• The staff was friendly, the restaurant gave us free hot cocoa packets, and the fireplace was nice.
• The double beds are not very big - queen would have been better.

“Nice hotel conveniently across the street from the convention center. The shuttle was excellent - even took us to find food that the driver recommended, then picked us up afterward.”

• You can hear construction going on early in the morning. Someone pounding 7:30 am.

• The location was perfect for us, and the hotel was very nice.
• No food available at the hotel after 11 pm, and the only places within walking distance to eat at that time were smoky bars.

• The only place to park was a site not associated with the hotel and it was 16 dollars after just 3 hours. There was valet which was equally expensive.

• Clean, friendly, professional and comfortable.
• Restaurants were closed at dinner on Saturday night and bathrooms could be updated.

“I would stay at this hotel again clean, professional and friendly staff. Beds were comfortable, rooms were impeccable. However, hallway noise was heard loud and clear through the doors.”

“The overall experience at this hotel is excellent. They have re-done their rooms and the newly finished one are beautiful. The staff is very, very friendly and helpful. The lobby and common areas are clean and decorated nicely. The room service was a little overpriced and the food was cold. The parking is also a little inconvenient (and we were miss informed about the pricing). Regardless of the few flaws I would recommend this hotel to anyone. Great place to stay if in Richmond, VA”

• Newly renovated. The front desk staff was very nice.
• The concierge suggested that the city was not safe and wanted to make me use the hotel shuttle to travel a few blocks.

“Great location, recently renovated rooms. The staff is helpful and friendly. Nice lobby and on-site restaurant. He also suggested that parking in the area was not a good idea.”

• The decor was very modern.
• Bathroom was a little on the small side.

“I enjoyed the convenient parking lot connected to the hotel. The modern decor was delightful with a great color scheme. I wanted to take the pictures and mirrors in the room with me! But the bathroom was a bit on the small side. Overall a good time.”

“The valet parking may seem expensive ($18 day) but it is well worth it. The adjacent hourly garage makes you pay everytime you bring your car in and out, and it adds up fast.”

“I went to my room and my room key did not work, had to go back down to the lobby and they blew me off. Then my toilet was not working in the room and at 9 am I was woken up by noise in the hotel. Went to hotel bar and the staff was very rude to me and my friends. Came back to the room and my key did not work again. I was very upset with this hotel.
”

• I loved the bed linens, luxury, clean, crisp and the bed was very comfortable.
• It was in a terrible location. I was hoping to walk to the college campus we were visiting, but it was in far too bad of an area.

“The hotel and its facilities were lovely, with a courteous and helpful staff, although the surrounding area was awful. Construction, debris, trash, loitering in every direction. The view from the room was terrible.”

• It was a nice hotel overall. The staff was very helpful.
• The value was not great for the price. Also, the surrounding neighborhood is very sketchy.
  

“Overall it was not a bad experience. The valet parking is outrageous. When I stayed at the hotel a few years ago, valet parking was free for guests. It is now $18. The surrounding neighborhood is very questionable and very dirty. There are a few parking lots within walking distance from the hotel but they force you to walk through the questionable neighborhoods; unless you pay for a taxi. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but for the price, it was not worth it.
”

• Staff was excellent.
• They were undergoing a major construction project and I had to call several times to get them to stop drilling above our heads.

“The hotel is in the middle of a major revamp of its rooms. While I appreciate this as consumer and business woman. I have to say it was a nightmare trying to get any rest here. It was constant noise and drilling despite the clerk at the desk saying that the construction should only be audible from 9 am to 5pm. Horrible.”

• The hotel is being re-done, and the work started at 0900 and was very loud.

“The hotel is fine. It has a good location if you want to walk around downtown Richmond and see lots of sites. The hotel seems to be in the middle of some extensive rehab, which started at 0900; it was very loud. Don't plan on sleeping past 0900 or even sitting comfortably in your room past that hour.”

“I was not at all impressed with this hotel. While it was downtown and convenient to the courthouse, it was not in a very nice neighborhood. There were very few options for dinner. There was no free parking available. After parking in the parking garage I checked into the hotel and then left to go get dinner. I had to pay $8.00 to get out of the parking garage and then an additional $14.00 the next morning. As a business traveler, I was extremely disappointed that internet service was $9.95 per day. I will not stay in this hotel again. Not business travel friendly!”

• I didn't like the fact that I had to pay to park as a guest of the hotel!

“The hotel over all was great. I liked the area, the people and the way the Hotel looked. My biggest issue was the parking. Maybe it's me, but I feel if I'm a guest staying at your place of business. I'm already spending money sleeping, dining and drinking at the bar. Offer me free parking. They had parking, but it was either $14.00 a day and if you leave and come back, you had to pay the $14.00 again or pay $18.00 a day for valet parking.”

• The desk clerk made no effort to determine whether a king sized bed was available. She simply told me that double beds were guaranteed.

• Ice machine and drink vending matching not working on my floor (12) or 11th, had to go to 10th floor.

“Hotel was clean and easy to find. Was within a reasonable walking distance of several downtown attractions. Parking was a little confusing at check in as the was little place to park but was fine the later 2 times I returned to the hotel. Checking in was a little slower than most 3-star hotels as the were several checking in for a convention at the same time as I and the wait was a little longer than expected. The convention arriving is likely what parking difficulty when I checked in. The only big negative was when I wanted to get a cold drink from the vending machine both the ice and drink machines on my floor would not work. Went to the next lower floor, ice machine also not working and the drink machine was empty (this was in the afternoon). Finally two floors down I found a both machines working. Room was very nice and clean.”

• Parking cost me $18.00 per day for valet service and personal parking was $14.00 every time I left the hotel.

“The hotel staffing was excellent for their friendliness. We also enjoyed its diversity in staffing. The room accommodation was comfortable and clean. The I liked the amenities of their fitness area and internet access. We felt the hotel was geared toward business customers and lacks a little variety toward vacation/leisure customers visiting the Richmond area. All in all, the hotel was very good, but not best we've seen.”

• I liked the Lounge /Bar in the Lobby.
• I didnt like the small bath with out an extra rack for towels.

“I really like this hotel. It is convenient to everything in town for sightseeing. The staff is very nice and helpful as well. They have a great breakfast buffet and the chef for making your omelets is very friendly. Having a bar/ linger is nice to have when coming back form where ever you have been to just relax before retiring for the night. We will definitely say there again.”

“Very convenient to capital square. Everyone working there was very nice and helpful. The room was very comfortable. Adequate workout facilities. No complaints about the hotel itself. Restaurant meal and service were good, although I was served wine in a filthy glass with something caked on the outside rim (this was corrected quickly when I pointed it out).”

• The restaurant and service at this hotel is awesome.
• Room service and organization relating to that job was less than desirable.

“All in all the hotel was as good if not better than the times I have stayed there in the past. I can certainly say the restaurant was about the best of any hotel I have stayed in in the past year. On the other side of the coin I would knock before I enter a room for the first time, there is likely to be a bit of disorganization when it comes to checking in.”

“This Marriott in Downtown Richmond was in a very good location, had exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, and was very nicely appointed in the public areas. The room was typically good as I expect Marriotts to be. We were very pleased with the accommodations at the price I paid.”
