- The main floor was under construction, but that's a temporary thing, of course.

- The manager was very professional when we voiced our complaints.
- They gave us a room with only a pull-out sofa (no bed).
“The hotel was a little shabby, and the lobby & bar area were not well maintained or cleaned. The rooms were clean enough, but since the hotel was overbooked, they gave us a pull-out sofa bed. We were very unhappy overall.”

- 400 grade scholars arrived and tied up the elevators fro awhile.

- The bedding was incredibly comfortable.
- They charged for every little thing, even internet.
“With it's supremely comfortable bedding, our fabulous room with a balcony overlooking a pond with a fountain, and the amazing staff, I'd love to recommend this hotel to everyone. Unfortunately, I can't. While great for business travelers with expense accounts or well-off senior leisure travelers, it was shocking for our little family to discover that it was their policy to sell everything. They charged $10/day for a crib. Internet access was $10 a day! These are things that you expect to be included with your room at an Econolodge! I was half expecting to be charged for the little shampoo and soap! Room Service charges are expected; parking charges are unfortunate, but usual for a metropolitan area. But cribs and internet? Pathetic.”

“The exits were duct taped opened. We had black mold in our shower. The toilet leaked and the solution given to us by the maintenance engineer was to lift the lid and jiggle the arm after each flush. This was my first and last time staying at a Hilton Hotel.”

- I booked two rooms, but when I arrived, the staff said only one room available.
“Well, generally, the hotel was good. When I arrived, the staff told me there was only one room available, and there was no other available. So they located another room for me which was actually a living room's sofa bed. Comparing with the standard room, the sofa bed was not that comfortable though.”

- It's in need of a remodel - new carpets, new furniture, new heater fan, etc.
“We used the hotel as an inexpensive place to stay for a visit to family in Virginia. The floor we were on needed new carpet. The room did as well. The heating fan rattled. The furniture had stains. Except for the fan, nothing was really important though. I thought it was a good value.”

“Hotel was fantastic for the great price! Operator was very friendly but gave me inaccurate information about the business center services. Front desk was very accommodating and helpful in helping fix the problems this created for me. Bell staff had good intentions but didn't always deliver on promised service. Shuttle service doesn't start in times for early morning flights or meetings, so plan on extra taxi expenses.”

- The view of Washington D.C. from the room.
- The pool was not open at night even though it was listed as open till 10 pm. The city view room on the thirtieth floor was locked.
“The hotel was more than I expected. It was very clean and the rooms were beautiful. They could increase the number of handicap parking spaces on the top level of the parking lot. The location of the handicap parking spaces available was very accessible right by the door where you did not have climb any steps. I had knee surgery in July and not having to climb steps was very important. We were able to park right outside the door except for Saturday night. The hotel on the whole was up to our exceptions and exceeded them. It was located right off I 395 and was very easy to reach and easy to get back on I 395.”

- The hotel was very clean, food was fantastic (awesome crab cakes), and staff was courteous, helpful, and pleasant. Would definitely stay there again.
- The only thing that was slightly unfavorable is that its location is not terribly convenient if you're touring dc, but still workable.
“I very much enjoyed my stay at the Hilton Alexandria mark center. The hotel was clean, the room clean and comfortable, food was delicious, and staff was courteous, pleasant, and helpful. While the location is not the most terribly convenient if you're touring dc (monuments, the capitol, etc.), it is certainly workable with cabs, metro, and hotel shuttle. I would certainly stay here again.”

“When I arrived at the hotel, they quickly gave me my room key and then forgot that I existed. They left it up to me to figure out how to park. They never did nor offer help with my bags. Room service never came to attend to my room on the 2nd day; we had to call to ask why. After they still never came, we had to call again to request clean towels. The Hilton name was not justified with the actual service!”

- It was a big beautiful hotel with lots of marble. It had a nice fitness room & the room was large with a mini fridge.
- There was only restaurant within walking distance, but the hotel dining was fabulous.
“I was very pleased with hotel. I felt pampered with the amenities and the staff was friendly. I had to call the front desk because the thermostat in the room started buzzing when the air came on. Within 15 minutes they had someone in the room working on it. Then there was a follow up call to make sure I was happy. I liked having a mini-fridge in the room too. The view was nice and I could see the Capitol Dome in the distance.”

- I liked the room and the setting/view.
- The commode in the room we were given did not function properly and we had to move to a different room, which cut into the limited time we had.
“The overall grounds and rooms were very nice. We had dinner in the Finn and Porter and the waitress was very nice and the food good. Other hotel staffs were helpful and courteous. The only problem was the Retreat parking area and entrance was not well lit or marked. We had to switch rooms due to a malfunctioning toilet which cut into our limited time to sigh see. Other than that, it was a very nice place and we had a good time.”

“Large room, great bath amenities, needs to tighten electrical outlets in room (very loose). While hotel was in the grey shaded area of the map for Old Town Alexandria, it actually was on the far side of a major interstate and 4.5 miles away from the Old Town area. Not walking distance at all.”

- The waiter staff in the restaurant was excellent.
- Did not seem to care about guests.
“When we arrived we were treated very well. But once we checked in, things went from bad to worse. The check-in clerk said our room had a view of Washington DC, but in reality, you could not see any of the cities from our room. Our first morning there, we left our room and found drunken guests passed out in the hallway between our room and the elevator. When we mentioned this to the hotel staff, they seemed indifferent to our complaint.”

“It was a great stay. The inconvenience of catching a shuttle to the metro line was small compared to the price and comfort of the hotel.”

- Comfortable beds.
- Too far from where I requested a hotel.
“The hotel was fine. It was not in the area or location of where I requested a hotel. Even the local Visitors Guide does not show this hotel in the area that I requested. It shows the Hilton/Old Town Alexandria. My hotel was over 10 miles away from my business and I had no rental car.”

- Indoor/outdoor pool.
- Limited, expensive parking; $$ for internet.
“Hotel was booked to the max with a fitness convention and they stuck us in a smoking room. Convention-goers' cars filled all available parking lots, garages, and adjacent streets, and they crowded the lobbies and hotel public spaces with exhibits and seminars. Water aerobics instructors' classes monopolized the otherwise enjoyable pool. Overall it was not a great time, but on a less busy weekend, this hotel would have been just fine. The location is good, right off i-395, just a few minutes outside of DC, although not convenient to any metro stops. My only real complaint not related to the convention was that internet access was not included in the room price.”

- Good location-nice rooms.
- We were charged $9 for parking; this increased the cost of the hotel and was a hidden cost.

- The staff were very responsive to questions and request.
- Parking was very bad.
“The hotel is located in a very convenient place to DC. Very attractive from outside and even the Lobby is very good but the rooms were sub-standard. Less than I expected.”
