- Great location - right in the middle of downtown Charleston!
- Parking was an additional $20 - $22 (for valet) per day.
“Check in was smooth, although we were surprised at the cost of parking. The room was clean and well-decorated and the staff was friendly, polite and very helpful. The location couldn't be beat - you can walk to most areas of interest. Overall, we had a great experience and would stay there again.”

- Rooms are a little small but nice.
“Great location. Rooms are a little small but nice for an older hotel. I felt the room to be very clean and pretty. Parking is right behind the hotel with a walkway into the hotel, which is a huge plus for the crowded old world town of Charleston.”

- There was nothing I didn't like about the hotel.
“All areas of the hotel were kept sparkling clean, the staff was very knowledgeable of local spots and recommended good places to eat and walk to from the hotel. Also the hotel was located very close to great shopping and restaurants (walking distance).”

- It was renovated to an upscale hotel, with all the amenities of a new hotel. The history of the hotel made it very appealing.
- It could have been a little closer to more activities.
“This is a historic yet very modern hotel located in the Historic District of Charleston. With all the amenities for the modern traveler yet with the ambiance of historic Charleston. I enjoyed coming back to my room while we stayed there.”

- The ambience was outstanding. I loved the courtyard and lobby.
- The double beds in our room were very small, but manageable. The parking was also expensive.
“What a find! The hotel was beautiful and the location was right in the middle of the historic and entertainment district. The value was outstanding, and the hotel was truly a 4 star gem. It had just the right balance between period furnishings and modern conveniences. Parking and drop off was difficult, as the hotel fronts Meeting St. Valet was the best choice and we didn't need our car during our stay. I would certainly recommend Charleston and The Mill House.”

- Paid parking, poor service, poor cleaning service.
“I used the valet service but had to consistently wait 30-45 min for service. One entire day was spent with no car due to valet misplaced keys (not communicated for over 1 1/2 hours). When I spoke with Management, no action or adjustment made (I still paid for the day's parking). Housekeeping poorly cleaned rooms, only straighten. Found prior guests trash behind nightstand (had to plug lamp in), never replace ice bucket bag, towels left on bathroom floor for multiple days. Kept trying to order room service, but had an outdated menu. Beautiful architecture, but I would not stay at this hotel again.”

- It is beautiful, quaint, historic and romantic. Perfect for couples!
- Concierge was great. But the rest of the staff was not real helpful. Rooms a little small.

“This hotel was excellent. Great downtown location convenient to The Market, Battery, Waterfront Park and tons of restaurants. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Wireless internet worked flawlessly. On the downside - the valet service was a bit slow but that was a minor issue because so much is within walking distance.”

- No fridge in room after waiting 30 minutes for the valet to retrieve my car when checked out, had to get my keys back and walk to get my car.

- Great location as could walk to everything and leave car in lot.
- Rooms for a family of 5 were a bit on the small side but still comfortable.
“We absolutely loved this hotel. It is in a great location with so much to do that we will need to go back for another vacation. The food was delicious but pricey. The service was great but not too pretentious. It is a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing with plenty of outdoor lounging areas and a very nice outdoor pool. One thing that would be better is the parking situation. There should be a flat one day rate for hotel guests. If you come and go from the parking garage you have to pay each time which can really add up.”

“Excellent location for parking the car and walking through history (though parking is expensive). Accommodation were quite satisfactory and the staff was attentive and friendly. - Oceanfront and close to attraction.
- No HBO, water in floor due to leaking air conditioning unit, stopped up bath tub, and broken door handle on balcony door.
“The location of this hotel is perfect for views and easy access to downtown Charleston. The hotel on the other hand had no HBO. The bath tub would not drain the water quickly. The balcony door handle was very loose so it wouldn't lock. The balcony door also had a gapping hole at one end which allow air in for the outside. Also the air conditioning leaked into the floor and made the carpet soaked. Also a very weak internet reception in the room.”

- The bell boys went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
- We found out on a tour that the hotel is built on a Quaker grave yard, scary!

“I was very pleased with this hotel! The entire hotel is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The staff was excellent. The girl who checked me in remembered my last name when I checked out! The Mills House provides a nice brunch which we took advantage of out on the patio by the fountain. My only complaints are that the rooms are small and our service during brunch was not so great. (pretty bad considering you get your own food buffet style) There should have been more staff waiting on the guests seated outside.”

“This is a fabulous hotel. The amenities are excellent. The rooms were beautifully appointed, as were the bathrooms. They brought me a refrigerator right away because I needed it for medication. It is right in the middle of everything in the Historic District. You can walk to many of the memorable sites and close to the Market District.”

- Location! The only hotel on Folly Island on the beach!
- The decor is EXTREMELY dated! Needs to be brought into the 21st century.
“The front desk employees were pleasant, helpful and the only adult staff we encountered. It was discouraging not to have the restaurant, the Pier, open for breakfast on the beach. We ended up leaving the hotel for coffee and breakfast every morning. The king size bed was clean and comfortable, but the decor in the rooms is UGLY! Avocado green and harvest gold was en vogue in the 1970's-not now. The entire hotel needs painting and updating. My feeling is since they were the only hotel on Folly beach, they don't think guests notice.”

- Charleston parking high, not hotels fault.

- Great location and decor. Clean rooms and convenient Sunday brunch downstairs.
- Walls too thin. Could hear neighbors in bathroom talking. Could hear anyone talking in hallway.
“This hotel has a wonderful location. The rooms were nice and clean. The walls were a little thin allowing us to hear people in the hallway and in the bathroom next door. Parking costs extra.”
