• The rooms were beautifully decorated.
• No free WiFi.

“The hotel was very nice. The staff was friendly. The only thing that would hinder my staying at this hotel again would be the fact that you have to pay to use WiFi. The gentleman at the front desk told me it was because it was such a large hotel and WiFi costs a lot. But even the cheap of hotels offer free WiFi to their guests. Otherwise great hotel!”

• The doors are weighted to slam.

“The hotel itself if very nice. The room doors are weighted to slam and I was unable to sleep until about 3 am since so many people were going in and out of their rooms. The doors were too loud.”

• The layout of the rooms - enhances quiet for sleep.
• Not enough creamer for the coffee.

“Nice hotel - very well maintained and the staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are set up very nicely with the bed away from the door so that it is a lot more quiet. My only complaint is that the extras for the morning coffee don't include more creamer. And why the powdered stuff?.”

• Nearby Shops and Restaurants. Easy access to Route 66.
• Though friendly, they had a limited staff and limited pool hours.

“The Hotel is in a good location. Easy access to Route 66 and the Metro line Vienna. There is a mall close by as well as other shopping and eateries. We arrived at 6:00 pm on a Sunday. There were three of us (my 13 year old son, my husband and myself). There was one desk clerk who was helping another family. At check-in I asked what time the pool close. Now on Sundays the Mall closes early. This left us pretty much grounded with a thirteen year old who didn't want to go out and eat in a restaurant. We had pizza in the room. We did however have a good view from our windows (we were on the fourteenth floor). They were not busy and this may well be the reason there was a skeleton crew working. At check out there was one desk clerk with 5 airline attendants checking in. All in all, I got a good night sleep and had no problem getting in Washington DC via Vienna Metro station off of Route 66.”

• My husband didn't care for the quality of the strawberries in the fruit compote (on his breakfast waffle).

“This is a lovely hotel with a wonderful staff. The room was bright, spacious, and comfortable. It's located close to a shopping area - very handy if you forgot to pack socks or need contact lens solution! We were in the area to attend our son's college orientation, and they had printed directions on how to get to the campus. We didn't get an opportunity to use the exercise facilities; I hope to do so in the near future.”

• They gave us a great room the second night.
• They gave us a terrible room the first night.

“The first night we were put in a terrible room. Stunk of smoke, next to a creaky door that was opened and slammed every time. Someone came down stairs. The second night they moved us to a great room on a high floor and it was like a different hotel. They also gave us a voucher for their wonderful buffet breakfast. So they helped turn things around.”

• Hotel staff very accommodating.
• Walls were thin and you could hear everything going on in the halls & adjoining rooms.

“The hotel was very nice over all. It is with in walking distance to shopping and restaurants (and Starbucks). The pool was great and very clean. The room was large, there is a separate sitting area. Very roomy! The king sized bed was comfortable with nice linens. The staff was friendly and very helpful. When we requested to be moved to a different room due to a very noisy neighbor they had us in another room with in 15 minutes. We really enjoyed our stay and would likely consider staying at this hotel in the future!”

• There was a $10.95 per diem charge for High speed Internet I thought it was supposed to come with the room.

“My stay at The Hyatt Fair Lakes was pleasurable but The pool was not open at a convenient time for me, and I was grossly overcharged for internet access (33.00 for 3 days).”

• Room layout good for one sleeping and one working without disturbing each other.
• $19.95 per day for internet access in room; laundry room vented out beside entrance walkup ramp.

“Was a nice, comfortable, clean, friendly and convenient for us? One thing that put me off was the laundry room smells and humidity as we walked up the ramp to the front entrance (vents about 20 feet away from ramp).”

“Very good hotel but had experienced a major inconvenience. Hotel oversold the rooms and they sent us to another branch of Hyatt 6 miles away. It would not be a problem if I knew the town very well, or if it was not around midnight to get to the new hotel! If you are just visiting the town for the first time, then it is very uncomfortable feeling at 11 p.m. to look for the hotel they send you to.”

