• Nice room, on-desk plug-ins, gave complimentary big breakfast at on-site new restaurant.
• Can't unload bags at front unless use bellhop/valet; Wireless only in lobby, wire in all rooms.

“Holiday Inn Select in Lynchburg is located downtown and not very convenient for Liberty University. Bellhop/valet would not allow to stop at front to check-in to unload own bags, but told to park and carry bags from garage and then check-in. Front desk helpful and nice. High speed internet only in lobby; wired network cable in rooms. New restaurant was very nice. Rooms were good with desk and on-desk plug-ins. Checkout smooth, loaded bags from front.”

• The staff was very helpful.
• The lobby smelled.

“The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. There was only one working elevator, while at the same time there was three family reunions booked at the hotel. The bathroom smelled and there was hair in the bathtub drain.”

• The lobby was attractive, parking good, and bed comfortable.
• Carpets in hallways crummy, only 1 elevator working, rusty fixtures in bathroom.

“It wouldn't take a lot of effort to make this hotel better. I come from Gwinnett county, GA where cigarette smoke isn't allowed in public buildings/restaurants. You should put all of the smokers on one floor.”

• Coupons for a delicious breakfast with the room.
• They did not return my credit card & billed me a 2nd time for my stay.

• Location in Old Town and covered, free parking.
• Flimsy towels, wash cloths; absence of king-size beds.

• Room lock was broken, amenities did not work.

“Awful, could not find reservation upon check in, restaurant was awful, the food was over salted. The lock to my room did not work, could be opened without a key. They did not process the incidental credit card given until I came down after having discovered my door did not lock.”

• It wasn't horrible.
• Hotel was ordinary. Staff was average. Moderate cleanliness. Over-priced.

“It was an average hotel, with an above-average price, especially considering the location Lynchburg is not new York city. Telephone use instructions printed on the phone were wrong, so we could not call the desk. Television volume was set rather loud and could not be changed with or without the remote control.”

• The bell hop was most helpful and courteous.
• I waited in line a long time to check in.

“The wait to check in, and the fact that it was on a one-way street were not good. The bedspread was kind of ratty looking for such a nice room and hotel. Everything else was very nice.”

• Location.
• Poor Service - Badly run - and they need to fix the AC!

“Bad Deal ...in multiple ways...1.... I was Billed twice for a one night stay...(over $230.00)2... I left my credit card at the front desk when checking in Saturday afternoon. I discovered it missing on Tuesday morning. The front desk did not bother to call my room to let me know. I only fond out after driving to my next destination 200 miles away. I called them and they said they had it. If I hadn't have called them I guess I would still be looking for it. They had my room number in the hotel they should have called me. They also had my home number. There is no excuse for this kind of behavior.....3...The air conditioner blew warm air. It was hot !I should have stayed at the sleep-inn and paid $50 less for a better room.”

• The quality of the hotel was good & they had room service from their restaurant.
• The location was in the center of the city and not convenient to our business or main thoroughfares.

“The hotel was decorated nicely. The bathrooms were updated and all was clean. The staff was efficient and friendly. The downstairs restaurant only served a breakfast buffet, but room service could have been ordered from the room. The location was not convenient to Liberty University which was the purpose of our trip.”

• The staff was very nice and helpful. The room was very clean with a very spacious shower.
• The AC unit was a bit loud.

“The Holiday Inn Select of Lynchburg, VA was a very comfortable hotel for our mini vacation. The staff was extremely cordial and helpful. There was plenty of safe, convenient parking as well. The food and service at breakfast were outstanding. The surrounding historic district is wonderful.”

“This hotel is over rated by at least one full star. Staff had to check to see if room was clean. Only one clean towel per room. No towels at pool. Questionable security. BEWARE, STAY AWAY!”

• Location pretty good / some staff very efficient.
• Placed in a less desirable room, some staff very inefficient.

“We were placed in a less desirable room, with a terrible view. The breakfast served was very economical, compared to most hotels, but the service was very slow on one morning and on another morning, we overheard a manager having a contentious phone conversation with an employee -- not smart! The front desk people were mixed -- one person didn't appear to be able to figure out how to manage our pre-paid bill, but another was very nice with giving directions to a college site. Very mixed experience. Note to Holiday Inn -- Center of lobby looks kind of hooky with a fountain and fake plants around it -- just not elegant like they probably intended.”

• If there was an issue it was corrected timely and efficiently.
• I had reservations for a King-smoking room and got a double-smoking room.

“The staff was amazing. I was able to call 15 miles out and they walked me basically to the door. Also, I wanted a Dr.Pepper and they were out; the hotel manager himself, went and got me one. They made me feel like I was their only guest.”

• The hotel was exceptional and the staff was outstanding in customer service.
• The ice machine on the 4th floor did not work, but this was minor.

“The hotel was ideally located, clean and well managed. The staff treated me wonderfully! I was very impressed and plan on staying there whenever I come to Lynchburg.”

• Beautiful hotel. Room was exceptionally clean and comfortable. Staff was very courteous.
• Breakfast was a bit pricey for what we got.

“We had a pleasant stay at this hotel. We just wish we could have been there long enough to try out the pool or some other extra. The hotel is beautiful and highly recommended.”

• Our room's air conditioning wasn't working, but the staff promptly remedied the situation.
• The restaurant/bar closed early on saturday night. When we returned that night, we had nothing to do.

“The hotel was nice. Although our original room's air conditioning was not working, the staff moved us immediately to a new room. It seems Lynchburg itself shuts down fairly early, so the restaurant/bar would as well, although it would have been nice to have a place for a nightcap! Overall, we had a pleasant experience.”

• Front Desk staff very friendly; rooms nice
• Staff did not keep our rooms together as requested; our party was scattered all over; food orders were wrong

“All in all, our stay was fine. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. The staff was very accommodating. Our drawback from ever doing this again would be that they did not give us the rooms we had requested and were assured of (i.e.. all together, 2 double beds vs. king size, non smoking). We understand they were undergoing a new computer set-up. They are in downtown Lynchburg vs. right in town with everything else.”

“The Continental Breakfast was a joke. Do not plan on that meeting your needs. The ice machine on my floor & the floor immediately above mine was broken all week. Other than these two issues, I was very pleased with the hotel. Nice rooms & good staff.”
