• Bad smell in room, small bed, no couch.

“It had a kitchen with one fork and spoon, nothing to wash it with and it there was a horrible smell in the room. The hallway smelled like dead fish. There was nowhere for a child to sleep. I see why it was not packed on a busy holiday weekend!”

• Not clean, not maintained, desk clerk did not use good judgement or common sense.

“Doors would not lock properly, air conditioning failed (it was hot and humid), doors were falling of the hinges, the room was not clean and there were bugs crawling around the room. She kept insisting that the motel was full but had nicer rooms that were unrented. Customers who came in before and after us had problems as well and were treated poorly.”

• Ants- a few coming out of outlet.

“This was a good value. The room was clean. They offered me free wireless upon check-in. Nice size refrigerator. Good location. There were a few ants coming out of a wall outlet and the staff offered to change my room.”

• The rooms were nice and clean and located near restaurants and shopping.
• There are zero extras at this hotel including daily maid service. There are no ice machines or samples of shampoos in the rooms.

“This is a good okay place if you only want a place to sleep. There are no extras at this location in Wilmington. There is no pool, continental breakfast, no ice machines (there is a vending machine), no daily cleaning service, and no small samples of shampoo in the rooms. The rooms are clean and adequate for a short stay. I would recommend this place to a business traveler more than a leisure traveler.”

“The hotel was horrible-dirty, smelled horrific-the worst place I've ever been. My husband and I were physically sick because of the smoking room and hallways. I am allergic to smoke.”

“When I arrived I was told that they probably did not have a clean room. All I was doing was trying to find out my options for a room. I was told twice that I had to stay there even though it might be a not so clean room and the staff was unhappy with me.”

• There were a lot of things.

“If you stay under a week, there is not a maid service. We were there 6 nights, and the room sorely needed a cleaning! To get new towels we had to go down to the lobby every other day. The stairwells were scary. One of the towels we picked up had a hair in it. Each of the lamps had issues - some did not work. The TV was only around 14" and didn't have VCR/DVD hook-ups. There isn't a pool. Queen size bed with sheets that barely fit. You have to pay for internet use.”

• Having a little kitchen in the room is convenient and can save money.
• The staff just didn't seem to care and never seemed to have the customers as a priority.

“The room and hotel were OK, conveniently located between Wrightsville beach and Downtown Wilmington. We were greeted by a very crabby staff member who had a hard time finding our reservation, so we just avoided the reception desk for the rest of our stay. We would like to mention that we paid the same price for staying at the ExtendedStay America in Chapel Hill, NC, where we were much more pleased with the service and amenities. The Chapel Hill Extended stay offers a pool, gym, and continental breakfast (including fresh fruit) - none of which is offered by the Wilmington ExtendedStay. Furthermore, the Chapel Hill hotel staff was very friendly and always available to help!”

• The room was very comfortable. The kitchen was a really big plus. There were more channels on TV than expected and the room was cleaner than expected.
• When you turned on the air it smelled like wet dog.

“I would definitely consider this hotel for future travel. The room was clean, comfortable, and quiet. It was a mini home away from home.”

“Overall great location room, didnt have an iron though and it took me 10 minutes to actually get waited on to begin with, and the door key kept getting jammed and had to be jiggled just to open and take out of the lock.”

“Large, clean, studio-style room. Early in the evening there was a lot of noise on the floor, televisions going, dogs barking, but over the evening, it was relatively quiet. The location was good, and the staff was quite friendly. I wish the bed had been a bit more comfortable.”

“This is an ideal hotel for visiting UNCW or getting Downtown. All is clean and modern, staff is friendly, and you are close to restaurants and shopping. We appreciated the strong wireless internet and kitchenette. ESA is becoming my favorite value hotel.”

• The staff at the hotel was nice and friendly.
• This particular hotel didn¿t have daily maid service so had to go down and get clean towels if wanted.

“This hotel is a nice place to stay at if you are looking for a place like a home. You get maid service only once a week. There is a kitchen in there with full size fridge, stove and microwave. The staff is nice and friendly. It is located in the middle of a well populated area of places to eat, shop and things to do.”

• Hard pillows, noise from hallway - door not insulated enough.

“The room was a good size, not cramped. Nice mini kitchen. Good location for me. The entry doors, walls or whatever could use some insulation. I was awakened @ pre-dawn from people talking in the hallway. The bedding was definitely mid-grade. The pillows were hard and so was the mattress for me, though I know some like a hard mattress. The decor was also mid-grade, though nice looking, neat and clean.”

• The location was great! an awesome restaurant with an awesome buffet and entertainment for kids and adults and shopping is all in walking distance.
• I was disappointed with the size and quality of the television and the fact there was not a radio in the room.

“Hotel staff was friendly and I felt security was good since the front door locked at 11pm and you had to have a room key to access the facility. The rooms are newly remodeled. We would stay there again because of the quality we received at a good price.”

• Rooms were roomy and had a nice kitchenette area.
• Only had one road entrance that was on a congested street.

“this would be great for business travelers cause the room had a desk, small dinette and adequate size kitchenette area. The rooms also had large picture windows that could be opened to the outside. Was a little noisy. Could hear people in the hallway and in the next room. The location was convenient to restaurants and next door to Wal-mart. It wasn't directly on the main road which was good cause you could use the back streets and miss some of the heavier traffic although the entrance/exit was on a congested street.”

“This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. The rooms, the bedding, carpet all looked outright ugly and at least 50 years old. The pillows looked so ugly we had to put bath towels on it to sleep. I did not check out of the hotel right away for two reasons. Though, I did not want to waste my precious vacation time hunting for another hotel. I would never recommend this hotel. I would stay away from extended stay hotels if possible. If they care about quality, this hotel should not carry their name. ”

“I did not even spend the night in this hotel, it was so awful. This was not a hotel. Rather, it was a living place for transient people. As a woman traveling alone, I would not stay there. It was worth it for me to pay an additional $129 per night to stay at the nearby Courtyard by Marriott.”

“Had to put kids in room some distance away - hotel didn't notice the "booking" and were unable to remedy that oversight at check-in. There was no maid service (4 days is a long time w/o) - there wasn't even the option of a wake-up call ("we don't do wake-up calls"). Overall - this was perhaps the least attentive hotel I've visited this year (that would be a comparison of perhaps 150 hotels in the last 12 months).”

• A lot of noise in the room. Paint thinner smell in hallway and can left by door.

“It seemed to be in the process of remodeling. The rooms were clean but the hallway was smelly and dirty looking. A laundry basket was left outside under a ledge by our room and the rain hitting it kept us awake most of the night. The beds were fairly hard however clean. The blanket had a burn place on it.”

• Adequate kitchen. Newly remodeled room.
• Too many big pickups in a small parking lot.

“This hotel is undergoing an extensive remodeling. The hallway is messy, but the remodeled room is pleasant to earn a two star rating. Furniture arrangement is very functional. Bring your own shampoo and hair dryer.”
