• Great location and fantastic bargain.
• Bar service and front desk service could stand improvement.

“Perfect for a downtown location at a great rate. Rooms are spacious and new beds and bedspreads have been recently placed in every room. Convenient shuttle service from the airport and generally friendly staff. Updates are in progress, but as is the hotel is a clean, comfortable, full service hotel.”

• The size of the rooms.
• No negatives.

“The hotel was beautiful. We were greeted immediately and the receptionist took note of my worn out appearance. She was so sweet and helpful. The ramp connects directly to the hotel eliminating the need to go outside to get to the hotel lobby. The lobby was beautifully decorated and the names of special groups were prominently displayed. Despite the crowds of people, everyone was very courteous and prompt at meeting our needs. The parking cost was extra but a real bargain at $4 per night. I would go there again anytime!”

“This is a wonderful hotel with very friendly employees and I would recommend it for any one that is either traveling Solo or with Family there are restaurants close by and Disney right around the corner shuttle leaves every thirty minutes or so.”

• Front desk computer systems did not work. This caused very slow service.

“This hotel is ugly and grubby. The staff is very nice but also very slow (or else they are understaffed). It took me about an hour to get completely checked in and into my (correct) room. The restaurant is abysmal, which is especially painful since virtually all other food in downtown Rochester is unavailable in the evening. No kidding, room service delivers $15 plates of what might as well be dog food.”

• Cheap ($4) garage parking at a downtown hotel is unusual but most welcome.
• It would have been nice if the business centre included free internet access.

• Nice shower, working water, good air conditioning.
• Dirty, unclean towels provided, parking fee, terrible restaurant/ bar.

“I have stayed at many budget as well as very upscale hotels. This has the potential to be a very nice place, but the facilities need to be managed correctly. Restaurant and bar were terrible, with bad food and even worse service. This is the first time I was ever given dirty towels and stained bed sheets. Very poorly run hotel.”

• The time I spent there was very comfortable.
• After cleaning the room face cloths and lining the trash cans were not done. I purchased two rooms and my sister room after cleaning was left open.

“I did not spend a lot of time in the hotel to make a comment on the hotel. Your gift shop is really too high. I also think that paying for parking was a bit much.”

“It is an older hotel that is located in a poor section of town with no evening activities available. Unless it is dramatically upgraded in terms of rooms and amenities, I do not recommend it as a place except for budget travelers.”

• Parking was convenient and inexpensive.
• In need of renovation - loud guests and staff in the hallways.

“I am from Rochester, and this hotel is on par with a motel rather than a hotel. The rooms are very out of date. It serves its purpose as far as providing a place to crash for a brief stay, but there isn't much in terms of home-away-from-home comfort or the atmosphere of a quality hotel.”

• The cleaning staff was very friendly.
• Pay extra for parking, difficult to get baggage to room.

“The person that checked us in was not very forth coming with information. I was surprised that you had to pay extra for parking. It was difficult to get our stuff up to our room and could not find a bellhop cart. The cleaning staff was very friendly and did a nice job. Overall, for the price I paid, I was satisfied. However, if I had paid full price, I would have been very disappointed.”

• Liked the location right on riverside and convenient to city walk.
• Front desk said would help in restaurant selection within city. But never called me.

“Hotel location is very good. Room cleanliness was average. Room service was average. I had asked for a non smoking room & had given a smoking room. No other rooms available due to a wedding party.”

• Elevators, parking, and restaurant were all stretched beyond their limits.

“I found the rooms to be somewhat worn down, though comfortable. There were many inconveniences: TV remote was out of batteries, challenging elevators (had to be really quick getting in and pushing buttons otherwise you will go for a ride), no available parking lead us to the overrun outdoor lot (few blocks to the hotel door) which we had to pay for, and being given a smoking room first. Location is within downtown area.”

• Very helpful, friendly staff.
• I paid for oversized vehicle parking & other cars that had not paid filled all of those spots so that I couldn't park when I returned each evening.

“The oversized vehicle parking difficulty could have been easily resolved. (security didn't have people move after checking in which filled the paid for reserved spaces) There is a free garage with entrances into the hotel lobby. Otherwise my experience was a nice downtown hotel with a helpful, professional staff.”

• The Lobby was gorgeous.
• Ended up with a smoking room.

“The Hotel is in a good location in the city. The garage can be a little tricky to get to with rolling luggage. Have to take steps or hopefully find a parking space on the Lobby level. Beds are very comfortable. Good views of the city.”

“The hotel is clean and the staff is friendly. The view from the upper floors was great. The wireless internet connection was a big plus to us. The restaurant serves good food, however the hours are a little bit too short.”

• Bathroom is a little outdated, so is hotel elevator.

“Given the price I paid, no complain. the hotel locates in the heart of Rochester, by the river as it says. room is clean and nice (not luxury but good enough). front desk staff is friendly, restaurant downstairs is good and cheap. I think it is an old hotel though.”

• Free wireless Internet access was a nice bonus.
• Very poorly maintained--leaky toilet, wrinkly carpet, mismatched furniture, loud door, etc.

“This is obviously a hotel that has seen better days and now plows most of its (scarce?) resources into hosting events (proms, gatherings) than into the upkeep of its private rooms. I was very disappointed in the quality of the facility--the toilet in my room leaked, the carpet had wrinkles large enough to trip over, not a single piece of furniture matched with the exception of the two double-bed headboards, and there was so much condensation between the double-paned windows that I couldn't see the river view below. The staff was only moderately friendly and appeared greatly overtaxed. I cannot conceive of paying the regular price to stay at this hotel; even the reduced rate I received was far too much money for such a poor quality establishment.”

• The staff was excellent, courteous & knowledgeable.
• Room was fairly clean but not overly clean.

“Room was pleasant for the price. Location was excellent for our purpose. Staff was excellent. Would stay there again. Only would hope cleaning staff would vacuum before making the bed or at least vacuum floor hidden by bedspread.”

• It was fine, nothing special, floor was non smoking and everything was fine.

“My stay was fine, nothing special, but nothing that was not satisfactory. Parking was easy and the staff accommodated me by giving me a room with frig and microwave. Hotel could use some talc, getting a bit worn.”

• Some of the roomer were left open during tile tear out and refurbishing of the room
• I walked into one room that was under reconstruction .loose ceramic tiles were all over the floor. Then there was the largest cockroach I ever saw wow!

“They met all of our expectations...were able to accommodate us with adjoining rooms since we had 6 older children with us. Location was excellent for what we were in town for...and of course the price made it affordable for us.”

• Needs major renovation and cleaner rooms.

“Sufficient for a one-night stay in a pinch. Hotel rooms were not the cleanest and the pool area including the pool was very odd. However the staff at the pool was wonderful.”

• Location overlooking Geneses River
• Surrounding streets less than attractive.

“This hotel seems to be going downhill since my last visit in 2004. There are numerous signs that maintenance is being deferred (leaks in ceilings and stairwells, dirty carpets) and there is a general feeling of abandonment about the place. I would not recommend it to another traveler and I would not want to stay there again.”

• Room was not clean, door did not open properly, front desk was little help.

“After receiving our room key and finding it did not open our door, we went to the front desk to have the keys reprogrammed. The 2nd set did not work either, and it took the hotel close to an hour to finally get us in to our room. Room was in bad repair (worn carpet, old fixtures) and not especially clean. We have been traveling and staying in hotels for almost one month this summer, and this hotel was one of my least favorites.”

• Towels in room were dirty and it took 2 calls and 5 hours to get them replaced.

“This is a nice hotel in a good location. The bathroom had mold in the shower tiles and the towels were dirty. The outdoor pool closed early on one of the hottest days of the year. Not a good value for the price.”

“2 cup coffee maker in room, but no continental breakfast or even coffee. Additional payment for parking even if you're a hotel guest. Beggars outside the hotel each one with the same story. Car broke down, trying to get home, need money etc. No security in sight at night. Couldn't wait to leave. Feel ripped off.”

• Great location, mostly helpful staff, beautiful view of the river.
• Our bathroom was FILTHY and it took the hotel staff over an HOUR to relocate us.

“The hotel was in a convenient location with a beautiful view of the river. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The rooms were kind of shabby not what we expected, but not bad. The bathroom in our room was filthy and it took the staff over an hour to relocate us, not a good idea when dealing with weary travelers. When the manager did finally come up to relocate us, he was very nice and apologetic and he placed us in a nice clean room.”
