“This was a good hotel for access to DC and Metro stops. It was very clean, newer-feeling and very comfortable. My only complaint would be that the double beds are very small and there isn't a sofa bed in any type of room. It made accommodations slightly awkward for our group of 3 and someone had to sleep on the floor. Two people couldn't sleep in one of those double beds. Other than that, great stay!” Jul 2, 2008 by
Maggie from Sterling, VA
“We were assigned a smoking room and everyone in my group has severe asthma. The hotel staff argued with me about changing to a non-smoking room. There were none available of the same type, but offered me an upgraded room. I told them this was unacceptable and after several minutes of arguing they finally moved some rooms around and got us a non-smoking room. The check in experience was very poor.” Jun 16, 2008 by
Ken from Redding, CA
“We selected this hotel for our departure from Dulles. We asked the staff for assistance in reconfirming our flights (i.e. just to give us the United phone number as there was no phone book in our room). They were not only unhelpful but rude. After we fell asleep, they called to find out whether we had managed to reconfirm. The shuttle was unsatisfactory. Other shuttles passed us 2 or 3 times while we waited. The beds were substandard. The air conditioner was noisy and kept us awake. The restaurant was excellent and in sharp contrast to all other aspects of our visit. With that exception, the hotel could hardly have done more to make our departure an uncomfortable experience. It will be our last stay with this chain.” Jun 8, 2008 by
Tracy from Decatur, GA
“Overall, we liked the hotel and the features offered for the star rating. The hotel staff was friendly and receptive and the service was very good. The hotel restaurant was not smoke free which was a drawback. Also, one of the public smoking areas was located right outside the back entrance to the hotel which was not very appealing.” Jun 7, 2008 by
Brian from Kemptville, ON CA
“Very clean with good security. The staff were great and it was central to allot of services. The airport shuttle service was very good.” May 22, 2008 by
Tammy from Clearfield, PA
“Convenient, clean, friendly.” May 21, 2008 by
Kristi from Portland, OR
“This hotel was really not a three-star upscale hotel in my opinion. It may pass for a three-star hotel, but not upscale. I also felt that the service was subpar. I bought a bottle of wine and needed a corkscrew. The front desk sent me to the bar to get it opened. They should have sent one up to me. In terms of the room's appearance, the room looked as though it had been half-updated. It seemed to have a mixture of new and outdated colors and furnishings. (I.e. new granite counters in bath, old fashioned teal colored chair in room. Carpet outdated, wall coverings in room new, tile in bath outdated color scheme.).” May 14, 2008 by
Tim from Saylorsburg, PA
“Clean and well maintained. All the amenities. Quiet even though near the airport and busy thorough fares. Altogether a very pleasant experience.” May 14, 2008 by
Jon from Novato, CA
“Great convenience to Dulles airport (with free shuttle). Good restaurant and friendly staff. The rooms are a little dated (fixtures, hardware) but I'd stay again without question. Free wireless Internet is a big bonus.” May 11, 2008 by
Syd from White Hall, MD
“Great bed and linens, acceptable room, long hike to elevator, restaurants so-so in area.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Joanne from Avalon, CA
“Excellent choice for the business traveler. Houlihans restaurant right on the property makes relaxing easy.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Barbara from Waterloo, IA
“Well-situated for travelers. The room was spacious and well-appointed. Bedding was attractive and comfortable. For a hotel, it was extremely quiet even with teens on the floor during the weekend.” Apr 28, 2008 by
Ron from Greensboro, NC
“Very pleased with this hotel and its staff.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Alex from Coral Springs, FL
“Newly remodeled rooms with great beds and pillows. Bathrooms with new floor to ceiling tiles and organic and natural toiletries. Several great restaurants within walking distance.10 minutes from Dulles International Airport (IAD). Helpful and friendly staff.” Apr 15, 2008 by
Dallas from Youngsville, NC
“Very nice and clean. Also quiet after hours. Did not like coffee pot in bath room.” Apr 11, 2008 by
Tony from Port Clinton, OH
“Likes: Comfortable beds, clean rooms, large bathroom, lifeguard on duty, nice size pool, pool & gym area clean, location to DC. Dislikes: Micro & coffee pot in bathroom, had hard time understanding staff (their English was not that good), continental breakfast only for certain floors, would have upgraded if we knew this information.” Apr 10, 2008 by
Erin from Louisville, KY
“I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone. I traveled with my parents, my sister, and my daughter. Not only were the beds big (one king, two queens) the beds were soft, the bathroom was perfect. The showerhead was large and the water pressure was spot on. The samples of shampoo and conditioner made my hair shine more than ever. I'm contacting the hotel to see if I can buy it. The room service took my call after closing and got my daughter milk after hours. The housekeeping staff cleaned the room better than any room I have stayed in. Bravo to Crown Plaza.” Apr 9, 2008 by
Folashade from Philadelphia, PA
“Nice hotel, comfortable rooms, friendly staff, prime location, proximity to restaurants, shopping and airport. Great value!” Apr 5, 2008 by
Tom from Lake City, PA
“I arrived at 08:00am, and observed many people checking out. I was sternly advised by reception, that their policy was of no check in before 15:00pm. At approximately 10:30am, she then grudgingly agreed to letting me check in "this once" because I told her I had been up all night. She advised me, next time you will be charged an extra day. Late check out is strongly discouraged. Another guest experienced the same treatment. Good hotel except surly staff. Last time for me staying here!” Mar 26, 2008 by
Carlos from Homestead, FL
“Great location, very comfortable, lots of places to eat around the hotel. The staff can be a little friendlier.” Mar 25, 2008 by
Tom from Lake City, PA
“Only complaint was the 2 hour wait in the lobby after working all night with no sleep.” Mar 23, 2008 by
Cherie from Carlsbad, CA
“Very pleasant experience, especially after prior night at Holiday Inn at BWI. Nearby restaurants a plus. Front desk people very nice. Room newly redone. Did I mention free Wi-Fi.?” Mar 22, 2008 by
Maria from Charlottesville, VA
“Overall, a great experience relative to the price.” Mar 22, 2008 by
Joan from Sunbury, OH
“The hotel was very comfortable and the staff was friendly and helpful. It was convenient for our needs.” Mar 20, 2008 by
Bonnie from Bloomsburg, PA
“This is a clean and comfortable hotel. The room we had was spotless. We were exhausted upon our arrival at the hotel at 2:30 am. The desk clerk was fairly cheerful and pleasant. Our room was a welcome despite from our late (delayed) travels and it was so amazingly comforting to have such a comfortable, cozy, plus bed and bedding. Everything was spotless in the room. A restaurant adjoins the hotel (sorry, can't remember the chain) and the staff were quite friendly. The area that the hotel is in appears safe. They allowed us a very generous 2pm late check-out due to our airline delayed early a.m. arrival and this was greatly appreciated.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Fifi from Pittsburgh, PA
“The staff was pleasant and helpful. Hotel was clean and check out was quick.” Mar 19, 2008 by
Randy from Kansas City, MO
“This was a poor experience! Was placed in a room that's thermostat did not work, in fact an engineer showed me how they had rigged up a temperature thermostat hooked directly up the wall unit, and yes, loose wires hanging from the thermostat, that layed in the floor. I told him that was unacceptable; they put me in another room where for two straight mornings I never had a good shower (this was the Crowne Plaza Hotel!). Finally the last night they put me in another room saying I would get a good shower there, but my question is why didn't I get a room with a regulated shower when I first arrived, then, why wouldn't every room have a regulated shower?” Mar 19, 2008 by
Larrie from Midlothian, VA
“Greatly improved over last stay. Remodeling almost complete and much less noise.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Scott from Mountville, PA
“This hotel was great. After a four hour drive our family was ready for a good night sleep. The beds were very comfy and the rooms were very clean. We had a problem with the air condition working the first room we were given happen to be so hot we could barely breath. They moved us to another room which was much better. Over all we had a wonderful stay here and would stay there again. On a different note the restaurant attached to the hotel the food was great but the service was horrible. My daughter is an all star cheer leader we were staying there because she had a competition on Saturday after a very long day a few friends of ours (other cheerleaders) came back to the restaurant to eat dinner with us. After standing at the counter waiting to be seated for 20 minutes (no one was in there) we finally got seated. Then it all went down hill from there. lets just say our kids all went to taco bell got food brought it back to the hotel restaurant ate it and we still had no food and no drinks. It was bad. but the hotel is wonderful. So I would recommend the hotel to anyone who is traveling.” Mar 12, 2008 by
