- The layout of the lobby and restaurant - open and welcoming; generous buffet and accommodating, and a friendly staff.
- Unfriendly (indifferent is a better word!) - did not extend themselves in any way. Not a good first impression!
“Front person staff is important to me. Even though I seldom need anything special, I do like to be greeted and have staff be pleasant – that is, look up when you approach, and not act as though asking for a map is a stressful event! Every person I saw had his/her eyes permanently glued to computer screen every moment, even when there was no guest there asking for anything! Everything else was good to better than good. Gym was small, and not air-conditioned, but perfectly adequate. Clean room and green policy was wonderful - asking you to not require fresh linens/towels unless necessary for your needs. Loved that!”

- Clean, secure.
- Small rooms, no breakfast, no public spaces.
“Okay for a single traveler who doesn't mind either paying hotel restaurant price for breakfast or walking to the Dunking Donuts just off the corner of the property. It's clean and reasonably safe, though I wouldn't want to park behind the hotel at night (no visibility from road, no traffic, perfect for thieves).”

- The location was great.
- Bad odor, holes in wall, not enough elevators.
“I was very disappointed in the hotel considering the star rating. This hotel is not even close to a 3.5 star hotel. There was a bad odor outside the hotel all 3 days. The odor was also inside both rooms that we reserved the first day. The hotel has a mildew smell in the halls. The electricity was out on the last night of our stay, so needless to say that did not help our opinion of the facility. The television in the room did not even have inputs to hook up a game or DVD player. Being very generous this hotel should top out at 2.5 stars. It should probably be at 2 stars. The staff checked us in, asked no questions about needing directions or maps or anything. If you are looking for southern hospitality, this is not the place for you. If you are looking for an above average hotel, this is not it.”

- Everything from the beginning to the end it was the worst hotel in every way.
“Nasty and disgusting are the best ways to describe this hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was supposed to be non smoking but was filled with smoke the bathroom smelled like sewage and that was the 3rd room we were moved we stayed for one night and my sister and I ended up with bed bugs (skin lice!) so our trip to this hotel landed us in the doctors. what a way to end a vacation do not stay at this hotel!”

“This was not a 3 star hotel by far. Although the hotel had a food appearance once we first arrived, it did not take long to find out the bad services. We were there (2) days and none of the Ice Machines worked. Period! Hotel hallways were very hot and had a bad aroma/odor.”

“Staff were not overly helpful upon our arrival. My wife and I were informed there were not any non-smoking rooms available. Location is very convenient to beltline and all of Raleigh. My wife has asthma and was effected by the smoking room. She felt ill the following morning due to poor air quality in the room.”

“We had a hard time finding an ice machine with any ice in it. Most of the time they were empty. If there were small refrigerators in the rooms, maybe the ice would go a lot further. Otherwise it was a great experience and the staff was very friendly and very helpful in helping find our way around Raleigh.”

- It was close to major restaurants and freeways.
“The staff was trying to work with what they had. The hotel did not have the pool working. I stayed for 13 days and my room was cleaned only three times with multiple complains from me. The phone only worked of the half the time so I had gone to the front desk in person to get helps or complains which was horrible. HBO was out of service with the exception of 2 nights in my entire stay. The lobby coffee was always cold or out by 9:30 AM and there was shortage of cream to complement the coffee. It was by far one of the worse hotel experiences I had. I don't think that I will be staying there again unless there is significant change.”

“Unlike other hotels in this star rating, the Holiday Inn did not have certain amenities such as a magnifying mirror, small items such as shower cap and sewing kit, and also there was no fan in the bathroom. As stated above, there were at lease four ice machines, none of which worked. I tried them all three days of our stay.”

- Conveniently located to restaurants and shopping.
- Hotel staff was not too attentive.
“While this hotel served it's purpose I would in no way define this as a 3 star hotel. The facilities were nice but very run of the mill. I have definitely been in hotels with a lower rating that have been far more updated in the amenities and services it offers.”

“I was amazed. This hotel was great & ultra clean. Near allot restaurants and a huge mall like a mile down the road. This is a best kept secret. Well it is not a secret anymore. The word is out.”

- The beds and pillows were very nice. The location and price were also excellent.
- We will stay here again the next time we come to this area.
“This hotel is easy to find, in a great location for easy access to the Downtown area of Raleigh and also Walnut Creek Amphitheatre. Lots of food and shopping right around the hotel. Very nice and clean. Well decorated. We slept very well on the beds and pillows. I definitely recommend it.”
