• No free continental breakfast.

“Can not believe no breakfast is provide for the price of room. I would not stay at this hotel again. They expected me to pay 8.95 for breakfast for a 3 year old.”

“I find this hotel one of the best for the area easy access and staff always friendly very seldom do you get so many nice people working in the same place, great for late checkouts and just good people incl housekeeper very nice.”

“This is a good hotel for business travel -- convenient to the freeway, airport, rap, and duke's medical center. The facilities are in good condition and it offers free wireless.”

• Newly decorated room, nice pool area, good location.
• No rooms available for first night despite a reservation for 2 nights. Sent us to an inferior hotel for 1st night.

“Hotel was over-booked so they made us go to a sub-standard hotel for the first night even though there were rooms available at a nearby Courtyard. The hotel is nice and freshly decorated. Alarm clock has an I Pod dock feature. Pool area was great. TV had the auxiliary inputs disabled so could not plug in cameras to see vacation photos.”

• Clean, comfortable, nice linens, friendly staff.
• Can't think of anything.

“I have never had a bad experience staying at a courtyard by Marriott. They are always clean and comfortable with adequate accommodations. I like the fact that they are always similarly decorated, because you know what to expect which adds to the comfort level. The staff at the Durham courtyard was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed had nice linens. Couldn't have asked for more.”

• A real window that could be opened at night.
• The "credit card" room key.

“The room "key should have a printed winning to alert senior citizens that when placed in your wallet with real credit cards the card will be erased and you lose access to the hotel and your room. The label only says store the credit card sized room key in a "safe place." it seems likely to me that a safe place is in your wallet.”

• Free wireless internet, accessible to freeway.
• Paying for continental breakfast.

“I recently stayed at the courtyard Marriott in Durham, no. The hotel was clean and accessible. The beds were very comfortable. The staff was friendly and accommodating. The free wireless internet was a bonus. The price was reasonable. I would stay there again if need be. One downside is its distance from the night life in town; however, it is a short drive.”

• Good lobby, service, and location.
• Free wireless internet is so slow that I can not wait for.

“Very good location to go to Duke University for less than five min. All kinds of service are good enough to me excluding wireless internet. It is also so convenient for travelers to go shopping or eating nearby. One gas station is located on the corner of the hotel.”

• Hotel staff very friendly and was able to check in quickly.
• I thought there should have been more accommodations, that is hairdryer.

“The hotel and restaurant were very nice and I got a great price for it. For a being a Marriott, I thought there would have been more accommodations, but I came prepared, so I did not have a problem this time.”

• The sheets were soft and clean and the staff was super friendly.
• When you got of the interstate it was a little confusing trying to find the entrance.

• Close to Duke and some restaurants, but not much else. Clean, safe, and good staff.

“If you're travelling to the Duke campus and won't have much free time, this hotel is a good choice. It is close to the campus but not much else. There are a variety of restaurants across the street. The neighborhood seems safe and quiet. The staff was friendly and the hotel offers free internet and printing. Overall, I would go there again.”

• For a hotel of this class, the furnishings were very modern. Everything was spotlessly clean.
• I have no complaints.

“I will definitely try to stay here again when I return to Durham. It is easy driving distance from duke and other parts of Durham, and the rooms and lobby well-furnished and clean. This hotel exceeded my expectations of a 2.5 star. The styling was more contemporary (clean lines, not frilly) than I have come to expect from hotels of this class.”

• The decor was very up-to-date and with it. Loved the colors they selected and the granite counters and tables.
• The one cup coffee maker made watery coffee at best. I even tried using two at a time.

“I just love Marriott hotels. They always seem to be first class in decor and quality of materials used throughout. I love the carpeting in the corridors as well as the granite used for tables and counters. The fresh colors used in the new chairs was very pleasing. The cleaning staff did not speak English but were very polite and kind.”

• Good location.
• Breakfast buffet was $9 and nothing else in the area- too expensive.

“Two negative things- one was the staff was always on the computer provided for the guests- and I had to drive away to eat breakfast as the buffet was way too expensive.”

• Upgraded linens were very nice. Very pretty view of pool/courtyard from window.
• Entrance somewhat difficult to find.

“Convenient location off interstate and several nice restaurants within walking distance. Room was clean, linens were very nice and bed was quite comfortable. Did not use the pool or hot tub, but they appeared to be clean and the pool area/courtyard was very pretty.”

• The location was great, the beds were nice.
• This hotel was being remodeled while I was there, lobby unfinished, smell of chemicals from new paint and carpets.

• I liked the location of the hotel.
• I did not like that hotel guest have to pay for local calls.

• Rooms had been redecorated and were very clean.

“Rooms have just been redecorated; lobby and restaurant in process of redecorating. Room was very clean. Location is very convenient to Duke University which was purpose of our trip.”

• The staff was very friendly.
• The room was a disappointment.

“We were not impressed with this hotel at all. There was no shampoo or Kleenex in the room (or any other toiletries besides a bar of soap.) There was a towel draped over the smoke detector the entire 4 days we were there and the room smelled like smoke. I had added an extra day yet our key did not work the last day and the front desk called to see when we were checking out. Breakfast was way overpriced and there was no free Continental breakfast which we have come to expect from most hotels these days.”

• Rooms were not very clean and bathroom was to small and the pool want working.

• Location and price were perfect.
• Computer wired service was "very low".

“Very nice hotel but going through a renovation. They have done a good job of keeping the dust down and guess the prices are down a bit while they are doing this. Only 1 1/2 miles from the Duke Med center.”

• It's convenient to great restaurants and Duke University. I've stayed here numerous times. It's always been clean and cozy.
• The bed pillows were terrible.

• well kept clean rooms
• check in was 1 hour late, no linens for the pull out sofa

“I would likely not stay at this hotel again. The reservation was set for two days and they wanted us to move rooms after the first day. Not having the necessary linens for the room made sleeping very difficult. The late check in was a major issue, they kept putting people in ahead of us even though I called early in the day to let them know when we would arrive. Standard check in was 3:00pm, we did not gain access to our rooms until 4:15pm.”

“Overall I like the quality and service of the hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. I didn't think that you could find a hotel that did not provide a complimentary continental breakfast. But I was wrong.
I was also slightly disappointed that they did not have an indoor pool. But I guess they don't have the weather MI does.”

• Very clean and quiet. Easy to locate from major highway.
• Room keys had to be re-programmed on 3 different occasions due to staff error or defective key.

“The Marriott Courtyard is easily accessible. Despite being located right off a major highway, the atmosphere in the hotel was still quiet/serene and the staff was very cordial.”
