• The location of the Durham Marriott is good.
• I think parking is a tad inconvenient.

“The service is good, the public facilities are nice, and the room was clean and well-fitted. Internet was free but the server was down when I first tried so that was disappointing. But I would definitely stay there again.”

• the decor was exceptional, the staff exceptional.
• I found nothing to dislike.

“The hotel is lovely, the public spaces were beautiful. Sometimes the public spaces are no indication of the rooms, which turn out to be disappointing. In this case the rooms were equally as pleasing, the beds lush.”

• I loved the cleanliness of the room and how comfortable the beds were. Very spacious room. Fresh smell. Would stay again and again.

“The hotel is in the heart of downtown Durham, not far from various restaurants and attractions. The lobby was beautiful and I was greeted by a bellman who carried my luggage for me. Check in lasted less than 2 minutes and I was in my room very quickly. The room was very spacious, clean, and fresh. I would stay there anytime.”

• Parking too far from hotel. Hotel not located in best location in town.

“Had to walk couple of blocks in the bitter cold from lot where I had to park my car back to the hotel. Lobby and social area and resteraunts in hotel were all located too close together and in a very small space.”

• The room was very nice, bedding was exquisite and bathroom had very upscale fixtures/countertop/etc.
• The parking was inconvenient, breakfast was expensive.

“I really was happy with the price point of the hotel, it was clean, very well-furnished, friendly, very clean and comfortable. It was an upscale room with lush bedding and bath.”

• Very friendly staff and very modern rooms.
• Too far from the highway.

“Very nice modern well maintained hotel. Flat screen TV in a comfortable clean well maintained room. The staff was attentive and helped make a 2 year old laugh when he was crying. Good for all travelers. It is in the center of Durham a few miles from I-85 and I-40 but that is all I could worry about. Very nice stay.”

• Free parking, free wireless internet, but everything smelled like mold.
• Stinky, noisy, expensive, no free breakfast, banging, poor ventilation.

“I was in town for training, and my wife spent the day in the room and said they were banging all day long and woke her up every morning at 9:30-10am. I also did not get to sleep at a decent hour because of all the noisy people in the hall at night or other rooms cause the walls seem to be made of paper. The doors also would not open and close easy so there was a lot of banging when people went in and out of their rooms. I even saw one person turning the knob and hitting his door with his shoulder in order to get it open.”

• Friendly hotel staff with safe environment to stay.
• They were working on the road in front of parking lot & could not park till after 10 pm.

“Marriott Civic Center is a clean, neat and welcoming hotel to stay in for both pleasure and business. The best thing about this hotel is the extremely comfortable bedding. I slept like a baby. Hotel staff will attempt to fulfill all request of the guest.”

• Internet did not work. TV remote forced review of pay channels before getting to free network.

“The hotel is conveniently located near the Durham art and cultural centers. There is adequate parking. The lobby is awkwardly laid out. The restaurant is mediocre at best. The rooms are pleasant, clean, and sound proof. Internet access is sketchy and staff is not skilled in resolving problems with it. Quite adequate for an overnight or multi-day stay. A bit pricey for what it offers.”

• The bellmen and front desk staff were friendly, efficient, and professional. Really appreciated after a long day of traveling.
• We had a wonderful two evenings here.

“The hotel is conveniently located. The housekeeper did extra special little things to give our room the personal touch, like lining up my hair combs. Loved that! The bellman named Brian (I believe) went beyond the realm of all expectations with his welcoming smile and helpfulness.”

• The venue where I was attending a concert was accessible from the hotel without having to walk outside.
• The bartender needed some help with handling all the customers by himself in addition to serving food orders.

• The room was very inviting. I could also hook my I-Pod up to the television and enjoy my music.
• The fact that I tell the bellhop that I don't need help and he insists that he "lend a hand."

• The hotel is fairly convenient for access to Duke University.
• My room had apparently just been refurbished; because I was short some necessities.

“This hotel, located in Downtown Durham, is pretty much what you'd expect of a Marriott. It's nice, but the parking is across the street and not covered. I think my stay was anomalous, as I checked in late at night and got a room that was disability-friendly, which had apparently just been redone, since the fold-down seat in the shower still had a new tag on it. It's a pretty nice place but not in a very interesting area, as Downtown Durham is dead at night.”

• The hotel was very attractive with great amenities. It was also conveniently located. It also had a great restaurant.
• The hotel does not have adequate parking. I am disabled and would have had to park a distance from the hotel if I had not chosen valet parking.

“The Durham Marriot is a wonderful place to stay while traveling for business or pleasure. I would recommend this hotel to folks visiting the Durham area.”

• It was convenient to my needs and the staff was very helpful.
• There wasn't much to do in the vicinity of the hotel.

“This hotel is as far as I know the only one in Downtown Durham, because I required lodging close to the Downtown area, this was an obvious choice. During my stay there was ongoing construction in the hotel. This affected me little, their guest laundry facilities were temporarily closed. The extremely helpful staff offered to drive me to the closest Laundromat.”

“The hotel was really nice, not that crowded and you get free wireless internet service. The room was clean. However, the guy at the front desk gave us a double saying they were out of all king size bed guestrooms when I requested for a king size bed. Knowing the hotel was not fully booked it was near empty), it really pissed me off. Staying at a double bed guestroom with my girlfriend was not pleasant at all. The room was on the second floor right next to the fitness gym, great. I believe the guy intentionally did that to screw me. So be careful when requesting for a room. all the other staffs were friendly.”

• The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful.
• Construction woke me up.

“The hotel was clean and well-kept and the staff was great. This was the most positive hotel experience I've had with a staff. I took advantage of the free local shuttle, and all of the shuttle drivers were extremely accommodating and hospitable. There was some construction for renovations that woke me very early in the morning.”

• The TV did not work in our room. We arrived at 11PM and wanted to relax and watch TV but couldn't.
