- Room was spacious and clean. Had microwave and fridge.
- Under renovation. Restaurant was in a temporary location.
“The hotel was convenient to shopping and UVA. Rooms were cleaned daily and had plenty of space for myself, husband and two children (9 and 12). Nothing spectacular, but very clean and came complete with microwave and refrigerator. We were somewhat disappointed with the restaurant because it was in a temporary location due to construction. Overall, a very nice experience.”

- Staff at desk was very pleasant and helpful.
- Construction going on, not even able to swim without noise.
“May be under normal circumstances this hotel is better quality. It is being remodeled and had no refrigerator or microwave in the room. We had to wait until the next morning to get one (they had to find one, and we were told that we would be moved if they didn't). When we tried to swim, the jackhammer constantly remodeled upstairs. Ceilings, windows, etc. needed a good cleaning.”

- The room service manage was very nice.
- Nearly everything else. Staff, rooms, beds etc.
“This hotel is nowhere near 3 star quality as claimed. Firstly it is under construction, but despite that it has many other downfalls. There are prominent signs reminding you to lock up your valuables and car. The desk staff was unfriendly and the manager even more so when we complained about the construction, and the construction crews ogling my wife. It is an older hotel that has been renovated, but they skipped parts of the renovation so some things like the sinks in the bathrooms and the balconies appear old and run down. The beds were hard and the blankets were of the quality that I would only expect in a lower end hotel. The one good thing I could say about the hotel is the room service food was good and the room service staff was quite friendly. Overall I would not recommend this hotel if your expectations are 3 stars.”

- The room was excellent. The staff was very friendly.
- The location wasn't good. When trying to get to the hotel parking lot. We passed it and went in the neighborhood directly behind it which wasn't good.

“This hotel was conveniently located and will be nicer when the construction is finished. The new counter top in the bath room extends about 3" further than the toilet tank cover so that the lid will not stay up. This is very annoying because if you sit down the lid rests against your back. Yuk. We were staying a week so we went and bought some duct tape to hold it up.”

- Rather removed from anything - not in walking distance to much of anything.
“A clean room with nice beds, free Wi-Fi, and mint-smelling soap. Sliding glass door to tiny balcony opens only 4 inches. Currently experiencing remodeling- some remodeling noises. Is built into a hill as the ground floor is actually the 3rd; pool, laundry, and exercise room are on the 2nd floor; there is no 1st floor; top floor is the 7th.”

“While not a bad hotel, it has certainly seen better days, and the staff could do us all the favor of not stacking dozens of stinky, dirty room service dishes in the hallway well into the afternoon. Also, in a rather feeble attempt at sprucing the place up, our bathroom received a make-over. But the toilet and bathroom counter were designed in such a way that the seat could not stay up, and the faucet didn't have an enough reach into the sink to even comfortably wash your hands.”

- Extremely poor unfriendly service during and after 2 nights of fire alarms and very hard beds.
“Noisy road location, used fan to drown out noise, poor service and attitude, no response to my request at front desk and later phone call was not returned by manager, attempt to get "100% guarantee of satisfaction" money back for both nights of fire alarms, they turned the fire bell off by putting a broom handle against it on the 2nd night due to inability to turn it off, fire fighters said they couldn't find a cause, maybe water pressure in sprinkler system, no info. provided to guests, not even "we're sorry" or "have some coffee now that you've been awake hearing the alarm going for 45min." Front desk personnel never apologized for problem and didn't even say goodbye when I checked out. Their hotel literature states they have the "most up-to-date fire prevention and alarm systems" and "take great pride in providing our guests with the utmost in professional and personalized service". I experienced the worst service from any three star hotel that I've ever stayed at. Very good cleaning staff.”

- Location was very good for a Monticello trip and the staff was friendly.
- The staff failed to tell us the restaurant was under construction.
“Our visit was marred by a bad breakfast experience. The restaurant is being renovated. We did not learn that from the staff, or from the signs with appetizing pictures of the available food. Hungry in the morning and unable to get an answer at room service, we dressed and went downstairs, only to learn there was no restaurant, just table service in the hallway. Every time a guest went in or out we got a blast of 30-degree wind. It was unpleasant and unnecessary. If not for the bad breakfast experience, it would have been a well-priced, pleasant trip, giving us the location and indoor pool we needed.”

“To start off with, the bed was broken- not soft or hard- actually broken in the middle. The TV has 29 channels 4 of which are ESPN. The AC was louder than the airplanes coming in to land. For the price I expected a complimentary continental breakfast- but no. And their restaurant was closed for renovations. The walls and door are so paper thin that you can hear normal conversations through the walls. It was an awful stay and I wouldn't waste my time or money on it again.”

- Staff was nice. Indoor pool.
- Phone in room was not working.
“This hotel is very nice for people visiting Charlottesville, especially if you have a student at UVA. They are one of only a few in the area with an indoor pool.”

- It had a roof and a heater.
- Lobby reeked of cigarette smoke. Front desk attendant was curt. Ramp for luggage cart yards away from entrance & uncovered.
“In addition to the previously mentioned problems, both double beds in our room were equiped with twin-sized mattress covers. I never, ever want to sleep on a bed with nothing but a sheet separating me from the mattress. It isn't relaxing to fall asleep hoping you don't roll off your mattress cover. Had I been traveling with my husband, this would have been an even bigger issue. We placed a very simple room service order which was not delivered as ordered. It was removed from our bill (at least that's what we were told) but I would have preferred to have the breakfast as ordered. Like most travelers, we didn't have time to wait for a correction to be delivered. I want to reiterate the irritation of having the ramp (for me it was for a luggage cart) so far from the entrance and completely unprotected from the elements. (Front desk attendant did not offer to call anyone to help us with our luggage.) It was a very cold night and there was a cold drizzle falling. I couldn't help wondering why this is considered an acceptable way to greet guests in wheelchairs or who require walkers.”
