  • Cigarette burns on the counter tops, old cup of coffee left in the room, very drab and nasty.

  • The staff is responsive, good room location within complex.
  • The parking area could use a bit more lighting for safety and security.

“This Homestead hotel was newish furnishings, well thought out to have all the basics that a traveller on extended stay would need and want. The kitchen was really good, new appliances and very clean. All of the unit is very clean, reflecting well on the friendly housekeepers. The front desk staff is excellent, giving late check outs and local info as needed/asked for. A Ruby Tuesday, Kinko's and Public Library are nearby, so one is good to go at this hotel. Exceeded my expectations - by a lot. Good facility, great on site management, front desk and housekeeping staff. The good people here distinguish this budget-to-moderate hotel.”

  • Room itself was nice.
  • Night clerk was drunk and took 57 minutes to get me into a room.

“When I arrived at 11:01pm on Thursday evening July 31 the night I rang the courtesy phone for over 10 minutes without an answer. Nobody was in the office, either. Finally, a security guard came and told me he would find the night clerk. 10 minutes later the night clerk showed up talking on his cell phone while processing me into the hotel. He was drunk as could be. I could smell beer on him from5 feet away. His eyes were bloodshot as well. He gave me the wrong room key and when I attempted to open the hotel door someone inside yelled that they were in the room. I could have been shot over something like that. It took me another 10 minutes to find the night clerk who was in the laundry room drinking a beer.”

  • It had a stove, micro wave, refrigerator and a great eating and studying table.
  • The hotel needs more amenities.

  • When someone checks Bethesda Rockville, you can throw them over to north Rockville which is nearly to Gaithersburg and not at all in area.
  • Cooking pot was dirty and knife rusty, and worried about cleanliness of kitchen ware.

“This hotel is perfectly located near restaurants, a movie theater & even a bar & yet clearly tucked away for just enough privacy. The room is a decent size but the mini kitchen with the regular-sized fridge was perfect for our needs. Definitely highly recommended.”

“This is my second time staying at this hotel. I like it because it is far enough from congested city life and quiet. I can shop for food and cook, and stay in my room to relax, if I want to. “The location was convenient for travelers to Montgomery County Md. Room was clean and quiet. Price is a good value for Washington DC area. Maid service is limited to once a week, because it is an extended stay hotel. You may have to ask at desk for items like soap and shampoo if you do not bring your own.”

“First they didn't have my reservation. Finally got a room over a half hour later. Then they gave me a room that was never made up. Dirty towels on floor, bed slept in, etc. I was there 4 nights and key worked only one night. Only desk clerk was not there and had to wait another 15 minutes before she returned. Disappointing stay.”

  • A place with so much wrong needs the front desk staffed all night.

“My first room apparently had an electrical problem, as the breaker for the heater unit continually tripped. The second room had a perpetually running toilet, kitchen utensils missing, and holes in the sheets. They knew I needed the Internet, but did not bother telling me the pass code expired at the end of the month (after one day of my two day stay). And the phone system did not correctly forward my call to the on-call person, so with the front desk closing at nine, I was stuck. The only positive thing I can say is that the manager, hearing my horror story when I checked out, refunded one night's payment.”

  • Has full kitchen facilities and ease of move in.
  • Uncomfortable bed and linens, holes in towels, not very sound proof, not as clean as I would like but better than before.

“This hotel is adequate, but not very clean. The linens must have a very low thread count...not soft, and the bed and pillows are hard. The bedding did not stay in place. The room was not very sound proof. It was easy to move in and out of the room, but a bit for from our business location.”

“There's not much to say. I was hoping to get a hotel closer to the Silver Spring area, but ended up in Germantown which is about 20 miles away. The hotel is cool if you are a trucker and need someplace to stay, or if you are a stranded traveler. The front desk person leaves at 11:30 p.m. to my knowledge there is no one else on the premises if you need help. The bed linen was tattered and the blanket on the bed was about as thick as a paper towel. I hate this hotel and I would never recommend it.”

“They only had one king bed in each room, which isn't sufficient when you have 2 young kids. They had to sleep on the leisure chair with foot rest next to it, to make a small 'bed.' Also a pillow case and bed spread had sticky red stains on them. When I asked for a new pillow case, extra pillows and sheets, the front desk clerk said he's have to get them from a laundry closet later on. We left for dinner and when we came back, he had left us 3 pillows (as I had asked), no pillow cases, and no sheets. I walked back down to the office and it was closed for the evening. So nothing I could do. Worst place I've stayed in a long time.”

  • Bathroom was filthy! Small hairs stuck to the sink. Bathtub was slimy and slippery.

“Staff reassigned my room to someone else at 12 midnight. While I was already asleep in the room. I had to wake-up and deal with the situation. Not good for women business travelers who are traveling solo.”

  • There is nothing I like in this hotel.
  • Hotel stinks, we chose non smoking but the hotel smells like smoke, all things seem dirty and unsafe to use.

“The hotel stuff are not professional looking, the hotel seems to be a place for gangsters, the rooms doesn't smell good, we found a used condom still sitting in one of the trash cans, utensils and coffee makers are not very clean, it looks unsafe to use, no shampoo. We want non smoking, the rooms says non smoking but there is an ash tray and the room smells like smoke, ventilation is very poor. Over all I am not going back to this hotel.”

  • Had room right by parking.
  • Room smelled like campfire. High speed internet didn't work most of the time.

“Staff didn't seem to care when asked about problems. Upon checking out I asked "Good morning, how are you today?" Response was "What do you need?". That about sums up the staff attitude. Beside the fact that the room unexplainably smelled like there had been a recent campfire in it (not cigarettes, burnt wood), and the high speed internet didn't work the vast majority of the time, and that the sheets and mattress pad were too small for the bed, everything else was adequate. Not recommended!”

  • Front desk close after 9:30 p.m. thin walls, heater shuts off in the middle of the night.

“This hotel is newly constructed or remodeled as of December 2005. If you are looking for an inexpensive place to stay, this hotel is a good candidate. Minimal staffing helps to reduce the cost. The front desk closes after 9:30 p.m. however, you can call in to get service. Other complaints are thin walls which enable sound to travel really well across rooms. Also the heater is digitally controlled, but it seems to shut off in the middle of the night. This is very annoying in the middle of winter.”

  • Bad service from staff. Ignored our requests.

“I have stayed here in the past and have really loved this place. Great location, price, love the kitchen. This visit was really bad. Our sink and shower was very slow to drain. The staff said the whole hotel was like that and nothing could be done. The pans were all burnt black and scratched. Our request for a new one was ignored. We were supposed to get our room refreshed once since we stayed 5 nights and it was never done. We called and asked for it to be done the next day and still nothing. We asked for fresh bedding and towels so we could do our own and it took 2 hours and 2 phone calls to get it done.”

  • Not very clean, broken safety bar, laundry was dirty, poor service.
