“Beautiful rooms great area on second floor for relaxing with pool and deck area. Another great public space on first floor with chairs and fountain we were there with family for wedding so gathering spots were appreciated walking distance to everything downtown easy access to public parking.”

• Historic and in a great part of town. The staff was wonderful.
• We were traveling with our two children. The beds were double beds and too small for the four of us so we had to get a roll away bed for comfort.

• The location was great.
• We had a family with a child that was screaming and crying all the time. I think families should be on one floor and couples on another.

• It smelled historical and the rooms were small.

“Parking is an issue and valet was $22.00. The hotel had a smell about it and the rooms were small and the bed only semi comfortable. While the history of this building is such that the idea of it is appealing, I would probably return after staying in this hotel once. Not much of a selection for dining or entertainment or other amenities.”

• Our room was way too small. Coffee packet had been opened, creamer removed. Tiny bathroom, broken toilet seat and peeling wallpaper. No closet light.

“For the price, very disappointed. The entry was nice, staff ok, location awesome, but we know we overpaid for mediocrity. The room was so small and the bathroom was not made for accommodating a woman. There was no vanity! Had no storage for toiletries! Had to keep stuff on desk next to TV. My 5 yr. old sat on toilet and fell right in because the seat was broken. The closet was tiny and had no light or a safe. There was no fridge. The complimentary coffee packets had been opened and creamer removed. I guess the maids aren't coffee drinkers. We came last summer and stayed at the Anson borough, and had a better (spacious!) room with view. We love Charleston and will be back, just not staying here!”

• This hotel was so beautiful! The staff was so friendly and professional.
• No smoking in the rooms.

“This was my birthday vacation. It is the most fabulous vacation I have every had! The bedroom was drop-dead gorgeous, the bathroom was very clean. The dining room, patio and deck were not over-crowded and were so relaxing. I have already recommended everyone I know to visit this hotel!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Mills House. The service was great, the food was good. I envisioned staying there with that special someone whenever he comes along - it was be really nice and romantic. I loved the location, close proximity to quite a bit to see and do.”

• Nothing really I would have to stretch the truth to find something I didn't like.

• This hotel is right on the beach-great beach access if you're on the 1st floor! In addition, this hotel has a great staff- very courteous & helpful.
• If you stay on the 1st floor, the air conditioner leaks & drips water from the top floors down on the patio.

“This hotel overall is great for beach lovers! It is oceanfront with direct beach access, especially if you're on the 1st floor. Rooms are very comfortable. Front desk staff & housekeeping are very courteous & helpful. Only issue is that the air conditioner leaks/drips water from the top floors down on the patios on the 1st floor so its best to stay on top floors.”

• Great location - right in the middle of downtown Charleston!
• Parking was an additional $20 - $22 (for valet) per day.

“Check in was smooth, although we were surprised at the cost of parking. The room was clean and well-decorated and the staff was friendly, polite and very helpful. The location couldn't be beat - you can walk to most areas of interest. Overall, we had a great experience and would stay there again.”

• It was renovated to an upscale hotel, with all the amenities of a new hotel. The history of the hotel made it very appealing.
• It could have been a little closer to more activities.

“This is a historic yet very modern hotel located in the Historic District of Charleston. With all the amenities for the modern traveler yet with the ambiance of historic Charleston. I enjoyed coming back to my room while we stayed there.”

• The ambience was outstanding. I loved the courtyard and lobby.
• The double beds in our room were very small, but manageable. The parking was also expensive.

“What a find! The hotel was beautiful and the location was right in the middle of the historic and entertainment district. The value was outstanding, and the hotel was truly a 4 star gem. It had just the right balance between period furnishings and modern conveniences. Parking and drop off was difficult, as the hotel fronts Meeting St. Valet was the best choice and we didn't need our car during our stay. I would certainly recommend Charleston and The Mill House.”

• Paid parking, poor service, poor cleaning service.

“I used the valet service but had to consistently wait 30-45 min for service. One entire day was spent with no car due to valet misplaced keys (not communicated for over 1 1/2 hours). When I spoke with Management, no action or adjustment made (I still paid for the day's parking). Housekeeping poorly cleaned rooms, only straighten. Found prior guests trash behind nightstand (had to plug lamp in), never replace ice bucket bag, towels left on bathroom floor for multiple days. Kept trying to order room service, but had an outdated menu. Beautiful architecture, but I would not stay at this hotel again.”

• It is beautiful, quaint, historic and romantic. Perfect for couples!
• Concierge was great. But the rest of the staff was not real helpful. Rooms a little small.

“This hotel was excellent. Great downtown location convenient to The Market, Battery, Waterfront Park and tons of restaurants. Very friendly staff. Room was clean and comfortable. Wireless internet worked flawlessly. On the downside - the valet service was a bit slow but that was a minor issue because so much is within walking distance.”

• Great location as could walk to everything and leave car in lot.
• Rooms for a family of 5 were a bit on the small side but still comfortable.

“We absolutely loved this hotel. It is in a great location with so much to do that we will need to go back for another vacation. The food was delicious but pricey. The service was great but not too pretentious. It is a great place to relax after a long day of sightseeing with plenty of outdoor lounging areas and a very nice outdoor pool. One thing that would be better is the parking situation. There should be a flat one day rate for hotel guests. If you come and go from the parking garage you have to pay each time which can really add up.”
