- Still provides Ethernet lines for those without wireless laptops.
- Would like assistance with luggage when checking in and out. Air conditioning did not get quite cool enough.

“The hotel is adequate. Rooms and surrounding areas clean. Employees seemed pleasant and helpful. Negatives were construction going on 9-5 weekdays, coffee maker needed to be cleaned with vinegar as the tea I tried to make had a bad taste and beds were ok but not as comfortable as a 3.5 to 4star.”

“This hotel is right next to a fire station - a very active fire station. There is no way to sleep over the constant sirens. Additionally, the limited amount of plugs was a huge bother. You cannot have your phone charging and coffee warming at the same time. It was old and run down. Never, never again.”

- The staff was very courteous, friendly and available.
- The room itself was poor. There was old, moldy wallpaper in the bathroom, the room was in the part of the hotel (room 221) which had not been renovated.
“Friendly, courteous staff. Very noisy. I love animals, but having dogs in the hotel with irresponsible owners is unacceptable. Also, loud/noisy talking in the corridor at all times of night. The room, itself, was poor. The bathroom needed updating. This is really a 2 - 2.5 star hotel.”

- Newly remodeled rooms.
- There wasn't really anything that I disliked about the hotel.
“The Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg, Maryland is under renovation; however the work is being done during the day, when most travelers are not in their rooms. My stay was uninterrupted by the ongoing construction. The rooms have been newly remodeled and are well appointed, although a little small. The beds and linens are comfortable. The staff is friendly, with quick check-in and check-out. There is a cafe and an Irish Pub on the premises, although I was unable to enjoy either during my stay. I would recommend the Holiday Inn in Gaithersburg, MD to both business and leisure travelers.”

“The first room given, had a large stain in the middle of the room's carpeting. The second room had a large chip in the bathtub's enamel along with mold in the caulking around tub. After returning to our room from a day sightseeing, we found the maid had pulled the covers over the wadded up mattress pad that wouldn't stay in place because the sheets were too large for the thin mattress. The mattress was higher on the feet end for some reason. The cover for the wall air-conditioner was off. The foot stool for the chair was stained. The maid failed to empty the ice bucket or replace used coffee. Not very satisfied.”

- The hotel staff are very nice! I like them!
- The location is somewhat inconvenient (for D.C.) but the shuttle service is very good!
“It was a pleasant experience staying in this hotel! I planned the trip to D.C. Before I went there, I was worried about the location of this hotel because it was quite far from D.C. and I didn't find any Metro bus from the Shady Grove station to this hotel. But I did find out there's a free shuttle service between them. The staff were very nice, friendly and helpful. I like them. The whole hotel is excellent. It's much better than I expected for a 3-star hotel. The room is clean, spacious, equipped with microwave, refrigerator, coffee maker, TV, etc. And it has free internet, both wireless and wired. The hotel also has a business center with computers and printers/scanner/fax. All use is free! I will definitely come back.”

- Fairly easy to find, a big hotel.
- Too noisy. OMG, we arrived at 1 a.m. exhausted and those little kids were running around and screaming. The noise insulation in the room is not better.
“Overall it's a good hotel for the price, free parking. But I could never understand why Holiday Inn is rated a 3*. It doesn't even come close to some 1* and 2* hotels in quality. If I had the choice I would not stay there again.”

- They accommodated an emergency.
- They could not find my room number nor my key.
“I called the hotel from my conference location as one of the people at the conference was injured and requested I travel with them to the emergency room as I am an emergency room nurse. I called the hotel and they were accommodating in allowing my friend to check into the room without me being present. I did send the confirmation to the hotel with my friend. I appreciated their assistance. But when I finally arrived at the hotel tired and weary at 3 a.m. The young man at the desk could not find my name on the guest list, nor my room number or a key left for me. He was just filling in, but I waited an extra 20 minutes before the regular Front Desk gentleman reappeared.”

- Our room was situated over some sort of loud compressor - we didn't sleep!
“They also need to update/fix their games in the game room. The prize selections in the Claw Grabber are ancient and look it. The restaurant was so loud and service was slow. The entrances into the hotel aren't very well marked.”

- There are two areas of this hotel. The recently renovated area is very nice.
- The older section of this hotel is not a 3 star.
“I arrived to be told they were overbooked and could not accommodate a non-smoking room. I had called to request it earlier in the day. My room was disgusting from smoke, it made sleeping difficult.”

- I didn't like their bar, but then again their dining hall was excellent!
“This was my 3rd stay at this particle holiday inn. I loved it the first 2 times, but my recent stay was all around nice. The staff remembered my fiancé and I. they even remembered our Names. That was too sweet! The rooms are in good condition, although I would recommend staying in the newly remodeled west wing section. I love the new chef in the dining hall as well, he's food was far better then last 2 times!”

“The room was clean but not fancy. Two beds - one with great mattress the other with a flimsy mattress. AC worked great - bathroom was clean - fair price for the what we received.”

- The lobby area was very attractive.
- The room smelled mildewed, not found of the parking spaces, and too much noise from other guest in the hotel lobby after hours.
“This is clearly a family hotel. Kids running up and down the hall ways, teenagers having temper tantrums after midnight. I was not my type of atmosphere. Holiday in is not for the single leisure traveler.”

- Great hot tube and friendly staff. Good parking.
- Limited pool hours.

- Two types of internet access was fabulous.
- Bar was kind of dingy.
