff could not speak much English and seemed very unpleased to be working. It was clean, and the amenities in the room were satisfactory; However, they should have provided coffee for the room and also a refrigerated vending machine for milk, dough nuts, and juice, etc. There was nothing around the hotel and they should at least provide a shuttle to and from the metro, which was about 1 1/2 miles down the road - too long to haul your luggage and kids!”

“The hotel had a nice appearance from the outside and the room was clean when we checked in. Butte trash was never picked up, nor was our bed ever made during our four days there. The staff was helpful when we had questions.”

• Bugs in the room -4 days of being promised they would be dealt with. Did not happen.

“Although the location was a plus, there were bugs in my room. For 4 days I was promised that they would be eliminated that day. Did not happen. Also, when I asked about extending my stay, if the bugs were eliminated, they offered the room for twice what the cost was. Not customer service oriented. Very upsetting.”

“What a bad experience! First day, the door to my room was unsecured for the entire day we were out. The heat didn't work for a while until I try making it work on my own. The staff was unfriendly. Second day, I was stuck in the elevator for 5 minutes. When I reported to the desk attendant, she started having fun of the whole situation. Third day, the shower/bath knob broke. Could not take a shower in the tub, but managed to transverse water from the hand sink to the bathtub. With all these, I decided to move from that h-o-t-e-l! End of the story.”

• The toilet didn't work and no one came to fix it.

“This hotel had a friendly atmosphere. It had a small kitchen, good size bathroom, large window, good temperature control, and neat room. However, when coming to check in, the hotel staff were talking and I had to excuse them so that I could get to my room. The toilet in the bathroom did not work and they said the maintenance staff would be in the next day, but they did not offer me another room, so I used the lobby toilet.”

• No welcome information, explanation about thermostat, non smoking room signs had been removed and had been smoked in.

“Overall, very nice. Staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself lacked some standard items such as a welcome packet with pertinent information in it, Kleenex or facial tissues. The room was clean and comfortable.”

• We enjoyed having a kitchen in our room and laundry facilities close by.
• It seemed to be under renovation, but our room was not very clean upon arrival.

“It was a little hard to get to from the freeway, it was not very clean although it appears that they are doing renovations. We did enjoy having the kitchen area in our room. I asked 2 employees for information about directions, Metro and night tours into Washington and neither could tell me anything.”

“This is not a tourist hotel, it is a business traveler, longer-stay hotel. They do not have shuttle service to the Metro or a breakfast, but do have a full refrigerator, stovetop and microwave.”

• free parking
• location--we had problems trying to get to a Metro staion. Also, it was NOT what I'd consider anywhere NEAR Old Town Alexandria. A car is a necessity

“The hotel was basic and okay for its rating. THe front desk was of NO help to us trying to find a way to get to a METRO station without taking our car. THe drive into OLd TOwn was a little too far. We were not close to much of anything. Its an okay place to sleep but other than that not too great.”
