• The desk clerk that greeted me was wonderful. After a long journey he made me feel at home.
• I can't!

“This Holiday Inn was warm, friendly and inviting. The room was immaculate, comfortable and new! The staff was wonderful. I arrived near midnight, yet I was greeted as though it were the middle of the day by an enthusiastic staff member. I was made to feel as though I were being welcomed home. By far the best reception I've ever experienced!”

“Poor housekeeping practices. Hair in the bathroom upon checkin. Hair in the bathroom upon checkout. Didn't appear that the carpet was ever vacuumed during my stay.”

• It is in my home town.
• no parking, elevators not working (room on 6th floor), emergency evacuation in middle of night no reason given

“could not handle nor did attempt to handle all the problems in just two days, manager has still not returned my phone calls, desk clerks were very nice, but unable to handle any issues, they were not even sure about how to conduct the evacuation”

• I'm glad I'm not there anymore.
• Freight train runs by constantly, not a good night sleep at all, horrible.

“Great hotel to stay at if you love to listen to freight trains all night long when you are normally trying to sleep. But don't worry the trains don't seem to run during the morning or day. Only at night when you are trying to sleep. I swear to you I am not exaggerating!”

• located right off highway exit.
• Every thing closed at 9 pm on a Friday, located next to a freight train track that operates all night.

“Hotel is only worth staying in if you need/have to stop driving. Hotel is located next to a rail road track that operates all night. Town of Cumberland shuts down at 9 pm, basically so does the hotel. The hotel parking also leaves alot to be desired(outdoor lot with no security personnel or fence) .”

• Right.
• Night manager bugged us for credit card after 9:30 pm.

“Hotel was fine. Meals were average. Bed was small. Room was very clean. We left credit card number for incidentals at check-in but hours later night manager insisted we didn't and called twice at 9:30-10 pm to get it for room service bill of about $45.”

• The size of the room and the amenities were decent.
• Unfortunately, an exterminator may be needed. My spouse was bitten by a beetle that climbed into her clothes. We put all our clothes in the drawers.

“We liked the hotel overall. They were a bit understaffed, at least the first two nights of our stay. We requested extra pillows and they were provided in a timely manner. We had a problem with the keys staying activated for our room. We also had a bug minor problem. I would recommend staying on the other side of the building due to the constant train traffic.”

• Only valet parking with poor service staff.

“I was very disappointed with this Hilton as it did not meet my expectations. I never allow valet parking and there was no parking garage on site although they did allow me to park and lock my car with a very pleasant valet present. Although I was told that there was no parking garage near by, after checking out I found a parking garage less than a block away for a fraction of the $40 I was charged. The front desk was only staffed with two people and the wait for service was unacceptable. The room was quite small and although the concierge tried to be helpful, he was condescending. I would never stay at this hotel again.”

• It was nice, but only there for a funeral in Cumberland.
• Didn't like being right down town.

“The hotel staff was nice and it would have been ok, but just didn't like being right in the middle of the city. It was convenient for us though, as the funeral home was close by. Thanks for the good price.”

• It was very easy to locate and get checked in.
• You could not open the windows.

“This hotel is conveniently located in the downtown area of Cumberland, close to Lavale and Frostburg. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable, but the decor is old and tired.”

• Location was perfect for us. We were in the process of purchasing a house in the city and everything was within walking distance.
• The hotel bar and eating area were lighted but not staffed. The hotel lost our business because nobody came to serve us.

“I would recommend this hotel. The staff was very pleasant. Room was clean and easy to use. Parking was safe (we had two cars packed with moving gear). The only other bad thing I can say is the bar was not staffed and after waiting 15 minutes for someone to appear, we left. The town has great places to go that are steps from the hotel. We found Reds just two blocks from the hotel. We had a great time there. It boasts a New York style loft cigar bar, darts and pool. Cumberland is a fun town. I would recommend staying at this hotel.”

“The Holiday Inn is a decent hotel for a traveler, but certainly would not qualify as luxurious or a romantic getaway. The hotel is located in Downtown Cumberland, so it is not picturesque, but it is closely located to the "mall" and other key locations in the town. The staff was friendly.”

• Better than the majority of hotels in that area.
• Outdated.

“In terms of places to stay in the Cumberland area this is one of the better ones. It's a 2 star but to be fair, it's clean, the rooms are large, the beds are clean and comfortable and it's pretty convenient. We've stayed in other local hotels while in the area and most of them are very much sub par, the best western being one and red roof being the other. The only other hotel nearby Id recommend is the Hampton Inn in Frostburg. There is a Comfort Inn in LA Vale but I haven't stayed there yet.”

• We liked almost everything about this hotel. The staffs were extremely friendly, the location was perfect. Great place to stay.
• The only bad thing that I could report about this hotel is that the cleaning lady left food from the previous guests in the nightstand.

“This hotel is a great place to stay when staying in the Cumberland Maryland area. It is surrounded by great shops, great restaurants, and even if you don't plan on leaving the hotel there is much to do right there. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The food is fantastic and moderately priced.”

• Was given a large room, king bed, non-smoking for 1/3 of the regular price.
• No complimentary breakfast, room amenities lacking (only shampoo and soap, no cream/sugar for coffee).

“This is a great hotel in downtown Cumberland, potentially the best for the city. It is easily accessible from Rt 68 and is walking distance from Baltimore St shops and dining, as well as historical attractions. The hotel is modern and clean, with a restaurant, lounge/bar, and room service. Although there is no complimentary breakfast, the hotel does have reasonable dining and lounge prices. Light sleepers may not appreciate the proximity to the rails, as night trains can be heard passing across the street. The main parking area is not close to a door, so those with large luggage may want to take this into consideration when arriving. We were extremely pleased with our stay, and our only personal complaint was the lack of cream/sugar for the in-room coffee. A steal for the price we named (50)!”

• It is the best for 100 miles in any direction.
• Takes too long to get something to eat. 1st time over an hour and still didn't get anything. 2nd time took 30 min.

“I have stayed here many times and have found it to always clean and friendly. Food is very expensive, with not much choose and the service is lousy.”

• The bed was exceptionally firm and comfortable with four great pillows that had some body to them.
• The air conditioning unit didn't work properly and slight odor when first enters the room.

“It was an exceptionally good room for the price. It was clean. The bed was heavenly to sleep on. There was a slight musty odor when first went into the room but the air circulation eliminated that. The staff was courteous and friendly. There are cute shops within walking distance.”

• Room was spotless! King-size bed a wonderful surprise!
• Very close, almost on top of very busy train tracks. Shower head needs replaced.

“A very nice hotel overall. Front desk very polite and helpful. Room service very quick, food very good. Room was spotless! The only downside, no fault of hotel, is that it is located near a very busy rail yard/hub. Didn't really bother me but light sleepers would have a problem. Also the showerhead only seemed to have 2 settings, one with good pressure but it left a large "empty circle" where there was no water or the second setting a lot of water in the center but no pressure. I was surprised upon getting to my room to find a king-size bed, sofa and desk area, complete with a minifying and microwave. A great motel located close to the interstate, front desk very helpful with any questions about the area and directions. Looking forward to being in the area and I will stay there again!”

• I did not like the fact that it was located next to the railroad.

“It would have been a nice hotel if it was not so close to the railroad. Everything seemed okay but as soon as I went to bed, the train woke me up and continued to pass through out the night. I did not sleep a wink on my first night, it was a nightmare. I was moved to a room on the front side of the hotel the next day, and I had a better experience on that side. Why would any one put a hotel by the railroad track? I want to know. ”

“There is not much to this hotel. It is definitely a 2-star hotel basically for its central location. It was nice to have free Wireless Internet though.”

• No direct access from parking to hotel for loading/unloading.

“Despite only being at the hotel overnight, with later check in and out, I was impressed with the hotel overall. I typically prefer hotels that are 3 stars or above, so I wasn't expecting much from the hotel. I was pleasantly surprised to find a workout room and high speed internet, and the bed was quite spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed my brief stay.”

• The staff went out of their way to get me a cup of good coffee in the wee hours of the morning.
• I loved the grilled salmon salad but healthy choices were slim on the menu.

“First, I was snowed in to work and had to stay in the Cumberland area. Pleasantly, it was the holiday inn, which we stayed for a formal affair the week before and just loved. One is greeted in a small but attractive lobby by staff that is attentive and kind. Upon entering the room, there is an oversized king bed, and plenty of coffee for the morning. Arian¿s restaurant was pleasant, with an open view of the train whistling through. the hostess who waited on me was attentive, but allowed me to savor the moment I sipped a glass of merlot and was pleasantly surprised with the grilled salmon salad, mandarin dressing(a bit weak but tasty), and walked it off in the work out room on my floor. Then, I slept well with the spa like heat, and in the morning, was rested by my wake up call at 4:30 am. The staff went out of their way to get me a good cup of coffee to start my snowy day. Very nice experience.”