• Beautiful room layout and design.
• Inconvenient internet access. Couldn't access wireless from my room, had to pay at business center to use internet, which was disappointing.

“The hotel is beautiful, the rooms are lovely and very comfortable. All the conveniences you would expect are provided. However, I stayed at a similar hotel in Fair Oaks and I had easier internet access. I desperately needed internet, tried to use my laptop, and for whatever reason (it was not my laptop) it wouldn't connect. I had to go to the 24 hour business center, which required payment to use the internet, whether or not you used their PC or brought their laptop. This, in my opinion, was a bit ridiculous for such a hotel. I've traveled extensively and the business center is usually considered an amenity, not a service to be paid for. Other than that complaint, it was an excellent stay in a very nice hotel.”

• I liked the lay out of the second room they gave us.
• I didn't like the way I was treated, along with having to wait 2 1/2hrs for my room to be ready, cleanliness wasn't good, staff wasn't good.

“The hotel itself from the looks was great. The room wasn't ready on time, plus they then gave us the wrong room, had to take them forever to get back to a request we made. They said they had breakfast in the morning that was free the night before and they did not. Didn't tell us about the things that came with the room either.”

• The bed was absolutely marvelous! It was the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in.
• The restaurant stopped serving breakfast a bit too early. Though it was Mother's Day, so prep for brunch was necessary.

“Though the exterior is nondescript office tower, the interior spaces are anything but. A sweeping lobby with a sunken restaurant and lounge space. The room was a cozy small suite with a mini living room separated from the bedroom area by a half wall. The beds were absolutely marvelous; incredibly comfortable! Decoration was attractive and restrained. Great selection of high quality toiletries. The only negative part of the experience was the price of the bottled water available in the room, $5 per bottle.”

• The bed and bedding were extremely comfortable, fresh, clean, and relaxing.
• Wished I could have stayed longer!

“This was a beautifully furnished and clean hotel that is located close enough to IAD, downtown DC, and NOVA towns to be extremely convenient. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful with my late check-in and even happily upgraded my room to a king when requested. I would stay again as well as recommend it to friends and family.”

• Internet fees, no place to print etc.

“The only thing I would complain about was the fact that the internet was 10.00, and then you had to pay additional fees to print documents. The USB cables that they have are outdated, and there were a few ants on my bathroom floor, but I was on the first floor, thinking that is why they were present. I would stay again, because it was affordable, and was close to restaurants etc.”

• Smart person at the front desk.

“My older daughter joined us late, after 11 p.m. She asked the front desk where the elevators were as they were not visible from the lobby. The front desk clerk asked her twice if she really did not know where the elevators were. He was not concerned about security since he eventually told her and never asked for ID.”

• No internet, some lights did not work, didn't meet my needs as expected.

“Prior to arriving to the hotel, I called to ensure my reservations of a double room. However, upon my arrival the customer service representation informed me that they did not have any more rooms available. Some of the lights did not work in the room. The appliances are not upgraded in the hotel. It was also hard to locate the hotel.”

• The set up of the room and king sized bed were very comfortable.
• The bathroom was dimly light and a bit warn out.

“It is in a very nice area of the city, and was easy to get to from the airport. The hotel was clean and the staff was very friendly. We enjoyed Thursday evening entertainment on the grounds when we arrived and had a pleasant stay. The room arrangement and bedding were very comfortable.”

• The fact that the basketball court was in the parking lot.

• The rooms are spacious. Hyatt spared no expense on bedding.
• The housekeeping was not quite up to par.

“Hyatt Fair lakes is a great value. Easy access to major roads and commerce. All the amenities. Great staff. Spacious and comfortable rooms. The housekeeping in my room missed a couple things but it wasn't enough to merit any complaint. I will stay again.”

• The set up of the room. Sitting area and desk worked out great.
• Thin walls. You could hear all room conversations while in the hall.

“When in D.C. we most likely will stay at this hotel again. Close drive to the Metro Station and to get Downtown. (Shuttle was not running the day we stayed) Walls were very thin but we just paid close attention to what we said.”
