“Expected Marriott signature amenities room, etc., friendly staff and good location. The shuttle cost $6/day unlimited runs until 11PM, good for getting to the heart of old town Charleston.”

- The front desk staff was especially helpful with restaurant suggestions and reservations.
- My room was actually warm even though it said 65. Another traveler complained of the same thing.
“Wonderful decor. Newly renovated. Absolutely beautiful. Hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Even called and made a last minute reservation for our dinner at a fabulous restaurant. Definitely would stay here again.”

- Hotel Shuttle Service was more expensive to take Downtown than the cab.
“Maid mistakenly took personal Ralph Lauren Beach towel from room, and though she apologized, did not return it from the laundry. Otherwise Staff was extremely friendly and helpful.”

- Great location and nice lunge, pool.
- Incompetent desk clerk had us checked out 1 day early.
“Except for the blip of being told we were checking out on Monday, (when in fact it was Tuesday!) this was a very enjoyable experience. Hotel is 8-10 min from Downtown and 2 min from the baseball stadium. Pool area is nice and exercise room is great.”

- Business area was freezing and computers very slow. Well stocked with paper was nice.

- Perfect Marriott service in a beautiful location.
- Hot Tea is still a novelty in the restaurants.

- The lobby area was beautiful.
- The maid barged into our room at 8:00 am as we were sleeping. She did it again at 9:20. We were not checked out. We complained but nothing was done.
“The lobby and public areas are beautiful. The room was nice but the view of the roof lacked beauty. The bathroom was tiny. The leisure experience was ruined by the maid coming into our room twice in the morning before checkout time, once while we were sleeping and the second time I was in the shower. The staff was unaccommodating. Our stay at this hotel was disappointing.”

- Great location, very pretty hotel, food & bar nice.
- Did not have any shampoo in the rooms and they did not offer any type of breakfast items. Had to pay for everything.
“I really liked the hotel. The location was great and people were really nice. There were 2 things that I did not like. They are: they charged us to take the shuttle into town and there was not any type of complimentary coffee or breakfast items. We had to purchase coffee. Overall it was really nice.”

- Restaurant staff seemed inconvenienced by us when we needed them and for help with our child.
“Beautiful, clean, great location-close to highway and easy to get around. Restaurant on-site was mediocre. A small Starbucks inside is nice, but only serves a handful of drinks. While we were there 2 different conventions were taking place so there were times when the terrace and outside areas were closed off to the public.”

- Nice rooftop bar and good facilities. Hotel itself is a little dated.
- Location was not convenient to the attractions in Charleston.
“However, the hotel is showing its age despite recent refurbishing. I don't think it quite lives up to its 4-star rating because of that. The best feature was the rooftop bar; very comfortable and relaxing after a day of sightseeing. The least appealing feature was that it was not easy walking distance to the historic downtown or the Cooper River waterfront. However, it is very close to the Citadel and it is an easy drive to the Ashley River plantations.”

- It was easy to find, and it was a convenient 5 minute drive into the heart of historic Charleston.
- We had the unfortunate luck to be placed beside a loud, drunk woman who later had to be removed by security.

- Very clean and great decorating - excellent staff - good location.
- Did not have an indoor pool - only had outdoor non-heated pool and closed.
“Very nice class hotel - great room and beds excellent - refrigerator and microwave in room - good view of river - at hotel during a expo (we did not attend expo) and the hotel was about 85% full - still had plenty of room and parking and front desk staff is excellent (they helped since my daughter's suitcase was lost by "United" in Chicago - won't use United again period) - would definitely stay here again - easy to Downtown and plantations and great place - will stay again when we come back.”

- I have stayed at the Marriott Marquis in NYC. The Charleston Marriott is nicer!
- I could not stay longer!
“The appearance of the hotel was impeccable! The lobby and entrance ways were open with lots of light. The decor was quite chic and very inviting. The room decor was absolutely beautiful with the bright colors and use of mirrors. The bathroom was elegant and had a double shower head. Our room had a terrific view of Charleston and The Ashley River.”

- The staff was very friendly and helpful with excellent dining suggestions.
- There was so much condensation on the windows that there were puddles of water on the floor.
“The hotel was clean and attractive. The staff, from the receptionist to the concierge, was friendly and very helpful. The location was convenient to historic Charleston and the other places that we wanted to visit. We did not eat in the hotel dining area but the smells wafting into the lobby made it hard to resist. Parking was more then adequate with many entrances into the hotel. I would recommend the Marriot Charleston to my friends and family.”

- Our first room reeked of cigarette smoke, but the staff quickly found us another room.

- The decor & ambience of the rooms were charming.
- The rooms were much smaller than other Marriott hotels we have stayed in. Similar to other hotels in the area.
“Our stay at this hotel was very comfortable. Our room was kept very clean & the staff was very friendly. Dining facilities were excellent. View of the police station unsightly, but comforting for security reasons. The hotel was close enough to the historic district if you had a car and convenient to highways.”

- A/c heat unit was defective. Made a loud bang waking me ever hour or so.

- The decor was beautiful and the hotel itself was very clean.
- The concierge seemed to have little knowledge of things to do.
“This seemed like a very new construction. We were on the 11th floor in a corner room with an excellent view of the river. The hotel itself was exceptionally clean and the decor was gorgeous. The staff was very friendly and efficient for the most part except for the concierge who, seemed friendly, but didn't have much knowledge of things to do. The location was good. It took only 5 10 minutes to drive Downtown. Overall we had a very good experience.”

- The hotel was great and the staff exceeded expectations. Plus the food was fantastic.
- Couldn't stay longer.

- Good value for price, friendly staff, nice room, and nice facilities.
- No breakfast.
“This Marriott, though an older facility, has been nicely updated and is very user friendly. The hotel boasts a quality exercise room convenient for business or leisure travelers. The spacious courtyard attracts weary Charleston sightseers to sit around the glowing fire pits for a relaxing evening. No need to drive to the nearest star bucks it's just steps away in the main lobby of the hotel.”

- A very nice hotel.
- Hotel restaurant high price for breakfast. Should offer option of light breakfast.

- Clean, safe, friendly staff, hotel transportation to historic district.
- Our room was by noisy elevator.
“This hotel looked very modern. It was clean and the staff was friendly. The food in the restaurant was excellent. The hotel provided transportation to the historic district for a small fee. I would definitely stay here again.”

- The court yard, the third floor bar it all was beautiful.
- Breakfast, was way to expansive they charged me for coffee and juice even though it was included on the menu.
