  • I really enjoyed walking on the beach.
  • We were put on a floor where they were remodeling, and my room need to be redone also.

“In poor repair. They are doing some work. Hammering started early (before 8 am) and continued late (after 9 pm). There was a lot of mold in the hotel. They tried to charge me additional taxes when I checked-in. They then said that it was for fees (phone and safe). ”

  • View from Ocean Side Rooms; Microwave, Ref. and coffee maker in room.
  • Internet cable outlet was inconvenient to the table. It would be nice to have a rectangular table that better served as a desk.

“Bathrooms are clean. The in room safe is a nice ammenity since a lap top will fit inside. Closets have double doors that open, so it is easy to access clothing and articles inside. There could be a better set up for using lap top computers for either business or pleasure.”

  • The location was fantastic, very convenient to popular surroundings.

  • It was on the beach.
  • They had nasty bugs that looked like roaches.

“The hotel was older, the food was alright, they had big nasty bugs that were in the hallways, the parking garage and eventually came into the room. They never seemed to vacuum the carpets and the water park was very child friendly.”

  • Excellent hotel for this price!
  • Lazy river closed a little early, but, hey, it's off season!

“Rode into town on the MS 150, so I was looking for a comfortable, clean place to relax. This place was it! The room was clean and comfortable, the view was amazing, and the lazy river was just what I needed. It's also close (within a few miles) of some very good restaurants. We went to Jimmy Buffet's place, and it was awesome.”

  • Every one was very helpful, and very friendly. The rooms were clean, and it was on a nice part of the beach. Easy to find. I would recommend it .
  • They did not have a phone book in the room, nor a TV guide.

  • Great location and nice water park.
  • Poor service. No towels for pool. Rooms not cleaned every day.

“The Sand Dunes Resort is in a great location on the beach and offers guests a wonderful water park, though it is only open on weekends later in the season. The indoor pool and outdoor pool near the beach are not heated and need maintenance, as does the lazy river out back. There is no outdoor hot tub, and of the two indoor hot tubs, only one is kept hot.”

  • It was next to the ocean.
  • Old unfriendly staff a little racial.

“The lady at the check in was pretty unfriendly. The hotel needed some renovation. My wife had called the morning of our check out to see if we can check out one hour late, the check out staff said no, in a very rude tone then hung up the phone. The lazy river was very dirty and the new water park they had just built didn't open on weekdays, so it's useless for the weekday travelers. I wouldn't go back there again.”

  • Overall this place needs renovation, spring breakers have beat this place down over the years.

“3 stars, NO WAY!. I have stayed in single star hotels that are much better and cleaner then here. If you chose to stay here, make sure you call the Hotel and insist on a recently renovated room. If they can't do this cancel and book somewhere else. ”

“(1) The old building and the new one are totally different. My first night in the old building was terrible. (2) Generally speaking, staffs of front desk were unkind. They should know that customers must be always treated as a king.”

  • It is nicely located near the ocean, and it's amenities are just for the family
  • Since it's little overcrowded, hotel services are slow. But, if you have time, no worry.

  • We absolutely loved the indoor pool and hot tubs! The ocean view was very nice.
  • We did not like that there was only one way in and out of the parking garage, very confusing and could be dangerous.

“The Sand Dunes Resort was not what my family and I expected for the price, it was much better! The parking garage was nice to keep our car out of the weather.Upon arrival check in was very fast, convenient and friendly. Our room was clean and very comfortable. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tubs as the weather did not permit us to use the outdoor pool. We would definately return in the warmer weather to enjoy the outdoor pool. We enjoyed that there was a restaraunt in the hotel and it was open very late. The location couldn't of been better for attractions and shopping. We were within minutes of everything we'd come to see. Thank you Sand Dunes Resort for giving us such a pleasurable stay in Myrtle Beach!”

  • There was no ice available in the ice machines, and the washing machines were not working.

“Once a really nice property, this hotel has been allowed to go down in quality. Lobby and rooms are in need to paint and repair. The hotel staff while not rude are not very friendly.”

  • No hot water in sinks, water problem in general. No service from concierge.

“Nice looking from the road. Is rated a 3 star hotel, but I've stayed in 2 stars that are cleaner with a friendlier staff. Had no hot water in the sinks. Called concierge for phone number of a local restaurant. Was told they'd look it up and call back. Finally resulted to calling 411 ourselves. For showers, the choice was burning hot water or freezing cold. Called front desk and was offered to switch to another room-at 10 am on the morning we were checking out. Asked for a complimentary breakfast instead and was told they didn't comp meals and there was nothing that they could do for our problems. When checking out we were told by manager that we didn't wait long enough for hot water to get to the rooms, but we waited so long that the sink was near overflowing. ”

  • The amenities were great - indoor pool, etc.
  • Rooms were old - needed work - leak in pipes had carpet wet - leaky commode - cable tv out - had to move to 3 different rooms

“Sand Dunes has lots of promise and style, but they need to upgrade the quality of their rooms. We finally got a pretty nice room on our third try. But still the cable tv was out for several hours and I kept having to take the lid off the commode because it leaked. ”

  • Pretty big room. Clean hotel.
  • Indoor pool in poor condition: mold on the ceiling, sauna did not work. ladies's showers did not work

“The hotel was ok but I would not rate it 3 stars. On the good side: the room was pretty big and the hotel was clean. On the bad side: there was no exercice room, the indoor pool was in poor condition with mold on the ceiling, the sauna was out of order and the ladies's showers did not work.”

“We were very disappointed in the standard of the hotel. I believe we had asked for a 3 star rated room. If it was a 1, I would have been surprised! It did not meet my expectations and I was not only disappointed, but uncomfortable.”

“This was not a three star hotel. Our room though directly overlooking the ocean was old and worn. Rust on stove. Mice running around dining room. Concierge were ill trained or prepared. We and another couple tried making reservations only to be kept waiting while they fumbled through it.”
