“Your family will be fine at this hotel. One staff member told me that I could not get a cot or a double room. Thankfully a shift change occurred and the next clerk went out of her way to help us get a double room. The shuttle service was excellent and breakfast was fine.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Joan from Grapevine, TX
“Wallpaper was falling down in several places in room. Asked for a new shower head and got one, better pressure. AC was extremely loud when turned on. Clean beds and maid service very good. Rooms were showing their age. The floors in lobby were dirty and the staff wasn't always happy to help. You get what you pay for.” Mar 16, 2008 by
Heidi from Houghton, MI
“In general, it is a pretty good 2-star hotel with a huge bathroom. The shuttle from hotel to nearby metro station is frequent and fast, but it did delay once during my stay there. The breakfast would be great if there is banana there. Also, the room carpet seems old and need to be changed.” Mar 9, 2008 by
Fh from Reynoldsburg, OH
“The continental buffet was lacking considering the price of the rooms!” Feb 25, 2008 by
Cliff from Somerset, MD
“Overall very good.” Feb 21, 2008 by
Lia from Hudson, MA
“Great hotel, wonderful price, amazing location! Recommend to anyone that wants to spend some time around DC area!” Feb 19, 2008 by
Gwen B. from Woodbridge, VA
“I would not stay in this hotel again because I requested early check-in a week prior to arriving but when I checked the hotel staff knew nothing of my request. The room was dirty, the maids had to come and clean it again. It was not accommodating or a friendly atmosphere to me.” Feb 16, 2008 by
Judie from West Seneca, NY
“Generally clean but not very pleasing to there eye. Nice continental breakfast but no where could you sit and have a relaxing cocktail before retiring.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Lissa from Accokeek, MD
“If all you had to do was sleep and leave the next morning, the hotel was fine. If you were looking for a romantic or family friendly get away, this was not the place to stay.” Feb 3, 2008 by
Beth from Woodbridge, VA
“It was a good hotel for the money. It gave me a bed to sleep in and a TV to watch.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Lee from Kingsport, TN
“The staff was helpful but they put is in several rooms that were obviously smoked in regularly. After the 2nd try at smoky rooms, I looked at a different floor and found that some floors had no smoking placards on the wall (but not the floor they were putting us on). After requesting a different floor, we were lectured about how the other rooms are really not smoking rooms and so on. They ended up providing a suite (which was a free upgrade, even though one of us had to sleep on a couch). The whole hotel was smoky and for those of us who are allergic to smoke, its a real problem when we can't get a truly non-smoking room.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Jen from Lakewood, OH
“This hotel was not in a good area, the cost was good but the hotel was not. The staff was rude and did not speak English very well. No one was there to greet us when we checked out, we waited for several minutes. When asked for extra pillows and blankets no words were spoken the things were just handed to us. We were told when we checked in that we would get a queen bed, but only got a twin (with 2 adults and 2 children).” Jan 3, 2008 by
Bryan from Atlanta, GA
“Hotel overall was nice. Great deal for the money paid.” Dec 29, 2007 by
Amber from Norfolk, VA
“The hotel is located right off of I-95, so was perfect for our quick stay. We spent Christmas night here, and wanted something close to dc so that we could go see the sights after dark. It took maybe 20 minutes to get to the lawn, and with the interstate right there, it was a breeze! The bed was very comfy, and there was a refrigerator in the room (which was a pleasant surprise). Water pressure in the shower was the only downside. Not really there. Overall a great place if you get a great deal!” Dec 17, 2007 by
Robert from New Castle, PA
“Not bad for price, however the advertised wireless internet didn't work in the room, signal was too weak, I phoned the help desk and after they rebooted I was still unable to connect. Once in three days I did connect in the hotel lobby.” Dec 10, 2007 by
Roberto from El Paso, TX
“I know check in time is at 3:00pm, we got there at noon and the lady did not allow us to check in early even that it was snowing and I explained to the lady that my aunt was on a wheel chair.” Dec 10, 2007 by
David T. from Houston, TX
“Was ok for the price. I checked in at midnight, and left at 5am so didnt have much chance to use facilities (or even see them) night staff were polite got a smoking room without asking for it! May use again, cost was good for area.” Nov 27, 2007 by
Cynthia from Tucson, AZ
“Good value is you plan on driving close to metro and malls.” Nov 22, 2007 by
Tom from Denver, CO
“It's barely one star in my opinion. The carpeting is filthy, the rooms are shabby, the few pieces of equipment in the work out room are broken, the staff is surly, etc. I could go on and on. It's all around a lousy place that doesn't deserve any stars at all.” Nov 20, 2007 by
Anna C. from Austin, TX
“If the corridors and tiles of the floors of your hotel are renovated, I would recommend your hotel to others.” Nov 15, 2007 by
Todd from Vineland, NJ
“This hotel overall was quite my expectation, even for a two star; however it was satisfactory!” Oct 23, 2007 by
Avis from Centre, AL
“The hotel had the sleep number bed and was quite comfortable. With only one elevator, it would be difficult for an elderly or handicapped person to walk to the elevators if their room location was like mine at the center of the hotel.” Oct 21, 2007 by
Dominique from Encinitas, CA
“Good location. Good price. Shuttle to metro station.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Ben from Odenton, MD
“The location and the price were my reasons for picking this hotel. The room was perfectly passable decent bed, good pillows. The bathroom was average, and on my second night I noticed some small ants crawling across my floor. 1 of 2 nights I was able to get the front desk to set up a wake up call. All in all, I'd say I got what I paid for.” Oct 20, 2007 by
Chris L. from Warren, OH
“I stay at between 10-15 hotels in the d.c. area each year. I always try to stay at a different hotel. I have stayed at some very upscale (5 star hotels) and I have stayed at a few economy level hotels also. By far, the comfort inn in Alexandria (van dorn street) was the best I have stayed at in terms of business travel. Not a lot of the upscale perks that you find with a 5 star but it was clean, friendly service and in the best location to travel the metro d.c. area. Best of all, if you are driving in d.c., this is the best place to stay to get out of town. The hotel sits right next to the on ramp to 495 / 95. For anyone who has traveled d.c., you know how important it is to get on the beltway as quickly as possible without getting hung up in surface street traffic; not a problem if you stay here. The hotel has a shuttle to the van dorn metro station that picks up and drops off every ten minutes. The station sits less than a mile from the hotel on the same street. This is going to be my regular hotel each time I travel to d.c.” Oct 19, 2007 by
Don from Stockbridge, GA
“Hotel was convenient to beltline, continental breakfast was quite satisfactory, rooms were as expected, shower was inadequate, overall nice base for sightseeing in DC.” Oct 16, 2007 by
Bert from Sausalito, CA
“One of the dirtiest hotels ever. The smell was terrible in public areas and I couldn't even go into the fitness room it smelled so bad. Fitness room was a joke at any rate. Comfort inn should be ashamed.” Oct 13, 2007 by
Hans from San Jose, CA
“Good location, somewhat surly staff, very close to metro, far from any reasonable restaurants. Limited television channel selections, rather limited breakfast choices. It is better than a motel 6 or super 8, but not by a lot. The room stank of cigarette smoke and the air conditioner seemed to be set at about 78 or 80 degrees so the room was warm and humid.” Oct 7, 2007 by
Nathan P. from Blacksburg, VA
“This hotel is a little run down. The staff was slow, especially at check in (when there was line of 5 people waiting it took 10 minutes for them to get a second person doing check ins). However they were generally friendly. The shuttle service to the metro was good, but it sometimes took a while to be picked up. I gave up and just walked some of the time. For the price and convenience of location, the hotel was definitely acceptable.” Oct 1, 2007 by
Jody from Lexington, SC
“The hotel was not up to the 2 star plus.” Sep 29, 2007 by
Nancy from Fairfield, VA
“I was bitten on my hands and arms woke up after one night stay with what I thought were a couple of mosquito bites. As I was driving home more itchy bumps appeared. My doctor said they were bedbug bites. After 4 days they went away. I reported this to the hotel staff, the corporate office and the dept. Of health.” Sep 29, 2007 by
Karen from Santa Ana, CA
“Overall, quality was poor. The front desk had a blocking program on the computer so employees couldn't surf the net-but then unable to help with printing of boarding passes for airlines. Breakfast room small, not enough seating, not enough waffle irons, toasters to accommodate the number of guests.” Sep 29, 2007 by
Eric from New City, NY
“Hotel is not worth the money I spent for it.” Sep 28, 2007 by
Brenda from Colorado Springs, CO
“The wonderful desk receptionist helped us arrive from our lost location, changed our room to a king sized bed, gave us information and remained friendly and competent while doing the same for many other travelers. Teresa, thank you. The shuttle driver was also helpful and sent us into old historic Alexandria for a great dinner at the Wharf restaurant. We also got back to Reagan Airport for a flight home the next day. This was a final night of many on the East Coast and it was real value for the money.” Sep 18, 2007 by
David from El Mirage, AZ
“This place is the junk of hotels. I fly a lot and stay at hotels this place was the worst.” Aug 18, 2007 by
Ye from Durham, NC
“Maybe it ought to renew some stuff. The air-conditioner of the first room I entered didn't work. But after I changed the room, it took nearly 20 minutes to open the door of the second room.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Andrea from Alexandria, VA
“Overall, I had a pleasant experience at this hotel. It is a moderately starred hotel and it met my expectations. It is conveniently located near the metro.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Evan from Ephraim, UT
“I really liked the location, shuttle service and overall operation of this business.” Jul 30, 2007 by
Joel from Suffolk, VA
“Good hotel for business traveler, close to metro and breakfast buffet was nice. But do not try to get any sort for service from the staff as they are cold and not very helpful.” Jul 28, 2007 by
Ani from Dahlgren, VA
“The hotel is located by the I95 exit, and is about 1 milted from the metro station. There is a free shuttle bus pick up from the hotel and the metro station. Very convenient.” Jul 19, 2007 by
Chris from North Bellmore, NY
“Great hotel for drivers. Close to major highways, just outside DC. Avoid DC traffic. Parking free so you can leave car and take Metro which is only a few blocks away. Hotel provides shuttle. Excellent free breakfast in AM. (waffles, cereal, bagels, muffins) Pool. Great for people who want to avoid hassle associated with staying in city. You'll save money on parking and breakfast alone!” Jul 15, 2007 by
John from Windham, CT
“Shuttle to Metro was great and generally timely. Staff was not happy to break a $5 bill so I could use the coin-op laundry services. Rooms were clean and housekeeping was great, however the hotel is starting to show some wear and tear.” Jul 5, 2007 by
Christy from Asan, HI
“If you're looking for no-frills hotel in a convenient location to DC and Alexandria, the Van Dorn Street Comfort Inn is the place to stay. This hotel is a step above an economy accommodation, with pool, continental breakfast, free shuttle to the metro and free Wi-fi internet. With the added bonus of the super friendly and helpful staff, this is a good choice for the budget minded business or leisure traveler.” Jun 25, 2007 by
Amir from Garland, TX
“They refused to give me a non smoking room. I had to walk and drag my luggage through 3 inches of nasty water as they were washing their lobby at 2 PM. The room was disgusting and hard to breath. Location was awful and the representative was not helpful with any directions to anywhere, their answer always was ' I don't know'.” May 27, 2007 by
Hsin-Tzu from Providence, RI
“Okay for stay.” May 22, 2007 by
David from Oak Park, IL
“Good value for the price. Convenient to expressway to Washington DC.” May 13, 2007 by
George from Marina Del Rey, CA
“The room smelled as strongly of smoke the first day as the last, despite my purchase and continual use of room deodorizer spray. And they stuck us on the first floor by the parking lot. I had rented a car, thinking that at least I could park at the metro stop and not be limited by the hotel's courtesy bus schedule. Hotel clerk dashed that hope by saying I had to be at the metro parking by 5 am or it would be filled for the day. It is quite far from old town Alexandria and is on the border of Alexandria, and as far away from old town as it can legally be, and still be called Alexandria. Cleaning lady had a perpetual scowl on her face which did not invite even minimal pleasantries. The hotel's wireless internet provider was erratic at best. I will never stay here again.” May 4, 2007 by
Noreen from Brunswick, OH
“Have stayed in Comfort Inn in the past. Room was clean and very affordable for the area. The free breakfast was excellent - selection was good. There was a nice variety to select from. Would definitely stay in another Comfort Inn in the future.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Terry from Smoot, WV
“I should have known what to expect when I reached the front desk of the lobby and there was a bucket full of Budweiser advertising a 4 for $4 sale! While it may be convenient to offer such a product to guests, it does not send a very professional image to guests who aren't interested in drinking some bud on their night's stay at the hotel. The fitness center was a room converted into a gym by removing the carpet and placing rubber mats down. The equipment in the fitness center was modern and looked fairly new.” Apr 26, 2007 by
Walt from Media, PA
“Hotel was fine except I didn't want to pay for a safe.” Hotel Representatives:
