Mel from Roanoke, VA
“I grew up in Roanoke so I am a little familiar with the local hotels. The Wyndham is one of my favorites. It is near the mall, airport, and lots of dining choices. The staff is great there which keeps me returning. There is no cost to park and it is a safe place.” Dec 3, 2007 by
Ken from Mooresville, NC
“Furniture was beat up, wallpaper scared, mirror badly corroded, closest room to noisy area (drink & ice machine); lower level floor; curtain would not properly cover sliding doors; would not give same amenities as other guest. Basically the last 2-3 times I've stayed there using, I have felt they have put me in sub-standard rooms and will not honor the free-internet even though I am a "Request" member.” Dec 1, 2007 by
Cynthia from New Milford, CT
“Rooms need renovation rugs dirty, room tired. Hotel under renovation in area where we stayed many areas boarded off. Noisy near airport, birds (swarms) in pine trees outside hotel and garbage trucks in early am outside window.” Nov 29, 2007 by
S from Chicago, IL
“Would not go back again. Supposedly under renovation but all areas are just old. Does not live up to the Wyndham name.” Nov 28, 2007 by
Lois from Middletown, PA
“We have previously stayed in Roanoke in other facility. Our stay at the Wyndham was close to our Roanoke family, easy to find, and very clean and comfortable!” Nov 27, 2007 by
Brett from Clemson, SC
“The place is dirty it needs paint badly, even the bathrooms in the rooms have mold @ the base of the tub wall paper coming off in rooms and halls. The staff needed to shave.” Nov 9, 2007 by
Joy from Newark, DE
“Hotel will be going through some renovations soon. It will become a Sheraton. Will be a lot nicer - but may cause some inconvenience for travelers.” Nov 7, 2007 by
Ava from Bristol, VA
“The hotel was clean and very close to the airport. I liked the common areas. When we checked in the fireplaces were lit, and it made the place feel warm and inviting. It is an older hotel, but I would stay here again. It was a great hotel for the money.” Nov 1, 2007 by
James from Rio Ranch, NM
“Scenery great, staff not actively friendly but not unfriendly. No "do not disturb" signs available. Breakfast a relaxing setting. Breakfast very pricey. Would go back but not my favorite motel in Roanoke.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Cathy from Middletown, DE
“Hotel was a pleasure. Additional charge at checkout on 10/12 is still a mystery. Please see previous evaluation for details.” Oct 30, 2007 by
Cathy from Middletown, DE
“The stay on 10/6 was great and checkout was a breeze. Upon checkout on 10/12 the clerk insisted upon an additional $4.48. I mentioned that we were at the Wyndham earlier in the week and this did not happen. She was not impressed and insisted on the additional payment.” Oct 25, 2007 by
Nicholas from Richmond, VA
“Enjoyed the location, staff, ambience and general air. Need to be careful not to let rooms get much sloppier. Elevators were a major drawback; from a very nice walk in the hotel to getting to your room through these elevators brought the experience down as a whole.” Oct 24, 2007 by
David from Christiansburg, VA
“Nice experience. Nice lounge. Good location.” Oct 22, 2007 by
Dianne from Virginia Beach, VA
“The first room they sent us to smell like mildew. It was not acceptable. The lady at the desk said she "hoped" she could find us another room as they were almost booked full. She did and it did smell better. But the room was not clean, crud on the light switch in the bathroom. The beds were not comfortable. This hotel does not deserve a 3 star rating. I will not stay here again.” Oct 21, 2007 by
Mike from Duluth, MN
“This was not my best experience. The people were friendly. The restaurant food was ok but they messed up on the bill.” Oct 17, 2007 by
Annon from Takoma Park, MD
“Would not stay here again as this hotel does not offer free wireless or even wired internet, the service at the restaurant was very slow. Employees friendly enough, room ok. Not impressed. Parking lot dark. Room very far away from entrance and no other convenient entrances near rooms.” Oct 13, 2007 by
Gayle from Mt Juliet, TN
“The staff was good. But the rooms looked very 60's. The mattresses were snobby and felt well used. The paint in the bathroom was peeling away, the TV. Was very small and had static and the rugs were worn so much that the backing was showing thru. The linens seemed clean, as was the bathroom, but it is time for a remodel. The two stars that we stayed in, while on this trip were much nicer. We were disappointed in this hotel. We would not choose to stay here again, when a new two star is just down the road.” Oct 10, 2007 by
Mel from Roanoke, VA
“I grew up in Roanoke so I know a little about the hotels there. Other than the historic hotel downtown, the Wenham is my favorite. It is near the airport, mall, movies, and restaurants.” Oct 9, 2007 by
Debbie from Powell, OH
“After being robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot, the staff was concerned, but not overly helpful. We had no money, no credit cards, and they offered us nothing not even free breakfast. After this happened we found out that a similar incident had occurred the month before, yet they'd chosen not to have a night security guard on staff.” Oct 1, 2007 by
Carol from Peru, IN
“Enjoyed being there. It would have been better if the employees had been friendly. Just a good morning greeting would have been nice.” Sep 26, 2007 by
Jerry from Arlington, VA
“I've stayed at this hotel several times over the past few years. This time, the wear and tear were really showing - both in the public spaces and in the room. It's time to refurbish.” Sep 25, 2007 by
C from Raleigh, NC
“Definitely outdated and on the dirty side. A little disappointing but it did have some old charm to it.” Sep 23, 2007 by
Lilyann from Hernando, FL
“Hotel has a western lodge feel with beautiful, huge planters and pottery. Room was attractively furnished. Two sink areas in the bathroom were very convenient. Loved that the balcony doors opened to fresh air! Would be happy to revisit this hotel and city.” Sep 20, 2007 by
Andrea from Salem, VA
“Beautiful pool and sauna area as well as ornamental fishpond in a very romantic setting. Beautiful.” Sep 19, 2007 by
Cindy from Nashville, TN
“For a 3 1/2 star upscale hotel it was a disappointment. The lobby rug was much discolored and another rug on the way to the guest rooms is worn down to the threads. The dark wood floors have visible traffic lanes worn thru the varnish in places. I do not recall being asked for my preference in smoking or non-smoking, and much to my dismay; I was given a smoking room that reeked. In fact, you could smell cigarette smoke out into the lobby area. If I had not been so tired, I would have asked for another room. I did have breakfast in their dining room, Lilly's on Sunday morning and it was adequate, but I was disappointed in the lack of readily available edible fruit. For a hotel to be as an upscale venture, I would expect the fruit to be peeled and presented in serving bowls rather than a bowl of apples, a bowl of grapes, and a bowl of whole oranges and bananas.” Sep 15, 2007 by
Zouhair from Rocky Mt, VA
“I recommend it to everyone.” Sep 14, 2007 by
Bill from Dacula, GA
“Very pretty. A long walk from the parking lot to the elevators. Very friendly staff.” Sep 14, 2007 by
Dennis from York, PA
“Slow speed internet which I had to pay in my room. Their website said they had hi speed internet in each room. They didn't say you had to pay for it and it was slow.” Sep 12, 2007 by
Lance from Virginia Beach, VA
“Beautiful location and staff were very friendly, easy access to other places.” Sep 10, 2007 by
Doug from Arlington, VA
“Nice place and a good 3 star hotel. Not your typical high rise hotel this one comes across as more of a boutique hotel. My guess is wyndham bought an existing hotel and rebranded it. It's cozy and has an interesting layout. Room was clean and comfortable.” Sep 10, 2007 by
Tom from Lynchburg, VA
“This hotel was very disappointing. Certainly not of 3-star quality that I was expecting. The room was small and was not clean, and the beds were uncomfortable. I would not stay there again.” Sep 9, 2007 by
Rita from New Richmond, OH
“This hotel used to be a Marriott and was high quality. The owners now are letting it deteriorate. No excuse for the poor upkeep. I had the makings for coffee in the morning but no coffee pot.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Robert from Washington, DC
“The hotel offers numerous values for the traveler, the beds and bathrooms are excellent, the rooms clean and attractive. A lack of internet in all rooms was a pain, but Wi-Fi in the lobby was a help. The restaurant would not take us after 9 pm because it becomes a night club and would not allow my 8 year old in; despite the fact only two people were in the facility. But the indoor and outdoor pools were great, room service was attentive, and the managers made an effort to overcome all difficulties we encountered.” Sep 4, 2007 by
Phil from Lima, NY
“Great hotel, tremendous value, being short sheeted is my only complaint.” Sep 2, 2007 by
Heather from Weaverville, NC
“This hotel looks great from the outside, but inside it is old, dusty, and dated. The elevators are far from the front desk, so if you have lots of luggage its a trek. The elevators smelled horrible, like mold. The room was so dusty I had a really bad allergy attack and almost needed to check out and get on the road at 6:00am. I woke up coughing. The air conditioner vents in the room were extremely dusty and dust all in the corners of the room. If I were staying more than one night, and not just passing through, I would have demanded a refund. This time is a strike, beware-not a 3 star hotel by any means-maybe back in 1982.also, need to add, there was no help with luggage service, which I would expect at a 3 star. The staff watched while we struggled.” Sep 2, 2007 by
Robert from Richmond, VA
“This property could be good but it seems they have lost caring. The rooms sheets were sticky, the spray they use in the room made me sick. I had to sleep with the windows open all night just to breath.” Sep 1, 2007 by
Jim from Brandon, FL
“Hotel was just ok. We asked for a queen size bed or better. When we arrived we were told that only a double bed was available. When I advised that was unsatisfactory, a room suddenly was found. The change was handled with a bit of attitude. We had called ahead to arrange a refrigerator for my wife's medication and the staff did make the arrangements quickly to get the refrigerator to the new room.” Aug 30, 2007 by
Dalimama from Chalfont, PA
“This hotel was especially nice for the price. Traveling as a single Mom with kids, I felt safe and the kids enjoyed the indoor pool. The rooms were well-appointed with clean and tasteful linens. I also liked the convenience of a Starbucks stand right in the lobby.” Aug 25, 2007 by
Pita from Jonesboro, GA
“While the public facilities were in nice condition, from the elevator, to the hallway, to the actual room was all worn looking. I would say they need a really good scrubbing (to get rid of all the hairs found in our bathroom) and perhaps some minor renovations. Definitely not an upscale hotel.” Aug 23, 2007 by
Linda from Lincoln, DE
“The hotel is very attractive with a beautiful dining room and lounge area. I was traveling with other people and visiting relatives in the area so I didn't partake of the many amenities. This was my second stay at the Wyndham Hotel.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Robert from Orange, TX
“Needs renovation, has that 1970's feel. Have to pay daily $9.95 for internet service which was disgusting. Small televisions in rooms. Washing machine had only a cold water wash cycle. No candy machines on floors. Staff did not work with me on getting a flat rate for internet service. Front desk could not make change for laundry, which I did at my co-workers hotel. A/C units did not ever turn off. It was either too cold or warm. The fan ran continuous.” Aug 21, 2007 by
Margaret from Flanders, NJ
“This was a 1 or may be 2-star experience. If we had been booked for more than one night, I would not have stayed there. The Wyndhams around my home are very nice, but this looked like these rooms had been bought from Days Inn or Motel 6.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Donnie from Norfolk, VA
“The hotel was comfortable, however it is showing signs of age and the rooms need some updating. Hallways and corridors down towards the elevators smell of smoke.” Aug 20, 2007 by
Janice from Hummelstown, PA
“This hotel was very clean, comfortable, and the staff very friendly. The beds were soft and pillows plush. Having three restaurants inside, the hotel was very convenient. The location is convenient to I-81 and I would stay there again in a heartbeat.” Aug 15, 2007 by
Felicia from Lynchburg, VA
“Overall, I like staying at this hotel. Its convenient to a good friend of mine and its no problem trying to find it.” Aug 13, 2007 by
William from Virginia Beach, VA
“I was pleasantly surprised at cleanliness and feel of the hotel. The bar there had 2 floors and would make a great place to entertain. The hotel was nice and had a bit of a rustic feel to it. There were inside and outside pools. Everything looked clean and I would recommend staying there to anyone in that area. The hotel is actually several building connected by hallways and common areas. A neat hotel that's different from the standard box hotel. I will stay at this hotel in the future if I am in the area again.” Aug 4, 2007 by
Ned from Apex, NC
“Great hotel and great value. Hotels' decor is tried and ready for remodeling. Good beds nice rooms but decor is dark and well worn.” Jul 31, 2007 by
Arthur from New Bedford, MA
“Damage to ceiling in bathroom, as well as mold, unfortunately we didn't notice until the morning. The outlet for the hairdryer was not working and we were insulted by the desk person when I called it in. When the electrician came he stated that the outlet had been a problem and that the room should not have been used. He ran an extension cord across the room to use the hair dryer. I have pictures to support these points.” Jul 26, 2007 by
Timothy from Coatesville, PA
“The overall hotel experience was a good one. It was semi-family friendly as the restaurants did not lend themselves to small kids but the pool was nice. We would stay there again if needed but might not necessarily stay there if another 3 star hotel was available in the same price range. Just needed some upgrades and it would be a very nice hotel again.” Jul 23, 2007 by
Julia from Greensboro, NC
“The web site for this hotel claims they cater to people that are handicap. Well they don't. You can't just put bars on the toilets and in the bath tubes and say they are handicap rooms. You need to think what if you were in a wheelchair can I get onto the toilet in the shower? Is there enough room for a wheelchair?” Hotel Representatives:
