“Very convenient to local downtown attractions including restaurants and shopping. Only complaint was the fact they were undergoing renovations.” Jan 19, 2007 by

“Well located; fancy entrance but inconvenient access to elevator; unappealing brunch and way too expensive; room clean but underwhelming.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Jan 8, 2007 by

“This is an older hotel with an excellent location and free parking. I liked the staff. It is currently under renovation (November 2006) and should be better when that is completed. When I visited, it was a bit weird due to exposed pipes and construction in the hallway ceilings.” Dec 17, 2006 by
Lloyd from Myrtle Beach, SC
“Nice property located in Charleston historic district. Close to restaurants and attractions perfect location at a perfect price.” Oct 1, 2006 by
Paula from Vonore, TN
“Very convenient to everything downtown. Friendly, helpful staff. Good parking. Punch and snacks served every afternoon at "managers welcome party". I would recommend it” Sep 21, 2006 by
Donald from Ocala, FL
“All in all it worked for us and they told us they are going to be doing a million dollar renovation very soon. That would be a big help since there were not refrigerators in all the rooms, and they needed a few other items fixed. But that will all come together when they do their renovation, they said.” Sep 18, 2006 by
Lynda from Matthews, NC
“Located conveniently to all the attractions of downtown Charleston, this stately hotel offers charm and efficiency. It is great to be within walking distance to shops & pubs. Parking was ample and the staff was very helpful!” Sep 8, 2006 by
Kim from Rock Hill, SC
“I had a very pleasant stay and really enjoyed being in the middle of the historic district, the market and restaurants. We didn't use our car at all. The pool, coffee service, staff and cleanliness were favorites. I believe they had bigger rooms and beds but they put us in a pretty small one. It was cozy and clean but a little cramped with a 3-year old under foot.” Aug 14, 2006 by
Martin from Gaithersburg, MD
“Nice location and overall accommodations! Excellent workout facility at Ecco-Fitness around the corner from the hotel. Free parking. Initially, had me booked with only 1 king bed when I called in advance to confirm. I stated that I required 2 beds. Phone receptionist tried to charge me $10 additional for second bed. When I asked to speak to the manager she finally changed me to a NS room with 2 beds without an additional charge. Minor hassle, but they eventually got it correct.” Jul 28, 2006 by
Monica from Lady Lake, FL
“Convenient location, friendly staff.” May 12, 2006 by
Carolyn from Anderson, SC
“A clean, moderately priced hotel located in an excellent location in historic Downtown Charleston. Decor a bit dark for my task, but overall its traditional and well-maintained. Staff is friendly. A small, but inviting bar is in the lobby. Includes parking w/ accommodations very key in Charleston. W/in easy walking distance of the many historic sites.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.Mar 26, 2006 by

“The hotel had a great location. The room we stayed in was bare bones with a vie of a brick wall. It was clean.” 0 of 1 people found this review helpful.Feb 19, 2006 by
Mark from Wilmington, NC
“Friendly and excellent location. I think they need a little updating in the halls (carpet and paint) and the bath area's wallpaper tearing and dirty and the tubs needed replacing. Lobby and public areas were great.” Feb 13, 2006 by
Cb from Darlington, SC
“Enjoyed the stay. staff is friendly and helpful.” Jan 8, 2006 by
Justin from Central, SC
“This hotel was in a great location, but that is where much of the positives end. The staff was semi-friendly and the rooms were alright. They were nothing special and the shower and bathroom needed remodeled because caulk was coming out of the shower all over. Also, the wall was in need of new wallpaper or paint” Jan 7, 2006 by
Jack from Concord, NC
“The hotel was very darkly lit, old looking inside, left my pillow there and took 5 people to finally get it before I left town, couldn't find a place to park that night as all the places were filled.” Oct 6, 2005 by
Thomas from Washington, DC
“This hotel, though aging, remains excellent in its service quality and has taken steps to renovate and modernize. The staff was friendly and helpful. This level of service is not always. I would recommend the King Charles Inn to any who want to stay in Downtown Charleston for an affordable price.” Aug 25, 2005 by
Mary from Newtown, PA
“rooms very small; free parking adjacent to hotel was very limited (during my 3 night stay I never got a spot and had to park acroos the street(for free)and walk acrooss the street back in through the garage to get the only elevator that went up to my floor; the pool although it faced the streetwas very nice- the spray fountain masked the sounds of traffic;do not book this hotel if stairs are an issue for you-to get any where you needed to go up or down a few steps!” May 11, 2005 by
Patricia from Cornelius, NC
“Lovely decor, excellent location, clean, well-appointed rooms, polite and accommodating staff. Convenient off-street parking. Will definitely stay there again!” Feb 3, 2005 by
Meg from Kingsport, TN
“A very reasonably priced, low-frills but clean, hotel located right in the middle of Charleston's historic district.” Hotel Representatives:
