• It was not very clean. Our room smelt as if it had been a smoking room and had been treated to a room freshener - a very chemical smell.

“A good location - 4 miles to Monticello and 3 miles to historic center. The restaurant and bar area are sad, in need of redecoration and the overall hotel and rooms are not very clean. With the exception of one evening receptionist, who recommended a restaurant, the staff was disinterested. As I left she didn't even ask if we had enjoyed our stay - I had to call her back and when I said the hotel room was not very clean she just shrugged.”

• The desk personal knew who I was before I checked in.
• The air conditioner was not on in my room. It made it very damp and humid, even several hours after I turned the air conditioner on.

“This hotel was an easy off/on from I-64. The entrance was clean of debris. The lobby was not huge, but looked comfortable. The room was adequately furnished, although it looked dated. The room itself was clean. The air conditioner was turned off and the room was very damp. It took a long time for the humidity to dissipate. The air conditioning worked well, however. I did not use the restaurant. There was no free breakfast.”

• Liked the big window in the room and the comfortable bed.
• The wait in the restaurant was too long.

“The room was comfortable, the staff was friendly and polite, and the food in the restaurant was good. The only complaint was the wait in the restaurant. It seemed that there was only one cook, so, due to the long wait for my food to come, I ended up being late for a meeting the morning I checked out.”

• Location only.
• A smoking room. I hate smokers. Asked for another room-Double bed only.

“Good staff. Good location. Perhaps I did not understand that I must sleep in a double bed. I was very unhappy with the entire situation. I did not sleep the entire evening nor did my wife. I did not expect a smoking room. The original room smelled like an ashtray. Thanks.”

• Hotel is convenient to the interstate and downtown Charlottesville, room was comfortable, had fridge/microwave, free wireless internet.
• The bed linens were clean but the pillows themselves needed to be cleaned, they had odors.

“This is an older hotel, however our room was comfortable and clean. The hotel is convenient to both the interstate and downtown Charlottesville.”

“This is a family style hotel. The lobby has adequate space though not fancy. The room is clean with enough space. The employees are friendly. The only negative is that the parking lot lighting is poor making me feel insecure.”

• Outdoor cleanliness was very poor. Guests were loitering & trash.

• Down comforters, upgraded shower curtain.
• Couch was hard and uncomfortable.

“The staff was very kind and attentive, we were upgraded to a suite, the rooms were newly renovated, the halls were hot with no AC, the pool was very old and in need of renovation, the location is perfect between the tourist sites and downtown.”

• The sign was easy to see from the highway.
• Smoky rooms, loud AC in need of repair.

“Do not choose this hotel. I was assigned a former smoking room that still reeked of smoke. Moreover, the AC unit howled and rattled all night.”

• Good location.

“The staff that checked me in was rude, unhelpful, and disrespectful. She was unwilling to consider my requests. The hotel location was good for our needs, and historic downtown Charlottesville was a wonderful surprise. I have been very disappointed in the service I have received at hotels. The price is good but I am questioning if it is worth being treated like a second class guest.”

• Very nice hotel and staff, close to Monticello! I'd go again!
• I would have liked to have had a fridge/micro in the room would have been perfect!

“The staff was very nice and the place was very clean. I wish it would've had a fridge or microwave in the room that would've made it perfect. The shower was wonderful loved the wallpaper. I'd go again in a minute!”

• The location was easy to find right off of I-64, and convenient to downtown Charlottesville and the University.
• The hotel only had a smoking room for us. I thought I had checked that we preferred a non-smoking room.

“The location is good, beds were decent and the bathrooms clean. Hot water was scarce in the morning, and other rooms had the same problem. The bath was dated and in poor repair, the shelf over the toilet had been damaged and was repaired with clear tape and foam! We were placed in a smoking room, which wasn't the end of the world even though we do not smoke, but our night clothes smelled like smoke when we got home, and we only spent 9 hours in the room. Because the hotel was totally full, they could not offer us another room. It was not the best Holiday Inn I've ever stayed in, but we were in town on a busy weekend, and I was thankful to have a room to go to which was near the University!”

• Great location, fluffy pillows, free wireless, beautiful bathrooms, comfy beds, friendly staff and peaceful night sleep.
• The housekeeping didnt run until about 1:30 in the p.m. Which I found odd and a little inconvenient.

“I was shocked, for a 2-2 1/2 star hotel I was expecting a mediocre night stay. I was pleasantly surprised. Room was very clean and spacious with a desk and a chair. The bathroom was just so sweet down to the aromatherapy soaps, (they werent great but they tried.) Breakfast was awesome and the restaurant was ok too. Im pretty snooty and I were impressed. Parking wasnt great after dark but overall I would definitely stay again.”

• The rooms were clean, people were nice and food was great.
• Check in not until 4:00 needs to be a little earlier.

“Overall this was a great place. I got there at 2:00 to find out that the check in wasn't until 4 when the paper said 2, but the lady behind the desk was able to accommodate me and although I didn't get my king size bed, I still had a nice room.”

• I liked the quick check-in process and the cleanliness of the lobby and room.
• I thought the parking rather difficult to park a larger vehicle in.

“My overall experience was positive although the room that I was originally issued was occupied by someone else. The staff promptly gave me another room. The location just off I-64 was ideal and my stay was indeed enjoyable.”

• Hotel room had stains, ac did not work, too loud.

• The staff, particularly the housekeeping staff was friendly and accommodating.
• It's an old hotel and showing wear and tear. The restaurant is not good.

• The pool.
• The room carpet needs to be cleaned. Also, it is almost impossible to adjust the water in the shower to a comfortable temperature.

• Extremely efficient desk staff. Very quick check-in an out.
• I noticed a serious mold problem on the electric outlets. Yes, the outlets.

“Typical Holiday Inn. Good desk staff. Room could be a bit cleaner. Convenient to the Interstate, but two or three miles from the center of town. Nothing nearby but fast food and other hotels.”

“Hotel was clean, room was comfortable, and beds were good with several pillows. Front Desk was not very friendly, they could not offer band aid or hand lotion! For the money, We did not get good value.”

• Excessive noise from kid's running in hall & slamming doors. Cigarette smoke entering thru bathroom vent. Annoying!

• The hotel itself was good, in a good location. The rooms were a good size.
• There was loose metal on the roof and it was noisy most of the night. Hotel staff didn't seem to care about the problem.

“Hotel had fairly good amenities, seemed like a nice restaurant, the room was a good size and the staff at the desk were helpful. It was a rainy night with a lot of wind and there was loose metal on the roof that flapped on and off from 4:00 a.m. I noted this to the staff and they didn't seem too worried about or offer any repartitions.”
