Ted from Advance,NC “I really don't think that this hotel met the standards of Courtyard at Marriott.” Sep 2, 2009 by
Tay from Casper,WY
“Terrible hotel for Courtyard. Dirty room and hallways, and a rude staff. Hard to find location. Really disappointed. Have stayed at other Courtyards and this was a pit.” Aug 20, 2009 by
Patrick from Gloucester,VA
“The only room available was a smoking room that smelled horrible. It took 20 minutes to wait for a parking spot to become available. As a paying customer that should be a guarantee.” Aug 8, 2009 by
Andy from Woodstock,VA “We mentioned to the staff that we were celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and when we returned to the room later that evening we found a card and gift bag -- we really appreciate the thoughtfulness. However, while we were out we had received a call from one of our daughters, telling us she was in labor -- so we checked out immediately and made it to the hospital in time to witness the birth of our grandson! This was an anniversary to remember!” Jul 15, 2009 by
Kim from Charlotte,NC
“This is a very pleasant hotel located on the main business route 29. It is about 3 miles from University of Virginia and downtown Charlottesville. The hotel is completely smoke-free and is very clean. It appeared to have new carpets, new furniture and new linens on the bed. The room was very spacious and also had a refrigerator. My infant daughter was with us and the hotel delivered a port-a-crib moments after we asked for it. The air conditioning was controlled by a thermostat in the room rather than one of those ancient, noise-making air conditioners. The upper level floors have a balcony as well. The pool is indoors and there is also a hot tub. The building is a big rectangle and in the center is a nicely landscaped courtyard that can be accessed through the pool area. The outside of the building is nothing special, but it is clean and pleasant overall. The only thing I didn't like about the hotel is that there is a staircase on one end by the lobby and an elevator on the other end, but since the hotel is very long you have to do a lot of walking if you are anywhere in the middle.” Jul 4, 2009 by
Sandra from Stephenson,VA
“We always try to stay in Courtyard or Residence, but were disappointed in the quality of this particular hotel. It looked like they had purchased a cheaper hotel and put the Marriott name on it. The beds were nice - upgraded, with soft pillows. The towels were like sandpaper. Usual high quality was lacking. Service in the restaurant was terrible.” Jun 17, 2009 by
Evan Jane from Chevy Chase,MD
“The Courtyard at Marriott in Charlottesville, Virginia is a lovely hotel. It is a few miles outside the historic downtown area, but an easy and quick drive. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. The property is meticulously maintained. There is a lovely indoor pool and Jacuzzi but I did not have my swimsuit! Staff is friendly, helpful and courteous. Totally recommend this place.” Jun 5, 2009 by
Virginia from Wyomissing,PA
“We were very pleased with the hotel and our room. The room was clean and beds were very comfortable. The staff that we had contact with were all very friendly and courteous.” May 26, 2009 by
Christian from Annandale-On-Hudson,NY
“Clean, fairly new hotel (completely non-smoking), off a business strip between airport and university (3 miles away, direct access). I had the smallest available room, but it was plenty large for me. Attractive interior, comfortable bed.” Apr 28, 2009 by
Tim from Greensboro,NC
“They ought to think about adding another breakfast option for guests who only get 1 plate of food instead of assuming everyone will load up since you are at a all-you-can-eat buffet that doesn't have too many choices.” Apr 18, 2009 by
Linda from Neenah,WI
“Hotel was beautiful and quiet and clean. Beds were very comfortable. Pool area had poor lighting, poor acoustics and was loud. No free breakfast, but free coffee and tea and newspapers.” Nov 18, 2008 by
Joan from Danville,VA
“The hotel was extremely clean. The rooms were quite modern with an excellent desk. The front desk staff, namely, Mr. Wood, was always friendly and helpful.” Oct 30, 2008 by
Kami
“Perfectly solid Courtyard. Nothing special about the room. I liked the coffee & tea in the lobby and it was free to print my boarding pass and other documents.” Oct 1, 2008 by
Randy
“Over priced.” Aug 11, 2008 by
Mario from Granville, OH
“Excellent hotel for the casual business traveler or for when on vacation with the family. Staff was helpful and courteous.” Jul 30, 2008 by
Marcia from Leesburg, VA
“It appeared that they redid the bedroom part of the room but the bathroom appeared to show his age and the bathroom floor was sticky. Also, I got stuck in a handicapped shower and the water went everywhere!” Jul 29, 2008 by
Jesse from Virginia Beach, VA
“The room was not as big as we were led to believe. There was no vent in the bathroom which I thought was very odd for the caliber of hotel it was. The staff was very helpful and friendly.” Jul 26, 2008 by
Mary from Kinston, NC
“Liked the hotel and staff but the bed was the worst. It sank in the middle and you could not turn over without feeling like you were going to fall off the side.” Jul 19, 2008 by
Bill from Clyde, NC
“Grandparents with 2 small children made the room small. Entering the room, TV remote didn't work, but they fixed it quickly. Biggest & only hassle was the low toilet. Felt like it was 6" above the floor. As seniors, my wife & I had difficulty as there was no hand rail. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Clean throughout.” May 26, 2008 by
Jim from Bim, WV
“Really comfortable clean beds with great pillows.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Tom from Mclean, VA
“Very clean, attractive lobby. Room clean, very comfortable. Staff friendly, very, very helpful. Plenty of good places to eat nearby.” Apr 6, 2008 by
Wayne from Raleigh, NC
“The Hotel is for the most part an enjoyable place to stay for the money! The Quality of this facility is excellent! I truly look forward to spending time at this facility while working in this area. With the Exception of the Night Auditor I consider the staff to be customer friendly!” Apr 3, 2008 by
Jack from Roaonoke, VA
“One of the best values in the Charlottesville area, clean, centrally located and well maintained. Would stay there again and probably will.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Garry M. from Herndon, VA
“We like the hotel, it's location, the facilities and the friendliness of the staff.” Mar 27, 2008 by

“Okay older style courtyard. Fine for short stay but nothing special.” Mar 26, 2008 by
Linda from Lake Ozark, MO
“Very well maintained. Very comfortable.” Mar 2, 2008 by
Sarah from Williamsburg, VA
“The Courtyard is a moderate level hotel, but the staff made me feel like I was at home. The front desk clerk at check-in was very friendly and funny and offered lots of local information in response to my inquiry. When I came down to the cafe a minute or two after "closing" looking for breakfast, the buffet food was dried out but I was still treated to excellent service. Every employee I came across in the halls said "hello".” Feb 25, 2008 by
Patricia from Elkins, WV
“I been here numerous times and this is the first time I have had real trouble with the starch on the sheets. So much so I curled up in the chair instead, since I was developing a reaction to it. First place I have ever know to use this method to produce crisp light sheets. The Courtyard rooms are nice. The kids there obviously were having a great time though.” Feb 20, 2008 by
Laura from Roanoke, VA
“This hotel was exceptionally comfortable, in a great location and very good to work with. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.” Feb 18, 2008 by
Lisa from Prospect, VA
“I expected more from the name Courtyard Marriott. While the furniture was nice, there were very limited decorum. There was no trashcan in the bathroom. The ambience was not up to what the name implies.” Feb 17, 2008 by
Bonnie from South Boston, VA
“We stay in Charlottesville on the average of 30 days at least a year, we are always happy when we can get our room at this hotel.” Feb 13, 2008 by
Patricia from Elkins, WV
“This is my second visit. A larger double room has ample space, very nice decor, work and storage space. Ethernet is available and cord is supplied in room. A 12 check out time can if necessary be extended, latest to 2. Indoor pool and work out room, a lobby both for check in and elongated with gas fireplace in the middle, larger flat screen TV at other and a larger area for seating looks upon the inner courtyard, the business center is a curved open space with several computers available. A very nice space and quiet location but easy access to all of the shopping areas of 29, two blocks from 64 and a quick drive to the University. A great hotel for business and relaxation, for the family, or a romantic night or two. Quieter and more relaxed feel than the Doubletree. My favorite: the lobby area with the gas fireplace as a get away from your room (or kids) to work or just plain relax. Service is great, friendly, and the hotel is environmentally 'green' conscious. Coffee with liquid creamers available 24 hours in the lobby. Breakfast extra but served on location.” Jan 28, 2008 by
