• The decor was like home very victorian and certainly one could find entertaining on the spot without travel

• The staff is very friendly and helpful.
• The carpets need to be replaced or cleaned desperately.

“Lakeview is in a beautiful setting. The facilities are showing their age, and could use an update. The one thing I noticed is that there were dishes from room service on the floor in the hall, and remained their for my entire visit. I did check in one evening and out late the next morning. I know that house keeping was on the floor during the night, so I would think that they would have picked up the dishes.”

• The location
• The bed and linens were terribly uncomfortable. Did not sleep well.

“The hotel seemed very nice until we entered our room. It was clean, but not at all what we had expected. We were both exhausted the next day because the bed was so uncomfortable and the sheets felt like sandpaper. Also, the hotel is called Lakeview Resort and Spa,however, the only time I saw the lake was on the destination there from the interstate.”

• Surrounding golf course and condos were attractive.
• Hotel is some 12 miles from Morgan town & University.

“The motel was built in the 50's but has been well maintained and updated. Room was very clean and nicely decorated. Maintenance was good-bathroom and facilities Were good - no leaks or concerns. General condition of building and grounds was exceptional. Quiet setting. Beds comfortable.”

• For golfers this would probably be a good hotel.
• Incovenient location, tiny bathroom, older feel to it.

“We typed in the address to the hotel in our GPS and it led us to the next exit to the back of a trailer park! It was not easy to find in the dark and it's not right off the highway. It has an older feel to it and it didn't feel exceptionally clean, at least not for 3.5 stars. We were not looking to golf so that didn't impress us. The bathroom was so small and the room not very big either. Our room was in a very high traffic area so noisy in the morning.”

“I have stayed here before. They were very nice in the Winter and let me check in very early. I have attended conferences there and they do a very nice job. There are a couple restaurants and one has a beautiful view of the lake.”

• Beautiful location looking out over the golf course.
• The AC unit was just barely adequate, could have been cooler.

“We very much enjoyed our stay. The room was clean and comfortable. The AC unit was only barely adequate. For sleeping we would have preferred cooler. Staff was very friendly, check in/check out was quick. The sports bar had great sandwiches and looks out over the golf course.”

• The bathroom was nice.
• The walls were paper-thin. You could hear everything outside your room.

“It is not a 3.5 star hotel. It was okay, but nothing great. The was were extremely thin. Any door that closed on the hall, you could hear it. The alarm went off in the next room and I thought it was mine; I could hear the words of the song on the radio alarm. If you are wanting to stay in Morgantown proper, don't stay here because it is too far from town. Oh, and it claims that it is a hotel with a view, couldn't be further from the truth. I did, however, have a nice view of the parking lot.”

• The staff is very accommodating and welcoming.
• The lack of life guard at the pool meant I couldn't swim alone safely.

“It is a wonderful place to visit if you are a golfer or a quiet place to rest if traveling on business. The staff is fabulous - from the front desk to the restaurant. Everyone is caring, respectful and welcoming. The fitness center is amazing! I have stayed at the Lake view Resort on several occasions and always love returning there.”

• Friendly staff. Clean newly remodeled rooms.
• Restaurant food poor. Overcharged for everything.

“This hotel has been remodeled recently and recent poor reviews should be ignored. Elevator has been installed and rooms are beautiful, clean and spacious. Staff is friendly and helpful. Restaurant has poor food and misleading prices and unfortunately there isn't much else nearby.”

• Great room, beautiful location. Very convenient to Morgantown, yet very laid back.

• I liked the lay out of the place.
• It needs a makeover, to bring it up to date.

“Overall, we had a good stay at Lakeview Resort. It could do with a makeover. I would not want to stay there when they have a football game in town. We were there in January. It was quiet. Word has it that the team stays there when it is football season.”

• The Holiday Inn Express is minutes away if your at the resort for a wedding or other function.
• Under no circumstances should you waste your money and stay there. Buyer beware!

“This was by far the worst hotel experience we have ever had on almost every single level, from room cleanliness to customer service. I would strongly suggest that you stay at the Holiday Inn Express which has large new rooms, a hot breakfast bar including omelets, waffles, coffee pastries, etc. A nice indoor pool for a little. The Lakeview Golf Resort must make most of their profits on golfing packages, otherwise I have no idea how else they could manage to stay in business.”

• Car park view.

“This was great for what we wanted - somewhere to sleep while driving from DC to Ohio. Room was comfortable enough. Nice setting (golf course looks good) but I don't think the hotel makes the most of it with the rooms - they all seem to look out on the car park. As we were just in and out we didn't use any of the hotel facilities. We had a look at Morgantown on our way through and were glad we ended up out by the lake!”

