“The hotel was not clean. Just before giving me a room that smelled of strong chemicals (and all the way down the hallway).” Jun 4, 2008 by
Helen from Turnersville, NJ
“My son was graduating from college in Pittsburgh. The hotel was in walking distance of Commencement. It was extremely comfortable and dinner was delicious.” May 15, 2008 by
Lowell from Alexandria, VA
“The A/C in my room was broken. They sent a maintenance man to fix it, he could not fix it. They told me that they did not have another room available for me. So I was stuck in a room that I couldn't breath in because it smelled like an ashtray and was 85 degrees the entire weekend I thought it was handled poorly I asked to speak with a manager and was told there was not one available and he be in contact with me but that was the last I heard about it. This is the first bad experience I have had. I just felt like I was treated like a 2nd class citizen.” May 7, 2008 by
Ken from Brockport, NY
“Convenient to everything and friendly staff. Guests should be reminded that they will be ask to leave if they disturb. The view of Mellon arena was great and the city looks great all light up at night.” May 7, 2008 by
Lynda from Boswell, PA
“Hotel was nice. Nothing to write home about. Just ok. Paying for parking when the hotel does not have parking is enough for me not to stay there again. Everything was ok except for the parking issue.” May 7, 2008 by
Chevon from Upper Darby, PA
“The staff at the Doubletree City Center in Pittsburgh, were extremely friendly and helpful. Made my stay very comfortable and enjoyable. At times I didn't want to leave my room.” May 6, 2008 by
Laura from Erie, PA
“This hotel over-all was a great stay for our family trip. It offered shuttles to most places in Downtown so we didnt have to drive and search for parking. It was easy to find. The staff was very pleasant and friendly. When complained about the heat/air problems at check-out, the hotel staff was eager to compensate and fix the problem.” May 5, 2008 by
Mike G. from Cherry Hill, NJ
“Clean & neat with free wireless in the room. A very friendly and courteous staff. Decent looking restaurant & lounge plus a convenience store in the hotel.” May 3, 2008 by
Barbara from Poland, OH
“Hotel common areas very attractive, room decor ok, but bed/mattress was not very comfortable. Bathroom bathtub needs replaced. Shower rod was normal not the bowed type and bathroom lighting was too dim. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Hotel restaurant was rated 4 stars but menu was quite limited so we did not eat there. Would be nice to have a cafe' or some other food option inside the hotel beside the attached 7 11 shop.” May 3, 2008 by
Elaine from Hanover, PA
“There was a horrible odor in the hallway that was absolutely nauseating everytime we walked by it to get to our room. (There was a sign on one of the doors that said trash. I assume that's where the odor was coming from.) The floor we were on was empty, and they put a woman right next door to us who coughed constantly and kept us awake all night long. I was actually tempted to knock on her door and tell her to go to the ER for a breathing treatment. I complained to the front desk and all they said was sorry about that. I would not stay at this hotel again. Also, the bed was very uncomfortable and parking costs a fortune. There is nowhere to park without it costing a ridiculous amount of money. ($40.00 for two days) Not a good review for a Hilton Hotel.” May 1, 2008 by
Sheila from Bay Village, OH
“Very nice rooms and very friendly staff/ close to the transit system.” Apr 30, 2008 by
Michelle from Florence, KY
“The room was very spacious and clean. Everything seemed to be in working order. The only thing I did not appreciate was the front desk staff not being upfront about the cost of parking. They just tell you take a right into their garage and be sure to stop by and get your ticket validated.” Apr 29, 2008 by
Jason from Dallas, TX
“The Doubletree in downtown Pittsburgh is a very nice hotel in a great location, walking distance to the business and cultural districts with easy access to the major freeways. It's also across the street from Steel Plaza subway station. Parking, however, was $20/day for garage valet, and this exceeded the cost of my rental car. My only significant complaint about the accommodations is that I was at first placed in smoking room despite having requested non-smoking weeks ago. However the 2nd day of my stay they moved me without incident. Room service was fast, but I felt the on-site restaurant was over-priced. Other amenities worth mentioning include the wonderful full-service gym, which featured an indoor swimming pool. I also appreciated the impressively fast high-speed internet in my room. I was able to print from my room to the hotel printer, which is great for a business traveler. I would recommend this hotel to anyone, but would advise against bringing a car. If you have a laptop to look up bus routes, public transportation/walking will save you a lot of money.” Apr 25, 2008 by
Robb from Yonkers, NY
“Excellent hotel quality. Very friendly staff. Every one was extra helpful. This hotel was 1 block away from the Mellon Arena and a short walk from the Downtown Pittsburgh area. It was an excellent choice in hotel and exceeded my expectations on every level.” Apr 23, 2008 by
Mark from Shelby, OH
“This hotel experience was one of the best that I have had in a long time. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone.” Apr 3, 2008 by
Constance from New York, NY
“Absolutely exceeded my expectations on every level. Could not have been more pleased with my experience. Most definitely two thumbs up!” Apr 2, 2008 by
Kristy from Uniontown, OH
“Staff was incredibly helpful and friendly. Great location ~ easy to walk to lots of locations as well as a subway station across the street.” Apr 2, 2008 by
Malikah from Voorhees, NJ
“Very nice clean hotel and a great friendly staff. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends and family who are staying in Pittsburgh.” Mar 27, 2008 by
Dan from Charleston, WV
“My family visited this hotel for a one day stay while visiting the Carnegie Science Center. After having some trouble figuring out how to get into the parking garage I was surprised when the attendant told me it was valet-only. Parking was $18/night which is steep. Aside from that, the hotel was extremely nice. The staff was friendly except for the fitness club desk attendant who was a little stuffy about our use of the pool.” Feb 23, 2008 by
Karlyn from New York, NY
“Friendly staff, beautiful decor. I particularly loved the Neutrogena bathroom products!” Feb 20, 2008 by
Llew from Summersville, WV
“Hotel was fairly nice overall, and convenient to Downtown Pittsburgh, however the rooms were not sound proof at all. Both nights of my stay I was awakened by other guests returning to room. The second night the other guests decided to throw a party with plenty of people and singing with guitars. It sounded like it might have been fun if I had not been trying to sleep.” Feb 19, 2008 by
Jackie from New Middletown, OH
“Very nice hotel. Extremely friendly staff. I didn't like paying the 18.00 parking fee, but do realize we stayed in the city. Would recommend this hotel to friends.” Feb 18, 2008 by
David from Pittsburgh, PA
“We live in South Hills of Pittsburgh, however we wanted to stay downtown and enjoy what our city has to offer. This hotel was the best!” Feb 13, 2008 by
Chris from Meadville, PA
“Great place to stay!” Feb 12, 2008 by
Tim from Stratford, ON CA
“The hotel had a good location but you had to pay to park. The rooms could use a little updating. Overall it was a good experience.” Feb 6, 2008 by
Kelly from North Canton, OH
“The staff was great - very friendly and very helpful. We were traveling to look at a college with my son. It was a good experience for all of us.” Jan 30, 2008 by
Regina from Lockport, NY
“Overall it was lovely and I would book another room without a second thought.” Jan 26, 2008 by
John from Uniontown, PA
“I would highly recommend this hotel. It is comfortable and near the Downtown area. It was clean and had a shuttle available until 10:30. This hotel welcomes you with warm cookies upon registering. This seemed to be a nice way of making you feel at home.” Jan 22, 2008 by
Jon from Valencia, PA
“Not too bad, but the forced valet service really pissed me off. For $20, I think I can walk 30 yards to and from my car.” Jan 22, 2008 by
Laura :. from North Fort Myers, FL
“The Doubletree is in a great location, the cookies at check in are always yummy and the room was nice except that the bathroom is very small. It would not have been good for more than one person needing to get ready at the same time and no exhaust fan to keep the mirror from fogging up. The staff was very nice and helpful too. The parking costs were very high ($20 weekdays, $18 weekends) and the walkway from the garage to the hotel could be cleaned up, work finished there to provide a better feeling when entering the hotel as the hotel is much nicer than what it appears walking in. The workout facility and pool was top notch! My biggest complaint was the traffic noise on both the 10th and 15th floors. I'd recommend staying up as high as possible.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Katie from Chester, WV
“The hotel was very nice and the staff was very helpful and friendly.” Jan 4, 2008 by
Prateek from Anchorage, KY
“Other than parking, this is an excellently located hotel that we used for celebrating New Year's Eve in Pittsburgh. There are public parking lots within 1-2 blocks that charge $5 per night during weekends and $14 during weekdays.” Jan 1, 2008 by
Barb from Jackson, TN
“The staff quickly and pleasantly repaired my flat tire as soon as it was discovered, immediately improving my mood after driving for 2 days. The bathroom lacks sufficient space for toiletries, and the layout of the room is not efficient. The hotel is easily accessible to Downtown businesses and interstates. The parking garage attendants were very pleasant and quick in getting car when I traveled in and out.” Dec 13, 2007 by
Marie from Buffalo, NY
“The location was perfect for travel by auto because of the close proximity to highways and main thoroughfares. Also its Downtown location allowed one to walk to many attractions (shops, strip district, theatre). I have definitely paid more for fewer features than this hotel offered. Would look forward to a stay at Doubletree Inn again.” Dec 12, 2007 by
Jackie from Canfield, OH
“Three star appropriate. Convenient location Downtown Pittsburgh.” Dec 11, 2007 by
Jason from Levittown, PA
“My entire experience was wonderful! The view from my room was amazing!” Nov 21, 2007 by
Jeanette from Poughkeepsie, NY
“Staff/concierge very friendly and helpful. Room was small, but fairly comfortable for no more than two people. Only one suitcase rack. Very nice health/fitness area. Beds very soft. A good or bad feature dependent on back health. We assumed parking was included, and were not told that it was not. Parking for two days and two cars was almost $100. So we will not be staying at the Doubletree again.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Kathy from Lavale, MD
“Good location. Very small bathroom. Small to average room with queen size bed.” Oct 18, 2007 by
Gretchen from Wilmington, NC
“The doubletree in downtown Pittsburgh is a great place to stay if you're there fore business or exploring the beautiful city. Everything in the hotel is new including the common spaces and rooms. The new bedding makes for an exceptional night's sleep. However, it's difficult to leave. The view from the room was that of the cityscape including architecturally interesting rooflines. The staff was friendly and maybe a bit too relaxed. I noticed a couple of staff lounging about the hotel on the countertop in the lobby and elsewhere not a very professional welcome.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Betsy from Canton, OH
“They took out an extra $50 in case I wanted to charge anything. The room was paid in full before I arrived. I called them about the $50 and they said it should be back in my account within two days. I'm still waiting.” Sep 18, 2007 by
Ed from Windham, ME
“My stay was great except for the restaurant. I couldn't eat anything on the very short selection that was offered. I asked for a plain salad with some vegetables and I was told it wasn't on the menu so I couldn't have it. I ate ALL my meals out for three days. One of the bellman was gracious enough to take me to two different restaurants for breakfast and pick me up when I was finished. My other meals were eaten elsewhere. My plan was to have dinner with my friends from Pittsburg in the hotel, however after seeing the menu and getting bad service, we of course ate elsewhere. Everything else in this hotel was great--front desk, maids, bellman, all very friendly and helpful at all times. I am a chef, so getting the restaurant treatment was not acceptable.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Sarah from Marietta, OH
“The hotel was nice. Easy to get to from interstate. Pool was not as clean as could have been and the water was cold. The room was larger than most I have stayed in and was my father was able to move his scooter around the room without much trouble. The bathroom didn't have any handrails at the toilet or the shower and the toilet was very close to the wall. Bed was comfortable and room was nice, only flaw was a couple of stains on the carpet. Would love to stay there again!” Sep 12, 2007 by
Mike from Lexington, VA
“The hotel is very clean and well kept, and within reasonable walking distance of most downtown attractions. The rooms are well furnished and comfortable. The only complaint is that the side entrance, which is the first you come to when walking from downtown, is locked after 11pm and there is no key swipe, requiring you to walk around the side of the building. This is nitpicking, however, and overall, my experience was very pleasant and I would gladly stay there again.” Sep 7, 2007 by
Dionne from Fort Wayne, IN
“This was one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in. The place was immaculately clean, the staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were gorgeous.” Sep 5, 2007 by
Harry from Cortland, OH
“A good value.” Aug 31, 2007 by
Robert from Lancaster, NY
“In general very good. Good transportation service to downtown locations.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Em from Bronxville, NY
“Pleasant staff, comfortable and fresh surroundings and delicious chocolate chip cookies make this hotel a welcome respite after a long and tiresome drive to Pittsburgh.” Aug 29, 2007 by
Matthew from Beaver Falls, PA
“Great location in the city, transportation easy to access and friendly staff in the lounge.” Aug 22, 2007 by
Reed from Lock Haven, PA
“Very good overall experience. I would stay at this hotel again.” Jul 27, 2007 by
Yvonne from Guelph, ON CA
“Love this hotel! 1st class all the way from the very comfortable bed with duvet and lots of pillows, to the warm cookie they give you at check-in. Our room had a Wolfgang puck coffee maker and Neutrogena products in the bathroom, what a great idea. We were in Pittsburg for 1 nights stay to take in a Pirate's game, and this hotel even had a complimentary shuttle service to the game. The front desk staff was a bit on the snooty side, but overall, this hotel was the best that we've stayed at for the longest time!” Hotel Representatives:
