- I really liked the room furniture and layout and loved the bathroom sink stand.
- My room was a little musky smelling of an old air system.
“The staff is out stands out in my mind. The gentleman who drive the shuttle van was very friendly and on-time. The only two down sides are that the lobby area saw cigarette-smoky and the hotel is next to a police station and I was awoken during the night from sirens. The hotel did have ear-plugs in a cute baggie on the bed. I was surprised that the coffee product that is supplied in the room was real good. I had stayed at a 4-star hotel in the previous month and their coffee product wasn't good.”

- I enjoyed the downtown location so that I could walk to local restaurants/places of interest.
- I did not like the pool. It would have been better to have an outdoor pool or have windows that opened in the summer.
“Everyone at the hotel was very friendly and helpful. The downtown location was close to the Civil War Battleground National Park and a private Civil War Museum. It was also close to Shokko Bottom/Slip which had bookstores, restaurants and other shops. We were able to walk to all of these attractions. A free shuttle was available for use within 2 miles of the hotel. I did not care for the pool because it was enclosed and very hot/steamy. My kids on the other hand had a great time swimming. A few opened windows would have helped. Our room overlooked the James River and we saw a beautiful sunset one night. The beds were comfortable. The room was clean. We did not get room service. A great stay for us.”

- It was not most lethargic service one can ever receive. The only good thing I like about the restaurant is that I can see the city outside.
- Customer service lies a lot of air conditioner turned off during the check in.
“I will never recommend this hotel to anybody due to its staff who lied during check in. Not having air conditioned on at 14th floor due to problems, was not reported during check in. And upon asking staff continuously lied about how long the air conditioner was off and not working. My entire trip was ruined because of such lies and bad customer service from the hotel.”

- The free eye cover, and the bed and pillows.
- Staff not friendly or helpful one bellman wouldn't get ice for my insulin, and I had cast on my foot.
“I would only go back with my kids. Unless I am with a group of kids. Very helpful car parkers and van drivers. Much more friendlier then desk staff and other hotel workers.”

- All the staff at the hotel was very pleasant and courteous.
- The restaurant menu needs to be expanded to include items for vegetarian children, such as plain rice, noodles and vegetables.
“The only disappointment that our family had with the hotel was that my grandchildren were with me for 2 days and the pool and hot tub we cool instead of hot, according to the staff a part was on order to fix the hot tub. We booked the hotel for the luxury and the indoor pool facilities, which was somewhat disappointing.”

- They upgraded me to the executive floor, since my room was not ready yet, even though it was before check in time.
- $10 for parking.

- Close to where I needed to be with not overly expensive parking.
- Elevators were very slow, place is beginning to show age and mini-fridge in room would have been nice.

It is beginning to show its age, but they seem to be keeping up with it, except for the fitness room where the equipment was old and in need of repair and/or replacement. A downtown hotel with nice clean rooms and affordable ($10) daily self parking means there is a chance I would stay there again.”

- At our request, they put us in a quiet room on New Year's Eve.
- The pool and hot tub were very cold!
“Right off the freeway, this hotel is conveniently located. Pros: the staff was friendly; room was nice and cleans with a great view. Cons: There is not much common space, and the pool/hot tub was very cold! The main restaurant was closed so we ended up at the Smokey bar restaurant downstairs where the service and food quality were lacking.”

- It cost me over $40 for a continental breakfast.
“This is the second time Ive stayed at this hotel, I would recommend it. But the parking cost $10 in addition to the room price. I believe that if you stay at their hotel you should not have to pay to park in their parking garage. Also the restaurant was very pricey $40 for 2 adult and 2 small children to eat a continental breakfast is crazy. We made the mistake of being in a hurry and not looking at the menu before eating. Next time I have to stay in Richmond I will probably stay at a different hotel just to see if the others are better.”

- Bathroom mold, toilet that wouldn't flush, poor heating system, limited TV options.
“Good location, convenient to Downtown food and shops, safe (next to police station). Comfortable bed and nice simple linens (not the usual crappy polyester stuff). Our room was very quiet, also had a nice view from large windows. But there was lots of mold on the showers tiles, the toilet wouldn't flush properly, and the heating system blew alternately hot air or cold, never warm. Also the TV options were very limited, no movie channels, just basic cable. They seem to have spent some money to upgrade certain things, like the fixtures and furniture, but the wallpaper was dated and peeling off the walls.”

“This hotel stay was tainted by the discourteous service of the gentleman. I had the displeasure of speaking with him on the phone, four days prior to my stay at the Crowne Plaza. I called ahead to confirm two beds for my stay, at which point he informed me that they "could not do that" because they did not "reserve special accommodations requests." he further stated "if something was left" when I arrived, then I could be accommodated. He made sure to say this in a condescending fashion. Upon arrival, the quite polite woman checking us in offered two beds before I could even ask when I mentioned the representative's curt comment she seemed confused and stated that "right now we aren't busy at all; there are lots and lots of rooms open." although I appreciated her polite and efficient manner, my overall experience was less than festive due to being treated less than second class.”

- Food in the restaurant and room service was bland and unimaginative.
“Facilities of the Crowne plaza Richmond are clean and attractive, and the beds are among the most comfortable I have encountered in hotels. The staffs were competent and seemed eager to be helpful. For travelers driving, the parking is accessible and reasonably priced. An automobile may be necessary because there are no restaurants in easy walking distance, and the food in the hotel's restaurant, while plentiful, is bland and unimaginative. I did not avail myself of the hotel's shuttle to an area with restaurants.”

“Excellent downtown hotel with all the amenities you would expect from a high caliber hotel chain plus some extras. Self-service business center provided easy-online access. Pool, Jacuzzi and workout center were clean, up to date and easily accessible. Location also provides wonderful view of James river. This property is an excellent choice for the business traveler. If you conduct business in Richmond, start from this hotel.”

“The Crowne Plaza has very clean rooms with comfortable beds, complete with four pillows. There is a quaint bar room with a friendly bartender. Be sure to try their steak sandwich. On the downside, they charge $10 per day to park. The front desk clerks have poor attitudes. Upon checking out, the clerk appeared unconvinced to print out a copy of my bill.”

- Rooms were nice and spacious. Indoor pool and hot-tub.
- I asked for non-smoking rooms but was given rooms that smelt like cigarette smoke.

- Convenient to my business travel plans.
- Bathroom needed a little bit of an upgrade (mold on tile).
“Conveniently located in downtown Richmond, within walking distance of the James River and many dining establishments, the Crown Plaza is an upscale hotel that provides a variety of services for the business traveler, including business center and very well appointed fitness center. Also conveniently located near interstate access.”

- Price, convenient parking, free internet.
- Older, shop worn appearance, questionable neighborhood.
“It's a competent business hotel; the hotel is old and looks tired but the room was clean and bed comfortable. Shock hoe slip is about 6 blocks away but Iżm not sure it's safe to walk there in the evenings. The price was pretty good for a "3" star hotel but if I had to pay full price, Iżd stay at a Marriott or omni.”

- Pool/hot tub, lotion and shampoo/conditioner were the best!
- Peoples trays of food left in hallway (smelled bad).
“It was excellent. We were not given a choice of queen bed or view of the river, both of which we would have preferred. But overall, everything was great.”

“Well kept, nice, in the heart of Downtown Richmond. Only drawback was you could not order movies, I like to catch up on new movies when I am away on business.”