• Restaurant staff was slow and seemed overwhelmed but friendly.

• The room had new beds and sheets.
• The hallways were dingy and need renovation.

“The hotel wisely decided to renovate rooms before hallways. The room was fairly nice with a new bed and sheets. Everything was clean, though some of the other furniture could probably use replacement soon as well. It was still functional but obviously long in the tooth. The front desk was fairly polite. I have no major complaints.”

• Beautiful and peaceful setting.
• No Wi-Fi in the wing my room was in.

“This hotel was in a very nice setting with a good restaurant that took advantage of the golf course setting. A lot of the public areas had were in need of new carpeting and updated paint. The Wi-Fi did not reach the wing that my room was in and the front office was not helpful to resolve this issue. I was traveling on business so an internet connection in my room was expected and necessary instead I was stuck connecting to the internet in a public space.”

• Traffic congestion at the stop sign by the corner of the building leading to one of the golf tees.

• The landing carpet and windows were very dirty. No elevator and we were on the 3rd floor.

“They placed us in the old section. I would not give this a 3 star rating. Everyone in this large building was complaining of the lack of an elevator and having to carry heavy luggage up to the 3rd floor.”

• It is a 70's design.

“I knew what to expect because I've been there before. Went for a wedding held there, overall the experience was great. I asked for a quiet room and the clerk put me in the quietest room in the house. The place is really geared to the golfer as the hotel is in the middle of a golf course. Nearby natural areas like Cheat Lake and hiking trails at Cooper's Rock are a plus for others.”

• Beautiful, nice golf course, nice pool, gym, trails.
• No adjoining room (promised). A/c was not good.

“We got 2 rooms for my wife and me and when we got there at 2 AM, there were no adjoin rooms. Infect we were on different sides of the hotel. I then had to wait until we found out that the rooms were clean. (The night manager did not know). Then I had to accept 2 smoking rooms not connected. Second, internet access was totally non-existent. The server was either overloaded or down all day. I ended up having to leave my room to use the computer next to the check in area. The food was good, but there were huge and I mean huge roaches in the evening around the outdoor bar. Once crawled right next to my wifes drink, on the table. I told the bartender and there was not a lot of concern. The outdoor pool is nice and well staffed, water was very clean and there was a lot of room to pay, swim or sun. The golf course ate too many golf balls. But that is MY fault.”

• There was a beautiful view of the golf course, lake and mountains.
• I didn't see any elevators and had to get my luggage up 2 flights.

“This is a beautiful resort with condos and hotel rooms. It is very spread out with different wings of hotel rooms. Be prepared to carry your luggage quite a distance. I also did not see any elevators or signs for elevators, so I ended up having to get my luggage up 2 flights of stairs. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay. Nice view, relaxing rooms and excellent room service!”

• Nice location.
• Charge safe warranty fee of $1 a night.

“This hotel is a nice place but a little far out of town. It's also dated and some cosmetic upgrades don't hide the air conditioning/heating unit in rooms that sounds like a truck. Also, the hotel charges a $1.00 a night safe warranty fee and sneakily doesn't offer a printout of your charges until after you have paid.”

• Recreational facilities were wonderful - swimming pools, gym, basketball courts, etc.
• Room were small; no refrigerator or mini bar.

“It was a nice resort hotel. The facilities they provided were great. We didn't like the Sunday morning brunch hours - they ended at 10:00 a.m. Should have been offered until at least 11:00 or noon. We enjoyed our stay though. The grounds were beautiful in spite of the rain. Thank you.”

• Very dated. Smoking rooms next to non-smoking

“The site was beautiful but a little off the i-68 path and in construction area made somewhat confusing to find. Staff ok, but room 1/2 mile drives away. Entered building and was about knocked over from cigarette smell. Ice & vending machines looked like they were from the 70's. Entered room, it was fine. Very clean but dated with small TV and few channels. Room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was good but a bit pricey ($13 a person). It served purpose, but doubt I would stay there again.”

• The exercise facilities and pool were awesome.
• The exercise building was quite a walk from the hotel in a separate building.

“This is a clean and beautiful hotel with spacious resort grounds. All the staff are helpful and professional. The spa amenities are quite nice and reasonably priced. An excellent value.”

• The food was overpriced and poor quality. It was definitely not a resort quality establishment.

• Does have a bathroom to change clothes for the pool.

“It was pretty nice but was little far from Morgantown. Other than that, it was a really nice place with the golf and pools etc. clean rooms. Decent hotels staff. They have vending machines on every floor + the indoor pool and Jacuzzi. Definitely recommend it to someone not too keen on going to M'towm often.”
