  • We thought the room itself was a nice size with a decent view.
  • So far outside of Old Town. Never would have booked had we known.

“Though this hotel was classified in old town Alexandria, it was a distance away from that location. I never stayed at a hotel where parking was an add-on cost. That does not appear to be consistent for none of the other hotels on our trip did the same.”

“The hotel was comfortable. The shuttle service provided convenient transportation to Nation Airport, metro station and Pentagon City. The hotel lacked free continental breakfast and free Internet access, which was desirable for a family of three on a prolonged vacation.”

  • Room was in an annex that could only be accessed by confusing tunnels underground or outside at night.

  • The shuttle to the metro was a nice feature, running on the hour and half hour very promptly.
  • The only breakfast option is the hotel restaurant and it is pretty pricey.

“I felt this was a good value for the price we paid. We didn't use most of the features, but did appreciate the very good maid service (plenty of towels and toiletries), timely shuttle to the metro and pickup from the metro back to the hotel. We asked for a quiet room location and did not hear any noise or door slamming in the morning.”

“This was the worst experience we had on a 2 week vacation in DC and Virginia. My wife is allergic to smoke and they would only give us a smoking room. Said they were fully booked but the parking lot had very few cars. I doubt they were. The room smelled so badly of smoke that we had to leave the outside door open and even then neither my wife or I got much sleep that night. My wife felt awful the next morning on our return trip home. Also, I wanted a place close to Old Town Alexandria and we ended up 30 minutes away and paid $20 for a cab ride to that area.”

“Room was run down; needed refurnishing. If I were traveling on my Hilton Honors card I would have gotten a better room. Maid service shipped a day. Will never stay there again. Really surprised Hilton would treat me and my companions this way. We had a total of 7 nights on this visit.”

  • The king sized bed and the huge tube.
  • The coloring in the room was bland.

“The $50 dollars a night deposit was ridiculous considering that parking was only $13 a night. I got the difference back when I left, but that needs to be warned to people prior to checking in. The hotel itself was great. It was very clean, the house keepers stopped everyday, and the view on the 24th floor is great. The food in the hotel dining area I had expected to get at least full on $25 but the portions was small, but it was lemony good.”

  • I liked the pool and the room was fine.
  • I did not ike the location of this hotel since we were not traveling by automobile and everything was a cab ride (14-15$ away)

“This was a fine hotel. However it should not be in the same geographical area as the hotels in old town Alexandria. It was at least a 14.00 cab fare to old town. THis hotel should not be in the same geographical area as the hotels downtown and old town. It was a 15 minute cab ride away.”

“The Hilton Alexandria Mark Center is a beautiful hotel. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. Their shuttle service is great. Everyone I talked to there seemed to enjoy their job, and wanted my stay to be the best possible. The room was great, and the view spectacular. There was a daily charge for parking, and a fee for local calls. All in all, I would stay here again.”

  • Very friendly and accommodating front desk host.
  • Our room had a malfunctioning toilet. We had to pay extra for parking - about $10.

“A great place to stay to access Old Town Alexandria for a more economical price. You can count on the reliable, high quality standards of Hilton, especially in this hotel. We did not have a chance to try the restaurant, but it looked delicious. After a long day of driving it was very comforting to check-in with a most gracious host at the front desk.”

  • The halls that led to the rooms were old and not clean.

  • Lovely lobby.

“Please don't confuse this hotel with the other Hilton that is in downtown Alexandria near the King Street Metro. This one is further outside of Old Town than most people traveling without a car would prefer. We expected easy access to the metro after calling the hotel, but their idea of close was having a shuttle that runs every 30 minutes. Very inconvenient and annoying, spent a lot of money on cabs trying to get around.”

  • Found a used enema in the room when we arrived.

“We asked for two adjoining rooms. We ended up down the hall from our kids. We asked for a room with 2 people and one with 3; we ended up with two rooms with king size beds. And, of course, there is the used enema we found in the room when we arrived.That said, after getting over the initial revulsion, the hotel did try to fix things and the staff were all helpful. The hotel is quite nice although it is clearly showing its age and is not being kept current.”

  • Upon check in I was told only one room was available and it was a half a suit the living room area.

“The hotel was great, however, they promised a double and we were given the living room of a suite We slept on a pull out couch and two roll aways. I guess they had been over booked with a conference but then they should have said that before accepting the reservation.”

  • The staff was excellent, theywere ready at a moments notice to help in any way they could Kudos to the staff

“I loved staying here,the rooms were clean and comfortable. Easy access to anywhere you wold like to visit. Enjoyed the pool area as well. The attached restaurant was perfect for our needs. Additionally, the shuttles were free, which was a nice surprise. Truly loved the staff.”

  • Had to switch room, non smoking room smelt like fresh cigarettes.

“At first site, the hotel seemed nice. Once we opened the door to our first room, it smelt as if someone had just been smoking in it. We were exhausted but just couldn't stand the strong odor, so we called to have them switch rooms. They did so immediately. When we got to the other room, we still smelt of cigarettes on our clothing, but this room was much better. The keyboard for the TV was broken, we didn't call to report it, since it was already after 11:00 pm. The next morning, my husband tried to make coffee, but the spot where he went to put water in the maker, had brown mold covering the whole thing. We did call the front desk for that. They sent someone up who took the coffee maker, and came back a few minutes later with a different one. That one had the same exact problem. Pretty disgusting, because if he hadn't been paying attention, we may have drank that coffee. We are not picky people by any means, but this was pretty ridiculous.”

  • Free shuttle to the Metro was VERY convenient with frequent pick-up/drop-off.
  • Felt hustled by the female bellhop to purchase tours through her. The Lobby of the retreat section smelled of cigarettes.

“We knew we weren't going to be at the hotel for much more than showering and sleeping. We did not use the gym or pool. We loved the free shuttle. We did not know until check-in that we had to pay $9+tax/day for parking. I was extremely pleased with the location, lighting, and safety of the hotel. It was also conveniently located near restaurants, etc. For no more than we paid (deal through Priceline), we were extremely pleased overall.”

  • The exterior of the hotel is very nice.
  • The room was nothing fancy, always muggy, felt warm and wet.

“I believe this hotel is in dire need of an overhaul, the rooms were out dated, the A/C units in the rooms did not efficiently cool the room. The room felt out dated. I checked out of this 3 1/2 star hotel and into a 3 star that was far nicer, with plasma TV and up to date furniture.”

  • Parking - small spaces - not designed for large cars

“Great hotel - We stayed here with our 11 and 13 year old sons. Plenty of room for 4 in the room - large room. Got a rollaway bed that was comfortable. Very cleand and updated hotel. Kids were noisy in hallway late at night, but security came immediately after being called and they no longer were an issue. Great fitness center - individual tvs on each piece of equipment. Great area to go running or walking. Convenient to I395.The parking lot was designed for compact cars. The spaces were small and when we got back on Saturday night there were few spaces due to an event.”

“This Hilton does not deserve the name. The carpet was worn and dated. The retreat section of the hotel is barely 2 star. The staff lied to us regarding two different situations - no king beds available (when we asked to move rooms one magically appeared) and shuttles were on the way (staff was off duty - not available to drive). I will not stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.”