Brandon from Lincoln, NE
“This was a great hotel. Nice staff, clean and good location. If I was in the area I would definitely stay there again.” Jan 23, 2008 by
Brooke from Ashland, VA
“Very friendly, clean, easy to find.” Jan 22, 2008 by
Debi from Forest, VA
“Overall good value for what I paid. We could only get 2 queens, not a king.” Jan 17, 2008 by
Ub from Tampa, FL
“The hotel was clean and the room was spacious and the bed was comfortable.” Jan 14, 2008 by
Jinseok from San Diego, CA
“Everything was fine, but there isn't sound proof. It was embarrassing to hear next door's activity while I was in the room with my family.” Jan 13, 2008 by
Evelyn from Charlottesville, VA
“This is a great hotel. I was pleasantly surprised. It was better than expected.” Jan 11, 2008 by
Patricia from Elkins, WV
“One of my favorites. A very warm relaxed elegant place. While not huge, it has everything you want and need, and a very nice lobby with a gas fireplace, plenty of seating and Christmas tree (it was Christmas time of year). Breakfast is extra. Coffee, tea and liquid creamer available 24 hours. If you are traveling with older kids, you can escape to the lobby for reading, enjoying the fireplace or watching football on the big screen at the other end. Hotel personnel at nice happy and pleasant. In the room a single double bed and a fold out couch were excellent. Room service is provided by a off site location and can be billed to the room. It was fine. You don't have to use the lobby entrance as there are two entrances on each branch. My recommendation was to include a map of the hotel in the book. It has a neat pull out computer table and you have ethernet available, cord supplied in room. Location to University of VA is excellent as well as the shopping areas, RT 29, and 64.” Jan 5, 2008 by
Gene from Virginia Beach, VA
“Lovely Courtyard Marriot with good access to room and parking. It was well kept, clean, and friendly. I liked it. If others are bouncing balls, or let doors slam, you can hear it. However, at night, it was quiet.” Jan 3, 2008 by
Mary from North Garden, VA
“Very nice. Comfortable bed. Convenient parking. Refrigerator in room.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Mari from Rome, GA
“The staff was rude, uncooperative and downright Nasty (particularly the clerk who checked us in and the restaurant server.) The room was safe, clean and comfortable. Restaurant breakfast was fine, nothing special and very expensive for a Courtyard.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Loretta from Ocean View, DE
“The hotel was wonderful and a nice walk to the shopping mall.” Dec 30, 2007 by
Byron from Toronto, ON CA
“Marriott does it again. Super comfortable mattresses, excellent heating/ac/ very reasonably priced hot breakfast, always brewing coffee. Excellent free computers connected to printers in lobby. One of the best Marriotts Ive stayed at, and Im a Silver Elite.” Dec 28, 2007 by
Margaret from Vinton, VA
“This was one of the cleanest hotels that I have ever been in. The layout was not good. Have to take the steps.” Dec 26, 2007 by
Susan from Flushing, NY
“At first glance it seemed quite far away from the campus and historic Downtown, but the driving to these places takes about 5 10 minutes and there is a wide array of restaurants that are located within 5 min driving of the hotel. The rooms are spacious and clean.” Dec 4, 2007 by
Amie from Hampton, VA
“It was a beautiful hotel. The pool and hot tub was nice and open late hours, which was nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful.” Nov 27, 2007 by
Elena from Vienna, VA
“I liked the staff and everything. The pool was great and they let me take my grandkid as a guest. I will stay at the Courtyard next holiday season when visiting Charlottesville” Nov 12, 2007 by
Laura from Lakewood, CA
“Excellent value and experience with staff and overall quality; facilities were absolutely in line with expectations of a courtyard property but the staff made it one of the best hotels we stayed at. We were greeted promptly, given verbal and written directions to tourist sites locally, and even chatted about what brought us to the hotel on this occasion. The staff could not have been nicer and the experience overall should bump up the star rating to at least a "3" from "2.5".” Oct 13, 2007 by
James from Neosho, MO
“Very nice place to stay in Charlottesville, if you don't mind being a few miles from the attractions.”
