- Clean and comfortable, very convenient to locations downtown.
- No fridge in room after waiting 30 minutes for the valet to retrieve my car when checked out, had to get my keys back and walk to get my car.

- Great location as could walk to everything and leave car in lot.
- Rooms for a family of 5 were a bit on the small side but still comfortable.
“We absolutely loved this hotel. It is in a great location with so much to do that we will need to go back for another vacation. The food was delicious but pricey. The service was great but not too pretentious. It is a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing with plenty of outdoor lounging areas and a very nice outdoor pool. One thing that would be better is the parking situation. There should be a flat one day rate for hotel guests. If you come and go from the parking garage you have to pay each time which can really add up.”

- Oceanfront and close to attraction.
- No HBO, water in floor due to leaking air conditioning unit, stopped up bath tub, and broken door handle on balcony door.
“The location of this hotel is perfect for views and easy access to downtown Charleston. The hotel on the other hand had no HBO. The bath tub would not drain the water quickly. The balcony door handle was very loose so it wouldn't lock. The balcony door also had a gapping hole at one end which allow air in for the outside. Also the air conditioning leaked into the floor and made the carpet soaked. Also a very weak internet reception in the room.”

- The bell boys went above and beyond to make us feel welcome.
- We found out on a tour that the hotel is built on a Quaker grave yard, scary!

“I was very pleased with this hotel! The entire hotel is beautiful, clean, and welcoming. The staff was excellent. The girl who checked me in remembered my last name when I checked out! The Mills House provides a nice brunch which we took advantage of out on the patio by the fountain. My only complaints are that the rooms are small and our service during brunch was not so great. (pretty bad considering you get your own food buffet style) There should have been more staff waiting on the guests seated outside.”

- Location! The only hotel on Folly Island on the beach!
- The decor is EXTREMELY dated! Needs to be brought into the 21st century.
“The front desk employees were pleasant, helpful and the only adult staff we encountered. It was discouraging not to have the restaurant, the Pier, open for breakfast on the beach. We ended up leaving the hotel for coffee and breakfast every morning. The king size bed was clean and comfortable, but the decor in the rooms is UGLY! Avocado green and harvest gold was en vogue in the 1970's-not now. The entire hotel needs painting and updating. My feeling is since they were the only hotel on Folly beach, they don't think guests notice.”

- I found a roach in the bathroom.
“The hotel is situated right along the beach. The lobbies and pool were clean and the staff were extremely friendly. In general, the hotel is a nice place to relax. - I loved the history of the hotel and how well it was maintained in spite of its age.
- The clerk upgraded me to king via phone, and when I arrived, the clerk at the desk would not give me the king and made me take a double instead.
“Beautiful hotel. However, one of the desk clerk's was not friendly or helpful. Everything else about the hotel was beautiful and elegant. The rooms were small but considering the age of the hotel, that is to be expected. People, and thus beds, were a lot smaller 150 years ago.”

- The room was a bit small as was the bathroom.

“This is a beautiful historic hotel that truly represent 'Old Charleston' yet with modern upgrades. A city parking garage is connected to the hotel, so you can walk from the garage directly to the hotel. City market is two blocks away. You can't go wrong with this hotel. This was my second stay here and we look forward to many more! This historic hotel is so close to being a 5 star property!”

- The hotel public areas were elegant and truly reflected Charleston and its romance.
- Rooms could be a little larger but were still nice!

- Small bathroom. Long wait for car to be returned by valet service on check out day.
“Have traveled to Charleston a number of times, but this was my first stay at mills house. Must say, I was pleasantly surprised. Well maintained and beautifully decorated. Great location too. Will stay here again.”

- I liked everything about this hotel.
- I did not like the bathroom but this is expected of older buildings. No problem.
“This is a hotel with great location within Downtown Charleston. It is very comfortable and beautiful. It is for sure one of the best in the category.”

- The location was incredible right on the beach with a beach view.
- I found the hotel run down and in need of a facelift.
“We loved the fact that this hotel was right on the beach and that every room had a beach front view!! This hotel could be a 4 star if they would give it a huge facelift; the rooms were dirty and smelled like smoke! Luckily the weather was beautiful and we spent the entire time at the beach so we had a really good time despite the hotel And again you cannot beat the location.”

- Great location and upscale atmosphere.
- Difficult to park and food was spotty.
“We were pleasantly surprised at the old world charm and decor. It's great to stay at a property that still believes in customer service. Love the location, near many restaurants and shopping. Parking is a challenge. Put they do have valet available. I would highly recommend and stay on my next visit.”

- Very old but well maintained, in historic Charleston.
- Bathrooms are very small but adequate.
“It has a fabulous fountain in the courtyard with tables to sit at and have a drink or eat dinner. They also had indoor tables that looked out onto the courtyard. The room was decorated very tastefully with upscale fabric. We were visiting the College of Charleston so it was not exactly walking distance but we had a rental car so that was not a problem.”

- Excellent location. Valet parking prompt and efficient. Very helpful staff.
- Restaurant was slow and overpriced. $15 BBQ shrimp appetizer consisted of 4 small shrimp and 3 potato chips.
