• The room was spacious, the bed was comfortable, and great business center.
• The bathroom had hair on the floor, big turn off for me.

“A large hotel with nice rooms that's managed quite nicely by all appearances. No free internet, TV was difficult to navigate, hard to find a TV guide, and the online TV services ran very slowly. Was a fine place for a quick overnight, though if I was there for an extended stay the connectivity costs and TV navigation would have prove frustrating.”

“Very impressive hotel, but very very expensive food. Fifteen dollars a person for breakfast. I paid for a room that was going to give me and my wife a free breakfast. The hotel notified me afterwards that the breakfast was not free.”

• The hotel was lovely and very clean.
• There was a $10.00 fee for internet usage.

“The hotel is located at fair oaks mall in Fairfax, VA. It did not have that typical "hotel smell," which is good. The hallways were clean and well-lit. The room was lovely. We have stayed there twice and would be happy to stay there again.”

• Bed was comfortable and it was nice to have Starbucks within the building.
• The front desk person was so rude, he treated me and my sons 2nd class citizens. Very insulted!

“All show, felt as if I was in Las Vegas where you can move or speak to staff without their hand out. It was suited for those need to spend and to surround themselves shell like amenities which offer nothing.”

• Convenience, functionality, amenities (pool, gym & hot tub) most of all price offered.
• No ventilation system in the bathroom causing the mirror to fog when showing.

“This hotel is conveniently located to malls and other businesses. The staff is pleasant and services offered are on par with what is expected. The pool, hot tub, gym area are clean and appreciated. Parking is more than adequate. Food service in the hotel is good, even if typically a bit pricey. The only lacking feature in the room is a ventilation system in the bathroom causing the mirror to fog when showering. The addition of a small refrigerator near the coffee station/counter would be appreciated.”

“This hotel is close to the old town area of Alexandria and has shuttle service to old town and Reagan National airport. The room I eventually got was nice, it was an upgrade since my door would not unlock. Overall a nice hotel just a little off the beaten path.”

“Staff in the restaurant and housekeeping staff needs a lot of work. I had to change rooms because one of the beds had been slept in and wasn't made; this made me question the entire cleanliness of the hotel and made me uncomfortable during my stay.”

• Brief use of large indoor public area below rooms distracting but very short.

“Hotel beginning to show its age but is well maintained. Large atrium reminds one of embassy suites. Excellent bedding on concierge floor. Flat panel large screen TV. Turn down with chocolates a treat. Quality stay with well stocked gift/snack shop complete with espresso/lattes open about 18 hrs daily. Would recommend as extremely good value during slow periods. Great treatment by staff. Nice indoor pool and adjacent workout room with multi TVs.”

• Great beds but did not like comforters.
• A three star hotel that charges for internet access at $10 per night, give me a break! Cheap hotels, gives this for free.

• Pleasant decor and expedient check in.
• I do not like paying for internet service when I may simply need to check my email briefly.

“The Fairfax Marriott at fair oaks in Fairfax, VA is an aesthetically pleasing and comfortable hotel. The room was well appointed. I believe that a 3 or higher star hotel should offer internet service for no additional fee, in the room, but other than that the amenities were fine.”

• Adjacent to a large upscale mall.
• Room had no exterior window, only a small window overlooking the atrium. Most rooms have a sliding glass door and a balcony ours did not.

“The bed was uncomfortable for a Marriott no matter what the ads say we think it was time to replace it, but it had not been done. Also there is a $9.95 charge daily for internet service. Come on Marriott, you can do better than that! No free internet access even in the lobby! Only Version cell phones worked in our room AT&T did not.”

“I chose this location based on its accessibility to locations of activities that were planned during the weekend. The hotel not only provided a comfortable place to come back to, but also provided a pool and workout room. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would highly recommend it to others.”

“The Marriott at Fair Oaks was a decent enough hotel, but it lacked many of the amenities one has come to expect from a quality business traveler's hotel. Given its location and style, I cannot see its primary clientele to be anything but business travelers, but the hotel does not seem to cater to this segment very well. There is no shuttle service to local businesses (the Hyatt, the other three star in the area has this service), there is no complementary internet access in the rooms, nor an offer of complementary breakfast for guests in standard rooms (both of which are offered at most, if not all, of the two star hotels in the area). If you're traveling on a no-holds-barred expense account which allows you to charge the amenities that this hotel lacks, then this is the hotel for you. If you are, however, limited in what you can charge to your account, this hotel may not be the best choice in the area.”

• We had an inside corner unit - not enough window for me.

“My husband and I left our 4 children with Grandma and Grandpa to enjoy a romantic night out. Staying at the Marriott after a concert at Wolf Trap was a perfect landing of comfort and luxury. We slept in and thought we hadn't moved from the spot we had fallen asleep in. We awoke to a refreshing shower and delicious breakfast buffet served by friendly and courteous staff. Thank you for finishing off a perfect date night with my husband of 12 years.”

• The other rooms that I didn't stay in looked very nice.
• The carpet in my room was not clean and smelt old.

“The hotel as a whole was very nice. My room would have been excellent but for a lack of freshness which I concluded was due to the old unclean carpet. The TV switch acted up and sometimes took about 10 attempts to turn it off. There was a little condensation on the air conditioning vent in the ceiling that dripped onto the carpet once in a while. I asked for another room but the carpets were not much better so I stayed in the previous room. It was definitely worth the price but being a Marriot, I did not expect the smelly carpets. Regarding the restaurant, I did not use it. It did look nice though.”

“This is a very nice Marriott property. This hotel used to be a Holiday Inn that had seen better days. Marriott practically tore it all down and rebuilt it a couple of years ago. The facilities and rooms there are all very nice and new. The rooms are nice and the beds are comfortable. There is a charge for internet access. There is a small indoor pool/hot tub and nice exercise room. The hotel location is great at Fair Oaks Mall and close to Fairfax area businesses.”

“Stayed here many times - the staff has always be helpful and very courteous and friendly. The rooms are nicely furnished and very clean and comfortable. The location is very good - easy access to I66 and within walking distance to the mall and plenty of restaurants.”