Denise from Manassas, VA
“Good location - even though at busy intersection didn't hear anything - bed slept great - close to good shopping, private lots of airline personnel use hotel.” Mar 10, 2008 by
Garland from Fredericksburg, VA
“Nice, pleasant, and quiet.” Mar 6, 2008 by
Gary from Leesbvurg, VA
“It was a good place for the money.” Mar 5, 2008 by
Dorothy from Newburyport, MA
“A smoke and mirrors hotel. Looked good until you really looked. No-one at check in spoke good English. Totally unhelpful around wireless connection. Totally unhelpful period. Room looked good until you really looked, dirt in bathroom, toilet seat, mirror, toilet roll holder, coffee maker etc.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Carol from Cordova, TN
“Convenient to Airport, shopping, & dining. The only thing the hotel lacked was a microwave which can be helpful if one has dietary issues.” Feb 28, 2008 by
Pamela from Laurel, MD
“Crowne Plaza is the first hotel I have seen that focuses on the real reason the guest comes to a hotel--sleep. When I entered the room I noticed a mesh bag on the bed. It contained lavender linen spray, ear plugs, an eye mask, and a sleep CD. I immediately fell in love with the hotel. They were giving me the tools I needed to ensure that I would have an excellent night's sleep. Of course, these tools would not be as effective with a less than comfortable bed, and Crowne Plaza came through in that area as well. The bed was perfect and there was an abundance of overstuffed pillows as well as a thick, comfy, down blanket. I recently stayed in a five star hotel and was not as impressed by it as I was by Crowne Plaza. It is now my new favorite hotel chain.” Feb 25, 2008 by
Katie from Sykesville, MD
“For the price, this was a great stay. The room was large, the bed was comfortable, everything was up to date and clean. I was in the "tower" end of the hotel, which appeared to have slightly larger rooms than the main end. The only problem I had was that the heater was loud, but once I figured out where the thermostat was I adjusted it so it didn't turn on for the rest of the night-still plenty warm. The location is great, and though I didn't need them, there was a shuttle to Dulles and a restaurant on site.” Feb 12, 2008 by
Erwin from Leesburg, VA
“This is a beautifully decorated hotel and the room was clean and beautiful. The bed was very comfortable. The room, itself, was small and the one "easy chair" was not at all comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The restaurant in the hotel was moderately priced with good food but the service was very, very slow.” Feb 11, 2008 by
Ramakrishna from Glen Allen, VA
“Very Bad. Hotel Staff is rude. And they discriminate customers.” Feb 8, 2008 by
Roger from Vail, CO
“From pick-up at airport to check-in, to Restaurant, to Pool, GYM, Business Center. Everything is there and at a reasonable price. I am staying at many Hotels throughout the year. I liked everything from check-in to check-out, very easy and no drama.” Feb 4, 2008 by
Heather D. from Radford, VA
“This hotel was somewhat easy to find. The room was very nice. The bathroom was even nicer. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Jaimie from Vienna, VA
“The crown plaza is very nice since the renovations. The staff was very friendly and the location very convenient. There is a lot to do in the immediate area for people inclined to get out a little. Theaters and shops across the street and Wash D.C. 20 minutes away.” Jan 25, 2008 by
Patricia from Elkins, WV
“The restaurant has added green tea as an alternative to the normal Lipton. The service is excellent.” Jan 24, 2008 by
John from Philadelphia, PA
“Clean, comfortable bed and convenient location.” Jan 18, 2008 by
Barbara from Charlotte Court House, VA
“After such a long day at work, I was pampered into one of the most restful sleeps I have ever experienced! The bed, the atmosphere, the location, all was perfect!” Jan 17, 2008 by
Jason from Fayetteville, GA
“This hotel would be better if there was something nearby to do other than sit in the room and pay for movies and room service. Since it is a major name hotel (Hyatt) at an international airport, I found myself concerned with what other guests visiting the USA would think of America by staying here. It felt like a holding cell in the middle of no where. There was nothing at all but office buildings. I purchased a coke from the machine and it was hot. I purchased a 6 oz beer (Budweiser) for about $9.00. I understand they want to display the image of wealth but lets at least be realistic. You would have to pay me to stay there again. I have stayed with Hyatt before and this was by far my worst experience. It was like being all dressed up with no where to go and nothing to do. It served it's purpose as a place to stay. I would have been just as happy at a lower star hotel with a local shopping center or restaurant or bar nearby. I am on vacation and I am not there to see the room. The lotion and soaps smelled bad. It said it was ginger scented. I grow ginger at home and it does not smell that terrible. It was a nice restaurant. I thought for $35.00 I would at least get enough to eat. I barely had enough to eat. I am sorry but $200.00 for breakfast for five people is a bit expensive. I don't care if it is caviar, it is just fish eggs. I would have rather eaten more for less at an IHOP or somewhere. The driver for the shuttle didn't ask what airline I was going to. I told him and he responded by saying, "Look you're at the airport, what more do you want me to do? Go check in for you?" I refused to leave the shuttle until he dropped me at the curb for my airline. It was only three fourths a mile away from where he wanted to drop me off. I did not feel obliged to tip him for that attitude. I really like Hyatt in a more tropical destination. This Hyatt in Washington, DC was exactly what I paid for.” Jan 11, 2008 by

“Crown Plaza in Herndon specializes in a good nights sleep as well as multi amenities and good security. Sleep cd's, cosmetic mirrors, elegant decor, indoor pool, whirlpool and business center with a large screen TV in lobby. Houligan's Restaurant and Enterprise rental car are attached on either side. Excellent service for the most part, normal travel items are available free of charge and delivered to door. Central air thermostat controls the temperature and is displayed in both Fahrenheit and Celsius. They have extremely comfortable beds with a sleep disk to ease you into sleep. Or the DVD/radio also has 'natural sounds'. Great baths/shower. Room service from hotel on site (not tried). Other places available and theaters, shopping. On Dulles corridor. TV can be seen anywhere in the room by swivel, internet available by wireless, dial up and ethernet. Plugs in all lamps, ironing board and other amenities for this level. Coffee in room and also available 24 hours in the lobby. Excellent security and notable parking garage. Located on the Dulles toll road but no plane sounds, shuttle to Dulles (IAD) airport or blue van, Washington flyer from IAD to Regan national (DCA) if you need it to the subway. Although I was disappointed to find only dry creamer even in the lobby, it pushed me into the restaurant, which is truly good and probably the best in the area. A breakfast buffet is about 10 USD, but you might wait for the other dishes, from steak to calamari, couscous to rosemary ginger chicken, a magnificent apple pie desert or other smaller ones for kids, and the coffee is better. You can always go to the restaurant without staying at the hotel, but if you stay do try it! This chef is great I don't think you can go wrong.” Jan 8, 2008 by
Jason from Wilton Manors, FL
“I was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness of the room the comfort of the bed, and the friendliness of the staff. I am a flight attendant for a major airline and fly all over the world. I would definitely recommend the Crowne Plaza to business traveler on my flights.” Jan 7, 2008 by
Dale from New Bern, NC
“Great location with a worn but comfortable room. Check-in was curt, short and pointed. A smile goes a long way.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Melinda from Dublin, VA
“Overall, I would stay there again, but would request a room change if the air draft is a problem.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Sarah from Centreville, VA
“Reserved and confirmed a king size bedroom over the phone. When arrived, room was equipped with two twin beds. I called front desk immediately and they said there was nothing they can do. Asked to speak to manager and he also said he could not do anything about it. Beds were super tiny and very uncomfortable. Staff was rude and unprofessional. Would never go back or recommend.” Hotel Representatives:
