“My stay here was exceptional. The only negatives were minor: 1) although the hotel was right across from the convention center, it was in a dicey area of Downtown, and 2) I noticed a brown stain on the comforter. My food and drinks at the bar were outstanding and so were the hotel staff.”

- My experience on Saturday night was terrible.
“On Saturday, the hotel was hosting a large group of college students who were celebrating a sorority/fraternity party at the nearby convention center. The students apparently had a formal attired event that evening, which created a loud bustling on our floor when they left around 10:00pm, but turned out to be the least of our concerns. My wife and I went to sleep at 10:30pm that evening in a quiet, peaceful environment. At 3:00am, my wife and I were awakened in our room by loud shouts, laughing and doors slamming. We tried to go back to sleep, each of us understanding that this was a college party and remembering with understanding our own college experiences. However, the noise only increased, as more people arrived on the floor. At one point a loud disagreement developed, with profanity-laced shouting and slamming doors. Moments of silence were then broken by a new group traveling noisily up and down the hallways. We attempted to call the front desk for assistance, but our calls were completely ignored. We allowed the line to ring for several moments, but nobody answered. We gave up trying to contact the desk and attempted to go back to sleep. At 4:08 am, we were jolted awake by a loud, repeated pounding on our door. I looked through the peephole and saw three intoxicated women, who appeared to me to be part of the college group. I told them that they had the wrong room and asked them to leave. They laughed and continued to gather outside our room in the hallway, soon inviting other friends to join. By 5:00am, we gave up trying to sleep and instead began packing and preparing to check out. The noise level in the hallway had not yet diminished. One last attempt to contact the front desk went unheeded. We gathered our belongings and checked out at 6:15am.”

- For all the short comings that experienced, Food order wrong, no maid service for 3 days they were very concerned.

- I liked everything about this hotel.
- I couldn't find anything that was negative about this hotel.
“The staff was really friendly they always opened the door for you and anything you needed it didn't take them long to take care of it if it was in their control. The rooms were wonderful, bathrooms were roomy and clean. The staff always said good morning how are you. It was a nice part of town even while they were doing construction. I will definitely stay there again when out there in two months or so.”

- The bed was comfortable.
- Bell boys were not very helpful.
“This hotel is in the heart of ghetto-town and near the public bus stops. There were bums everywhere, not to mention all the construction on Broad Street. Maybe in 15 years this place will be better. The room I stayed in the first night did not have working air-conditioning, so I had to change rooms. The indoor pool looked a bit grimy. In Staff a few were helpful and friendly, more were rude and obviously more interested in making tips. On the whole, the staff 'did not' go out of their way to provide good customer service. I would not stay at the Marriot in Richmond again. I recommend paying more money for the Omni or a B&B.”

“There should be a way to notify the traveler of extra expenses for any given hotel In this case there was no free parking in the area. The hotel offered $18.00 valet service, and there was a public garage with in walking distance for $14.00 a day. It was an expense I didn't expect.”

- Staff was so friendly and helpful. I would stay there again just to get treated this well.
- There was no light fare place to eat lunch (just the expensive restaurant and a Lite Starbucks).
“We could not have been happier with our stay at the Richmond Marriott. It started out well as it is really easy to find off the highway and everything just continued as planned from there. The staff was phenomenal -- greeting us every time we entered, and answering our many questions about the area. The cleaning crews in the room were friendly and efficient. The location is superb for sightseeing (it is next to the convention center too). We walked to nearly everything. It is also on a main road in town, so everything was easy to get to when we did want to drive. The parking in the public lot is easily accessible to the building via a glass overpass over the public road. They also validate your parking so you can have unlimited in-out privileges in the public garage. We used the workout facilities which were separated into 2 rooms because there was so much equipment. One room for weights and equipment, and another for cardio workouts. There were rarely more than a few people there when we went in, but we did visit on a weekend. Overall, we are extremely pleased with our hotel and would stay there again!”

I don't believe they were properly trained. Food came out piecemeal and in no particular order, both times we ate there. Food and alcohol were very expensive and we are used to NY prices, so we thought excessive.”

- Perfect location and great service as expected from the star level of the hotel.
- No wireless internet access in the rooms and only pay service for broadband.
“Overall, experience was great. Only drawback for a business oriented hotel in the Downtown area of Richmond, you have to pay extra for internet service on top of the normally high price. Parking was not a problem but the lot itself didn't feel the safest being behind the hotel in a parking deck. The room was great, beds were new and the service excellent. The bar charged $10 for a simple shot of mixed drink which was a little too much.”

- Cookies in the lobby until late, pool, friendly staff who know about the area and can recommend must see sights.
- Only issue (now common) is the windows in the hotel do not open, so all rooms feel a bit stuffy.

- Nice room.
- Parking, staff was not very helpful with details. Probably trying to push valet which is not a valid reason to omit such important information.
“Aside from being completely in the dark regarding parking, the stay was comfortable. And yes, I did inquire about self parking, but was not given adequate information.”

- Great location.
- No free wireless in room internet.
“The hotel is large to accommodate large conferences. I would have preferred the hotel rate to be higher, but provide free in room internet. One does not like to feel "nickeled and dimed". The beds are very comfortable and the room views are nice.”

- Bed was extremely comfortable. Staff was very helpful. 100% nonsmoking.
- Parking was inconvenient. Regular rates were expensive.
“I live just outside of Richmond, but my girlfriend does not. I made dinner reservations downtown for her birthday and thought a hotel room would be a nice romantic touch. When I saw the prices of 3 star hotels downtown, I didn't think Id be able to swing it. The room was very nice and clean. The king size bed was amazing. The staff was helpful. And my girlfriend loved every bit of it. I would definitely stay at this hotel again maybe not for the full price, but I wouldn't need 60% off to go. Parking wasn't great. I would recommend parking across the street and paying yourself instead of through the hotel or on the street for free if you can.”

- Nice indoor pool and gym, bed mattress toppers were really comfy and had bath and body works shampoo/lotion/etc.
- Did not tell me parking was $12 they led me to think it was included since I got my ticket validated. It took 3 hours for my mini fridge to arrive.
“Very nice place to stay if you can get it for less than a hundred bucks. The staff was nice and I felt a little ritzy since I got a good deal and could afford to stay at such a nice place. .”
