• Rude, unresponsive service, bad food, no heat or air, non - working toilet.

“The rooms were charming, spacious and clean. The service was so bad as to be almost unbelievable. The heating/air condition system had been purposely disabled (for the season - we were there in mid-May!) The toilet would not flush properly - it took four to six flushes for the bowl to empty. The sound system for the TV was defective and the cable channel offerings were ridiculously thin - only one premium channel. Even the pay for view option was like some backwoods town. Use of your own laptop computer costs $13 day. Towels and robes were removed from the room as used, but never replaced. Room/parking keys expired on the second day of a confirmed 6-day reservation; also on the fourth day. The food in the restaurant was so salty as to be inedible. The drinks in the bar were so watered down as to be unpalatable - picture a few melted ice cubes in diluted mix - no detectable alcohol. The requested newspaper (WSJ) piled up at the front desk but not once in 6 days could it be delivered to the room - but they went ahead and charged for that service! And, worst of all, all of these problems were brought to their attention and were responded to by surly, unwilling, ineffective staff. Nothing could get us back to this hotel, though we visit in the area at least once a year. This was our fifth visit there, but something in management must have changed. Never again.”

“I have nothing but good to say about this hotel. The service is excellent both hotel and restaurant. Very safe area. Malls are easily in walking distance or free hotel shuttle. Each stay has been very pleasant.

• Convenient, spacious room quiet air conditioner, safe big enough for laptop.
• No door between bed and tooth brushing sink, noisy for second riser.

“Suburban luxury suite, at intersection of I-270 and Democracy. Classy hotel. Extra charges for parking and Internet access are a nuisance. Finally, a quiet in-room air conditioner! Excellent room layout, except need a door (like a pocket door?) between bed and vanity sink, so the first riser does not awaken the 2d riser).”

• Substandard dining. Badly prepared, tasteless.

“Although located in a soulless office complex, this hotel is clean, well-designed, and features a very efficient, friendly staff. The experience was only marred by the dining, typical of captive audience meeting hotels. The first steak I was served was inedibly tough, with cold fries; the second tasteless. Entrees over $20 should be competently cooked.”

• Thrilled with the spacious and efficient layout of the room.

“We were very pleased with our experience at this hotel. The room was very spacious and had a great layout. We love the fact that there were French doors to separate the bedroom from the living room. The room also had a mini-fridge and we were able to get a microwave at no extra charge - always a plus when you travel with small children. The hotel also had an indoor/outdoor pool which was clean and always staffed with lifeguards on both sides. The staff and food at the restaurant were beyond our expectations - extremely friendly staff and great food. We will definitely come back to this hotel!”

• The hotel and restaurant staff worked very hard to be available and resolve questions.
• The hotel did not provide a shuttle to the airport nor to the business section of town.

“The Bethesda Marriott was a beautiful facility with hard-working professionals committed to making guests feel comfortable. The primary downside is that they did not have shuttle service to the airport nor to downtown Bethesda and taxi costs are exorbitant. I was not happy to be placed in a room near the cleaning room and not be warned about that. It was difficult to work or to rest during the day. Since my stay was short, I did not ask to be moved, but wish I had been told of the room location.”

• Not much within walking distance.

“Newly renovated hotel sitting in beautiful DC suburb. Short bus ride to/from Metro rail station. Approximately one hour Metro ride from Reagan National Airport. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Location not near Metro or downtown.

“As a frequent traveler to this area, it is substantially below the quality of this Marriott, the Marriot in Pooks Hill and the Hyatt, which are the other hotels that we usually stay in. This hotel has large rooms with French doors separating the bedroom from the living room area with a refrigerator. It is family friendly but you need a car to get to it. We have enjoyed our many stays there.”

“Located on Democracy boulevard in Bethesda just off the busy I-495/1-270 junction, the Marriott Suites is a really nice hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms are well maintained and the facilities are in general, excellent. The only thing not so nice is - it is just off the busy I-495/I-270 intersection and kind of easy to lose your way from different approaches, and the entrance to the hotel is not very well marked.”

• Please pass along to Marriott that I want to compliment the head bell man. I wish everyone in my travels were as pleasant as that man.
• They will only run their shuttle bus to the train station. On request they should at least be running the shuttle to the main Marriott a few miles away.

• Beautiful suite - bedroom/living room combo - didn't feel at all cramped
• The sink in the bar was stopped up and water was close to top of sink. But they fixed it when we called.

• The design of the suite was very nice. We found it a very nice place to relax between our activities over the weekend.
• It is confusing to get into and out of the hotel.

• The suite was perfect for us since I was an outpatient nearby.
• There wasn't anything nearby to walk to.

The staff was professional, the suite was delightful, the pool and exercise facility clean, attractive and comfortable, the lobby attractive and the restaurant and bar inviting. It was the best place we have stayed in the area.”

• high quality rooms with nice furniture and good layout; bar/lounge area for relaxing after long day
• Gym equipment needs updating. It was adequate, but needs attention

• We liked having a restaurant in the hotel and being close to NIH.
• Some rooms are quite a distance from the elevator and hallways are kept very cold which can be refreshing but sometimes is uncomfortable.

“The hotel staff is friendly, helpful and competent. The rooms are comfortable, roomy, clean and tastefully decorated. It is a short drive to NIH where we had appointments. Since we had our own car, we don't know if they provide shuttle service to NIH.”

“A hotel that you will definitely want to stay at again and again. Service is excellent. The hotel is centrally located in the northwest beltway at the 495 and 270 allowing for easy access to all points in the Washinton/Baltimore area. A free shuttle is available for rides to the local mall and Metro station (subway). The hotel sports an indoor/outdoor pool, a personable business center, and a fine restaurant and bar.”

“Great hotel....but very disappointed in the Holiday Inn in LA where we stayed lst Jan. And the Hyatt on Sunset last Jan also was very noisy and not clean. Both should have been downgraded to 21/2 stars. Not worth being included in list for 3 stars. ”

• The lobby, restaurant and bar were all very nice
• Our room was rather small.. terrible view (rooftop of other portion of hotel)

“All in all - very nice .... staff very helpful. Check in and out were great... very fast and efficient.. our only concern was that the room was quite small and for all of the surrounding areas to see, the view left alot to be desired. For the price, though I still feel it was a very good deal !”

• My husband is handicapped - our room & parking space very close by
• Our room 102 needs to have the wallpaper repaired

“The hotel is near the beltway in Washington DC. Easy to get into city. Nice lobby. Easy check out. Not convenient (walking distance) to local stores and restaurant, but dining available.”
